Thermodynamics of the Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter Spacetime with Quintessence

For Anti-de Sitte (AdS) black holes, the isochoric heat capacity of system is vanished, while the isobaric heat capacity is not. However, this situation does not hold on for de Sitter (dS) black holes. In this work, by introducing the interaction between the black hole horizon and the cosmological horizon of the Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter (RNdS) spacetime with quintessence, we discuss the phase transition of this system. The results show that the spacetime not only has the similar phase transition behavior to that of Van der Waals (VdW) system, and the non-vanishing isochoric heat capacity fulfills the whole thermodynamics system. Through the discussion of the entropic force between two horizons, we find out the role of entropic force in the evolution of spacetime. In addition, we also study the influence of various parameters on the phase transition and entropic force, which will provide a new method for exploring the interaction among black hole molecules from a micro perspective.

Continuous Phase Transition of the higher-dimensional topological de-Sitter Spacetime with the Non-linear Source

For the higher-dimensional dS spacetime embedded with black holes with non-linear charges, there are two horizons with different radiation temperatures. By introducing the interplay between two horizons this system can be regarded as an ordinary thermodynamic system in the thermodynamic equilibrium described by the thermodynamic quantities ($T_{eff},~P_{eff},~V,~S,~Φ_{eff}$). In this work, our focus is on the thermodynamic properties of phase transition for the four-dimensional dS spacetime with different values of the charge correction $\barϕ$. We find that with the increasing of the non-linear charge correction the two horizons get closer and closer, and the correction entropy is negative which indicates the interaction between the two horizons stronger and stronger. Furthermore, the heat capacity at constant pressure, isobaric expansion coefficient, and the isothermal compression coefficient have the schottky peak at the critical point. However, the heat capacity as constant volume for the dS spacetime is nonzero. Finally, the dynamical properties of phase transition for this system have investigated based on Gibbs free energy, where exists the different behavior with that for AdS black holes.

Hawking-Page Phase Transition of the four-dimensional de-Sitter Spacetime with non-linear source

The interplay between a dS black hole and cosmological horizons introduces distinctive thermodynamic behavior in a dS spacetime (for example the well-known upper bounds of mass and entropy in Class. Quant. Grav. 37 (2020) 5). Based on this point, we present the Hawking-Page (HP) phase transition of the four-dimensional dS spacetime with non-linear charge correction when the effective pressure is fixed, and analyze the effects of different effective pressures and non-linear charge corrections on HP phase transition. The evolution of this dS spacetime undergoing the HP phase transition is also investigated. We find that the existent curve of HP phase transition is a closed one with two different branches. That means there exist the upper bounds of the HP temperature and HP pressure, which is completely distinguished with that in AdS spacetime. And with the decreasing of the distance between two horizons, the dS spacetime at the coexistent curve of HP phase transition is going along with different branches. Furthermore we also explore the influence of charge and non-linear charge correction on the coexistent curve.

Phase transition of non-linear charged Anti-de Sitter black holes

Understanding the thermodynamic phase transition of black holes can provide a deep insight into the fundamental properties of black hole gravity to establish the theory of quantum gravity. We investigate the condition and latent heat of phase transition for non-linear charged AdS black holes using the Maxwell's equal-area law, and analysis the boundary and curve of the two-phase coexistence area in the expanded phase space. We suggest that the phase transition of the non-linear charged AdS black hole with the fixed temperature ($T<T_c$) is related to the electric potential at the horizon, not only to the location of horizon. Recently, the molecular number density was introduced to study the phase transition and microstructure of black holes. On this basis, we discuss the continuous phase transition of a non-linear charged AdS black hole to reveal the potential microstructure of a black hole by introducing the order parameter and using the scalar curvature.

Continuous phase transition and microstructure of charged AdS black hole with quintessence

Previously, the Maxwell equal-area law has been used to discuss the conditions satisfied by the phase transition of charged AdS black holes with cloud of string and quintessence, and it was concluded that black holes have phase transition similar to that of vdW system. The phase transition depends on the electric potential of the black hole and is not the one between a large black hole and a small black hole. On the basis of this result, we study the relation between the latent heat of the phase transition and the parameter of dark energy, and use the Landau continuous phase transition theory to discuss the critical phenomenon of the black hole with quintessence and give the critical exponent. By introducing the number density of the black hole molecules, some properties of the microstructure of black holes are studied in terms of a phase transition. It is found that the electric charge of the black hole and the normalization parameter related to the density of quintessence field play a key role in phase transition. By constructing the binary fluid model of the black hole molecules, we also discuss the microstructure of charged AdS black holes with a cloud of strings and quintessence.

