Multilocal bosonization

We present a bilocal isomorphism between the algebra generated by a single real twisted boson field and the algebra of the boson $βγ$ ghost system. As a consequence of this twisted vertex algebra isomorphism we show that each of these two algebras possesses both an untwisted and a twisted Heisenberg bosonic currents, as well as three separate families of Virasoro fields. We show that this bilocal isomorphism generalizes to an isomorphism between the algebra generated by the twisted boson field with $2n$ points of localization and the algebra of the $2n$ symplectic bosons.

Boson-fermion correspondence of type D-A and multi-local Virasoro representations on the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$

We construct the bosonization of the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ of a single neutral fermion by using a 2-point local Heisenberg field. We decompose the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ as a direct sum of irreducible highest weight modules for the Heisenberg algebra $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbb{Z}}$, and thus we show that under the Heisenberg $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbb{Z}}$ action the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ of the single neutral fermion is isomorphic to the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes 1}}$ of a pair of charged free fermions, thereby constructing the boson-fermion correspondence of type D-A. As a corollary we obtain the Jacobi identity equating the graded dimension formulas utilizing both the Heisenberg and the Virasoro gradings on $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$. We construct a family of 2-point-local Virasoro fields with central charge $-2+12λ-12λ^2, \ λ\in \mathbb{C}$, on the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$. We construct a $W_{1+\infty}$ representation on $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ and show that under the $W_{1+\infty}$ action $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ is again isomorphic to $\mathit{F^{\otimes 1}}$.

Virasoro representations with central charges $\frac{1}{2}$ and 1 on the real neutral fermion Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$

We study a family of fermionic oscillator representations of the Virasoro algebra via 2-point-local Virasoro fields on the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ of a neutral (real) fermion. We obtain the decomposition of $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ as a direct sum of irreducible highest weight Virasoro modules with central charge $c=1$. As a corollary we obtain the decomposition of the irreducible highest weight Virasoro modules with central charge $c=\frac{1}{2}$ into irreducible highest weight Virasoro modules with central charge $c=1$. As an application we show how positive sum (fermionic) character formulas for the Virasoro modules of charge $c=\frac{1}{2}$ follow from these decompositions.

$N$-point locality for vertex operators: normal ordered products, operator product expansions, twisted vertex algebras

In this paper we study fields satisfying $N$-point locality and their properties. We obtain residue formulae for $N$-point local fields in terms of derivatives of delta functions and Bell polynomials. We introduce the notion of the space of descendants of $N$-point local fields which includes normal ordered products and coefficients of operator product expansions. We show that examples of $N$-point local fields include the vertex operators generating the boson-fermion correspondences of type B, C and D-A. We apply the normal ordered products of these vertex operators to the setting of the representation theory of the double-infinite rank Lie algebras $b_{\infty}, c_{\infty}, d_{\infty}$. Finally, we show that the field theory generated by $N$-point local fields and their descendants has a structure of a twisted vertex algebra.

Representations of $a_{\infty}$ and $d_{\infty}$ with central charge 1 on the single neutral fermion Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$

We construct a new representation of the infinite rank Lie algebra $a_{\infty}$ with central charge $c=1$ on the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ of a single neutral fermion. We show that $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ is a direct sum of irreducible integrable highest weight modules for $a_{\infty}$ with central charge $c=1$. We prove that as $a_{\infty}$ modules $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ is isomorphic to the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes 1}}$ of the charged free fermions. As a corollary we obtain the decompositions of certain irreducible highest weight modules for $d_{\infty}$ with central charge $c=\frac{1}{2}$ into irreducible highest weight modules for $d_{\infty}$ with central charge $c=1$.

Twisted vertex algebras, bicharacter construction and boson-fermion correspondences

The boson-fermion correspondences are an important phenomena on the intersection of several areas in mathematical physics: representation theory, vertex algebras and conformal field theory, integrable systems, number theory, cohomology. Two such correspondences are well known: the types A and B (and their super extensions). As a main result of this paper we present a new boson-fermion correspondence, of type D-A. Further, we define a new concept of twisted vertex algebra of order $N$, which generalizes super vertex algebra. We develop the bicharacter construction which we use for constructing classes of examples of twisted vertex algebras, as well as for deriving formulas for the operator product expansions (OPEs), analytic continuations and normal ordered products. By using the underlying Hopf algebra structure we prove general bicharacter formulas for the vacuum expectation values for three important groups of examples. We show that the correspondences of type B, C and D-A are isomorphisms of twisted vertex algebras.

Boson-fermion correspondence of type B and twisted vertex algebras

The boson-fermion correspondence of type A is an isomorphism between two super vertex algebras (and so has singularities in the operator product expansions only at $z = w$). The boson-fermion correspondence of type B plays similarly important role in many areas, including representation theory, integrable systems, random matrix theory and random processes. But the vertex operators describing it have singularities in their operator product expansions at both $z = w$ and $z = -w$, and thus need a more general notion than that of a super vertex algebra. In this paper we present such a notion: the concept of a twisted vertex algebra, which generalizes the concept of super vertex algebra. The two sides of the correspondence of type B constitute two examples of twisted vertex algebras. The boson-fermion correspondence of type B is thus an isomorphism between two twisted vertex algebras.

Quadratic differential operators, Bicharacters and $\bullet$ Products

For a commutative cocommutative Hopf algebra we study the relationship between a certain linear map defined via a bicharacter, an exponential of a quadratic differential operator and a $\bullet$ product obtained via twisting by a bicharacter. This new relationship between $\bullet$ products and exponentials of quadratic differential operators was inspired by studying the exponential of a particular quadratic differential operator introduced by I. Frenkel, Lepowsky and Meurman in "Vertex operator algebras and the Monster", and used in the theory of twisted modules of lattice vertex algebras.
