Holographic entanglement entropy for $Lif_4^{(2)}\times {S}^1\times S^5$ spacetime with string excitations

The (F1,D2,D8) brane configuration with $Lif_4^{(2)}\times {S}^1\times S^5$ geometry is a known Lifshitz vacua supported by massive $B_{μν}$ field in type IIA theory. This system allows exact IR excitations which couple to massless modes of the fundamental string. Due to these massless modes the solutions have a flow to a dilatonic $Lif_4^{(3)}\times S^1\times S^5$ vacua in IR. We study the entanglement entropy on the boundary of this spacetime for the strip and the disc subsystems. To our surprise net entropy density of the excitations at first order is found to be independent of the typical size of subsystems. We interpret our results in the light of first law of entanglement thermodynamics.

Holography and quantum information exchange between systems

We estimate the net information exchange between adjacent quantum subsystems holographically living on the boundary of $AdS$ spacetime. The information exchange is a real time phenomenon and only after long time interval it may get saturated. Normally we prepare systems for small time intervals and measure the information exchange over finite interval only. We find that the information flow between entangled subsystems gets reduced if systems are in excited state whereas the ground state allows maximum information flow at any given time. Especially for $CFT_2$ we exactly show that a rise in the entropy is detrimental to the information exchange by a quantum dot and vice-versa. We next observe that there is a reduction in circuit (CV) complexity too in the presence of excitations for small times.

AdS Bubbles, E$p$-branes and Entanglement

The AdS-bubble solutions interestingly mimic Schrödinger-like geometries when expressed in light-cone coordinates. These D$p$ bubble vacuas exhibit asymmetric scaling property with a negative dynamical exponent of time $a<0$, but are smooth geometries. Through a time-like T-duality we map these vacua to E$p$-brane bubbles with $a>0$ in type II* super-strings. We obtain an expression for the entanglement entropy for `bubble E3-branes'. It is argued that the entropy from E3-bubbles has to be the lowest.

Schrödinger Spacetimes with Screen and Reduced Entanglement

We study a particular class of type II string vacua which become Schrödinger like spacetime in the IR region but are conformally AdS in asymptotic UV region. These solutions are found to possess some unique properties such as the presence of a spacetime `screen'. This Schrödinger (spacetime) screen is however very different from a black-hole horizon. It requires the presence of finite chemical potential and a negative charge density in the Schrödinger CFT. We find that these vacua give rise to reduced entanglement entropy as compared to Lifshitz-AdS counterpart, perhaps due to the screening effects.

Lifshitz to AdS flow with interpolating p-brane solutions

In continuation with our studies of Lifshitz like D$p$-brane solutions, we propose a class of 1/4 BPS supersymmetric interpolating solutions which interpolate between IR Lifshitz solutions and UV AdS solutions smoothly. We demonstrate properties of these classical solutions near the two fixed points. These interpolating solutions are then used to calculate the entanglement entropies of strip-like subsystems. With these bulk solutions the entropy functional also gets modified. We also make a curious observation about the electric-magnetic duality and the thermal entropy of the Hodge-dual Lifshitz D$p$ brane systems.

Lifshitz/Schrödinger D-p-branes and dynamical exponents

We extend our earlier study of special double limits of `boosted' $AdS_5$ black hole solutions to include all black D$p$-branes of type II strings. We find that Lifshitz solutions can be obtained in generality, with varied dynamical exponents, by employing these limits. We then study such double limits for `boosted' D$p$-brane bubble solutions and find that the resulting non-relativistic solutions instead describe Schrödinger like spacetimes, having varied dynamical exponents. We get a simple map between these Lifshitz & Schrödinger solutions and a relationship between two types of dynamical exponents. We also discuss about the singularities of the Lifshitz solutions and an intriguing thermodynamic duality.

The Yang-Mills and chiral fields in six dimensions

In previous work (Singh, 2011), we constructed an action in six dimensions using Yang-Mills fields and an auxiliary Abelian field. Here we first write down all the equations of motion and the constraints which arise from such an action. From these equations we reproduce all dynamical equations and the constraints required for self-dual tensor field theory constructed by Lambert-Papageorgakis, which describes (2,0) supersymmetric CFT in 6D. This is an indication of the fact that our 6D gauge theory contains all the same information as the on-shall theory of chiral tensor fields.

Galilean type IIA backgrounds and a map

We obtain non-relativistic AdS4 X CP3 solutions with dynamical exponent 3 in type IIA string theory, both with and without Romans mass. The compactifications to four dimensions are found to describe Proca fields in anti-de Sitter spacetime. This leads us to conclude that the massive and massless IIA theories should be identified in four dimensions and the Romans mass should be identified with the `flux' along CP3 in a definite manner. From supergravity point of view, it is suggestive of some four-dimensional symmetry that rotates Romans mass into the flux along CP3. We also provide M-theory Galilean ABJM background which gives rise to the nonrelativistic type IIA solution.

Holographic flows to IR Lifshitz spacetimes

Recently we studied `vanishing' horizon limits of `boosted' black D3-brane geometry \cite{hsnr}. The type IIB solutions obtained by taking these special double limits were found to describe nonrelativistic Lifshitz spacetimes at zero temperature. In the present work we study these limits for TsT black-hole solutions which include $B$-field. The new Galilean solutions describe a holographic RG flow from Schrödinger ($a=2$) spacetime in UV to a Lifshitz universe ($a=3$) in the IR.

