Black holes with scalar hair: Extending from and beyond the Schwarzschild solution

We construct novel scalarized black hole (BH) solutions beyond the general relativity (GR) framework. These scalarized BH solutions are extended from the Schwarzschild one and the non-Schwarzschild one in the pure Einstein-Weyl gravity. By studying the BH entropy and free energy, we demonstrate that the scalarized BH extending from the Schwarzschild one exhibits thermodynamically preferred. We obtain these novel solutions by directly solving the full fourth-order equations of motion. This narrows the problematic solution space obtained by commonly adopted second-order reduction to physically valid spaces. Our findings also unveil the evasion of the no-hair theorem within the realm of higher-derivative gravity.

Constraints from Solar System tests on a covariant loop quantum black hole

Recently, a covariant spherically symmetric model of a black hole within the framework of loop quantum gravity (LQG), characterized by a quantum parameter $r_0$ or $λ$, has been proposed. To derive constraints on the LQG-corrected parameter, we explore observational constraints imposed on $r_0$ and $λ$ through investigations of the light deflection, the Shapiro time delay, the precession of perihelia, and the geodetic precession test. Among these constraints, the tightest one arises from the Shapiro time delay measured by the Cassini mission, yielding an upper constraint of approximately $10^{-5}$.

Quasinormal modes of quantum-corrected black holes

In this paper, we investigate the quasinormal mode (QNM) spectra for scalar perturbation over a quantum-corrected black hole (BH). The fundamental modes of this quantum-corrected BH exhibit two key properties. Firstly, there is a non-monotonic behavior concerning the quantum-corrected parameter for zero multipole number. Secondly, the quantum gravity effects result in slower decay modes. For higher overtones, a significant deviation becomes evident between the quasinormal frequencies (QNFs) of the quantum-corrected and Schwarzschild BHs. The intervention of quantum gravity corrections induces a significant outburst of overtones. This outburst of these overtones can be attributed to the distinctions near the event horizons between the Schwarzschild and quantum-corrected BHs. Therefore, overtones can serve as a means to probe physical phenomena or disparities in the vicinity of the event horizon.

A novel holographic quantum phase transition and butterfly velocity

In this paper, we make a systematical and in-depth exploration on the phase structure and the behaviors of butterfly velocity in an Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axions (EMDA) model. Depending on the model parameter, there are two kinds of mechanisms driving quantum phase transition (QPT) in this model. One is the infrared (IR) geometry to be renormalization group (RG) unstable, and the other is the strength of lattice deformation leading to some kind of bifurcating solution. We also find a novel QPT in the metal phases. The study on the behavior of the butterfly velocity crossing QPT indicates that the butterfly velocity or its first derivative exhibiting local extreme depends on the QPT mechanism. Further, the scaling behaviors of the butterfly velocity in the zero-temperature limit confirm that different phases are controlled by different IR geometries. Therefore, the butterfly velocity is a good probe to QPT and it also provides a possible way to study QPT beyond holography.

Alternating current conductivity and superconducting properties of the holographic effective theory

We construct a holographic effective superconducting theory by considering a special gauge-axion higher derivative term. The gauge-axion coupling results in the transport behavior similar to the vortex response in the dual boundary field theory leading to non-Drude behavior of alternating current (AC) conductivity at the weak momentum dissipation. With the momentum dissipation increasing, a dip exhibits in the AC conductivity at low frequency. It is thought to be the result of a combination of the strong momentum dissipation and the gauge-axion coupling. In the superconducting phase, this gauge-axion coupling also plays a key role leading to a more evident gap at the low frequency conductivity. In addition, we also study the combined effects of the strength of momentum dissipation and various couplings among the gauge field, axion fields and the complex scalar field.

