Amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of $J/ψ\to Λ\barΣ^0η+\mathrm{c.c}$

Based on a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial-wave analysis of $ J/ψ\to Λ\bar{ Σ}^0η+\mathrm{c.c} $ is performed for the first time. The dominant contributions are found to be excited $Λ$ states with $J^P=1/2^-$ and $J^P=1/2^+$ in the $ηΛ$ mass spectra. The measured masses and widths are $M=1668.8\pm3.1\pm21.2$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=52.7\pm4.2\pm17.8$ MeV for the $Λ(1670)$, and $M=1881.5\pm16.5\pm20.3$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=82.4\pm18.2\pm8.9$ MeV for the $Λ(1810)$, respectively. The branching fraction is determined to be $ \mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to Λ\bar{ Σ}^0η+\mathrm{c.c}) $ = $(3.44 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.13) \times 10^{-5}$. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

Cross section measurement of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{0}π^{0}ψ(3686)$ from $\sqrt{s}=$ 4.008 GeV to 4.951 GeV

Using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of $22.1~\rm fb^{-1}$ at center-of-mass energies between 4.008 and 4.951~GeV collected with the BESIII detector, the cross sections of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{0}π^{0}ψ(3686)$ process are measured. The obtained cross sections are found to be approximately one-half of those of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$, consistent with the isospin symmetry expectation. A coherent fit to the dressed cross sections is performed, with the $Y(4230)$~parameters fixed at the values measured in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$. The significances of the $Y(4390)$ and $Y(4660)$ are both larger than $5σ$, and their masses and widths are consistent with the previous measurement in the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$ process.

First Measurement of the Absolute Branching Fraction of $η_c \to γγ$

We apply a tag-and-probe method to precisely measure the absolute branching fraction of the decay $η_c \to γγ$ with the BESIII experiment at BEPCII. Starting with a large initial sample of $2712.4\pm 14.3$ million $ψ(3686)$ events, a sample of 0.16 million $η_c$ events are tagged via the golden channel $ψ(3686)\to π^0 h_c$, $h_c\to γη_c$, effectively avoiding interference effects. The absolute branching fraction of $η_c \to γγ$ is measured for the first time to be $\mathcal{B}(η_c \to γγ) = (2.45 \pm 0.48_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.09_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-4}$. Using the world average value of the total width of the $η_c$, the partial decay width of $η_c \to γγ$ is calculated to be $Γ(η_c \to γγ) = (7.48 \pm 1.48_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.30_{\rm syst.})~{\rm keV}$.

First Observation of $D^{0(+)}\to \bar Kωe^+ν_e$ and Determination of the Branching Fraction of $\bar K_1(1270)\to \bar K ω$

Using 20.3~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the semileptonic decays $D^0\to K^-ωe^+ν_e$ and $D^+\to K_S^0ωe^+ν_e$ with significances of $8.0σ$ and $5.8σ$, respectively, including systematic uncertainties. Their decay branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(D^0\to K^-ωe^+ν_e)=(9.3^{+2.1}_{-1.9}\pm 0.7)\times10^{-5}$ and ${\cal B}(D^+\to K_S^0ωe^+ν_e)=(6.6^{+2.0}_{-1.8}\pm 0.6)\times10^{-5}$. Combining with the latest measurements of $D^{0(+)}\to K^-π^+π^{-(0)} e^+ν_e$ and assuming $\bar{K}_1(1270)$ to be the sole mediating resonance in all processes, the branching ratios are determined to be $\frac{Γ(K_1(1270)^-\to K^-π^+π^-)}{Γ(K_1(1270)^-\to K^-ω)} = 3.4^{+0.8}_{-0.7} \pm 0.3$ and $\frac{Γ(\bar{K}_1(1270)^0\to K^-π^+π^0)}{Γ(\bar{K}_1(1270)^0\to \bar{K}^0ω)} = 9.6^{+3.0}_{-2.7} \pm 0.8$. The combined branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal B(\bar{K}_1(1270)\to \bar{K}ω) = (7.5\pm 1.3 \pm 0.5)\%$, which is the most precise measurement from a collider experiment. The first uncertainties are statistical, and the second are systematic.

