Matching of Fracture Functions for SIDIS in Target Fragmentation Region

In the target fragmentation region of Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering, the diffractively produced hadron has small transverse momentum. If it is at order of $Λ_{QCD}$, it prevents to make predictions with the standard collinear factorization. However, in this case, differential cross-sections can be predicted by the factorization with fracture functions, diffractive parton distributions. If the transverse momentum is much larger than $Λ_{QCD}$ but much smaller than $Q$ which is the virtuality of the virtual photon, both factorizations apply. In this case, fracture functions can be factorized with collinear parton distributions and fragmentation functions. We study the factorization up to twist-3 level and obtain gauge invariant results. They will be helpful for modeling fracture functions and useful for resummation of large logarithm of the transverse momentum appearing in collinear factorization.

QCD Factorization of Quasi Generalized Quark Distributions

We study the factorization of quasi generalized quark distributions with twist-2 generalized parton distributions. We use an approach which is different than that used in literature. Using the approach we derive the factorization relations of all quasi generalized quark distributions at one-loop. The contributions from twist-2 generalized gluon distributions are included. Our results apply not only to the quasi distributions of a spin-1/2 hadron but also to those of a hadron with any spin.

Twist-3 Double Spin Asymmetries in Drell-Yan Processes

We study double spin asymmetries in Drell-Yan processes in which one initial hadron is transversely polarized and another one is longitudinally polarized. The complete part of the hadronic tensor relevant to asymmetries is derived. This part consists of twist-2 and twist-3 parton distributions and is gauge invariant. We construct some observables which can be used to extract these parton distributions from experimental measurements.

Fracture Functions in Different Kinematic Regions and Their Factorizations

Fracture functions are parton distributions of an initial hadron in the presence of an almost collinear particle observed in the final state. They are important ingredients in QCD factorization for processes where a particle is produced diffractively. There are different fracture functions for a process in different kinematic regions. We take the production of a lepton pair combined with a diffractively produced particle in hadron collisions to discuss this. Those fracture functions can be factorized further if there are large energy scales involved. They can be factorized with twist-2 parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions. We perform one-loop calculations to illustrate the factorization in the case with the diffractively produced particle as a real photon. Evolution equations of different fracture functions are derived from our explicit calculations. They agree with expectations. These equations can be used for re-summations of large log terms in perturbative expansions.

QCD Factorization for Quarkonium Production in Hadron Collions at Low Transverse Momentum

Inclusive production of a quarkonium $η_{c,b}$ in hadron collisions at low transverse momentum can be used to extract various Transverse-Momentum-Dependent(TMD) gluon distributions of hadrons, provided the TMD factorization for the process holds. The factorization involving unpolarized TMD gluon distributions of unpolarized hadrons has been examined with on-shell gluons at one-loop level. In this work we study the factorization at one-loop level with diagram approach in the most general case, where all TMD gluon distributions at leading twist are involved. We find that the factorization holds and the perturbative effects are represented by one perturbative coefficient. Since the initial gluons from hadrons are off-shell in general, there exists the so-called super-leading region found recently. We find that the contributions from this region can come from individual diagrams at one-loop level, but they are cancelled in the sum. Our factorized result for the differential cross-section is explicitly gauge-invariant.

Twist-3 Contributions in Semi-Inclusive DIS with Transversely Polarized Target

We study semi-inclusive DIS with a transversely polarized target in the approach of collinear factorization. The effects related with the transverse polarization are at twist-3. We derive the complete result of twist-3 contributions to the relevant hadronic tensor at leading order of $α_s$, and construct correspondingly experimental observables. Measuring these observables will help to extract the twist-2 transversity distribution, twist-3 distributions and twist-3 fragmentation functions of the produced unpolarized hadron. A detailed comparison with the approach of transverse-momentum-dependent factorization is made.

