Exotic bottomonium hadronic transitions

We report on a recent computation of the transitions of exotic bottomonium to standard bottomonium and light quark hadrons. We work under the assumption that the $Υ(10753)$ and $Υ(11020)$ can be described as the lowest laying and first excitation $1^{--}$ hybrid bottomonium states, respectively. The computation has two distinct parts: the heavy quark transition matrix elements, which are obtained in a nonrelativistic EFT incorporating the heavy quark, multipole and adiabatic expansions; and the hadronization of the gluonic operators into the light-meson final states. The single mesons production is obtained through the axial anomaly and a standard $π^0-η-η'$ mixing scheme. Two pion and kaon production is obtained by solving the coupled Omnès problem. We also present result for semi-inclusive transitions.

Doubly heavy baryons in Born-Oppenheimer EFT

We report on the recent progress on the computation of the doubly heavy baryon spectrum in effective field theory. The effective field theory is built upon the heavy-quark mass and adiabatic expansions. The potentials can be expressed as NRQCD Wilson loops with operator insertions. These are nonperturbative objects and so far only the one corresponding to the static potential has been computed with lattice QCD. We review the proposal for a parametrization of the potentials based in an interpolation between the short- and long-distance regimes. The long-distance description is obtained with a newly proposed Effective String Theory which coincides with the previous ones for pure gluodynamics but it is extended to contain a fermion field. We show the doubly heavy baryon spectrum with hyperfine contributions obtained using these parametrizations for the hyperfine potentials.

QCD spin effects in the heavy hybrid potentials and spectra

The spin-dependent operators for heavy quarkonium hybrids have been recently obtained in a nonrelativistic effective field theory approach up to next-to-leading order in the heavy-quark mass expansion. In the effective field theory for hybrids several operators not found in standard quarkonia appear, including an operator suppressed by only one power of the heavy-quark mass. We compute the matching coefficients for these operators in the short heavy-quark-antiquark distance regime, $r\ll 1/Λ_{\rm QCD}$, by matching weakly-coupled potential NRQCD to the effective field theory for hybrids. In this regime the perturbative and nonperturbative contributions to the matching coefficients factorize, and the latter can be expressed in terms of purely gluonic correlators whose form we explicitly calculate with the aid of the transformation properties of the gluon fields under discrete symmetries. We detail our previous comparison with direct lattice computations of the charmonium hybrid spectrum, from which the unknown nonperturbative contributions can be obtained, and extend it to data sets with different light-quark masses.

Spin structure of heavy-quark hybrids

A unique feature of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), the theory of strong interactions, is the possibility for gluonic degrees of freedom to participate in the construction of physical hadrons, which are color singlets, in an analogous manner to valence quarks. Hadrons with no valence quarks are called glueballs, while hadrons where both gluons and valence quarks combine to form a color singlet are called hybrids. The unambiguous identification of such states among the experimental hadron spectrum has been thus far not possible. Glueballs are particularly difficult to establish experimentally since the lowest lying ones are expected to strongly mix with conventional mesons. On the other hand, hybrids should be easier to single out because the set of quantum numbers available to their lowest excitations may be exotic, i.e., not realized in conventional quark-antiquark systems. Particularly promising for discovery appear to be heavy hybrids, which are made of gluons and a heavy-quark-antiquark pair (charm or bottom). In the heavy-quark sector systematic tools can be used that are not available in the light-quark sector. In this paper we use a nonrelativistic effective field theory to uncover for the first time the full spin structure of heavy-quark hybrids up to $1/m^2$-terms in the heavy-quark-mass expansion. We show that such terms display novel characteristics at variance with our consolidated experience on the fine and hyperfine splittings in atomic, molecular and nuclear physics. We determine the nonperturbative contributions to the matching coefficients of the effective field theory by fitting our results to lattice-QCD determinations of the charmonium hybrid spectrum and extrapolate the results to the bottomonium hybrid sector where lattice-QCD determinations are still challenging.

Long-range properties of $1S$ bottomonium states

In the framework of weakly-coupled pNRQCD, we derive, first, an analytical expression for the chromo-polarizability of $1S$-bottomonium states in agreement with previous determinations. Then we use the QCD trace anomaly to obtain the two-pion production amplitude for the chromo-polarizability operator and match the result to a chiral effective field theory with $1S$-bottomonium states and pions as degrees-of-freedom. In this chiral effective field theory we compute some long-range properties of the $1S$ bottomonium generated by the pion coupling such as the leading chiral logarithm to the $1S$-bottomonium mass and the van der Waals potential between two $1S$-bottomonium states. Both results improve on previously known expressions.

Heavy hybrids in pNRQCD

We report on the calculation of the Quarkonium Hybrid masses for the $cg\bar{c}$, $bg\bar{c}$ and $bg\bar{b}$ systems~\cite{hbrpaper}. A QCD analog of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation including the $Λ$--doubling terms has been used. The gluonic static energies are obtained combining the short range description from potential non--relativistic QCD (pNRQCD) and lattice QCD calculations. The effect $Λ$--doubling terms is to mix the contributions of the static energies to the hybrid states leading to the break of the degeneracy between spin symmetry multiplets with opposite parity. The spin symmetry multiplets with mixed contributions from different static energies have a lower mass with respect to the parity opposite that remains without mixed contributions. We compare with direct lattice calculations and discuss several experimental candidates.
