Coherent electron dynamics in monolayer $\text{MoS}_2$ under ultrashort optical pulse

A theoretical investigation on the coherent Dirac-like quasiparticle dynamics in monolayer $\text{MoS}_2$ under an ultrashort optical pulse irradiation is presented. Particularly, we remain specific features of ML-MDS associated with the mass asymmetry $α$ and topological aspect $β$ parameters resulting in Schr$\stackrel{..}{\text{o}}$dinger type wavevector of charge carriers. The direct band gap, spin-resolved valence band spilitting and valley degeneracy breaking due to strong spin-orbit coupling affect ultrafast dynamics of Dirac fermions. Because the duration of the optical pulse is less than the electron scattering time, which is $\sim 10-100\ fs$, the electron dynamics in electric field of the optical pulse is coherent, and consequently, we can describe the coupling of electron with strong electromagnetic field by the time-dependent Schr$\stackrel{..}{\text{o}}$dinger equation. The conduction band and valence band coupling via the strong electric field of pulse ($0.2-2.5 \ V/\textÅ$) gives rise to appearance of a dipole moment during the pulse is applied. We find that the dipole is complex, originating from the existence of band gap. We show an asymmetric singularities in Dirac points for absolute of dipole moment. We solve the resulting coupled evolution equations for the expansion coefficient of valence and conduction bands to obtain probability of population transition between valence and conduction bands. The irreversible electron dynamics as a key feature of two-dimensional Dirac matters in interacting with an ultrashort pulse strongly depends on the electronic structure of $\text{MoS}_2$. Furthermore, we present conduction band population distribution with an asymmetric exhibition at the each pair of Dirac points ($K$ and $K'$), when the pulse ends. This leads to valley polarization effect.

Transport properties of spin-triplet superconducting monolayer $MoS_2$

The quantum transport properties of graphene and monolayer $MoS_2$ superconductor heterostructures has been of considerable importance in the recent few years. Layered nature of molybdenum disulfide permits the superconducting correlation induction. Moreover, peculiar dynamical features of monolayer $MoS_2$, such as valence band spin-splitting in the nondegenerate $K$ and $K'$ valleys originated from strong spin-orbit coupling, and considerable direct band gap can make it potentially a useful material for electronics applications. Using the Dirac-like Hamiltonian of $MoS_2$ with taking into account the related mass asymmetry and topological contributions, we investigate the effect of spin-triplet $p$-wave pairing symmetry on the superconducting excitations, resulting in Andreev reflection process and Andreev bound state in the corresponding normal-superconductor (NS) and superconductor-normal-superconductor (SNS) structures, respectively. We study how the resulting subgap conductance and Josephson current are affected by the particular symmetry of order parameter. The signature of $p_x$-wave symmetry is found to decline the subgap superconducting energy excitations and, consequently, slightly suppress the Andreev reflection in the case of $p$-doped S region. The essential dynamical parameters $λ$ and $β$ of $MoS_2$ have significant effect on the both tunneling conductance and Josephson current. Particularly, the considered $p$-wave symmetry in the superconducting bound energies may feature the zero energy states at the interfaces. The critical current oscillations as a function of length of junction are obtained in the $p$-doped S region.

Design of a Universal Logic Block for Fault-Tolerant Realization of any Logic Operation in Trapped-Ion Quantum Circuits

This paper presents a physical mapping tool for quantum circuits, which generates the optimal Universal Logic Block (ULB) that can perform any logical fault-tolerant (FT) quantum operations with the minimum latency. The operation scheduling, placement, and qubit routing problems tackled by the quantum physical mapper are highly dependent on one another. More precisely, the scheduling solution affects the quality of the achievable placement solution due to resource pressures that may be created as a result of operation scheduling whereas the operation placement and qubit routing solutions influence the scheduling solution due to resulting distances between predecessor and current operations, which in turn determines routing latencies. The proposed flow for the quantum physical mapper captures these dependencies by applying (i) a loose scheduling step, which transforms an initial quantum data flow graph into one that explicitly captures the no-cloning theorem of the quantum computing and then performs instruction scheduling based on a modified force-directed scheduling approach to minimize the resource contention and quantum circuit latency, (ii) a placement step, which uses timing-driven instruction placement to minimize the approximate routing latencies while making iterative calls to the aforesaid force-directed scheduler to correct scheduling levels of quantum operations as needed, and (iii) a routing step that finds dynamic values of routing latencies for the qubits. In addition to the quantum physical mapper, an approach is presented to determine the single best ULB size for a target quantum circuit by examining the latency of different FT quantum operations mapped onto different ULB sizes and using information about the occurrence frequency of operations on critical paths of the target quantum algorithm to weigh these latencies.

Practical Power Allocation and Greedy Partner Selection for Cooperative Networks

In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for power allocation in the Amplify-and-Forward cooperative communication that minimizes the outage probability with a given value of total power. We present the problem with new formulation and solve the optimal power allocation for a fixed set of partners. The proposed solution provides a direct power allocation scheme with a simple formula that can be also be represented by a simple lookup table which makes it easy for practical implementation. We present simulation results to demonstrate that the performances of the proposed algorithms are very close to results of the previously published iterative optimal power allocation algorithms. We also consider the issue of partner selection in a cooperative network.