Measurements of the absolute branching fractions of the $Λ_{c}^{+}$ hadronic decays

Based on 4.5 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4599.53 MeV and 4698.82 MeV with the BESIII detector, the absolute branching fractions of twelve $Λ_{c}^{+}$ hadronic decay modes are measured with a double-tag technique. A global least-square fit is implemented simultaneously among different decay modes at different energy points. This paper gives the most precise results on the branching fractions of different decay modes to date, with precision improved by a factor of 2 to 3. Among them, the branching fraction of $Λ_{c}^{+}\to pK^{-}π^+$ is determined to be $(6.61\pm0.11\pm0.12)\%$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, the $e^+e^-\toΛ_c^+\barΛ_c^-$ Born cross sections and the effective form factors ($|G_{\rm eff}|$) at different energy points have been determined with the highest precision to date.

The branching fractions of these decays are measured for the first time, and the statistical significance for each signal exceeds $10σ$.

Observation of Polarization and Determination of Electric and Magnetic Moments of $Ξ(1530)^0$ in $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$

Using the data sample of $2.7\times10^9$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we present an observation of the $Ξ(1530)^0$ polarization in the decay $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$ with a significance larger than $20σ$ compared with all other tested hypotheses. The helicity amplitudes for the process $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$ and the moduli of form factors including electric charge, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic octupole are measured for the first time by performing an angular distribution analysis. Additionally, the polarization correlations between $Ξ(1530)^0$ and $\barΞ(1530)^0$ are measured.

Search for a dark baryon in the $Ξ^-\rightarrowπ^-+{\rm invisible}$ decay

A search for a dark baryon is performed for the first time in the two-body decay $Ξ^-\rightarrowπ^-+{\rm invisible}$ using $(10.087\pm0.044)\times10^{9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097\,\mbox{GeV}$ with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is observed, and the 90% (95%) confidence level upper limits on the branching fraction $B(Ξ^-\rightarrowπ^-+{\rm invisible})$ are determined to be $4.2\times10^{-5}$ ($5.2\times10^{-5}$), $6.9\times10^{-5}$ ($8.4\times10^{-5}$), $6.5\times10^{-4}$ ($7.6\times10^{-4}$), $1.1\times10^{-4}$ ($1.3\times10^{-4}$) and $4.5\times10^{-5}$ ($5.5\times10^{-5}$), under the dark baryon mass hypotheses of 1.07$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$, 1.10$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$, $m_Λ$ (1.116$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$), 1.13$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$, and 1.16$\,\mbox{GeV}/c^2$, respectively. The constraints obtained on the Wilson coefficients $C_{u s, s}^L$ and $C_{u s, s}^R$ are more stringent than the previous limits derived from the LHC searches for the colored mediators.

Measurement of branching fractions of $Λ_{c}^{+}$ decays to $Σ^{+} η$ and $Σ^{+} η'$

By analyzing $e^+e^-$ collision data taken at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $\rm 4.5~fb^{-1}$, we study the hadronic decays $Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Σ^{+} η$ and $Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Σ^{+} η^{\prime}$ using the single-tag method. The branching fraction ratio of $Λ_{c}^+ \rightarrow Σ^+ η$ relative to $Λ_{c}^+ \rightarrow Σ^+ π^0$ is determined to be $0.305 \pm 0.046_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.007_{\rm syst.}$, and that of $Λ_{c}^+ \rightarrow Σ^+ η'$ relative to $Λ_{c}^+ \rightarrow Σ^+ ω$ is $0.336 \pm 0.094_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.037_{\rm syst.}$. The ratio of $\frac{\mathcal{B}\left(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Σ^{+} η'\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Σ^{+} η\right)} $ is determined to be $1.73 \pm 0.22_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.16_{\rm syst.}$. These results enrich our knowledge of charmed baryon decays.

Investigation of the $ΔI = 1/2$ rule and test of CP violation through the measurement of decay asymmetry parameters in $Ξ^-$ decays

Using $(10087\pm44)\times 10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, numerous $Ξ^-$ and $Λ$ decay asymmetry parameters are simultaneously determined from the process $J/ψ\to Ξ^- \barΞ^+ \to Λ(pπ^-) π^- \barΛ(\bar{n} π^0) π^+$ and its charge-conjugate channel. The precisions of $α_0$ for $Λ\to nπ^0$ and $\barα_0$ for $\barΛ \to \bar{n}π^0$ compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of $Λ\to nπ^0$ to that of $Λ\to pπ^-$, $\langle α_0 \rangle/ \langle α_{Λ-} \rangle $, is determined to be $ 0.873 \pm 0.012^{+0.011}_{-0.010}$, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity more than $5σ$, which signifies the existence of the $ΔI = 3/2$ transition in $Λ$ for the first time. Beside, we test for CP violation in $Ξ^- \to Λπ^-$ and in $Λ\to n π^{0}$ with the best precision to date.