Super-Yang-Mills and M5-branes

We uplift 5-dimensional super-Yang-Mills theory to a 6-dimensional gauge theory with the help of a space-like constant vector $η^M$, whose norm determines the Yang-Mills coupling constant. After the localization of $η^M$ the 6D gauge theory acquires Lorentzian invariance as well as scale invariance. We discuss KK states, instantons and the flux quantization. The 6D theory admits extended solutions like 1/2 BPS `strings' and monopoles.

M2-branes on a resolved $C_4/Z_4$

We write down M2-branes on the resolved $C_4/Z_4$ orbifold space. The resolved spatial geometry is such that it interpolates between $R^2\times CP_3$ near the branes and $C_4/Z_4$ asymptotically. The near horizon geometry of these branes is a deformation of $AdS_4\times S^7/Z_4$. An interesting aspect is that for $k=4$ Chern-Simons theory coupling becomes vanishing near the IR cutoff leading to spontaneous compactification to type IIA.

Space-like branes, accelerating cosmologies and the near `horizon' limit

It is known that there exist two different classes of time dependent solutions in the form of space-like (or S)-branes in the low energy M/string theory. Accelerating cosmologies are known to arise from S-branes in one class, but not in the other where the time-like holography in the dS/CFT type correspondence may be more transparent. We show how the accelerating cosmologies arise from S-branes in the other class. Although we do not get the de Sitter structure in the lowest order supergravity, the near `horizon' ($t\to 0$) limits of these S-branes are the generalized Kasner metric.

(A)symmetric Tachyon Rolling in de Sitter Spacetime: A universe devoid of Planck density

In a recent paper we studied rolling tachyon flat FRW cosmologies, but those admitting only time-reversal asymmetric boundary conditions. The time-reversal symmetric cosmologies have been studied by Sen previously. We show explicitly here that through appropriate choice of initial conditions, the time evolution of the Hubble parameter in these two types of solutions can be made completely identical for $t>0$, except near $t=0$. The rolling tachyon solution also gives rise to necessary inflation. We find that universe does start as a string size object (with string scale $10^{15} GeV$) with a string mass density $\simeq 10^{78} gm. cm^{-3}$ and not with Planck density.

Note on (D6,D8) Bound State, Massive Duality and Non-commutativity

In this paper we study half-supersymmetric (D6,D8) bound state brane configuration of massive type IIA supergravity. We show that this bound state can also be generated by using massive T-duality rules of type-II supergravities in D=9, starting from D7-branes. We write down corresponding Killing spinors and find that these backgrounds indeed preserve 16 supersymmetries like any other D$p$-brane bound state with $B$-field. We also make a point on the massive nature of the $B$-field in this background. The Seiberg-Witten limits to obtain 9-dimensional NCYMs are also discussed, but the full understanding of such gauge theories remains unanswered.

Duality symmetric massive type II theories in D=8 and D=6

We study $T^2$ compactification of massive type IIA supergravity in presence of possible Ramond-Ramond (RR) background fluxes. The resulting theory in D=8 is shown to possess full $SL(2,R)\times SL(2,R)$ T-duality symmetry similar to the massless case. It is shown that elements of duality symmetry interpolate between massive type IIA compactified on $T^2$ and ordinary type IIA compactified on $T^2$ with RR 2-form flux. We also discuss relationship between M-theory vacua and massive type IIA vacua. The D8-brane is found to correspond to M-theory `pure gravity' solution which is a direct product of 7-dimensional Minkowski space and a 4-dimensional instanton. We also construct D6-D8 bound state which preserves 1/2 supersymmetries. We then discuss massive IIA compactification on $T^4$ and point out that when all possible RR fluxes on $T^4$ are turned on the six-dimensional theory appears to assume a nice SO(4,4) invariant form.

Romans type IIA theory and the heterotic strings

In this paper we study $T^2$ compactification of 6-dimensional massive type IIA supergravity in presence of Ramond-Ramond background fluxes. The resulting theory in four dimensions is shown to possess $SL(2,R)\times SL(2,R)\times O(4,20)$ duality symmetry. It is shown that specific elements of this symmetry relate massive type IIA compactified on $K3\times T^2$ (with fluxes along $K3$) to the ordinary type IIA compactified on $K3\times T^2$ (with fluxes along $T^2$). In turn, this relationship is exploited to relate Romans theory to heterotic strings. The D8-brane (domain-wall) wrapped on $K3\times T^2$ is related to {\it pure gravity} heterotic solution which is a direct product of 6-dimensional flat spacetime and a 4-dimensional Taub-NUT instanton.

Massive Type IIA Theory on K3

In this paper we study K3 compactification of ten-dimensional massive type IIA theory with all possible Ramond-Ramond background fluxes turned on. The resulting six-dimensional theory is a new massive (gauged) supergravity with an action that is manifestly invariant under an O(4,20) / (O(4) times O(20)) duality symmetry. We discover that this six-dimensional theory interpolates between vacua of ten-dimensional massive IIA supergravity and vacua of massless IIA supergravity with appropriate background fluxes turned on. This in turn suggests a new 11-dimensional interpretation for the massive type IIA theory.