Gauge Invariance and QCD Twist-3 Factorization for Single Spin Asymmetries

The collinear factorization at twist-3 for Drell-Yan processes is studied with the motivation to solve the discrepancy in literature about the single spin asymmetry in the lepton angular distribution, and to show how QCD gauge invariance is realized in the hadronic tensor. The obtained result here agrees with our early result derived with a totally different approach. In addition to the asymmetry we can construct another two observables to identify the spin effect. We show that the gauge invariance of different contributions in the hadronic tensor is made in different ways by summing the effects of gluon exchanges. More interestingly is that we can show that the virtual correction to one structure function of the hadronic tensor, hence to some weighted SSA observables, is completely determined by the quark form factor. This will simplify the calculation of higher order corrections. The corresponding result in semi-inclusive DIS is also given for the comparison with Drell-Yan processes.

Breakdown of QCD Factorization for P-Wave Quarkonium Production at Low Transverse Momentum

Quarkonium production at low transverse momentum in hadron collisions can be used to extract Transverse-Momentum-Dependent(TMD) gluon distribution functions, if TMD factorization holds there. We show that TMD factorization for the case of P-wave quarkonium with $J^{PC}=0^{++}, 2^{++}$ holds at one-loop level, but is violated beyond one-loop level. TMD factorization for other P-wave quarkonium is also violated already at one-loop.

QCD Corrections of All Structure Functions in Transverse Momentum Dependent Factorization for Drell-Yan Processes

We study the one-loop correction in Transverse-Momentum-Dependent(TMD) factorization for Drell-Yan processes at small transverse momentum of the lepton pair. We adopt the so-called subtractive approach, in which one can systematically construct contributions for subtracting long-distance effects represented by diagrams. The perturbative parts are obtained after the subtraction. We find that the perturbative coefficients of all structure functions in TMD factorization at leading twist are the same. The perturbative parts can also be studied with scattering of partons instead of hadrons. In this way, the factorization of many structure functions can only be examined by studying the scattering of multi-parton states, where there are many diagrams. These diagrams have no similarities to those treated in the subtractive approach. As an example, we use existing results of one structure function responsible for Single-Spin-Asymmetry, to show that these diagrams in the scattering of multi-parton states are equivalent to those treated in the subtractive approach after using Ward identity.

Transverse Momentum Dependent Factorization for Quarkonium Production at Low Transverse Momentum

Quarkonium production in hadron collisions at low transverse momentum $q_\perp \ll M$ with $M$ as the quarkonium mass can be used for probing transverse momentum dependent (TMD) gluon distributions. For this purpose, one needs to establish the TMD factorization for the process. We examine the factorization at the one-loop level for the production of $η_c$ or $η_b$. The perturbative coefficient in the factorization is determined at one-loop accuracy. Comparing the factorization derived at tree level and that beyond the tree level, a soft factor is, in general, needed to completely cancel soft divergences. We have also discussed possible complications of TMD factorization of p-wave quarkonium production.

Collinear Factorization for Single Transverse-Spin Asymmetry in Drell-Yan Processes

We study the scattering of a single parton state with a multi-parton state to derive the complete results of perturbative coefficient functions at leading order, which appear in the collinear factorization for Single transverse-Spin Asymmetry(SSA) in Drell-Yan processes with a transversely polarized hadron in the initial state. We find that the factorization formula of SSA contains hard-pole-, soft-quark-pole- and soft-gluon-pole contributions. It is interesting to note that the leading order perturbative coefficient functions of soft-quark-pole- and soft-gluon-pole contributions are extracted from parton scattering amplitudes at one-loop, while the functions of hard-pole contributions are extracted from the tree level amplitudes at tree-level. Our method to derive the factorization of SSA is different than the existing one in literature. A comparison of our results with those obtained by other method is made.