Dynamic Properties of Two-Dimensional Latticed Holographic System

We study the anisotropic properties of dynamical quantities: direct current (DC) conductivity, butterfly velocity, and charge diffusion. The anisotropy plays a crucial role in determining the phase structure of the two-lattice system. Even a small deviation from isotropy can lead to distinct phase structures, as well as the IR fixed points of our holographic systems. In particular, for anisotropic cases, the most important property is that the IR fixed point can be non-AdS$_2 \times \mathbb R^2$ even for metallic phases. As that of a one-lattice system, the butterfly velocity and the charge diffusion can also diagnose the quantum phase transition (QPT) in this two-dimensional anisotropic latticed system.

Transport properties of a $3$-dimensional holographic effective theory with gauge-axion coupling

In this paper, we implement a $3$-dimensional holographic effective theory with gauge-axion coupling. The analytical black hole solution is worked out. We investigate the Direct current (DC) thermoelectric conductivities. A novel property is that DC electric conductivity for vanishing gauge-axion coupling is temperature dependent. It is different from that of $4$-dimensional axion model whose DC electric conductivity is temperature independent. In addition, the gauge-axion coupling induces a metal insulator transition (MIT) at zero temperature. The properties of other DC thermoelectric conductivities are also discussed. Moreover we find that the Wiedemann-Franz (WF) law is violated in our model.

Analytical study of the holographic superconductor from higher derivative theory

In this paper, we analytically study the holographic superconductor models with the high derivative (HD) coupling terms. Using the Sturm-Liouville (SL) eigenvalue method, we perturbatively calculate the critical temperature. The analytical results are in good agreement with the numerical results. It confirms that the perturbative method in terms of the HD coupling parameters is available. Along the same line, we analytically calculate the value of the condensation near the critical temperature. We find that the phase transition is second order with mean field behavior, which is independent of the HD coupling parameters. Then in the low temperature limit, we also calculate the conductivity, which is qualitatively consistent with the numerical one. We find that the superconducting energy gap is proportional to the value of the condensation. But we note that since the condensation changes with the HD coupling parameters, as the function of the HD coupling parameters, the superconducting energy gap follows the same change trend as that of the condensation.

Chaotic dynamics of string around charged black brane with hyperscaling violation

By fast Lyapunov indicator (FLI), we study the chaotic dynamics of closed string around charged black brane with hyperscaling violation (HV). The Hawking temperature, Lifshitz dynamical exponent and HV exponent together affect the chaotic dynamics of this system. The temperature plays the role of driving the closed string to escape to infinity. There is a threshold value $z_{\ast}=2$, below which the string is captured by the black brane no matter where the string is placed at the beginning. However, when $z>2$, the string escapes to infinity if it is placed near the black brane at the beginning, but if the initial position of string is far away from the black brane, it oscillates around the black brane till eternity, which is a quasi-periodic motion. HV exponent plays the role of driving the string falling into the black brane. With the increase of HV exponent $θ$, the falling velocity becomes faster. We find that when we heat the system with large HV exponent, the chaotic system does not essentially changes. It indicates that the HV exponent plays a very important role in determining the state of the chaotic system. Also we study the the effect from the winding number of the string. The study indicates that the chaotic dynamics of the string is insensitive to the winding number.

Doped holographic fermionic system

We construct a two-current model. It includes two gauge fields, which introduce the doping effect, and a neutral scalar field. And then we numerically construct an AdS black brane geometry with scalar hair. Over this background, we study the fermionic system with the pseudoscalar Yukawa coupling. Some universal properties from the pseudoscalar Yukawa coupling are revealed. In particular, as the coupling increases, there is a transfer of the spectral weight from the low energy band to the high energy band. The transfer is over low energy scales but not over all energy scales. The peculiar properties are also explored. The study shows that with the increase of the doping, the gap opens more difficult. It indicates that there is a competition between the pseudoscalar Yukawa coupling and the doping.

