Amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of $J/ψ\to Λ\barΣ^0η+\mathrm{c.c}$

Based on a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial-wave analysis of $ J/ψ\to Λ\bar{ Σ}^0η+\mathrm{c.c} $ is performed for the first time. The dominant contributions are found to be excited $Λ$ states with $J^P=1/2^-$ and $J^P=1/2^+$ in the $ηΛ$ mass spectra. The measured masses and widths are $M=1668.8\pm3.1\pm21.2$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=52.7\pm4.2\pm17.8$ MeV for the $Λ(1670)$, and $M=1881.5\pm16.5\pm20.3$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=82.4\pm18.2\pm8.9$ MeV for the $Λ(1810)$, respectively. The branching fraction is determined to be $ \mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to Λ\bar{ Σ}^0η+\mathrm{c.c}) $ = $(3.44 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.13) \times 10^{-5}$. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

Cross section measurement of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{0}π^{0}ψ(3686)$ from $\sqrt{s}=$ 4.008 GeV to 4.951 GeV

Using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of $22.1~\rm fb^{-1}$ at center-of-mass energies between 4.008 and 4.951~GeV collected with the BESIII detector, the cross sections of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{0}π^{0}ψ(3686)$ process are measured. The obtained cross sections are found to be approximately one-half of those of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$, consistent with the isospin symmetry expectation. A coherent fit to the dressed cross sections is performed, with the $Y(4230)$~parameters fixed at the values measured in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$. The significances of the $Y(4390)$ and $Y(4660)$ are both larger than $5σ$, and their masses and widths are consistent with the previous measurement in the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$ process.

First Measurement of the Absolute Branching Fraction of $η_c \to γγ$

We apply a tag-and-probe method to precisely measure the absolute branching fraction of the decay $η_c \to γγ$ with the BESIII experiment at BEPCII. Starting with a large initial sample of $2712.4\pm 14.3$ million $ψ(3686)$ events, a sample of 0.16 million $η_c$ events are tagged via the golden channel $ψ(3686)\to π^0 h_c$, $h_c\to γη_c$, effectively avoiding interference effects. The absolute branching fraction of $η_c \to γγ$ is measured for the first time to be $\mathcal{B}(η_c \to γγ) = (2.45 \pm 0.48_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.09_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-4}$. Using the world average value of the total width of the $η_c$, the partial decay width of $η_c \to γγ$ is calculated to be $Γ(η_c \to γγ) = (7.48 \pm 1.48_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.30_{\rm syst.})~{\rm keV}$.

First Observation of $D^{0(+)}\to \bar Kωe^+ν_e$ and Determination of the Branching Fraction of $\bar K_1(1270)\to \bar K ω$

Using 20.3~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the semileptonic decays $D^0\to K^-ωe^+ν_e$ and $D^+\to K_S^0ωe^+ν_e$ with significances of $8.0σ$ and $5.8σ$, respectively, including systematic uncertainties. Their decay branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(D^0\to K^-ωe^+ν_e)=(9.3^{+2.1}_{-1.9}\pm 0.7)\times10^{-5}$ and ${\cal B}(D^+\to K_S^0ωe^+ν_e)=(6.6^{+2.0}_{-1.8}\pm 0.6)\times10^{-5}$. Combining with the latest measurements of $D^{0(+)}\to K^-π^+π^{-(0)} e^+ν_e$ and assuming $\bar{K}_1(1270)$ to be the sole mediating resonance in all processes, the branching ratios are determined to be $\frac{Γ(K_1(1270)^-\to K^-π^+π^-)}{Γ(K_1(1270)^-\to K^-ω)} = 3.4^{+0.8}_{-0.7} \pm 0.3$ and $\frac{Γ(\bar{K}_1(1270)^0\to K^-π^+π^0)}{Γ(\bar{K}_1(1270)^0\to \bar{K}^0ω)} = 9.6^{+3.0}_{-2.7} \pm 0.8$. The combined branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal B(\bar{K}_1(1270)\to \bar{K}ω) = (7.5\pm 1.3 \pm 0.5)\%$, which is the most precise measurement from a collider experiment. The first uncertainties are statistical, and the second are systematic.

