A new determination of higher-order QCD corrections to hadronic $τ$ decays

We employ \textit{Levin-type sequence transformations} to accelerate the convergence of the perturbative fixed-order expansion of the QCD correction $δ^{(0)}$ in terms of the strong coupling $α_s$. The method efficiently resums the series, yielding a stable and self-consistent determination of higher-order QCD corrections to hadronic $τ$ decays, consistent with existing results. We find $δ^{(0)}_{\text{Levin-FOPT}} = 0.2089 \pm 0.0040 \, \pm 0.0060_{α_s} \, $, and predict $ c_{5,1} = 278^{+27}_{-19}, \quad c_{6,1} = 3375^{+489}_{-209}, \quad c_{7,1} = (2.03^{+0.41}_{-0.25}) \times 10^4. $ Our results demonstrate that Levin-type transformations provide an efficient framework for analyzing asymptotic perturbative series, and studying the higher order perturbative behaviour of the hadronic $τ$ decays.

Phenomenology of the standard HVM and 95.4 GeV excess

We investigate the collider phenomenology of the standard Hierarchical VEVs Model by proposing a new version, which avoids large flavor changing neutral current interactions, thus, rendering the scale of new physics as low as the electroweak scale. The resulting collider signatures are distinctive and testable at the High-Luminosity LHC, the High-Energy LHC, and future 100\,TeV hadron colliders. Remarkably, one of the pseudoscalars in the model can account for the 95.4\,GeV di-photon excess observed by ATLAS and CMS. In addition, the model naturally accommodates a new class of neutrino-philic dark matter candidate, \emph{neutrinic dark matter}, that interacts exclusively with neutrino pairs.

Origin of the VEVs hierarchy

We present an origin of the VEVs hierarchy in a non-minimal technicolour framework which is capable of explaining the flavour spectrum of the standard model along with neutrino masses and mixing, and simultaneously satisfying crucial experimental bounds. The technicolour scale in this framework can be lower such that a standard model-like Higgs boson emerges from within the model. We also derive lower bound on the mass of the vector technicolour state using the latest experimental bound on the $S$-parameter.

High scale mixing relations as a natural explanation for large neutrino mixing

The origin of small mixing among the quarks and a large mixing among the neutrinos has been an open question in particle physics. In order to answer this question, we postulate general relations among the quarks and the leptonic mixing angles at a high scale, which could be the scale of Grand Unified Theories. The central idea of these relations is that the quark and the leptonic mixing angles can be unified at some high scale either due to some quark-lepton symmetry or some other underlying mechanism and as a consequence, the mixing angles of the leptonic sector are proportional to that of the quark sector. We investigate the phenomenology of the possible relations where the leptonic mixing angles are proportional to the quark mixing angles at the unification scale by taking into account the latest experimental constraints from the neutrino sector. These relations are able to explain the pattern of leptonic mixing at the low scale and thereby hint that these relations could be possible signatures of a quark-lepton symmetry or some other underlying quark-lepton mixing unification mechanism at some high scale linked to Grand Unified Theories.

Right-right-left extension of the standard model

A right-right-left extension of the standard model is proposed. In this model, the standard model gauge group $SU(2)_L \otimes U(1)_Y $ is extended to $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R \otimes SU(2)^{\prime}_R \otimes SU(2)^{\prime}_L \otimes U(1)_{Y}$. The gauge symmetries $SU(2)^{\prime}_R$, $SU(2)^{\prime}_L$ are the mirror counter-parts of the $SU(2)_L$ and $SU(2)_R$ respectively. Parity is spontaneously broken when the scalar Higgs fields acquire vacuum-expectation values in a certain pattern. Parity is restored at the scale of $SU(2)^{\prime}_L$. The gauge sector has a unique pattern. The scalar sector of the model is optimum, elegant and unique.

Flavour-changing top decays in the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model

We perform a complete one-loop computation of the two-body flavour-changing top decays $t \rightarrow c h$ and $t \rightarrow c V$ ($V= γ, Z$), within the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model. We evaluate the impact of the model parameters on the associated branching ratios, taking into account constraints from flavour data and measurements of the Higgs properties. Assuming that the $125$~GeV Higgs corresponds to the lightest CP-even scalar of the CP-conserving aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, we find that the rates for such flavour-changing top decays lie below the expected sensitivity of the future high-luminosity phase of the LHC. Measurements of the Higgs signal strength in the di-photon channel are found to play an important role in limiting the size of the $t \rightarrow c h$ decay rate when the charged scalar of the model is light.