QCD Evolutions of Twist-3 Chirality-Odd Operators

We study the scale dependence of twist-3 distributions defined with chirality-odd quark-gluon operators. To derive the scale dependence we explicitly calculate these distributions of multi-parton states instead of a hadron. Taking one-loop corrections into account we obtain the leading evolution kernel in the most general case. In some special cases the evolutions are simplified. We observe that the obtained kernel in general does not get simplified in the large-$N_c$ limit in contrast to the case of those twist-3 distributions defined only with chirality-odd quark operators. In the later, the simplification is significant.

Scale Dependence of Twist-3 Quark-Gluon Operators for Single Spin Asymmetries

We derive the scale dependence of twist-3 quark-gluon operators, or ETQS matrix elements, at one-loop. These operators are used to factorize transverse single spin asymmetries, which are studied intensively both in experiment and theory. The scale dependence of two special cases are particularly interesting. One is of soft-gluon-pole matrix elements, another is of soft-quark-pole matrix elements. From our results the evolutions in the two cases can be obtained. A comparison with existing results of soft-gluon-pole matrix elements is made.

Single Spin Asymmetry in Lepton Angular Distribution of Drell-Yan Processes

We study the single spin asymmetry in the lepton angular distribution of Drell-Yan processes in the frame work of collinear factorization. The asymmetry has been studied in the past and different results have been obtained. In our study we take an approach different than that used in the existing study. We explicitly calculate the transverse-spin dependent part of the differential cross-section with suitable parton states. Because the spin is transverse, one has to take multi-parton states for the purpose. Our result agrees with one of the existing results. A possible reason for the disagreement with others is discussed.

$N\bar N$ Scattering at NLO Order in An Effective Theory

We have proposed to use an effective theory to describe interactions of an $N\bar N$-system. The effective theory can be constructed in analogy to the existing effective theory for an $NN$-system. In this work we study the next-to-leading order correction to $N\bar N$ scattering near the threshold in the effective theory. We find that the experimental data can be well described with the effective theory.

Soft-Gluon-Pole Contribution in Single Transverse-Spin Asymmetries of Drell-Yan Processes

We use multi-parton states to examine the leading order collinear factorization of single transverse-spin asymmetries in Drell-Yan processes. Twist-3 operators are involved in the factorization. We find that the so-called soft-gluon-pole contribution in the factorization must exist in order to make the factorization correct. This contribution comes from the corresponding cross-section at one-loop, while the hard-pole contribution in the factorization comes from the cross-section at tree-level. Although the two contributions come from results at different orders, their perturbative coefficient functions in the factorization are at the same order. This is in contrast to factorizations only involving twist-2 operators. The soft-gluon-pole contribution found in this work is in agreement with that derived in a different way. For the hard-pole contributions we find an extra contribution from an extra parton process contributing to the asymmetries. We also solve a part of discrepancy in evolutions of the twist-3 operator. The method presented here for analyzing the factorization can be generalized to other processes and can be easily used for studying factorizations at higher orders, because the involved calculations are of standard scattering amplitudes.

Glauber Gluons in Soft Collinear Effective Theory and Factorization of Drell-Yan Processes

Glauber gluons in Drell-Yan processes are soft gluons with the transverse momenta much larger than their momentum components along the directions of initial hadrons. Their existence has been a serious challenge in proving the factorization of Drell-Yan processes. The recently proposed soft collinear effect theory of QCD can provide a transparent way to show factorizations for a class of processes, but it does not address the effect of glauber gluons. In this letter we first confirm the existence of glauber gluons through an example. We then add glauber gluons into the effective theory and study their interaction with other particles. In the framework of the effective theory with glauber gluons we are able to show that the effects of glauber gluons in Drell-Yan processes are canceled and the factorization holds in the existence of glauber gluons. Our work completes the proof or argument of factorization of Drell-Yan process in the framework of the soft collinear effective theory.