Echoes from phantom wormholes

We study the time evolution of the test scalar and electromagnetic fields perturbations in configurations of phantom wormholes surrounded by dark energy with state parameter $ω< -1$. We observe obvious signals of echoes reflecting wormholes properties and disclose the physical reasons behind such phenomena. In particular, we find that the dark energy equation of state has a clear imprint in echoes in wave perturbations. When $ω$ approaches the phantom divide $ω=-1$ from below, the delay time of echoes becomes longer. The echo of gravitational wave is likely to be detected in the near future, the signature of the dark energy equation of state in the echo spectrum can serve as a local measurement of the dark energy.

Higher derivatives driven symmetry breaking in holographic superconductors

In this paper, we construct a novel holographic superconductor from higher derivative (HD) gravity involving a coupling between the complex scalar field and the Weyl tensor. This HD coupling term provides a near horizon effective mass squared, which can violates IR Breitenlohner-Freedman (BF) bound by tuning the HD coupling and induces the instability of black brane such that the superconducting phase transition happens. We also study the properties of the condensation and the conductivity in the probe limit. We find that a wider extension of the superconducting energy gap ranging from 4.6 to 10.5 may provide a novel platform to model and interpret the phenomena in the real materials of high temperature superconductor.

Holograhic two-currents model with coupling and its conductivites

We implement a holographic gravity model of two gauge fields with a coupling between them, which is dual to a two-currents model. An analytical black brane solution is obtained. In particular, we work out the expressions of conductivities with coupling and find that the expressions of conductivities are directly related to the coupling parameter $θ$. It is the main topic of our present work. As an application, we calculate the conductivities by the scheme outlined here and briefly discuss the properties of the conductivities. An interesting property is that as the coupling $θ$ increases, the dip at low frequency in $Re[σ_A]$/$Re[σ_B]$ becomes deepening and then turns into a hard-gap-like when $θ=1$, which is independent of the doping $χ$. Some monotonic behaviors of the conductivities are also discussed.

Holographic subregion complexity under thermal quench in Einstein-Maxwell-Axions theory with momentum relaxation

We investigate the evolution of holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) and holographic complexity (HC) under a thermal quench in Einstein-Maxwell-Axion theory (EMA), which is dual to a field theory with momentum relaxation on the boundary. A strip-shaped boundary geometry is utilized to calculate HEE and HC via `entropy=surface' and `complexity=volume' conjecture, respectively. By fixing other parameters we claim that either large enough black hole charge or width of the strip will introduce swallow-tail behaviors in HEE and multi-values in HC due to the discontinuity of the minimum Hubeny-Rangamani-Takayanagi (HRT) surface. Meanwhile, we explore the effects of momentum relaxation on the evolution of HEE and HC. The results present that the momentum relaxation will suppress the discontinuity to occur as it increases. For large enough momentum relaxation the continuity of HEE and HC will be recovered.

Particle motion and chaos

In this note, we consider particle falling in the black hole with an additional potential. Following the proposal by Susskind \cite{Susskind:2018tei}, we study the growth rate of the particle's Rindler momentum, which corresponds to the growth rate of the operator size in the dual chaotic system. A general analysis near the horizon shows that the growth rate of the particle's Rindler momentum of the particle falling with a regular potential is as the same as that of the particle free falling, which saturates the chaos bound. However, when the potential is singular, the growth rate is suppressed such that it is below the Lyapunov exponent. It implies that the chaos suppression may be captured by an additional singular potential in the gravity side. We further explicitly study a particle falling in hyperscaling violating spacetime to confirm the general analysis results. Finally we study the particle falling in AdS soliton geometry. It also exhibits a suppression of the growth of the Rindler momentum. It is attributed to that when the repulsive potential is introduced or the black hole horizon is absent, the particle is slowed down and its trajectory seen by a comoving observer is timelike, which corresponds a weak chaos system.

