Explicit Formulas of Fractional GJMS operators on hyperbolic spaces and sharp fractional Poincaré-Sobolev and Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequalities

Using the scattering theory on the hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^n$, we give the explicit formulas of the fractional GJMS operators $P_γ$ for all $γ\in(0,\frac{n}{2})\setminus\mathbb{N}$ on $\mathbb{H}^n$.These $P_γ$ for $γ\in(0,\frac{n}{2})\setminus\mathbb{N}$ are neither conformal to the fractional Laplacians on $\mathbb{R}^n_{+}$ nor on $\mathbb{B}^n$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ though $P_γ$ are conformal to $(-Δ)^γ$ via half space model and ball model of hyperbolic spaces when $γ\in\mathbb{N}$. To circumvent this, we introduce another family of fractional operators $\tilde{P}_γ$ on $\mathbb{H}^n$ which are conformal to the fractional Laplacians on $\mathbb{R}^n_{+}$ and $\mathbb{B}^n$. It is worthwhile to note that $\tilde{P}_γ\not =P_γ$ unless $γ$ is an integer. We establish the fractional Poincaré-Sobolev inequalities associated with both $P_γ$ and $\tilde{P}_γ$ on $\mathbb{H}^n$. In particular, when $n\geq 3$ and $\frac{n-1}{2}\leq γ<\frac{n}{2}$, we prove that the sharp constants in the $γ$-th order of Poincaré-Sobolev inequalities on the hyperbolic space associated with $P_γ$ and $\tilde{P}_γ$ coincide with the best $γ$-th order Sobolev constant in the $n$-dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^n$. We also establish fractional Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequality on $\mathbb{R}^{n}_+$ and $\mathbb{B}^n$ and prove that the sharp constants in the $γ$-th order Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequalities on half space $\mathbb{R}^{n}_+$ and unit ball $\mathbb{B}^n$ are the same as the best $γ$-th order Sobolev constants in $\mathbb{R}^n$ when $n\geq 3$ and $\frac{n-1}{2}\leq γ<\frac{n}{2}$. Our methods crucially rely on the Helgason-Fourier analysis on hyperbolic spaces and delicate analysis of special functions.

Stability of Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities with explicit lower bounds

In this paper, we establish the stability for the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (HLS) inequalities with explicit lower bounds. By establishing the relation between the stability of HLS inequalities and the stability of fractional Sobolev inequalities, we also give the stability of the fractional Sobolev inequalities with the lower bounds. This extends the stability of Sobolev inequalities with the explicit lower bounds established by Dolbeault, Esteban, Figalli, Frank and Loss in [16] to the fractional order case. Our proofs are based on the competing symmetries, the continuous Steiner symmetrization inequality for the HLS integral and the dual stability theory.

Extendability and the $\overline \partial$ Operator on the Hartogs Triangle

In this paper it is shown that the Hartogs triangle $\mathbf T$ in $\mathbf C^2$ is a uniform domain. This implies that the Hartogs triangle is a Sobolev extension domain. Furthermore, the weak and strong maximal extensions of the Cauchy-Riemann operator agree on the Hartogs triangle. These results have numerous applications. Among other things, they are used to study the Dolbeault cohomology groups with Sobolev coefficients on the complement of $\mathbf T$.

Bi-parameter trilinear Fourier multipliers and pseudo-differential operators with flag symbols

The main purpose of this paper is to study $L^r$ Hölder type estimates for a bi-parameter trilinear Fourier multiplier with flag singularity, and the analogous pseudo-differential operator, when the symbols are in a certain product form. More precisely, for $f,g,h\in \mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R}^{2})$, the bi-parameter trilinear flag Fourier multiplier operators we consider are defined by $$ T_{m_1,m_2}(f,g,h)(x):=\int_{\mathbb{R}^{6}}m_1(ξ,η,ζ)m_2(η,ζ)\hat f(ξ) \hat g(η)\hat h(ζ)e^{2πi(ξ+η+ζ)\cdot x}dξdηdζ, $$ when $m_1,m_2$ are two bi-parameter symbols. We will show that our problem can be reduced to establish the $L^r$ estimate for the special multiplier $m_1(ξ_1, η_1, ζ_1) m_2(η_2, ζ_2)$ (see Theorem 1.7). We also study these $L^r$ estimates for the corresponding bi-parameter trilinear pseudo-differential operators defined by $$ T_{ab}(f,g,h)(x):=\int_{\mathbb{R}^6}a(x,ξ,η,ζ)b(x,η,ζ)\hat f(ξ)\hat g(η)\hat h(ζ)e^{2πi x(ξ+η+ζ)}dξdηdζ, $$ where the smooth symbols $a,b$ satisfy certain bi-parameter Hörmander conditions. We will also show that the $L^r$ estimate holds for $T_{ab}$ as long as the $L^r$ estimate for the flag multiplier operator holds when the multiplier has the special form $m_1(ξ_1, η_1, ζ_1) m_2(η_2, ζ_2)$ (see Theorem 1.10). The bi-parameter and trilinear flag Fourier multipliers considered in this paper do not satisfy the conditions of the classical bi-parameter trilinear Fourier multipliers considered by Muscalu, Tao, Thiele and the second author [21, 22]. They may also be viewed as the bi-parameter trilinear variants of estimates obtained for the one-parameter flag paraproducts by Muscalu [18].