Near Threshold Enhancement of p pbar System and p pbar Elastic Scattering

The observed enhancement of $p\bar p$-production near the threshold in radiative decays of $J/ψ$ and $e^+e^-$-annihilations can be explained with final state interactions among the produced $N\bar N$ system, where the enhancement is essentially determined by $N\bar N$ elastic scattering amplitudes. We propose to use an effective theory for interactions in a $N\bar N$ system near its threshold. The effective theory is similar to the well-known one for interactions in a $NN$ system but with distinctions. It is interesting to note that in the effective theory some corrections to scattering amplitudes at tree-level can systematically be summed into a simple form. These corrections are from rescattering processes. With these corrected amplitudes we are able to describe the enhancement near the threshold in radiative decays of $J/ψ$ and $e^+e^-$-annihilations, and the $p\bar p$ elastic scattering near the threshold.

Partonic State and Single Transverse Spin Asymmetries in Semi Inclusive DIS

Using partonic states we verify the transverse momentum dependent factorization for single transverse spin asymmetries in semi inclusive DIS at leading but nontrivial order of alpha_s. The factorization has been previously derived in a formal way by using diagram expansion at hadron level. We find with our partonic results that two relevant structure functions satisfy the factorization. Our results also satisfy the collinear factorization but with the perturbative coefficient different than that derived formally.

Single Transverse Spin Asymmetries at Parton Level

Two factorization approaches have been proposed for single transverse spin asymmetries. One is the collinear factorization, another is the transverse-momentum-dependent factorization. They have been previously derived in a formal way by using diagram expansion at hadron level. If the two factorizations hold or can be proven, they should also hold when we replace hadrons with parton states. We examine these two factorizations at parton level with massless partons. It is nontrivial to generate these asymmetries at parton level with massless partons because the asymmetries require helicity-flip and nonzero absorptive parts in scattering amplitudes. By constructing suitable parton states with massless partons we derive the two factorizations for the asymmetry in Drell-Yan processes. It is found from our results that the collinear factorization derived at parton level is not the same as that derived at hadron level. Our results with massless partons confirm those derived with single massive parton state in our previous works.

Partonic State and Single Transverse Spin Asymmetry in Drell-Yan Process

Single transverse-spin asymmetries have been studied intensively both in experiment and theory. Theoretically, two factorization approaches have been proposed. One is by using transverse-momentum-dependent factorization and the asymmetry comes from the so called Sivers function. Another is by using collinear factorization where the nonperturbative effect is parameterized by a twist-3 hadronic matrix element. However, the factorized formulas for the asymmetries in the two approaches are derived at hadron level formally by diagram expansion, where one works with various parton density matrices of hadrons. If the two factorizations hold, they should also hold at parton level. We examine this for Drell-Yan processes by replacing hadrons with partons. By calculating the asymmetry, Sivers function and the twist-3 matrix element at nontrivial leading order of $α_s$, we find that we can reproduce the result of the transverse-momentum-dependent factorization. But we can only verify the result of the collinear factorization partly. Two formally derived relations between Sivers function and the twist-3 matrix element are also examined with negative results.

On Unique Predictions for Single Spin Azimuthal Asymmetry

Theoretically there are two approaches to predict single spin azimuthal asymmetries. One is to take transverse momenta of partons into account by using transverse momentum dependent parton distributions, while another is to take asymmetries as a twist-3 effect. The nonperturbative effects in these approaches are parameterized with different matrix elements and predictions can be different. Recently, gauge invariant definitions of transverse momentum dependent parton distributions were derived. With these definitions it can be shown that there are relations between nonperturbative matrix elements in two approaches. These relations may enable us to unify two approaches and to have unique predictions for single spin azimuthal asymmetries. In this letter we derive these relations by using time-reversal symmetry and show that even with these relations the single spin azimuthal asymmetry in Drell-Yan process is predicted differently in different approaches.