Measurements of the absolute branching fractions of the $Λ_{c}^{+}$ hadronic decays

Based on 4.5 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4599.53 MeV and 4698.82 MeV with the BESIII detector, the absolute branching fractions of twelve $Λ_{c}^{+}$ hadronic decay modes are measured with a double-tag technique. A global least-square fit is implemented simultaneously among different decay modes at different energy points. This paper gives the most precise results on the branching fractions of different decay modes to date, with precision improved by a factor of 2 to 3. Among them, the branching fraction of $Λ_{c}^{+}\to pK^{-}π^+$ is determined to be $(6.61\pm0.11\pm0.12)\%$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, the $e^+e^-\toΛ_c^+\barΛ_c^-$ Born cross sections and the effective form factors ($|G_{\rm eff}|$) at different energy points have been determined with the highest precision to date.

Measurements of the branching fractions of $χ_{cJ}\to 2K^+ 2K^- ω$ and $ϕK^+ K^- ω$ decays

Using a data sample of $(2712.4 \pm 14.3) \times 10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we report the first observation of the decays $χ_{cJ}\to 2K^+ 2K^- ω$ and $χ_{cJ}\to ϕK^{+}K^{-} ω$ ($J = 0,1,2$) via the radiative transitions $ψ(3686) \to γχ_{cJ}$. The branching fractions of these decays are measured for the first time, and the statistical significance for each signal exceeds $10σ$.

Observation of Polarization and Determination of Electric and Magnetic Moments of $Ξ(1530)^0$ in $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$

Using the data sample of $2.7\times10^9$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we present an observation of the $Ξ(1530)^0$ polarization in the decay $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$ with a significance larger than $20σ$ compared with all other tested hypotheses. The helicity amplitudes for the process $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$ and the moduli of form factors including electric charge, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic octupole are measured for the first time by performing an angular distribution analysis. Additionally, the polarization correlations between $Ξ(1530)^0$ and $\barΞ(1530)^0$ are measured.

Search for a dark baryon in the $Ξ^-\rightarrowπ^-+{\rm invisible}$ decay

A search for a dark baryon is performed for the first time in the two-body decay $Ξ^-\rightarrowπ^-+{\rm invisible}$ using $(10.087\pm0.044)\times10^{9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097\,\mbox{GeV}$ with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is observed, and the 90% (95%) confidence level upper limits on the branching fraction $B(Ξ^-\rightarrowπ^-+{\rm invisible})$ are determined to be $4.2\times10^{-5}$ ($5.2\times10^{-5}$), $6.9\times10^{-5}$ ($8.4\times10^{-5}$), $6.5\times10^{-4}$ ($7.6\times10^{-4}$), $1.1\times10^{-4}$ ($1.3\times10^{-4}$) and $4.5\times10^{-5}$ ($5.5\times10^{-5}$), under the dark baryon mass hypotheses of 1.07$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$, 1.10$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$, $m_Λ$ (1.116$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$), 1.13$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$, and 1.16$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$, respectively. The constraints obtained on the Wilson coefficients $C_{u s, s}^L$ and $C_{u s, s}^R$ are more stringent than the previous limits derived from the LHC searches for the colored mediators.

Measurement of branching fractions of $Λ_{c}^{+}$ decays to $Σ^{+} η$ and $Σ^{+} η'$

By analyzing $e^+e^-$ collision data taken at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $\rm 4.5~fb^{-1}$, we study the hadronic decays $Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Σ^{+} η$ and $Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Σ^{+} η^{\prime}$ using the single-tag method. The branching fraction ratio of $Λ_{c}^+ \rightarrow Σ^+ η$ relative to $Λ_{c}^+ \rightarrow Σ^+ π^0$ is determined to be $0.305 \pm 0.046_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.007_{\rm syst.}$, and that of $Λ_{c}^+ \rightarrow Σ^+ η'$ relative to $Λ_{c}^+ \rightarrow Σ^+ ω$ is $0.336 \pm 0.094_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.037_{\rm syst.}$. The ratio of $\frac{\mathcal{B}\left(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Σ^{+} η'\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Σ^{+} η\right)} $ is determined to be $1.73 \pm 0.22_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.16_{\rm syst.}$. These results enrich our knowledge of charmed baryon decays.