$L^p$ Boundedness of rough Bi-parameter Fourier Integral Operators

In this paper, we will investigate the boundedness of the bi-parameter Fourier integral operators (or FIOs for short) of the following form: $$T(f)(x)=\frac{1}{(2π)^{2n}}\int_{\mathbb{R}^{2n}}e^{iφ(x,ξ,η)}\cdot a(x,ξ,η)\cdot\widehat{f}(ξ,η)dξdη,$$ where for $x=(x_1,x_2)\in \mathbb{R}^{n}\times \mathbb{R}^{n}$ and $ξ,η\in \mathbb{R}^{n}\setminus\{0\}$, the amplitude $a(x,ξ,η)\in L^\infty BS^m_ρ$ and the phase function is of the form $ φ(x,ξ,η)=φ_1(x_1,ξ)+φ_2(x_2,η)$ with $\quad φ_1,φ_2 \in L^\infty Φ^2 (\mathbb{R}^{n}\times\mathbb{R}^{n}\setminus\{0\})$ and $φ(x, ξ, η)$ satisfies a certain rough non-degeneracy condition. The study of these operators are motivated by the $L^p$ estimates for one-parameter FIOs and bi-parameter Fourier multipliers and pseudo-differential operators. We will first define the bi-parameter FIOs and then study the $L^p$ boundedness of such operators when their phase functions have compact support in frequency variables with certain necessary non-degeneracy conditions. We will then establish the $L^p$ boundedness of the more general FIOs with amplitude $a(x,ξ,η)\in L^\infty BS^m_ρ$ and non-smooth phase function $φ(x,ξ,η)$ on $x$ satisfying a rough non-degeneracy condition.

Best constants and existence of maximizers for weighted Moser-Trudinger inequalities

In this paper, we will establish the best constants for certain classes of weighted Moser-Trudinger inequalities on the entire Euclidean spaces $\mathbb{R}^N$. We will also prove the existence of maximizers of these sharp weighted inequalities. The class of functions considered here are not necessarily spherically symmetric. Our inequality in Theorem 1.1 improves the earlier one where such type of inequality was only considered for spherically symmetric functions by M. Ishiwata, M. Nakamura, H. Wadade in \cite{INW} (except in the case $s\not=0$). Since $\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}Φ_N(α|u|^{N/(N-1)})\frac{dx}{|x|^t}\le \int_{\mathbb{R}^N}e^{α|u|^{N/(N-1)}}|u|^N\frac{dx}{|x|^t}$, our inequality in Theorem 1.2 is stronger than the inequality in Theorem 1.1. We note that it suffices for us to prove the above inequalities for all functions not necessarily radially symmetric when $s=t$ by the well-known Caffareli-Kokn-Nirenberg inequalities \cite{CKN}.

Equivalence of critical and subcritical sharp Trudinger-Moser-Adams inequalities

Sharp Trudinger-Moser inequalities on the first order Sobolev spaces and their analogous Adams inequalities on high order Sobolev spaces play an important role in geometric analysis, partial differential equations and other branches of modern mathematics. Such geometric inequalities have been studied extensively by many authors in recent years and there is a vast literature. There are two types of such optimal inequalities: critical and subcritical sharp inequalities, both are with best constants. Critical sharp inequalities are under the restriction of the full Sobolev norms for the functions under consideration, while the subcritical inequalities are under the restriction of the partial Sobolev norms for the functions under consideration. There are subtle differences between these two type of inequalities. Surprisingly, we prove in this paper that these critical and subcritical Trudinger-Moser and Adams inequalities are actually equivalent. Moreover, we also establish the asymptotic behavior of the supremum for the subcritical Trudinger-Moser and Adams inequalities on the entire Euclidean spaces (Theorem 1.1 and Theorem 1.3) and provide a precise relationship between the supremums for the critical and subcritical Trudinger-Moser and Adams inequalities (Theorem 1.2 and Theorem 1.4).

