Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of generalized binomial edge ideals of graphs

In this paper, we mainly study the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the generalized binomial edge ideals of graphs. We show that this number can be any integer number from $2$ to $n-1$ where $n$ is the number of vertices in the underlying graph. We are able to show this, after giving some tight lower and upper bounds for the regularity of generalized binomial edge ideals of the join product of graphs. In particular, we characterize all generalized binomial edge ideals with the regularity equal to~$2$ as well as extremal Gorenstein ideals. For this purpose, we give a new combinatorial characterization for the class of $P_4$-free graphs.

Freiman Borel type ideals

An equigenerated monomial ideal $I$ in the polynomial ring $S= K[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$ is a Freiman ideal if $μ(I^2)=\ell(I)μ(I)-{\ell(I)\choose 2}$ where $\ell(I)$ is the analytic spread of $I$ and $μ(I)$ is the number of minimal generators of $I$. In this paper, we classify certain classes of Borel type ideals, including Borel ideals with multiple Borel generators and principal $k$-Borel ideals, which are Freiman.

The edge ideals of the join of some vertex weighted oriented graphs

In this paper, we describe primary decomposition of the edge ideal of the join of some graphs in terms of that information of the edge ideal of every weighted oriented graph. Meanwhile, we also study depth and regularity of symbolic powers and ordinary powers of such an edge ideal. We explicitly compute depth and regularity of ordinary powers of the edge ideal of the join of two graphs consisting of isolated vertices, and also provide upper bounds of regularity of symbolic powers of such an edge ideal. For the edge ideal of the join of two graphs with at least an oriented edge for per graph, we give the exact formulas for their depth and regularity, and also provide the upper bounds of regularity of ordinary powers of such an edge ideal. Some examples show that these upper bounds can be obtained, but may be strict.

Homological shift ideals

For a monomial ideal $I$, we consider the $i$th homological shift ideal of $I$, denoted by $\text{HS}_i(I)$, that is, the ideal generated by the $i$th multigraded shifts of $I$. Some algebraic properties of this ideal are studied. It is shown that for any monomial ideal $I$ and any monomial prime ideal $P$, $\text{HS}_i(I(P))\subseteq \text{HS}_i(I)(P)$ for all $i$, where $I(P)$ is the monomial localization of $I$. In particular, we consider the homological shift ideal of some families of monomial ideals with linear quotients. For any $\textbf{c}$-bounded principal Borel ideal $I$ and for the edge ideal of complement of any path graph, it is proved that $\text{HS}_i(I)$ has linear quotients for all $i$. As an example of $\textbf{c}$-bounded principal Borel ideals, Veronese type ideals are considered and it is shown that the homological shift ideal of these ideals are polymatroidal. This implies that for any polymatroidal ideal which satisfies the strong exchange property, $\text{HS}_j(I)$ is again a polymatroidal ideal for all $j$. Moreover, for any edge ideal with linear resolution, the ideal $\text{HS}_j(I)$ is characterized and it is shown that $\text{HS}_1(I)$ has linear quotients.

Depth and Stanley depth of the path ideal associated to an $n$-cyclic graph

We compute the depth and Stanley depth for the quotient ring of the path ideal of length $3$ associated to a $n$-cyclic graph, given some precise formulas for depth when $n\not\equiv 1\,(\mbox{mod}\ 4)$, tight bounds when $n\equiv 1\,(\mbox{mod}\ 4)$ and for Stanley depth when $n\equiv 0,3\,(\mbox{mod}\ 4)$, tight bounds when $n\equiv 1,2\,(\mbox{mod}\ 4)$. Also, we give some formulas for depth and Stanley depth of a quotient of the path ideals of length $n-1$ and $n$.

Projective dimension and regularity of the path ideal of the line graph

By generalizing the notion of the path ideal of a graph, we study some algebraic properties of some path ideals associated to a line graph. We show that the quotient ring of these ideals are always sequentially Cohen-Macaulay and also provide some exact formulas for the projective dimension and the regularity of these ideals. As some consequences, we give some exact formulas for the depth of these ideals.

Cartan maps and projective modules

Let $R$ be a commutative ring, $π$ be a finite group, $Rπ$ be the group ring of $π$ over $R$. Theorem 1. If $R$ is a commutative artinian ring and $π$ is a finite group. Then the Cartan map $c:K_0(Rπ)\to G_0(Rπ)$ is injective. Theorem 2. Suppose that $R$ is a Dedekind domain with $\fn{char}R=p>0$ and $π$ is a $p$-group. Then every finitely generated projective $Rπ$-module is isomorphic to $F \oplus cA$ where $F$ is a free module and $cA$ is a projective ideal of $Rπ$. Moreover, $R$ is a principal ideal domain if and only if every finitely generated projective $Rπ$-module is isomorphic to a free module. Theorem 3. Let $R$ be a commutative noetherian ring with total quotient ring $K$, $A$ be an $R$-algebra which is a finitely generated $R$-projective module. Suppose that $I$ is an ideal of $R$ such that $R/I$ is artinian. Let $\{cM_1,\ldots,cM_n\}$ be the set of all maximal ideals of $R$ containing $I$. Assume that the Cartan map $c_i: K_0(A/cM_iA)\to G_0(A/cM_iA)$ is injective for all $1\le i\le n$. If $P$ and $Q$ are finitely generated $A$-projective modules with $KP\simeq KQ$, then $P/IP\simeq Q/IQ$.