Holographic $s$-wave superconductors with conformal anomaly correction

We build a holographic $s$-wave conductor/superconductor model and an insulator/superconductor model in the four-dimensional conformal anomaly corrected~(CAC) AdS gravity. The effects of CAC parameter $α$ are studied using both numerical and analytical methods in the probe approximation. Concretely, when the CAC parameter increases, the critical temperature increases for the conductor/superconductor phase transition, while the critical chemical potential decreases for the insulator/superconductor case, which suggests that the increasing CAC parameter enhances both superconducting phase transitions. Meanwhile, below the critical temperature or beyond the critical chemical potential, the scalar hair begins to condense, and the condensed phases are found to be thermodynamically stable. The critical behaviors obtained from numerics are confirmed by our analytical analysis. For the parameters we are considering, the energy gap in the conductor/superconductor model decreases monotonically by increasing the CAC parameter, while for the insulator/superconductor model the energy of quasiparticle excitations decreases with the CAC parameter.

Holographic Josephson Junction from Massive Gravity

We study the holographic superconductor-normal metal-superconductor (SNS) Josephon junction in the massive gravity. In the homogeneous case of the chemical potential, we find that the graviton mass will make the normal metal-superconductor phase transition harder to take place. In the holographic model of Josephson junction, it is found that the maximal tunneling current will decrease according to the graviton mass. Besides, the coherence length of the junction decreases as well with respect to the graviton mass. If one interprets the graviton mass as the effect of momentum dissipation in the boundary field theory, it indicates that the stronger the momentum dissipation is, the smaller the coherence length is.

Non-relativistic Josephson Junction from Holography

We construct a Josephson junction in non-relativistic case with a Lifshitz geometry as the dual gravity. We investigate the effect of the Lifshitz scaling in comparison with its relativistic counterpart. The standard sinusoidal relation between the current and the phase difference is found for various Lifshitz scalings characterised by the dynamical critical exponent. We also find the exponential decreasing relation between the condensate of the scalar operator within the barrier at zero current and the width of the weak link, as well as the relation between the critical current and the width. Nevertheless, the coherence lengths obtained from two exponential decreasing relations generically have discrepancies for non-relativistic dual.

Further studies on holographic insulator/superconductor phase transitions from Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problems

We take advantage of the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem to analytically study the holographic insulator/superconductor phase transition in the probe limit. The interesting point is that this analytical method can not only estimate the most stable mode of the phase transition, but also the second stable mode. We find that this analytical method perfectly matches with other numerical methods, such as the shooting method. Besides, we argue that only Dirichlet boundary condition of the trial function is enough under certain circumstances, which will lead to a more precise estimation. This relaxation for the boundary condition of the trial function is first observed in this paper as far as we know.

Analytical Studies on Holographic Insulator/Superconductor Phase Transitions

We investigate the analytical properties of the s-wave and p-wave holographic insulator/superconductor phase transitions at zero temperature. In the probe limit, we analytically calculate the critical chemical potentials at which the insulator/superconductor phase transition occurs. Those resulting analytical values perfectly match the previous numerical values. We also study the relations between the condensation values and the chemical potentials near the critical point. We find that the critical exponent for condensation operator is 1/2 for both models. The linear relations between the charge density and the chemical potential near the critical point are also deduced in this paper, which are qualitatively consistent with the previous numerical results.

Analytical Studies on Holographic Superconductors in Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

We use the variational method for the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem to analytically calculate some properties of holographic superconductors with Gauss-Bonnet gravity in probe limit. By studying the holographic p-wave and s-wave superconductors in (3+1)-dimensional boundary field theories, it is found that near the critical temperature, the critical exponent of the condensation is 1/2 which is the universal value in mean-field theory. We also find that when Gauss-Bonnet coefficients grow bigger the operators on the boundary field theory will be harder to condense. These are in good agreement with the numerical results.

Mapping Hawking temperature in the spinning constant curvature black hole spaces into Unruh temperature

We established the equivalence between the local Hawking temperature measured by the time-like Killing observer located at some positions $r$ with finite distances from the outer horizon $r_+$ in the 5-dimensional spinning black hole space with both negative and positive constant curvature, and the Unruh temperature measured by the Rindler observer with constant acceleration in the 6-dimensional flat space by employing the globally embedding approach.

Phase transitions in AdS soliton spacetime through marginally stable modes

We investigate the marginally stable modes of the scalar (vector) perturbations in the AdS soliton background coupled to electric field. In the probe limit, we find that the marginally stable modes can reveal the onset of the phase transitions of this model. The critical chemical potentials obtained from this approach are in good agreement with the previous numerical or analytical results.

The first order hydrodynamics via AdS/CFT correspondence in the Gauss-Bonnet gravity

In the spirit of the AdS/CFT correspondence, we investigate the hydrodynamics of the dual conformal field in the Gauss-Bonnet gravity. By considering the parameters of the boosted black brane in the Gauss-Bonnet gravity as functions of boundary coordinates, and then solving the corresponding correction terms, we calculate the first order stress-energy tensor of the dual conformal field. From this first order stress-energy tensor, we also obtain the shear viscosity and entropy density. And these results are consistent with those of some previous works from the effective coupling of gravitons.