Cyanopolyyne line survey towards high-mass star-forming regions with TMRT

We carried out a cyanopolyyne line survey towards a large sample of HMSFRs using the Shanghai Tian Ma 65m Radio Telescope (TMRT). Our sample consisted of 123 targets taken from the TMRT C band line survey. It included three kinds of sources, namely those with detection of the 6.7 GHz CH3OH maser alone, with detection of the radio recombination line (RRL) alone, and with detection of both (hereafter referred to as Maser-only, RRL-only, and Maser-RRL sources, respectively). We detected HC3N in 38 sources, HC5N in 11 sources, and HC7N in G24.790+0.084, with the highest detection rate being found for Maser-RRL sources and a very low detection rate found for RRL-only sources. Their column densities were derived using the rotational temperature measured from the NH3 lines. And we constructed and fitted the far-infrared (FIR) spectral energy distributions. Based on these, we derive their dust temperatures, H2 column densities, and abundances of cyanopolyynes relative to H2. The detection rate, the column density, and the relative abundance of HC3N increase from Maser-only to Maser-RRL sources and decrease from Maser-RRL to RRL-only sources. This trend is consistent with the proposed evolutionary trend of HC3N under the assumption that our Maser-only, Maser-RRL, and RRL-only sources correspond to massive young stellar objects, ultra-compact HII regions, and normal classical HII regions, respectively. Furthermore, a statistical analysis of the integrated line intensity and column density of HC3N and shock-tracing molecules (SiO, H2CO) enabled us to find positive correlations between them. This suggests that HC3N may be another tracer of shocks, and should therefore be the subject of further observations and corresponding chemical simulations. Our results indirectly support the idea that the neutral--neutral reaction between C2H2 and CN is the dominant formation pathway of HC3N.

Discovery of ammonia (9,6) masers in two high-mass star-forming regions

Molecular maser lines are signposts of high-mass star formation, probing excitation and kinematics of very compact regions in the close environment of young stellar objects and providing useful targets for trigonometric parallax measurements. Only a few NH$_{3}$ (9,6) masers were known so far, and their origin is still poorly understood. Here we aim to find new NH$_{3}$ (9,6) masers to provide a better observational basis to study their role in high-mass star-forming regions. We carried out NH$_{3}$ (9,6) observations toward Cepheus A and G34.26$+$0.15 with the Effelsberg-100 m telescope and the Karl G. Janksy Very Large Array. We discovered new NH$_{3}$ (9,6) masers in Cep A and G34.26$+$0.15, which increases the number of high-mass star-forming regions hosting NH$_{3}$ (9,6) masers from five to seven. Long term monitoring (20 months) at Effelsberg shows that the intensity of the (9,6) maser in G34.26$+$0.15 is decreasing, while the Cep A maser remains stable. Compared to the Effelsberg data and assuming linear variations between the epochs of observation, the JVLA data indicate no missing flux. This suggests that the NH$_3$ (9,6) emission arises from single compact emission regions that are not resolved by the interferometric measurements. As JVLA imaging shows, the NH$_{3}$ (9,6) emission in Cep A originates from a sub-arcsecond sized region, slightly to the west of the peak position of the 1.36\,cm continuum object, HW2. In G34.26$+$0.15, three NH$_{3}$ (9,6) maser spots are observed: one is close to the head of the cometary ultracompact \h2 region C and the other two are emitted from a compact region to the west of the hypercompact \h2 region A. The newly found (9,6) masers appear to be related to outflows. Higher angular resolution of JVLA and VLBI observations are needed to provide more accurate positions and constraints for pumping scenarios.

Interstellar Nitrogen Isotope Ratios: New NH3 Data from the Galactic Center out to the Perseus Arm

Our aim is to measure the interstellar 14N/15N ratio across the Galaxy, to establish a standard data set on interstellar ammonia isotope ratios, and to provide new constraints on the Galactic chemical evolution. The (J, K ) = (1, 1), (2, 2), and (3, 3) lines of 14NH3 and 15NH3 were observed with the Shanghai Tianma 65 m radio telescope (TMRT) and the Effelsberg 100 m telescope toward a large sample of 210 sources. One hundred fourty-one of these sources were detected by the TMRT in 14NH3. Eight of them were also detected in 15NH3. For 10 of the 36 sources with strong NH3 emission, the Effelsberg 100 m telescope successfully detected their 15NH3(1, 1) lines, including 3 sources (G081.7522, W51D, and Orion-KL) with detections by the TMRT telescope. Thus, a total of 15 sources are detected in both the 14NH3 and 15NH3 lines. Line and physical parameters for these 15 sources are derived, including optical depths, rotation and kinetic temperatures, and total column densities. 14N/15N isotope ratios were determined from the 14NH3/15NH3 abundance ratios. The isotope ratios obtained from both telescopes agree for a given source within the uncertainties, and no dependence on heliocentric distance and kinetic temperature is seen. 14N/15N ratios tend to increase with galactocentric distance, confirming a radial nitrogen isotope gradient. This is consistent with results from recent Galactic chemical model calculations, including the impact of superasymptotic giant branch stars and novae.