Search for hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow K^+ D_{s}^{*-} D^{*0}+c.c.$

We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed $Z_{cs}(3985)^{-}$ state, denoted as $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$, in the process $e^{+} e^{-}\rightarrow K^{+}D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}+c.c.$, based on $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=4.661$, 4.682 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector. The $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ is of interest as it is expected to be a candidate for a hidden-charm and open-strange tetraquark. A partial-reconstruction technique is used to isolate $K^+$ recoil-mass spectra, which are probed for a potential contribution from $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}\to D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}$ ($c.c.$). We find an excess of $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}\rightarrow D_{s}^{*-}D^{*0}$ ($c.c.$) candidates with a significance of $2.1σ$, after considering systematic uncertainties, at a mass of $(4123.5\pm0.7_\mathrm{stat.}\pm4.7_\mathrm{syst.})\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$. As the data set is limited in size, the upper limits are evaluated at the 90\% confidence level on the product of the Born cross sections ($σ^{\mathrm{Born}}$) and the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$) of $Z_{cs}^{\prime-}\rightarrow D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}$, under different assumptions of the $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ mass from 4.120 to 4.140 MeV and of the width from 10 to 50 MeV at the three center-of-mass energies. The upper limits of $σ^{\rm Born}\cdot\mathcal{B}$ are found to be at the level of $\mathcal{O}(1)$ pb at each energy. Larger data samples are needed to confirm the $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ state and clarify its nature in the coming years.

Optimization of the JUNO liquid scintillator composition using a Daya Bay antineutrino detector

To maximize the light yield of the liquid scintillator (LS) for the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 t LS sample was produced in a pilot plant at Daya Bay. The optical properties of the new LS in various compositions were studied by replacing the gadolinium-loaded LS in one antineutrino detector. The concentrations of the fluor, PPO, and the wavelength shifter, bis-MSB, were increased in 12 steps from 0.5 g/L and <0.01 mg/L to 4 g/L and 13 mg/L, respectively. The numbers of total detected photoelectrons suggest that, with the optically purified solvent, the bis-MSB concentration does not need to be more than 4 mg/L. To bridge the one order of magnitude in the detector size difference between Daya Bay and JUNO, the Daya Bay data were used to tune the parameters of a newly developed optical model. Then, the model and tuned parameters were used in the JUNO simulation. This enabled to determine the optimal composition for the JUNO LS: purified solvent LAB with 2.5 g/L PPO, and 1 to 4 mg/L bis-MSB.

Experimentally well-constrained masses of $^{27}$P and $^{27}$S: Implications for studies of explosive binary systems

The mass of $^{27}$P was predicted to impact the X-ray burst (XRB) model predictions of burst light curves and the composition of the burst ashes. To address the uncertainties and inconsistencies in the reported $^{27}$P masses in literature, a wealth of information has been extracted from the $β$-decay spectroscopy of the drip-line nucleus $^{27}$S. We determine the most precise mass excess of $^{27}$P to date to be $-659(9)$~keV, which is 63~keV (2.3$σ$) higher than the AME2016 recommended value of $-722(26)$~keV. The experimentally unknown mass excess of $^{27}$S was estimated to be 17030(400)~keV in AME2016, and we constrain this mass to be 17678(77)~keV based on the measured $β$-delayed two-proton energy. In the temperature region of $(0.06-0.3)$~GK, the $^{26}$Si$(p,γ)^{27}$P reaction rate determined in this work is significantly lower than the rate recommended in the reaction rate libraries, up to two orders of magnitude around 0.1~GK. The impact of these newly determined masses and well-constrained rate on the modeling of the explosive astrophysical scenarios has been explored by hydrodynamic nova and post-processing XRB models. No substantial change was found in the nova contribution to the synthesis of galactic $^{26}$Al or in the XRB energy generation rate, but we found that the calculated abundances of $^{26}$Al and $^{26}$Si at the last stage of XRB are increased by a factor of 2.4. We also conclude that $^{27}$S is not a significant waiting point in the rapid proton capture process.