Thermodynamics and weak cosmic censorship conjecture of an AdS black hole with a monopole in the extended phase space

The first law of black hole thermodynamics in the extended phase space is prevailing recently. However, the second law as well as the weak cosmic censorship conjecture has not been investigated extensively. In this paper, we investigate the laws of thermodynamics and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture of an AdS black hole with a global monopole in the extended phase space under a charged particle absorption. It is shown that the first law of thermodynamics is valid, while the second law is violated for the extremal and near-extremal black holes. Moreover, we find the weak cosmic censorship conjecture is valid only for the extremal black hole, but is violable for the near-extremal black hole. It is different from the previous results where the high order corrections were neglected.

A Novel Insulator by Holographic Q-lattices

We construct a bulk geometry with Q-lattice structure, which is implemented by two gauge fields and a coupling between the lattice and the Maxwell field. This gravity dual model can describe a novel insulator which exhibits some key features analogous to Mott insulator. In particular, a hard gap in insulating phase as well as vanishing DC conductivity can be simultaneously achieved. In addition, we discuss the non-Drude behavior of the optical conductivity in low frequency region in insulating phase, which exhibits some novel characteristics different from ordinary Mott insulator.

Characterization of Quantum Phase Transition using Holographic Entanglement Entropy

The entanglement exhibits extremal or singular behavior near quantum critical points (QCPs) in many condensed matter models. These intriguing phenomena, however, still call for a widely accepted understanding. In this letter we study this issue in holographic framework. We investigate the connection between the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) and the quantum phase transition (QPT) in a lattice-deformed Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton theory. Novel backgrounds exhibiting metal-insulator transitions (MIT) have been constructed in which both metallic phase and insulating phase have vanishing entropy density in zero temperature limit. We find that the first order derivative of HEE with respect to lattice parameters exhibits extremal behavior near QCPs. We propose that it would be a universal feature that HEE or its derivatives with respect to system parameters can characterize QPT in a generic holographic system. Our work opens a window for understanding the relation between entanglement and the QPT from holographic perspective.

Holographic Entanglement Entropy Close to Quantum Phase Transitions

We investigate the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) of a strip geometry in four dimensional Q-lattice backgrounds, which exhibit metal-insulator transitions in the dual field theory. Remarkably, we find that the HEE always displays a peak in the vicinity of the quantum critical points. Our model provides the first direct evidence that the HEE can be used to characterize the quantum phase transition (QPT). We also conjecture that the maximization behavior of HEE at quantum critical points would be universal in general holographic models.

Holographic incoherent transport in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton Gravity

Recent progress in the holographic approach makes it more transparent that each conductivity can be decomposed into the coherent contribution due to momentum relaxation and the incoherent contribution due to intrinsic current relaxation. In this paper we investigate this decomposition in the framework of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. We derive the perturbation equations, which are decoupled for a large class of background solutions, and then obtain the analytic results of conductivity with the slow momentum relaxation in low frequency approximation, which is consistent with the known results from memory matrix techniques.

Momentum dissipation and holographic transport without self-duality

We implement the momentum dissipation introduced by spatial linear axionic fields in a holographic model without self-duality, broke by Weyl tensor coupling to Maxwell field, and study its response. It is found that for the positive Weyl coupling parameter $γ>0$, the momentum dissipation characterized by parameter $\hatα$ drives the boundary conformal field theory (CFT), in which the conductivity exhibits a peak at low frequency, into the incoherent metallic phase with a dip, which is away from CFT due to the introduction of axionic fields. While for $γ<0$, an oppositive scenario is found. Our present model provides a possible route toward the problem that which sign of $γ$ is the correct description of the CFT of boson Hubbard model. In addition, we also investigate the DC conductivity, diffusion constant and susceptibility. We find that for each of these observables there is a specific value of $\hatα$, for which these observables are independent of $γ$. Finally, the electromagnetic (EM) duality is also studied and we find that there is also a specific value of $\hatα$, for which the particle-vortex duality related by the change of the sign of $γ$ in the boundary theory holds better than for other values of $\hatα$.