CP Test in J/Psi -> gamma phi phi Decay

We propose to test CP symmetry in the decay $\jp\to γϕϕ$, for which large data sample exists at BESII, and a data sample of $10^{10}$ $J/ψ$'s will be collected with BESIII and CLEO-C program. We suggest some CP asymmetries in this decay mode for CP test. Assuming that CP violation is introduced by the electric- and chromo-dipole moment of charm quark, these CP asymmetries can be predicted by using valence quark models. Our work shows a possible way to get information about the electric- and chromo-dipole moment of charm quark, which is little known. Our results show that with the current data sample of $J/ψ$, electric- and chromo-dipole moment can be probed at order of $10^{-14}e cm$. In the near future with a $10^{10}$ data sample, these moments can be probed at order of $10^{-16}e cm$.

Soft Gluon Approach for Diffractive Photoproduction of J/psi

We study diffractive photoproduction of $J/ψ$ by taking the charm quark as a heavy quark. A description of nonperturbative effect related to $J/ψ$ can be made by using NRQCD. In the forward region of the kinematics, the interaction between the $c\bar c$-pair and the initial hadron is due to exchange of soft gluons. The effect of the exchange can be studied by using the expansion in the inverse of the quark mass $m_c$. At the leading order we find that the nonperturbative effect related to the initial hadron is represented by a matrix element of field strength operators, which are separated in the moving direction of $J/ψ$ in the space-time. The S-matrix element is then obtained without using perturbative QCD and the results are not based on any model. Corrections to the results can be systematically added. Keeping the dominant contribution of the S-matrix element in the large energy limit we find that the imaginary part of the S-matrix element is related to the gluon distribution for $x\to 0$ with a reasonable assumption, the real part can be obtained with another approximation or with dispersion relation. Our approach is different than previous approaches and also our results are different than those in these approaches. The differences are discussed in detail. A comparison with experiment is also made and a qualitative agreement is found.

Relativistic Corrections for Plarized J/Ψ-Production in b-quark decay

We analyse the structure of relativistic corrections in the inclusive production of polarized $J/Ψ$ from b-quark decay. The analysis is performed not only for the production channel in which the $c\bar c$ pair is a color sinlet, but also for the channels in which the $c\bar c$ is a color octet. We find that the correction in the color-singlet channel at the tree-level is completely determined by the decay constant of $J/Ψ$, while in the color-octet channels the corrections are characterized by three matrix elements defined in NRQCD, whose numerical values are unknown. We discuss the impact of these corrections on the polarized $J/Ψ$% -production, and the impact is so significant that the predictions based on the analysis for the considered process may be unreliable. Finally, we propose an integrated spin observable to measure the polarization of $J/Ψ$%

Semi-Inclusive B\to K(K^*) X Decays with Initial Bound State Effects

The effects of initial $b$ quark bound state for the semi-inclusive decays $B\to K(K^*) X$ are studied using light cone expansion and heavy quark effective theory methods. We find that the initial bound state effects on the branching ratios and CP asymmetries are small. In the light cone expansion approach, the CP-averaged branching ratios are increased by about 2% with respect to the free $b$-quark decay. For $\bar B^0 \to K^- (K^{*-}) X$, the CP-averaged branching ratios are sensitive to the phase $γ$ and the CP asymmetry can be as large as 7% (14%), whereas for $B^-\to \bar K^0 (\bar K^{*0})X$ the CP-averaged branching ratios are not sensitive to $γ$ and the CP asymmetries are small ($< 1%$). The CP-averaged branching ratios are predicted to be in the ranges $(0.53 \sim 1.5)\times 10^{-4}$ [$(0.25 \sim 2.0)\times 10^{-4}$] for $\bar B^0 \to K^- (K^{*-})X$ and $(0.77 \sim 0.84)\times 10^{-4}$ [$(0.67 \sim 0.74)\times 10^{-4}$] for $B^-\to \bar K^0 (\bar K^{*0}) X$, depending on the value of the CP violating phase $γ$. In the heavy quark effective theory approach, we find that the branching ratios are decreased by about 10% and the CP asymmetries are not affected. These predictions can be tested in the near future.