A systematic observational study on Galactic interstellar ratio 18O/17O: I. C18O and C17O J=1-0 data analysis

The interstellar oxygen isotopic ratio of 18O/17O can reflect the relative amount of the secular enrichment by ejecta from high-mass versus intermediate-mass stars. Previous observations found a Galactic gradient of 18O/17O, i.e., low ratios in the Galactic center and large values in the Galactic disk, which supports the insideout formation scenario of our Galaxy. However, the observed objects are not many and, in particular, not so many at large galactocentric distances. Thus we started a systematic study on Galactic interstellar 18O/17O, through observations of C18O and C17O multi-transition lines toward a large sample of 286 sources (at least one order of magnitude larger than previous ones), from the Galactic center region to the far outer Galaxy (~22 kpc). Here we present our observations of J=1-0 lines of C18O and C17O, with the ARO12m and the IRAM 30m telescope. We detected successfully both C18O and C17O 1-0 lines for 34 sources among our IRAM30m sample of 50 targets and for 166 sources among our ARO12m sample of 260 targets. The C18O optical depth effect on our ratio results, evaluated by fitting results of C17O spectra with hyperfine components and our RADEX non-LTE model calculation for the strongest source, was found to be insignificant. Beam dilution does not seem to be a problem either, which was supported by the fact of no systematic variation between the isotopic ratio and the heliocentric distance, and consistent measured ratios from two telescopes for most of those detected sources. Our results, though there are still very few detections made for sources in the outer Galaxy, confirm the apparent 18O/17O gradient of 18O/17O = (0.10+-0.03)R_GC+(2.95+-0.30), with a Pearson's rank correlation coefficient R = 0.69. This is supported by the newest Galactic chemical evolution model including the impact of massive stellar rotators and novae.

Galactic interstellar sulfur isotopes: A radial $^{32}$S$/$$^{34}$S gradient?

We present observations of $^{12}$C$^{32}$S, $^{12}$C$^{34}$S, $^{13}$C$^{32}$S and $^{12}$C$^{33}$S J=2$-$1 lines toward a large sample of massive star forming regions by using the Arizona Radio Observatory 12-m telescope and the IRAM\,30-m. Taking new measurements of the carbon $^{12}$C/$^{13}$C ratio, the $^{32}$S$/$$^{34}$S isotope ratio was determined from the integrated $^{13}$C$^{32}$S/$^{12}$C$^{34}$S line intensity ratios for our sample. Our analysis shows a $^{32}$S$/$$^{34}$S gradient from the inner Galaxy out to a galactocentric distance of 12\,kpc. An unweighted least-squares fit to our data yields $^{32}$S$/$$^{34}$S = (1.56 $\pm$ 0.17)$\rm D_{\rm GC}$ + (6.75 $\pm$ 1.22) with a correlation coefficient of 0.77. Errors represent 1$σ$ standard deviations. Testing this result by (a) excluding the Galactic center region, (b) excluding all sources with C$^{34}$S opacities $>$ 0.25, (c) combining our data and old data from previous study, and (d) using different sets of carbon isotope ratios leads to the conclusion that the observed $^{32}$S$/$$^{34}$S gradient is not an artefact but persists irrespective of the choice of the sample and carbon isotope data. A gradient with rising $^{32}$S$/$$^{34}$S values as a function of galactocentric radius implies that the solar system ratio should be larger than that of the local interstellar medium. With the new carbon isotope ratios we obtain indeed a local $^{32}$S$/$$^{34}$S isotope ratio about 10$\%$ below the solar system one, as expected in case of decreasing $^{32}$S$/$$^{34}$S ratios with time and increased amounts of stellar processing. However, taking older carbon isotope ratios based on a lesser amount of data, such a decrease is not seen. No systematic variation of $^{34}$S$/$$^{33}$S ratios along galactocentric distance was found.