Hardy Space Estimates for Littlewood-Paley-Stein Square Functions and Calderón-Zygmund Operators

In this work, we give new sufficient conditions for a Littlewood-Paley-Stein square function and necessary and sufficient conditions for a Calderón-Zygmund operator to be bounded on Hardy spaces $H^p$ with indices smaller than $1$. New Carleson measure type conditions are defined for Littlewood-Paley-Stein operators, and we show that they are sufficient for the associated square function to be bounded from $H^p$ into $L^p$. New polynomial growth $BMO$ conditions are also introduced for Calderón-Zygmund operators. These results are applied to prove that Bony paraproducts can be constructed such that they are bounded on Hardy spaces with exponents ranging all the way down to zero.

Sharp constants and optimizers for a class of the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities

In this paper, we will use a suitable tranform to investigate the sharp constants and optimizers for the following Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities for a wide range of parameters $(r,p,q,s,μ,σ)$ and $0\leq a\leq1$: \begin{equation} \left({\displaystyle\int} \left\vert u\right\vert ^{r}\frac{dx}{\left\vert x\right\vert ^{s}}\right)^{1/r}\leq C\left( {\displaystyle\int} \left\vert \nabla u\right\vert ^{p}\frac{dx}{\left\vert x\right\vert ^μ% }\right) ^{a/p}\left({\displaystyle\int} \left\vert u\right\vert ^{q}\frac{dx}{\left\vert x\right\vert ^σ% }\right) ^{\left( 1-a\right) /q}. \end{equation} We are able to compute the best constants and the explicit forms of the extremal functions in numerous cases. When $0<a<1$, we can deduce the existence and symmetry of optimizers for a wide range of parameters. Moreover, in the particular classes $r=p\frac{q-1}{p-1}$ and $q=p\frac{r-1}{p-1}$, the forms of maximizers will also be provided in the spirit of Del Pino and Dolbeault ([12], 13]). In the case $a=1$, that is the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequality without the interpolation term, we will provide the exact maximizers for all the range of $μ\geq0$. The Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities with arbitrary norms on the Euclidean spaces will also be considered in the spirit of Cordero-Erausquin, Nazaret and Villani [10].

$L^{p}$ estimates for bilinear and multi-parameter Hilbert transforms

C. Muscalu, J. Pipher, T. Tao and C. Thiele proved in \cite{MPTT1} that the standard bilinear and bi-parameter Hilbert transform does not satisfy any $L^{p}$ estimates. They also raised a question asking if a bilinear and bi-parameter multiplier operator defined by $$ T_{m}(f_{1},f_{2})(x):=\int_{\mathbb{R}^{4}}m(ξ,η)\hat{f_{1}}(ξ_{1},η_{1})\hat{f_{2}}(ξ_{2},η_{2})e^{2πix\cdot((ξ_{1},η_{1})+(ξ_{2},η_{2}))}dξdη$$ satisfies any $L^p$ estimates, where the symbol $m$ satisfies $$ |\partial_ξ^α\partial_η^βm(ξ,η)|\lesssim\frac{1}{dist(ξ,Γ_{1})^{|α|}}\cdot\frac{1}{dist(η,Γ_{2})^{|β|}} $$ for sufficiently many multi-indices $α=(α_{1},α_{2})$ and $β=(β_{1},β_{2})$, $Γ_{i}$ ($i=1,2$) are subspaces in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$ and $dim \, Γ_{1}=0, \, dim \, Γ_{2}=1$. P. Silva answered partially this question in \cite{S} and proved that $T_{m}$ maps $L^{p_1}\times L^{p_2}\rightarrow L^{p}$ boundedly when $\frac{1}{p_1}+\frac{1}{p_2}=\frac{1}{p}$ with $p_1, p_2>1$, $\frac{1}{p_1}+\frac{2}{p_2}<2$ and $\frac{1}{p_2}+\frac{2}{p_1}<2$. One observes that the admissible range here for these tuples $(p_1,p_2,p)$ is a proper subset contained in the admissible range of BHT. In this paper, we establish the same $L^{p}$ estimates as BHT in the full range for the bilinear and multi-parameter Hilbert transforms with arbitrary symbols satisfying appropriate decay assumptions (Theorem 1.3). Moreover, we also establish the same $L^p$ estimates as BHT for certain modified bilinear and bi-parameter Hilbert transforms with $dim \, Γ_{1}=dim \, Γ_{2}=1$ but with a slightly better decay than that for the bilinear and bi-parameter Hilbert transform (Theorem 1.4).