PMT overshoot study for JUNO prototype detector

The quality of PMT signal is one of the key items for a large and high precision neutrino experiment, like Daya Bay, JUNO, while most of the experiments are affected by the PMT signal overshoot from its positive HV-single cable scheme. For JUNO prototype detector, we have a detailed study on the PMT overshoot and successfully reduced the ratio of overshoot amplitude to signal to ~1% from previous typical ~10%, with no affection to PMT other parameters. Furthermore, we calculated that the overshoot is a result of discharging of capacitors in the HV-signal splitter and the PMT voltage divider. The study result is extremely important for JUNO and other similar experiments.

The decay characteristic of $^{22}$Si and its ground-state mass significantly affected by three-nucleon forces

The decay of the proton-rich nucleus $^{22}$Si was studied by a silicon array coupled with germanium clover detectors. Nine charged-particle groups are observed and most of them are recognized as $β$-delayed proton emission. A charged-particle group at 5600 keV is identified experimentally as $β$-delayed two-proton emission from the isobaric analog state of $^{22}$Al. Another charged-particle emission without any $β$ particle at the low energy less than 300 keV is observed. The half-life of $^{22}$Si is determined as 27.5 (18) ms. The experimental results of $β$-decay of $^{22}$Si are compared and in nice agreement with shell-model calculations. The mass excess of the ground state of $^{22}$Si deduced from the experimental data shows that three-nucleon (3N) forces with repulsive contributions have significant effects on nuclei near the proton drip line.

The self-consistent analysis for sub-barrier fusion enhancement effect in Ca + Ca and Ni + Ni

The fusion dynamic mechanism of heavy-ions at energies near the Coulomb barrier is complicated and still not very clear up to now. Accordingly, a self-consistent method based on the CCFULL calculations has been developed and applied for an ingoing study of the effect of the positive Q-value neutron transfer (PQNT) channels in this work. The typical experimental fusion data of Ca + Ca and Ni + Ni is analyzed within the unified calculation scheme. The PQNT effect in near-barrier fusion is further confirmed based on the self-consistent analysis and extracted quantitatively.

Why does neutron transfer play different roles in sub-barrier fusion reactions $^{32}$S+$^{94,96}$Zr and $^{40}$Ca+$^{94,96}$Zr?

The sub-barrier capture (fusion) reactions $^{32}$S+$^{90,94,96}$Zr, $^{36}$S+$^{90,96}$Zr, $^{40}$Ca+$^{90,94,96}$Zr, and $^{48}$Ca+$^{90,96}$Zr with positive and negative $Q$-values for neutron transfer are studied within the quantum diffusion approach and the universal fusion function representation. For these systems, the s-wave capture probabilities are extracted from the experimental excitation functions and are also analyzed. Different effects of the positive $Q_{xn}$-value neutron transfer in the fusion enhancement are revealed in the relatively close reactions $^{32}$S+$^{94,96}$Zr and $^{40}$Ca+$^{94,96}$Zr.

Fusion at near-barrier energies within quantum diffusion approach

The nuclear deformation and neutron-transfer process have been identified as playing a major role in the magnitude of the sub-barrier fusion (capture) cross sections. There are a several experimental evidences which confirm the importance of nuclear deformation on the fusion. The influence of nuclear deformation is straightforward. If the target nucleus is prolate in the ground state, the Coulomb field on its tips is lower than on its sides, that then increases the capture or fusion probability at energies below the barrier corresponding to the spherical nuclei. The role of neutron transfer reactions is less clear. The importance of neutron transfer with positive Q-values on nuclear fusion (capture) originates from the fact that neutrons are insensitive to the Coulomb barrier and therefore they can start being transferred at larger separations before the projectile is captured by target-nucleus. Therefore, it is generally thought that the sub-barrier fusion cross section will increase because of the neutron transfer. The fusion (capture) dynamics induced by loosely bound radioactive ion beams is currently being extensively studied. However, the long-standing question whether fusion (capture) is enhanced or suppressed with these beams has not yet been answered unambiguously. The study of the fusion reactions involving nuclei at the drip-lines has led to contradictory results.

Threshold energy for sub-barrier fusion hindrance phenomenon

The relationship between the threshold energy for a deep sub-barrier fusion hindrance phenomenon and the energy at which the regime of interaction changes (the turning-off of the nuclear forces and friction) in the sub-barrier capture process, is studied within the quantum diffusion approach. The quasielastic barrier distribution is shown to be a useful tool to clarify whether the slope of capture cross section changes at sub-barrier energies.

