Asymptotic normality of an estimator of kernel-based conditional mean dependence measure

We propose an estimator of the kernel-based conditional mean dependence measure obtained from an appropriate modification of a naive estimator based on usual empirical estimators. We then get asymptotic normality of this estimator both under conditional mean independence hypothesis and under the alternative hypothesis. A new test for conditional mean independence of random variables valued into Hilbert spaces is then introduced.

Kernel-based method for joint independence of functional variables

This work investigates the problem of testing whether $d$ functional random variables are jointly independent using a modified estimator of the $d$-variable Hilbert Schmidt Indepedence Criterion ($d$HSIC) which generalizes HSIC for the case where $d \geq 2$. We then get asymptotic normality of this estimator both under joint independence hypothesis and under the alternative hypothesis. A simulation study shows good performance of the proposed test on finite sample.

Testing independence of functional variables by an Hilbert-Schmidt independence criterion estimator

We propose an estimator of the Hilbert-Schmidt Independence Criterion obtained from an appropriate modification of the usual estimator. We then get asymptotic normality of this estimator both under independence hypothesis and under the alternative hypothesis. A new test for independence of random variables valued into metric spaces is then introduced, and a simulation study that allows to compare the proposed test to an existing one is provided

Wavelet-based estimation in a semiparametric regression model

In this paper, we introduce a wavelet-based method for estimating the EDR space in Li's semiparametric regression model for achieving dimension reduction. This method is obtained by using linear wavelet estimators of the density and regression functions that are involved in the covariance matrix of conditional expectation whose spectral analysis gives the EDR directions. Then, consistency of the proposed estimators is proved. A simulation study that allow one to evaluate the performance of the proposal with comparison to existing methods is presented.

Variable selection in multiple regression with random design

We propose a method for variable selection in multiple regression with random predictors. This method is based on a criterion that permits to reduce the variable selection problem to a problem of estimating suitable permutation and dimensionality. Then, estimators for these parameters are proposed and the resulting method for selecting variables is shown to be consistent. A simulation study that permits to gain understanding of the performances of the proposed approach and to compare it with an existing method is given.