The pseudo-gap phase and the duality in holographic fermionic system with dipole coupling on Q-lattice

We classify the different phases by the "pole-zero mechanism" for a holographic fermionic system which contains a dipole coupling with strength $p$ on a Q-lattice background. A complete phase structure in $p$ space can be depicted in terms of Fermi liquid, non-Fermi liquid, Mott phase and pseudo-gap phase. In particular, we find that in general the region of the pseudo-gap phase in $p$ space is suppressed when the Q-lattice background is dual to a deep insulating phase, while for an anisotropic background, we have an anisotropic region for the pseudo-gap phase in $p$ space as well. In addition, we find that the duality between zeros and poles always exists regardless of whether or not the model is isotropic.

Anisotropic Fermi surface from holography

We investigate the probe holographic fermions by using an anisotropic charged black brane solution. We derive the equation of motion of probe bulk fermions with one Fermi momentum along the anisotropic and one along the isotropic directions. We then numerically solve the equation and analyze the properties of Green function with these two momentums. We find in this case the shape of Fermi surface is anisotropic. However, for both Fermi momentums perpendicular to the anisotropic direction, the Fermi surface is isotropic. We verify that our system obeys the recently conjectured bound for thermoelectric diffusion constants for the stable branch of the black brane solutions.

Building a doped Mott system by holography

We construct a holographic model in the framework of Q-lattices whose dual exhibits metal-insulator transitions. By introducing an interacting term between the Q-lattice and the electromagnetic field in bulk geometry, we find such kind of transition can be Mott-like. The evidences are presented as follows. i) The transition from a metallic phase to an insulating phase occurs when the lattice constant becomes larger. ii) A hard gap in the insulating phase can be manifestly observed in the optical conductivity. Nevertheless, in the zero temperature limit this model exhibits novel metallic behavior, featured by a gap as well as a zero-frequency mode with tiny spectral weight. It implies that our model is dual to a doped Mott system in one dimension where umklapp scattering is frozen at zero temperature. The similarity between this model and some organic linear chain conductors is briefly discussed.

DC and Hall conductivity in holographic massive Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton gravity

We investigate the holographic DC and Hall conductivity in massive Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) gravity. Two special EMD backgrounds are considered explicitly. One is dyonic Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{o}$m-AdS (RN-AdS) geometry and the other one is hyperscaling violation AdS (HV-AdS) geometry. We find that the linear-T resistivity and quadratic-T inverse Hall angle can be simultaneously achieved in HV-AdS models, providing a hint to construct holographic models confronting with the experimental data of strange metal in future.

Dynamically generated gap from holography in the charged black brane with hyperscaling violation

We holographically investigate the effects of a dipole coupling between a fermion field and a $U(1)$ gauge field on the dual fermionic sector in the charged gravity bulk with hyperscaling violation. We analytically study the features of the ultraviolet and infrared Green's functions of the dual fermionic system and we show that as the dipole coupling and the hyperscaling violation exponent are varied, the fluid possess Fermi, marginal Fermi, non-Fermi liquid phases and also an additional Mott insulating phase. We find that the increase of the hyperscaling violation exponent which effectively reduces the dimensionality of the system makes it harder for the Mott gap to be formed. We also show that the observed duality between zeros and poles in the presence of a dipole moment coupling still persists in theories with hyperscaling violation.

Holographic Superconductor on Q-lattice

We construct the simplest gravitational dual model of a superconductor on Q-lattices. We analyze the condition for the existence of a critical temperature at which the charged scalar field will condense. In contrast to the holographic superconductor on ionic lattices, the presence of Q-lattices will suppress the condensate of the scalar field and lower the critical temperature. In particular, when the Q-lattice background is dual to a deep insulating phase, the condensation would never occur for some small charges. Furthermore, we numerically compute the optical conductivity in the superconducting regime. It turns out that the presence of Q-lattice does not remove the pole in the imaginary part of the conductivity, ensuring the appearance of a delta function in the real part. We also evaluate the gap which in general depends on the charge of the scalar field as well as the Q-lattice parameters. Nevertheless, when the charge of the scalar field is relatively large and approaches the probe limit, the gap becomes universal with $ω_g \simeq 9T_c$ which is consistent with the result for conventional holographic superconductors.

