Local convergence of large random triangulations coupled with an Ising model

We prove the existence of the local weak limit of the measure obtained by sampling random triangulations of size $n$ decorated by an Ising configuration with a weight proportional to the energy of this configuration. To do so, we establish the algebraicity and the asymptotic behaviour of the partition functions of triangulations with spins for any boundary condition. In particular, we show that these partition functions all have the same phase transition at the same critical temperature. Some properties of the limiting object -- called the Infinite Ising Planar Triangulation -- are derived, including the recurrence of the simple random walk at the critical temperature.

Fighting Fish: enumerative properties

Fighting fish were very recently introduced by the authors as combinatorial structures made of square tiles that form two dimensional branching surfaces. A main feature of these fighting fish is that the area of uniform random fish of size $n$ scales like $n^{5/4}$ as opposed to the typical $n^{3/2}$ area behavior of the staircase or direct convex polyominoes that they generalize. In this extended abstract we concentrate on enumerative properties of fighting fish: in particular we provide a new decomposition and we show that the number of fighting fish with $i$ left lower free edges and $j$ right lower free edges is equal to \begin{equation*} \frac{(2i+j-2)!(2j+i-2)!}{i!j!(2i-1)!(2j-1)!}. \end{equation*} These numbers are known to count rooted planar non-separable maps with $i+1$ vertices and $j+1$ faces, or two-stack-sortable permutations with respect to ascending and descending runs, or left ternary trees with respect to vertices with even and odd abscissa. However we have been unable until now to provide any explicit bijection between our fish and such structures. Instead we provide new refined generating series for left ternary trees to prove further equidistribution results.

Regular colored graphs of positive degree

Regular colored graphs are dual representations of pure colored D-dimensional complexes. These graphs can be classified with respect to an integer, their degree, much like maps are characterized by the genus. We analyse the structure of regular colored graphs of fixed positive degree and perform their exact and asymptotic enumeration. In particular we show that the generating function of the family of graphs of fixed degree is an algebraic series with a positive radius of convergence, independant of the degree. We describe the singular behavior of this series near its dominant singularity, and use the results to establish the double scaling limit of colored tensor models.

Bijections for simple and double Hurwitz numbers

We give a bijective proof of Hurwitz formula for the number of simple branched coverings of the sphere by itself. Our approach extends to double Hurwitz numbers and yields new properties for them. In particular we prove for double Hurwitz numbers a conjecture of Kazarian and Zvonkine, and we give an expression that in a sense interpolates between two celebrated polynomiality properties: polynomiality in chambers for double Hurwitz numbers, and a new analog for almost simple genus 0 Hurwitz numbers of the polynomiality up to normalization of simple Hurwitz numbers of genus $g$. Some probabilistic implications of our results for random branched coverings are briefly discussed in conclusion.

A bijection for rooted maps on orientable surfaces

The enumeration of maps and the study of uniform random maps have been classical topics of combinatorics and statistical physics ever since the seminal work of Tutte in the sixties. Following the bijective approach initiated by Cori and Vauquelin in the eighties, we describe a bijection between rooted maps, or rooted bipartite quadrangulations, on a surface of genus g and some simpler objects that generalize plane trees. Thanks to a rerooting argument, our bijection allows to compute the generating series of rooted maps on a surface of genus g with respect to the number of edges, and to recover the asymptotic numbers of such maps. Our construction allows to keep track in a bipartite quadrangulation of the distances of all vertices to a random basepoint. This is an analog for higher genus surfaces of the basic result on which were built the recent advances in the comprehension of the intrinsec geometry of large random planar maps, hopefully opening the way to the study of a model of continuum random surfaces of genus g.