$L^{p}$ estimates for the bilinear Hilbert transform for $1/2<p\leq2/3$: A counterexample and generalizations to non-smooth symbols

M. Lacey and C. Thiele proved in [27] (Annals of Math. (1997)) and [28] (Annals of Math. (1999)) that the bilinear Hilbert transform maps $L^{p_1}\times L^{p_2}\rightarrow L^{p}$ boundedly when $\frac{1}{p_1}+\frac{1}{p_2}=\frac{1}{p}$ with $1<p_{1}, \, p_{2}\leq\infty$ and $\frac{2}{3}<p<\infty$. Whether the $L^p$ estimates hold in the range $p\in (1/2,2/3]$ has remained an open problem since then. In this paper, we prove that the bilinear Hilbert transform does not map $\mathcal{F}L^{p'_{1}}\times L^{p_{2}}\rightarrow L^{p}$ for $p_1<2$ and $L^{p_{1}}\times \mathcal{F}L^{p'_{2}}\rightarrow L^{p}$ for $p_2<2$ boundedly (Theorem 1.2). In particular, this shows that the bilinear Hilbert transform neither maps $\mathcal{F}L^{p'_{1}}\times L^{p_{2}}\rightarrow L^{p}$ nor $L^{p_{1}}\times \mathcal{F}L^{p'_{2}}\rightarrow L^{p}$ for $\frac{1}{2}<p<\frac{2}{3}$. Nevertheless, we can establish $L^p$ estimates for the bilinear Fourier multipliers whose symbols are not identical to but arbitrarily close to that of the bilinear Hilbert transform in the full range $p\in(1/2,\infty)$ (Theorem 1.3).

The Maximum Principles and Symmetry results for Viscosity Solutions of Fully Nonlinear Equations

This paper is concerned about maximum principles and radial symmetry for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear partial differential equations. We obtain the radial symmetry and monotonicity properties for nonnegative viscosity solutions of begin{equation}F (D^2 u)+u^p=0 \quad \quad \mbox{in}\ \mathbb R^n \label{abs}\end{equation} under the asymptotic decay rate $u=o(|x|^{-\frac{2}{p-1}})$ at infinity, where $p>1$ (Theorem 1, Corollary 1). As a consequence of our symmetry results, we obtain the nonexistence of any nontrivial and nonnegative solution when $F$ is the Pucci extremal operators (Corollary 2). Our symmetry and monotonicity results also apply to Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman or Isaccs equations. A new maximum principle for viscosity solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations is established (Theorem 2). As a result, different forms of maximum principles on bounded and unbounded domains are obtained. Radial symmetry, monotonicity and the corresponding maximum principle for fully nonlinear elliptic equations in a punctured ball are shown (Theorem 3). We also investigate the radial symmetry for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear parabolic partial differential equations (Theorem 4).

Flag Hardy spaces and Marcinkiewicz multipliers on the Heisenberg group: an expanded version

Marcinkiewicz multipliers are L^{p} bounded for 1<p<\infty on the Heisenberg group H^{n}\simeqC^{n}\timesR (D. Muller, F. Ricci and E. M. Stein) despite the lack of a two parameter group of automorphic dilations on H^{n}. This lack of dilations underlies the inability of classical one or two parameter Hardy space theory to handle Marcinkiewicz multipliers on H^{n} when 0<p\leq1. We address this deficiency by developing a theory of flag Hardy spaces H_{flag}^{p} on the Heisenberg group, 0<p\leq1, that is in a sense `intermediate' between the classical Hardy spaces H^{p} and the product Hardy spaces H_{product}^{p} on C^{n}\timesR. We show that flag singular integral operators, which include the aforementioned Marcinkiewicz multipliers, are bounded on H_{flag}^{p}, as well as from H_{flag}^{p} to L^{p}, for 0<p\leq1. We characterize the dual spaces of H_{flag}^{1} and H_{flag}^{p}, and establish a Calderón-Zygmund decomposition that yields standard interpolation theorems for the flag Hardy spaces H_{flag}^{p}. In particular, this recovers the L^{p} results by interpolating between those for H_{flag}^{p} and L^{2} (but regularity sharpness is lost).