Scalar Boundary Conditions in Hyperscaling Violating Geometry

We study the possible boundary conditions of scalar field modes in a hyperscaling violation(HV) geometry with Lifshitz dynamical exponent $z (z\geqslant1)$ and hyperscaling violation exponent $θ(θ\neq0)$. For the case with $θ>0$, we show that in the parameter range with $1\leq z\leq 2,~-z+d-1<θ\leq (d-1)(z-1)$ or $z>2,~-z+d-1<θ\leq d-1$, the boundary conditions have different types, including the Neumann, Dirichlet and Robin conditions, while in the range with $θ\leq-z+d-1$, only Dirichlet type condition can be set. In particular, we further confirm that the mass of the scalar field does not play any role in determining the possible boundary conditions for $θ>0$, which has been addressed in Ref. \cite{1201.1905}. Meanwhile, we also do the parallel investigation in the case with $θ<0$. We find that for $m^2<0$, three types of boundary conditions are available, but for $m^2>0$, only one type is available.

Chaos from the ring string in Gauss-Bonnet black hole in $AdS_5$ space

By the Poincare sections, the dynamical behaviors of the ring string in the AdS-Gauss-Bonnet (AdS-GB) black hole are studied. A threshold value of the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) parameter $λ$ are found by the numerical method, below which the behavior of this dynamical system is no-chaotic and above which the behavior becomes gradually chaotic. The chaotic behavior becomes stronger with the increases of GB parameter. It is different from the case in the AdS-Schwarzschild black hole, which is weakly chaotic. Furthermore, we confirm our findings by the Fast Lyapunov indicators.

Formation of Fermi surfaces and the appearance of liquid phases in holographic theories with hyperscaling violation

We consider a holographic fermionic system in which the fermions are interacting with a U(1) gauge field in the presence of a dilaton field in a gravity bulk of a charged black hole with hyperscaling violation. Using both analytical and numerical methods, we investigate the properties of the infrared and ultaviolet Green's functions of the holographic fermionic system. Studying the spectral functions of the system, we find that as the hyperscaling violation exponent is varied, the fermionic system possesses Fermi, non-Fermi, marginal-Fermi and log-oscillating liquid phases. Various liquid phases of the fermionic system with hyperscaling violation are also generated with the variation of the fermionic mass. We also explore the properties of the flat band and the Fermi surface of the non-relativistic fermionic fixed point dual to the hyperscaling violation gravity.

Holographic fermionic system with dipole coupling on Q-lattice

We construct a holographic model for a fermionic system on Q-lattice and compute the spectral function in the presence of a dipole coupling. Both key features of doped Mott insulators, the dynamical generation of a gap and spectral weight transfer, are observed when adjusting the value of the coupling parameter $p$. Of particular interest is that when the background is in a deep insulating phase, the Mott gap opens much easier with a smaller coupling parameter in comparison with a metallic background. The effects of lattice parameters on the width of the gap $Δ/μ$ are studied and a turning point is observed near the critical regime of metal-insulator transitions of the background. Furthermore, the temperature dependence of the spectral function is studied. Finally, we also observe that the anisotropic Q-lattice generates anisotropic peaks with different magnitudes, indicating that insulating and metallic phases arise in different directions.

Holographic superconductors from the massive gravity

A holographic superconductor is constructed in the background of a massive gravity theory. In the normal state without condensation, the conductivity exhibits a Drude peak that approaches a delta function in the massless gravity limit as studied by David Vegh. In the superconducting state, besides the infinite DC conductivity, the AC conductivity has Drude behavior at low frequency followed by a power law-fall. These results are in agreement with that found earlier by Horowitz and Santos, who studied a holographic superconductor with an implicit periodic potential beyond the probe limit. The results also agree with measurements on some cuprates.

