Generalized estimators using characteristics of Poisson distribution

In this article, we have proposed a generalized class of estimators, exponential class of estimators based on adaption of Sharma and Singh (2015) and Solanki and Singh (2013) and simple difference estimator for estimating unknown population mean in case of Poisson distributed population in simple random sampling without replacement. The expressions for mean square errors of the proposed classes of estimators are derived to the first order of approximation. It is shown that the adapted version of Solanki and Singh (2013), exponential class of estimator, is always more efficient than usual estimator, ratio, product, exponential ratio and exponential product type estimators and equal efficient to simple difference estimator. Moreover, the adapted version of Sharma and Singh (2015) estimator are always more efficient than all the estimators available in literature. In addition, theoretical findings are supported by an empirical study to show the superiority of the constructed estimators over others with earthquake data of Turkey.

A family of median based estimators in simple random sampling

In this paper we have proposed a median based estimator using known value of some population parameter(s) in simple random sampling. Various existing estimators are shown particular members of the proposed estimator. The bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimator is obtained up to the first order of approximation under simple random sampling without replacement. An empirical study is carried out to judge the superiority of proposed estimator over others.

Generalized class of estimators for finite population mean when study variable is qualitative in nature

This paper suggests a generalized class of estimators for population mean of the qualitative study variable in simple random sampling using information on an auxiliary variable. Asymptotic expressions of bias and mean square error of the proposed class of estimators have been obtained. Asymptotic optimum estimator has been investigated along with its approximate mean square error. It has been shown that proposed generalized class of estimators are more efficient than all the estimators considered by Singh et al. (2010) in case of qualitative study variable. In addition theoretical findings are supported by an empirical study based on real population to show the superiority of the constructed estimators over others.

Improved estimator of finite population mean using auxiliary attribute in stratified random sampling

The present study discuss the problem of estimating the finite population mean using auxiliary attribute in stratified random sampling. In this paper taking the advantage of point bi-serial correlation between the study variable and auxiliary attribute, we have improved the estimation of population mean in stratified random sampling. The expressions for Bias and Mean square error have been derived under stratified random sampling. In addition, an empirical study has been carried out to examine the merits of the proposed estimator over the existing estimators.

Some Improved Estimators In Systematic Sampling Under Non-response

In this paper we have considered the problem of estimating the population mean in systematic sampling using information on an auxiliary variable in presence of non response. Some modified ratio, product and difference type estimators in systematic sampling have been suggested and their properties are studied. The expressions of mean squared errors (MSEs) up to the first order of approximation are derived. An empirical study is carried out to judge the best estimator out of the suggested estimators.