Liouville-type theorems for fully nonlinear elliptic equation in half spaces

In \cite{LWZ}, we establish Liouville-type theorems and decay estimates for solutions of a class of high order elliptic equations and systems without the boundedness assumptions on the solutions. In this paper, we continue our work in \cite{LWZ} to investigate the role of boundedness assumption in proving Liouville-type theorems for fully nonlinear equations. We remove the boundedness assumption of solutions which was required in the proof of Liouville-type theorems for fully nonlinear elliptic equations or systems in half spaces. We also prove the Liouville-type theorems for supersolutions of a system of fully nonlinear equations with Pucci extremal operators in half spaces.

An overdetermined problem in Riesz-potential and fractional Laplacian

The main purpose of this paper is to address two open questions raised by W. Reichel on characterizations of balls in terms of the Riesz potential and fractional Laplacian. For a bounded $C^1$ domain $Ω\subset \mathbb R^N$, we consider the Riesz-potential $$u(x)=\int_Ω\frac{1}{|x-y|^{N-α}} \,dy$$ for $2\leq α\not =N$. We show that $u=$ constant on the boundary of $Ω$ if and only if $Ω$ is a ball. In the case of $ α=N$, the similar characterization is established for the logarithmic potential. We also prove that such a characterization holds for the logarithmic Riesz potential. This provides a characterization for the overdetermined problem of the fractional Laplacian. These results answer two open questions of W. Reichel to some extent.

Existence and multiplicity of solutions to equations of $N-$Laplacian type with critical exponential growth in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$

In this paper, we deal with the existence and multiplicity of solutions to the nonuniformly elliptic equation of the N-Lapalcian type with a potential and a nonlinear term of critical exponential growth and satisfying the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. In spite of a possible failure of the Palais-Smale compactness condition, in this article we apply minimax method to obtain the weak solution to such an equation. In particular, in the case of $N-$Laplacian, using the minimization and the Ekeland variational principle, we obtain multiplicity of weak solutions. Finally, we will prove the above results when our nonlinearity doesn't satisfy the well-known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and thus derive the existence and multiplicity of solutions for a much wider class of nonlinear terms $f$.

Sharp Adams type inequalities in Sobolev spaces $W^{m,\frac{n}{m}}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ for arbitrary integer $m$

The main purpose of our paper is to prove sharp Adams-type inequalities in unbounded domains of $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ for the Sobolev space $W^{m,\frac{n}{m}}\left(\mathbb{R} ^{n}\right)$ for any positive integer $m$ less than $n$. Our results complement those of Ruf and Sani \cite{RS} where such inequalities are only established for even integer $m$. Our inequalities are also a generalization of the Adams-type inequalities in the special case $n=2m=4$ proved in \cite{Y} and stronger than those in \cite{RS} when $n=2m$ for all positive integer $m$ by using different Sobolev norms.

Sharp singular Adams inequalities in high order Sobolev spaces

In this paper, we prove a version of weighted inequalities of exponential type for fractional integrals with sharp constants in any domain of finite measure in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. Using this we prove a sharp singular Adams inequality in high order Sobolev spaces in bounded domain at critical case. Then we prove sharp singular Adams inequalities for high order derivatives on unbounded domains. Our results extend the singular Moser-Trudinger inequalities of first order in \cite{Ad2, R, LR, AdY} to the higher order Sobolev spaces $W^{m,\frac{n}{m}}$ and the results of \cite{RS} on Adams type inequalities in unbounded domains to singular case. Our singular Adams inequality on $W^{2,2}(\mathbb{R}^{4})$ with standard Sobolev norm at the critical case settles a unsolved question remained in \cite{Y}.

N-Laplacian equations in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ with subcritical and critical growth without the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition

Let $Ω$ be a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$. In this paper, we consider the following nonlinear elliptic equation of $N$-Laplacian type: $-Δ_{N}u=f(x,u)$ where $u\in W_{0}^{1,2}\{0}$ when $f$ is of subcritical or critical exponential growth. This nonlinearity is motivated by the Moser-Trudinger inequality. In fact, we will prove the existence of a nontrivial nonnegative solution to the above equation without the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz $(AR)$ condition. Earlier works in the literature on the existence of nontrivial solutions to $N-$Laplacian in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ when the nonlinear term $f$ has the exponential growth only deal with the case when $f$ satisfies the $(AR)$ condition. Our approach is based on a suitable version of the Mountain Pass Theorem introduced by G. Cerami \cite{Ce1, Ce2}. This approach can also be used to yield an existence result for the $p$-Laplacian equation ($1<p<N$) in the subcritical polynomial growth case.