Giant pressure-enhancement of multiferroicity in CuBr2

Type-II multiferroic materials, in which ferroelectric polarization is induced by inversion non-symmetric magnetic order, promise new and highly efficient multifunctional applications based on the mutual control of magnetic and electric properties. Although this phenomenon has to date been limited to low temperatures, here we report a giant pressure-dependence of the multiferroic critical temperature in CuBr$_2$. At 4.5 GPa, $T_\mathrm{C}$ is enhanced from 73.5 to 162 K, to our knowledge the highest value yet reported for a non-oxide type-II multiferroic. This growth shows no sign of saturating and the dielectric loss remains small under these high pressures. We establish the structure under pressure and demonstrate a 60\% increase in the two-magnon Raman energy scale up to 3.6 GPa. First-principles structural and magnetic energy calculations provide a quantitative explanation in terms of dramatically pressure-enhanced interactions between CuBr$_2$ chains. These large, pressure-tuned magnetic interactions motivate structural control in cuprous halides as a route to applied high-temperature multiferroicity.

Spin frustration and magnetic ordering in triangular lattice antiferromagnet Ca$_3$CoNb$_2$O$_9$

We synthesized a quasi-two-dimensional distorted triangular lattice antiferromagnet Ca$_3$CoNb$_2$O$_9$, in which the effective spin of Co$^{2+}$ is 1/2 at low temperatures, whose magnetic properties were studied by dc susceptibility and magnetization techniques. The x-ray diffraction confirms the quality of our powder samples. The large Weiss constant $θ_{CW}\sim$ $-55$ K and the low Neel temperature($T_N\sim$ 1.45 K) give a frustration factor $f$ ($=\midθ_{CW}/T_N \mid$) $\approx$ 38, suggesting that Ca$_3$CoNb$_2$O$_9$ resides in strong frustration regime. Slightly below $T_N$, deviation between the susceptibility data under zero-field cooling (ZFC) and field cooling (FC) is observed. A new magnetic state with 1/3 of the saturate magnetization $M_s$ is suggested in the magnetization curve at 0.46 K. Our study indicates that Ca$_3$CoNb$_2$O$_9$ is an interesting material to investigate magnetism in triangular lattice antiferromagnets with weak anisotropy.

Simultaneous optimization of spin fluctuations and superconductivity under pressure in an iron-based superconductor

We present a high-pressure NMR study of the overdoped iron pnictide superconductor NaFe$_{0.94}$Co$_{0.06}$As. The low-energy antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations in the normal state, manifest as the Curie-Weiss upturn in the spin-lattice relaxation rate $1/^{75}T_1T$, first increase strongly with pressure but fall again at $P > P_{\rm opt} =$ 2.2 GPa. Neither long-ranged magnetic order nor a structural phase transition is encountered up to 2.5 GPa. The superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ shows a pressure-dependence identical to the spin fluctuations. Our observations demonstrate that magnetic correlations and superconductivity are optimized simultaneously as a function of the electronic structure, thereby supporting very strongly a magnetic origin of superconductivity.

NMR study of superconductivity and spin fluctuations in hole-doped superconductor Ca1-xNaxFe2As2 (Tc =32 K)

We report both 23Na and 75As NMR studies on hole-doped Ca1-xNaxFe2As2 superconducting single crystals (x\approx 0.67) with Tc =32 K. Singlet superconductivity is suggested by a sharp drop of the Knight shift 75K below Tc. The spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T1 does not show the Slichter-Hebel coherence peak, which suggests an unconventional pairing. The penetration depth is estimated to be 0.24 μm at T=2 K. 1/75T1T shows an anisotropic behavior and a prominent low-temperature upturn, which indicates strong low-energy antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations and supports a magnetic origin of superconductivity.

Radio properties of H2O maser host galaxies

The 6 cm and 20 cm radio continuum properties of all 85 galaxies with reported 22 GHz H2O maser emission and luminosity distance D > 0.5 Mpc are studied. For the total of 55 targets for which both 6 cm and 20 cm measurements exist and for the subsample of 42 sources with masers related to active galactic nuclei (AGN), a spectral index could be determined from an assumed power-law dependence. The mean value of the resulting spectral index is in both cases 0.66+-0.07. Comparing radio properties of the maser galaxies with a sample of Seyferts without detected H2O maser, we find that (1) the spectral indices agree within the error limits, and (2) maser host galaxies have higher nuclear radio continuum luminosities, exceeding those of the comparison sample by factors of order 5. Only considering the subsample of galaxies with masers associated with AGN, there seems to be a trend toward rising maser luminosity with nuclear radio luminosity (both at 6 cm and 20 cm). However, when accounting for the Malmquist effect, the correlation weakens to a level, which is barely significant. Overall, the study indicates that nuclear radio luminosity is a suitable indicator to guide future AGN maser searches and to enhance detection rates, which are otherwise quite low (<10%).