A Statistical Study on Force-Freeness of Solar Magnetic Fields in the Photosphere

It is an indisputable fact that solar magnetic fields are force-free in the corona, where force free fields means that current and magnetic fields are parallel and there is no Lorentz force in the fields. While the force-free extent of photospheric magnetic fields remains open. In this paper, the statistical results about it is given. The vector magnetograms (namely, $B_{x}$, $B_{y}$ and $B_{z}$ in heliocentric coordinates) are employed, which are deduced and calibrated from Stokes spectra, observed by Solar Magnetic Field Telescope (SMFT) at Huairou Solar Observing Station (HSOS) are used. We study and calibrated 925 magnetograms calibrated by two sets of calibration coefficients, that indicate the relations between magnetic fields and the strength of Stokes spectrum and can be calculated either theoretically or empirically. The statistical results show that the majority of active region magnetic fields are not consistent with the force-free model.

Quasifission at extreme sub-barrier energies

With the quantum diffusion approach the behavior of the capture cross-section is investigated in the reactions $^{92,94}$Mo + $^{92,94}$Mo, $^{100}$Ru + $^{100}$Ru, $^{104}$Pd + $^{104}$Pd, and $^{78}$Kr + $^{112}$Sn at deep sub-barrier energies which are lower than the ground state energies of the compound nuclei. Because the capture cross section is the sum of the complete fusion and quasifission cross sections, and the complete fusion cross section is zero at these sub-barrier energies, one can study experimentally the unique quasifission process in these reactions after the capture.

Role of T=0 pairing in Gamow-Teller states in N=Z nuclei

Gamow-Teller (GT) states in N=Z nuclei with the mass number A from 48 to 64 are studied by using Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov + quasi-particle random phase approximation (HFB+QRPA) with Skyrme interactions. The isoscalar spin-triplet (T=0,S=1) pairing interaction is taken into account in QRPA calculations. It is found in the context of SU(4) symmetry in the spin-isospin space that the GT strength of lower energy excitations is largely enhanced by the T=0 pairing interaction which works cooperatively with the T=1 pairing interaction in the ground state. A two-peaked structure observed recently in $(p,n)$ reaction on $^{56}$Ni can be considered as a manifestation of the role of T=0 pairing in the GT collective states.

Search of systematic behavior of breakup probability in reactions with weakly bound projectiles at energies around Coulomb barrier

Comparing the capture cross sections calculated without the breakup effect and experimental complete fusion cross sections, the breakup was analyzed in reactions with weakly bound projectiles $^{6,7,9}$Li, $^{9,11}$Be, and $^{6,8}$He. A trend of a systematic behavior for the complete fusion suppression as a function of the target charge and bombarding energy is not achieved. The quasielastic backscattering is suggested to be an useful tool to study the behavior of the breakup probability in reactions with weakly bound projectiles.

Effects of nuclear deformation and neutron transfer in capture process, and origin of fusion hindrance at deep sub-barrier energies

The roles of nuclear deformation and neutron transfer in sub-barrier capture process are studied within the quantum diffusion approach. The change of the deformations of colliding nuclei with neutron exchange can crucially influence the sub-barrier fusion. The comparison of the calculated capture cross section and the measured fusion cross section in various reactions at extreme sub- barrier energies gives us information about the fusion and quasifission.

Error Analysis regarding the calculation of NLFF Field

Field extrapolation is an alternative method to study chromospheric and coronal magnetic fields. In this paper, two semi-analytical solutions of force- free fields (Low and Lou, 1990) have been used to study the errors of nonlin- ear force-free (NLFF) fields based on force-free factor alpha. Three NLFF fields are extrapolated by approximate vertical integration (AVI) Song et al. (2006), boundary integral equation (BIE) Yan and Sakurai (2000) and optimization (Opt.) Wiegelmann (2004) methods. Compared with the first semi-analytical field, it is found that the mean values of absolute relative standard deviations (RSD) of alpha along field lines are about 0.96-1.05, 0.94-1.07 and 0.46-0.72 for AVI, BIE and Opt. fields, respectively. While for the second semi-analytical field, they are about 0.80-1.02, 0.63-1.34 and 0.33-0.55 for AVI, BIE and Opt. fields, respectively. As for the analytical field, the calculation error of hjRSDji is about 0.1 » 0.2. It is also found that RSD does not apparently depend on the length of field line. These provide the basic estimation on the deviation of extrapolated field obtained by proposed methods from the real force-free field.