Perturbative Prediction for Parton Fragmentation into Heavy Hadron

By expanding functions of parton fragmentation into a heavy hadron in the inverse of the heavy quark mass $m_Q$ we attempt to factorize them into perturbative- and nonperturbative parts. In our approach the nonperturbative parts can be defined as matrix elements in heavy quark effective theory, the shape of the functions is predicted by perturbative QCD. In this work we neglect effect at order of $m_Q^{-2}$ and calculate the perturbative parts at one-loop level for heavy quark- and gluon fragmentation. We compare our results from leading log approximation with experimental results from $e^+e^-$ colliders and find a deviation below or at 10% level. Adding effect of higher order in $α_s$ it can be expected to reduce the deviation. The size of matrix elements appearing at the order we consider for several types of heavy hadrons is determined.

Gluon Fragmentation into $^3P_J$ Quarkonium

The functions of the gluon fragmentation into $^3P_J$ quarkonium are calculated to order $α_s^2$. With the recent progress in analysing quarkonium systems in QCD we show explicitly how the socalled divergence in the limit of the zero-binding energy, which is related to $P$-wave quarkonia, is treated correctly in the case of fragmentation functions. The obtained fragmentation functions satisfy explicitly at the order of $α_s^2$ the Altarelli-Parisi equation and when $z\rightarrow 0$ they behave as $z^{-1}$ as expected. Some comments on the previous results are made.

Quark Fragmentation into ^3P_J Quarkonium

We calculate the functions of parton fragmentation into $^3P_J$ quarkonium at order $α_s ^2$, where the parton can be a heavy or light quark. The obtained functions explicitly satisfy the Altarelli-Parisi equation and they are divergent, behaving as $z^{-1}$ near $z=0$. However, if one choses the renormalization scale as twice of the heavy quark mass, the fragmentation functions are regular over the whole range of $z$.

CP Violating Effects in $e^+e^-\rightarrow ZH$ and Their Optimization

We consider the possibilities of testing CP conservation in the process $e^+e^- \rightarrow ZH$. The easiest is to measure the forward-backward asymmetry of the $Z$ boson, a nonzero value of which signals CP violation. The effects of CP violation are predicted in the two Higgs doublet model. We show here that a choise of optimal observables can improve the possibility of observing CP violation. Although the number of events is not large, useful information about CP violating parameters can be extracted.

Transverse Polarization of Top Quarks Produced at a Photon-Photon Collider

At future $γγ$ colliders copious production of $t \bar{t}$ pairs is possible. This would allow a detailed investigation of the interactions involving the top quark. We propose some orrelations which are sensitive to $t \bar{t}$ final state interactions and we compute the QCD and standard model Higgs boson contributions to these correlations. QCD induced transverse polarization of top quarks is found to be sizeable and measurable at a high-energy $e^+e^-$ collider with an integrated luminosity of 10 $({\rm fb})^{-1}$ which is converted into a photon collider by backscattering of laser photons.

CP Test in the W Pair Production via Photon Fusion at NLC

We study the possibility to test CP invariance in the $W^+W^-$ production via photon fusion at NLC. The predictions of the CP violation effects are made within two Higgs doublet extensions of the minimal standard model, where CP violation is introduced by a neutral Higgs exchange in s channel in our case. The width effect in the Higgs propagator on the CP violation effects is studied in detail. The CP violation effects can be measured in some parameter region of the extensions.

CP Violating Form Factors for Three Gauge Boson Vertex in the Two Higgs Doublet and Left-Right symmetric Models

In this paper we calculate the one loop contributions to the CP violating three gauge boson couplings in two-Higgs doublet and Left--Right symmetric models. In the two-Higgs doublet model only a P conserving and CP violating coupling is generated, and it can be large as $10^{-3}$. In the Left--Right symmetric model both P conserving and violating couplings are generated. Due to constraints on the $W_L$--$W_R$ mixing, these couplings are small.
