Biharmonic Steklov operator on differential forms

We introduce the biharmonic Steklov problem on differential forms by considering suitable boundary conditions. We characterize its smallest eigenvalue and prove elementary properties of the spectrum. We obtain various estimates for the first eigenvalue, some of which involve eigenvalues of other problems such as the Dirichlet, Neumann, Robin and Steklov ones. Independently, new inequalities relating the eigenvalues of the latter problems are proved.

An Obata-type characterization of doubly-warped product K\''ahler manifolds

We give a characterization {\sl à la Obata} for certain families of K\''ahler manifolds. These results are in the same line as other extensions of the well-known Obata's rigidity theorem from \cite{Obata62}, like for instance the generalizations in \cite{RanjSant97} and \cite{Santhanam07}. Moreover, we give a complete description of the so-called K\''ahler doubly-warped product structures whose underlying metric is Einstein.

Skew Killing spinors in four dimensions

This paper is devoted to the classification of 4-dimensional Riemannian spin manifolds carrying skew Killing spinors. A skew Killing spinor $ψ$ is a spinor that satisfies the equation $\nabla$X$ψ$ = AX $\times$ $ψ$ with a skew-symmetric endomorphism A. We consider the degenerate case, where the rank of A is at most two everywhere and the non-degenerate case, where the rank of A is four everywhere. We prove that in the degenerate case the manifold is locally isometric to the Riemannian product R x N with N having a skew Killing spinor and we explain under which conditions on the spinor the special case of a local isometry to S 2 x R 2 occurs. In the non-degenerate case, the existence of skew Killing spinors is related to doubly warped products whose defining data we will describe.

Essential norms of Volterra and Cesàro operators on Müntz spaces

We study the properties of the Volterra and Cesàro operators viewed on the $L^1$-Müntz space $M_Λ^1$ with range in the space of continuous functions. These operators are neither compact nor weakly compact. We estimate how far from being (weakly) compact they are by computing their (generalized) essential norm. It turns out that this latter does not depend on $Λ$ and is equal to $1/2$.

Rigidity results for Riemannian spin^c manifolds with foliated boundary

Given a Riemannian spin^c manifold whose boundary is endowed with a Riemannian flow, we show that any solution of the basic Dirac equation satisfies an integral inequality depending on geometric quantities, such as the mean curvature and the O'Neill tensor. We then characterize the equality case of the inequality when the ambient manifold is a domain of a Kähler-Einstein manifold or a Riemannian product of a Kähler-Einstein manifold with R (or with the circle S^1).

Eigenvalue Estimate for the basic Laplacian on manifolds with foliated boundary

In this paper, we give a sharp lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the basic Laplacian acting on basic $1$-forms defined on a compact manifold whose boundary is endowed with a Riemannian flow. The limiting case gives rise to a particular geometry of the flow and the boundary. Namely, the flow is a local product and the boundary is $η$-umbilical. This allows to characterize the quotient of $\mathbb R\times B'$ by some group $Γ$ as being the limiting manifold. Here $B'$ denotes the unit closed ball. Finally, we deduce several rigidity results describing the product $\mathbb{S}^1\times \mathbb{S}^n$ as the boundary of a manifold.

Rigidity results for spin manifolds with foliated boundary

In this paper, we consider a compact Riemannian manifold whose boundary is endowed with a Riemannian flow. Under a suitable curvature assumption depending on the O'Neill tensor of the flow, we prove that any solution of the basic Dirac equation is the restriction of a parallel spinor field defined on the whole manifold. As a consequence, we show that the flow is a local product. In particular, in the case where solutions of the basic Dirac equation are given by basic Killing spinors, we characterize the geometry of the manifold and the flow.

A new upper bound for the Dirac operator on hypersurfaces

We prove a new upper bound for the first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator of a compact hypersurface in any Riemannian spin manifold carrying a non-trivial twistor spinor without zeros on the hypersurface. The upper bound is expressed as the first eigenvalue of a drifting Schrödinger operator on the hypersurface. Moreover, using a recent approach developed by O. Hijazi and S. Montiel, we completely characterize the equality case when the ambient manifold is the standard hyperbolic space.

Some remarks on Calabi-Yau and hyper-Kähler foliations

We study Riemannian foliations whose transverse Levi-Civita connection $\nabla$ has special holonomy. In particular, we focus on the case where $Hol(\nabla)$ is contained either in SU(n) or in Sp(n). We prove a Weitzenbock formula involving complex basic forms on Kähler foliations and we apply this formula for pointing out some properties of transverse Calabi-Yau structures. This allows us to prove that links provide examples of compact simply-connected contact Calabi-Yau manifolds. Moreover, we show that a simply-connected compact manifold with a Kähler foliation admits a transverse hyper- Kähler structure if and only if it admits a compatible transverse hyper-Hermitian structure. This latter result is the "foliated version" of a theorem proved by Verbitsky. In the last part of the paper we adapt our results to the Sasakian case, showing in addition that a compact Sasakian manifold has trivial transverse holonomy if and only if it is a compact quotient of the Heisenberg Lie group.

The Energy-Momentum tensor on low dimensional $\Spinc$ manifolds

On a compact surface endowed with any $\Spinc$ structure, we give a formula involving the Energy-Momentum tensor in terms of geometric quantities. A new proof of a Bär-type inequality for the eigenvalues of the Dirac operator is given. The round sphere $\mathbb{S}^2$ with its canonical $\Spinc$ structure satisfies the limiting case. Finally, we give a spinorial characterization of immersed surfaces in $\mathbb{S}^2\times \mathbb{R}$ by solutions of the generalized Killing spinor equation associated with the induced $\Spinc$ structure on $\mathbb{S}^2\times \mathbb{R}$

A brief note on the spectrum of the basic Dirac operator

In this paper, we prove the invariance of the spectrum of the basic Dirac operator defined on a Riemannian foliation $(M,\mathcal{F})$ with respect to a change of bundle-like metric. We then establish new estimates for its eigenvalues on spin flows in terms of the O'Neill tensor and the first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator on $M$. We discuss examples and also define a new version of the basic Laplacian whose spectrum does not depend on the choice of bundle-like metric.