Structural and Magnetic Properties of the Layered Manganese Oxychalcogenides:(LaO)$_2$Mn$_2$Se$_2$O and (BaF)$_2$Mn$_2$Se$_2$O

The new layered manganese oxychalcogenides (LaO)$_2$Mn$_2$Se$_2$O and (BaF)$_2$Mn$_2$Se$_2$O, isostructural to (LaO)$_2$Fe$_2$Se$_2$O, were synthesized by using solid state reaction. The single crystals of former compound were also successfully grown by using high temperature fusion method. The polycrytalline samples showed the insulating behavior, with the activation energy gaps of about 278 meV and 416 meV for (LaO)$_2$Mn$_2$Se$_2$O and (BaF)$_2$Mn$_2$Se$_2$O, respectively. The magnetic susceptibility indicated an antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition at around 160K and strong anisotropic magnetic properties below T$_N$ for the former compound, which suggests a long-range canted AFM ordering. A broad maximum of the susceptibility can be observed for the two compound at high temperatures, say 360 K and 210 K respectively, suggesting that strong magnetic correlation gives rise to low-dimensional AFM or short-range ordering at high temperatures in these rare transition metal oxychalcogenides with a frustrated AFM checkerboard spin lattice.

75As NMR study of single crystals of the heavily overdoped pnictide superconductors Ba{1-x}KxFe2As2 (x = 0.7 and 1)

We performed $^{75}$As NMR studies on two overdoped high-quality Ba$_{1-x}$K$_{x}$Fe$_2$As$_2$ (x=0.7 and 1.0) single crystals. In the normal states, we found a dramatic increase of the spin-lattice relaxation ($1/^{75}T_1$) from the x=0.7 to the x=1.0 samples. In KFe$_2$As$_2$, the ratio of $1/^{75}T_1TK_n^2$, where $^{75}K_n$ is the Knight shift, increases as temperature drops. These results indicate the existence of a new type of spin fluctuations in KFe$_2$As$_2$ which is accustomed to being treated as a simple Fermi liquid. In the superconducting state, we observe a step-like feature in the temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation of the x=0.7 sample, which supports a two-gap superconductivity as the underdoped materials. However, the temperature scalings of $1/^{75}T_1$ below Tc in the overdoped samples are significantly different from those in the under or optimal doped ones. A power-law scaling behavior $1/^{75}T_1T\sim T^{0.5}$ is observed, which indicates universal strong low energy excitations in the overdoped hole-type superconductors.

On the nuclear obscuration of H2O maser galaxies

To shed light onto the circumnuclear environment of 22 GHz H2O maser galaxies, we have analyzed some of their multi-wavelength properties, including the far infrared luminosity (FIR), the luminosity of the [O III]\lambda5007 emission line, the nuclear X-ray luminosity, and the equivalent width of the neutral iron Ka emission line (EW (Ka)). Our statistical analysis includes a total of 85 sources, most of them harboring an active galactic nucleus (AGN). There are strong anti-correlations between EW (Ka) and two "optical thickness parameters", i.e. the ratios of the X-ray luminosity versus the presumably more isotropically radiated [O III] and far infrared (FIR) luminosities. Based on these anti-correlations, a set of quantitative criteria, EW (Ka) > 300eV, L_{2-10keV} < 2L_[O III] and L_{FIR} > 600L_{2-10keV} can be established for Compton-thick nuclear regions. 18 H2O maser galaxies belong to this category. There are no obvious correlations between the EW (Ka), the [O III] luminosity and the isotropic H2O maser luminosity. When comparing samples of Seyfert 2s with and without detected H2O maser lines, there seem to exist differences in EW (Ka) and the fraction of Compton-thick nuclei. This should be studied further. For AGN masers alone, there is no obvious correlation between FIR and H2O maser luminosities. However, including masers associated with star forming regions, a linear correlation is revealed. Overall, the extragalactic FIR-H2O data agree with the corresponding relation for Galactic maser sources, extrapolated by several orders of magnitude to higher luminosities.
