Aging for the stationary Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation and related models

We study the aging property for stationary models in the KPZ universality class. In particular, we show aging for the stationary KPZ fixed point, the Cole-Hopf solution to the stationary KPZ equation, the height function of the stationary TASEP, last-passage percolation with boundary conditions and stationary directed polymers in the intermediate disorder regime. All of these models are shown to display a universal aging behavior characterized by the rate of decay of their correlations. As a comparison, we show aging for models in the Edwards-Wilkinson universality class where a different decay exponent is obtained. A key ingredient to our proofs is a characteristic of space-time stationarity - covariance-to-variance reduction - which allows to deduce the asymptotic behavior of the correlations of two space-time points by the one of the variances at one point. We formulate several open problems.

Green kernel asymptotics for two-dimensional random walks under random conductances

We consider random walks among random conductances on $\mathbb{Z}^2$ and establish precise asymptotics for the associated potential kernel and the Green's function of the walk killed upon exiting balls. The result is proven for random walks on i.i.d. supercritical percolation clusters among ergodic degenerate conductances satisfying a moment condition. We also provide a similar result for the time-dynamic random conductance model. As an application we present a scaling limit for the variances in the Ginzburg-Landau $\nabla ϕ$-interface model.

On the gradient dynamics associated with wetting models

We consider several critical wetting models. In the discrete case, these probability laws are known to converge, after an appropriate rescaling, to the law of a reflecting Brownian motion, or of the modulus of a Brownian bridge, according to the boundary conditions. In the continuous case, a corresponding convergence result is proven in this paper, which allows to approximate the law of a reflecting Brownian motion by the law of Brownian meander tilted by its local time near the origin. On the other hand, these laws can be seen as the reversible probability measure of some Markov processes, namely, the dynamics which are encoded by integration by parts formulae. After proving the tightness of the associated reversible dynamics in the discrete case, based on heuristic considerations on the integration by parts formulae, we provide a conjecture on the limiting process, which we believe to satisfy a Bessel SPDE as introduced in a recent work by Elad Altman and Zambotti.

Quenched tail estimate for the random walk in random scenery and in random layered conductance II

This is a continuation of our earlier work [Stochastic Processes and their Applications, 129(1), pp.102--128, 2019] on the random walk in random scenery and in random layered conductance. We complete the picture of upper deviation of the random walk in random scenery, and also prove a bound on lower deviation probability. Based on these results, we determine asymptotics of the return probability, a certain moderate deviation probability, and the Green function of the random walk in random layered conductance.

Scaling limit of wetting models in $1+1$ dimensions pinned to a shrinking strip

We consider wetting models in $1+1$ dimensions on a shrinking strip with a general pinning function. We show that under diffusive scaling, the interface converges in law to to the reflected Brownian motion, whenever the strip size is $o(N^{-1/2})$ and the pinning function is close enough to critical value of the so-called $δ$-pinning model of Deuschel, Giacomin, and Zambotti [DGZ05]. As a corollary, the same result holds for the constant pinning strip wetting model at criticality with $o(N^{-1/2})$ strip size.

Invariance Principle for symmetric Diffusions in a degenerate and unbounded stationary and ergodic Random Medium

We study a symmetric diffusion $X$ on $\mathbb{R}^d$ in divergence form in a stationary and ergodic environment, with measurable unbounded and degenerate coefficients $a^ω$. The diffusion is formally associated with $L^ωu = \nabla\cdot(a^ω\nabla u)$, and we make sense of it through Dirichlet forms theory. We prove for $X$ a quenched invariance principle, under some moment conditions on the environment; the key tool is the sublinearity of the corrector obtained by Moser's iteration scheme.

Local Central Limit Theorem for diffusions in a degenerate and unbounded Random Medium

We study a symmetric diffusion $X$ on $\mathbb{R}^d$ in divergence form in a stationary and ergodic environment, with measurable unbounded and degenerate coefficients. We prove a quenched local central limit theorem for $X$, under some moment conditions on the environment; the key tool is a local parabolic Harnack inequality obtained with Moser iteration technique.

A quenched invariance principle for non-elliptic random walk in i.i.d. balanced random environment

We consider a random walk on Z^d in an i.i.d. balanced random environment, that is a random walk for which the probability to jump from x to nearest neighbor x+e is the same as to nearest neighbor x-e. Assuming that the environment is genuinely d-dimensional and balanced we show a quenched invariance principle: for P almost every environment, the diffusive rescaled random walk converges to a Brownian motion with deterministic non-degenerate diffusion matrix. Within the i.i.d. setting, our result extend both Lawler's uniformly elliptic result and Guo and Zeitouni's elliptic result to the general (non elliptic) case. Our proof is based on analytic methods and percolation arguments.

Decay of covariances, uniqueness of ergodic component and scaling limit for a class of \nablaϕsystems with non-convex potential

We consider a gradient interface model on the lattice with interaction potential which is a nonconvex perturbation of a convex potential. Using a technique which decouples the neighboring vertices sites into even and odd vertices, we show for a class of non-convex potentials: the uniqueness of ergodic component for \nablaϕ-Gibbs measures, the decay of covariances, the scaling limit and the strict convexity of the surface tension.

Markovian perturbation, response and fluctuation dissipation theorem

We consider the Fluctuation Dissipation Theorem (FDT) of statistical physics from a mathematical perspective. We formalize the concept of "linear response function" in the general framework of Markov processes. We show that for processes out of equilibrium it depends not only on the given Markov process X(s) but also on the chosen perturbation of it. We characterize the set of all possible response functions for a given Markov process and show that at equilibrium they all satisfy the FDT. That is, if the initial measure is invariant for the given Markov semi-group, then for any pair of times s<t and nice functions f,g, the dissipation, that is, the derivative in s of the covariance of g(X(t)) and f(X(s)) equals the infinitesimal response at time t and direction g to any Markovian perturbation that alters the invariant measure of X(.) in the direction of f at time s. The same applies in the so called FDT regime near equilibrium, i.e. in the limit s going to infinity with t-s fixed, provided X(s) converges in law to an invariant measure for its dynamics. We provide the response function of two generic Markovian perturbations which we then compare and contrast for pure jump processes on a discrete space, for finite dimensional diffusion processes, and for stochastic spin systems.

Recursions and tightness for the maximum of the discrete, two dimensional Gaussian Free Field

We consider the maximum of the discrete two dimensional Gaussian free field in a box, and prove the existence of a (dense) deterministic subsequence along which the maximum, centered at its mean, is tight; this still leaves open the conjecture that tightness holds without the need for subsequences. The method of proof relies on an argument developed by Dekking and Host for branching random walks with bounded increments and on comparison results specific to Gaussian fields.