Multi-neutron transfer coupling in sub-barrier 32S+90,96Zr fusion reactions

The role of neutron transfers is investigated in the fusion process below the Coulomb barrier by analyzing 32S+90Zr and 32S+96Zr as benchmark reactions. A full coupled-channel calculation of the fusion excitation functions has been performed for both systems by using multi-neutron transfer coupling for the more neutron-rich reaction. The enhancement of fusion cross sections for 32S+96Zr is well reproduced at sub-barrier energies by NTFus code calculations including the coupling of the neutron-transfer channels following the Zagrebaev semiclassical model. We found similar effects for 40Ca+90Zr and 40Ca+96Zr fusion excitation functions.

Sub-barrier capture with quantum diffusion approach: actinide-based reactions

With the quantum diffusion approach the behavior of capture cross sections and mean-square angular momenta of captured systems are revealed in the reactions with deformed nuclei at subbarrier energies. The calculated results are in a good agreement with existing experimental data. With decreasing bombarding energy under the barrier the external turning point of the nucleusnucleus potential leaves the region of short-range nuclear interaction and action of friction. Because of this change of the regime of interaction, an unexpected enhancement of the capture cross section is expected at bombarding energies far below the Coulomb barrier. This effect is shown its worth in the dependence of mean-square angular momentum of captured system on the bombarding energy. From the comparison of calculated and experimental capture cross sections, the importance of quasifission near the entrance channel is shown for the actinide-based reactions leading to superheavy nuclei.

Competition between fusion-fission and quasifission processes in the $^{32}$S+$^{182,184}$W reactions

The angular distributions of fission fragments for the $^{32}$S+$^{184}$W reaction at center-of-mass energies of 118.8, 123.1, 127.3, 131.5, 135.8, 141.1 and 144.4 MeV were measured. The experimental fission excitation function is obtained. The fragment angular anisotropy ($\mathcal{A}_{\rm exp}$) is found by extrapolating the each fission angular distributions. The measured fission cross sections of the $^{32}$S+$^{182,184}$W reaction are decomposed into fusion-fission, quasifission and fast fission contributions by the dinuclear system model. The total evaporation residue excitation function for the $^{32}$S+$^{184}$W reaction calculated in the framework of the advanced statistical model is in good agreement with the available experimental data up to about $E_{\rm c.m.}\approx 160$ MeV. The theoretical descriptions of the experimental capture excitation functions for both reactions and quantities $K_0^2$, $<\ell^2>$ and $\mathcal{A}_{\rm exp}$ which characterize angular distributions of the fission products were performed by the same partial capture cross sections at the considered range of beam energy.

Effect of the tensor force on the charge-exchange spin-dipole excitations of 208Pb

The charge-exchange spin-dipole (SD) excitations of 208Pb are studied by using a fully self-consistent Skyrme Hartree-Fock plus Random Phase Approximation (HF+RPA) formalism which includes the tensor interaction. It is found, for the first time, that the tensor correlations have a unique, multipole-dependent effect on the SD excitations, that is, they produce softening of 1- states, but hardening of 0- and 2- states. This paves the way to a clear assessment of the strength of the tensor terms. We compare our results with a recent measurement, showing that our choice of tensor terms improves the agreement with experiment. The robustness of our results is supported by the analytic form of the tensor matrix elements.

The fusion excitation functions have been measured with rather good accuracy for 32S+90Zr and 32S+96Zr near and below the Coulomb barrier. The sub-barrier cross sections for 32S+96Zr are much larger compared with 32S+90Zr. Semi-classical coupled-channels calculations including two-phonon excitations are capable to describe sub-barrier enhancement only for 32S+90Zr. The remaining disagreement for 32S+96Zr comes from the positive Q-value intermediate neutron transfers in this system. The comparison with 40Ca+96Zr suggests that couplings to the positive Q-value neutron transfer channels may play a role in the sub-barrier fusion enhancement. A rather simple model calculation taking neutron transfers into account is proposed to overcome the discrepancies of 32S+96Zr.

Effect of Tensor Correlations on Gamow-Teller States in 90Zr and 208Pb

The tensor terms of the Skyrme effective interaction are included in the self-consistent Hartree-Fock plus Random Phase Approximation (HF+RPA) model. The Gamow-Teller (GT) strength function of 90Zr and 208Pb are calculated with and without the tensor terms. The main peaks are moved downwards by about 2 MeV when including the tensor contribution. About 10% of the non-energy weighted sum rule is shifted to the excitation energy region above 30 MeV by the RPA tensor correlations. The contribution of the tensor terms to the energy weighted sum rule is given analytically, and compared to the outcome of RPA.