Anomaly freedom of the vector modes with holonomy corrections in perturbative Euclidean loop quantum gravity

We study the perturbation of the effective Hamiltonian constraint with holonomy correction from Euclidean loop quantum gravity. The Poisson bracket between the corrected Hamiltonian constraint and the diffeomorphism constraint is derived for vector modes. Some specific form of the holonomy correction function $f^{i}_{cd}$ is found, which satisfies that the constraint algebra is anomaly-free. This result confirms the possibility of non-trivial holonomy corrections from full theory while preserving anomaly-free constraint algebra in the perturbation framework. It also gives valuable hints on the possible form of holonomy corrections in effective loop quantum gravity.

Dynamical gap from holography in the charged dilaton black hole

We study the holographic non-relativistic fermions in the presence of bulk dipole coupling in charged dilatonic black hole background. We explore the nontrivial effects of the bulk dipole coupling, the fermion charge as well as the dilaton field on the flat band, the Fermi surface and the emergence of the gap by investigating the spectral function of the non-relativistic fermion system. In particular, we find that the presence of the flat band in the non-relativistic case will suppress the Fermi momentum. Besides, we observe that the effect of the dipole coupling in the dilaton gravity is more explicit. Finally, we consider the non-relativistic fermions at nonzero temperature. A phase transition from insulator to a conducting state is observed as the fermion system becomes hotter.

Holographic fermions in charged dilaton black branes

By imposing the relativistic boundary term and Lorentz violating that in the dilatonic black brane with a Lifshitz like IR geometry and $AdS_4$ boundary, we study the properties of the spectral functions of the fermions. We find that in the two fixed points, there are emergent Fermi-surface structures and many properties seem to be in agreement with that of Fermi liquid. Especially, the low energy behavior exhibits a linear dispersion relation. In addition, we also find that a holographic flat band also emerges in this background of the dilatonic black brane.

Holographic Lattice in Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton Gravity

We construct an ionic lattice background in the framework of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory in four dimensional space time. The optical conductivity of the dual field theory on the boundary is investigated. Due to the lattice effects, we find the imaginary part of the conductivity is manifestly suppressed in the zero frequency limit, while the DC conductivity approaches a finite value such that the previous delta function reflecting the translation symmetry is absent. Such a behavior can be exactly fit by the Drude law at low frequency. Moreover, we find that the modulus of the optical conductivity exhibits a power-law behavior at intermediate frequency regime. Our results provides further support for the universality of such power-law behavior recently disclosed in Einstein-Maxwell theory by Horowitz, Santos and Tong.

Dipole Coupling Effect of Holographic Fermion in the Background of Charged Gauss-Bonnet AdS Black Hole

We investigate the holographic fermions in the charged Gauss-Bonnet $AdS_{d}$ black hole background with the dipole coupling between fermion and gauge field in the bulk. We show that in addition to the strength of the dipole coupling, the spacetime dimension and the higher curvature correction in the gravity background also influence the onset of the Fermi gap and the gap distance. We find that the higher curvature effect modifies the fermion spectral density and influences the value of the Fermi momentum for the appearance of the Fermi surface. There are richer physics in the boundary fermion system due to the modification in the bulk gravity.

Dynamic gap from holographic fermions in charged dilaton black branes

We report a dynamical formation of a (Mott) gap from holographic fermions. By coupling a fermion field with dipole action to the charged dilaton black branes with a Lifshitz like IR geometry and $AdS_{4}$ boundary, we find that when the dipole interaction is large enough, spectral weight is transferred between bands, and beyond a critical dipole interaction, a gap emerges in the fermion density of states. The value of the gap becomes larger as the strength of the interaction keeps increasing.

In this letter we construct the Stückelberg holographic superconductor with Weyl corrections. Under such corrections, the Weyl coupling parameter $γ$ plays an important role in the order of phase transitions and the critical exponents of second order phase transitions. So do the model parameters $c_α$, $α$ and $c_{4}$. Moreover, we show that the Weyl coupling parameter $γ$ and the model parameters $c_α$, $α$, $c_{4}$ which together control the size and strength of the conductivity coherence peak and the ratio of gap frequency over critical temperature $ω_{g}/T_{c}$.

Holographic fermions in charged Gauss-Bonnet black hole

We study the properties of the Green's functions of the fermions in charged Gauss-Bonnet black hole. What we want to do is to investigate how the presence of Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant $α$ affects the dispersion relation, which is a characteristic of Fermi or non-Fermi liquid, as well as what properties such a system has, for instance, the Particle-hole (a)symmetry. One important result of this research is that we find for $q=1$, the behavior of this system is different from that of the Landau Fermi liquid and so the system can be candidates for holographic dual of generalized non-Fermi liquids. More importantly, the behavior of this system increasingly similar to that of the Landau Fermi liquid when $α$ is approaching its lower bound. Also we find that this system possesses the Particle-hole asymmetry when $q\neq 0$, another important characteristic of this system. In addition, we also investigate briefly the cases of the charge dependence.

Some properties of the holographic fermions in an extremal charged dilatonic black hole

We study the properties of the Green's functions of the fermions in the extremal charged dilatonic black hole proposed by Gubser and Rocha [Phys. Rev. D \textbf{81}, 046001 (2010)]. We find that many properties seem to be in agreement with that of Fermi liquid. Especially, the dispersion relation is linear. It is very different from that found in the extremal Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{o}$m (RN) black hole for massless fermion, which is obviously non-Fermi liquid due to a nonlinear dispersion relation. However, for another scaling behavior of the height of $ImG_{11}$ at the maximum, the scaling exponent is not one, which is at odds with that found in the RN black hole.

The cosmological perturbation theory in loop cosmology with holonomy corrections

In this paper we investigate the scalar mode of first-order metric perturbations over spatially flat FRW spacetime when the holonomy correction is taken into account in the semi-classical framework of loop quantum cosmology. By means of the Hamiltonian derivation, the cosmological perturbation equations is obtained in longitudinal gauge. It turns out that in the presence of metric perturbation the holonomy effects influence both background and perturbations, and contribute the non-trivial terms $S_{h1}$ and $S_{h2}$ in the cosmological perturbation equations.

Thermal fluctuations in viscous cosmology

In this paper we investigate the power spectrum of thermal fluctuations in very early stage of viscous cosmology. When the state parameter as well as the viscous coefficient of a barotropic fluid is properly chosen, a scale invariant spectrum with large non-Gaussianity can be obtained. In contrast to the results previously obtained in string gas cosmology and holographic cosmology, we find the non-Gaussianity in this context can be k-independent such that it is not suppressed at large scale, which is expected to be testified in future observation.

Thermal non-Gaussianity in Near-Milne universe

The thermal non-Gaussianity in Near-Milne universe is investigated in this letter. Through classifying thermal fluctuations into two types, one characterized by a phase transition and the other without phase transition, we show that for fluctuations undergoing a phase transition, the non-Gaussianity depends linearly on $k$, but in non-phase transition case it is proportional to $k^{-3γ},γ>0$. Moreover, if the phase transition scenario is similar to that in holographic cosmology, we find that the non-Gaussianity $f_{NL}^{equil}$ can reach ${\cal O}(1)$ or larger than ${\cal O}(1)$ by fine tuning of the equation of state $ω_{C}$. Especially at the limit of $ω_{C}\to -5/3$, the non-Gaussianity can be very large. On the other hand, for non-phase transition case, the non-Gaussianity estimator $f_{NL}^{equil}$ is approximately $f_{NL}^{equil}\simeq 5/108$ when the energy is sub-extensive, especially when $γ\to 0^{+}$. However, when $γ\to 4$, large non-Gaussianity can be obtained.