High Scale Mixing Unification for Dirac Neutrinos

Starting with high scale mixing unification hypothesis, we investigate the renormalization group evolution of mixing parameters and masses for Dirac type neutrinos. Following this hypothesis, the PMNS mixing angles and phase are taken to be identical to the CKM ones at a unifying high scale. Then, they are evolved to a low scale using renormalization-group equations. The notable feature of this hypothesis is that renormalization group evolution with quasi-degenerate mass pattern can explain largeness of leptonic mixing angles even for Dirac neutrinos. The renormalization group evolution "naturally" results in a non-zero and small value of leptonic mixing angle $θ_{13}$. One of the important predictions of this work is that the mixing angle $θ_{23}$ is non-maximal and lies only in the second octant. We also derive constraints on the allowed parameter range for the SUSY breaking and unification scales for which this hypothesis works. The results are novel and can be tested by present and future experiments.

Non-leptonic decays of Charmed mesons into two Pseudoscalars

We examine the role of resonant coupled channel final state interactions (FSI), as well as weak annihilation and exchange contributions in explaining all the two body hadronic $D\rightarrow PP$ decay modes data. In the un-unitarized amplitudes we include modified Wilson coefficients with non-factorizable corrections as parameters. For the hadronic form factors, the z-series expansion method is used to get the $q^2$ dependence. The FSI effects are incorporated via a phenomenological approach with widths of resonances to various channels taken from observations where available, and others as additional parameters to be determined from fits of all the theoretical rates to the measured ones. Our results for the rather hard to explain $D^0\rightarrow K^+K^-, π^+π^- $ are in agreement with measured values. We demonstrate that both weak exchange as well as FSI effects are required to get the correct branching ratio for the $D^ \rightarrow K^0\bar{K^0}$ mode. Using our unitarized amplitudes we evaluate the strong phase difference between the amplitudes for $D^0\rightarrow K^-π^+$ and $D^0\rightarrow K^+π^-$ and find it to be in complete agreement with the recent BES III result.

Predictions from High Scale Mixing Unification Hypothesis

We investigate the renormalization group evolution of masses and mixing angles of Majorana neutrinos under the `High Scale Mixing Unification' hypothesis. Assuming the unification of quark-lepton mixing angles at a high scale, we show that all the experimentally observed neutrino oscillation parameters can be obtained, within 3-$σ$ range, through the running of corresponding renormalization group equations provided neutrinos have same CP parity and are quasi-degenerate. One of the novel results of our analysis is that $θ_{23}$ turns out to be non-maximal and lies in the second octant. Furthermore, we derive new constraints on the allowed parameter space for the unification scale, SUSY breaking scale and $\tan β$, for which the `High Scale Mixing Unification' hypothesis works.

Determination of the strong coupling from hadronic tau decays using renormalization group summed perturbation theory

We determine the strong coupling constant α_s from the τhadroni width using a renormalization group summed (RGS) expansion of the QCD Adler function. The main theoretical uncertainty in the extraction of α_s is due to the manner in which renormalization group invariance is implemented, and the as yet uncalculated higher order terms in the QCD perturbative series. We show that new expansion exhibits good renormalization group improvement and the behaviour of the series is similar to that of the standard CIPT expansion. The value of the strong coupling in {\bar{\rm MS}} scheme obtained with the RGS expansion is α_s(M_τ^2)= 0.338 \pm 0.010. The convergence properties of the new expansion can be improved by Borel transformation and analytic continuation in the Borel plane. This is discussed elsewhere in these proceedings.

Expansions of $τ$ hadronic spectral function moments in a nonpower QCD perturbation theory with tamed large order behavior

The moments of the hadronic spectral functions are of interest for the extraction of the strong coupling $α_s$ and other QCD parameters from the hadronic decays of the $τ$ lepton. Motivated by the recent analyses of a large class of moments in the standard fixed-order and contour-improved perturbation theories, we consider the perturbative behavior of these moments in the framework of a QCD nonpower perturbation theory, defined by the technique of series acceleration by conformal mappings, which simultaneously implements renormalization-group summation and has a tame large-order behavior. Two recently proposed models of the Adler function are employed to generate the higher order coefficients of the perturbation series and to predict the exact values of the moments, required for testing the properties of the perturbative expansions. We show that the contour-improved nonpower perturbation theories and the renormalization-group-summed nonpower perturbation theories have very good convergence properties for a large class of moments of the so-called "reference model", including moments that are poorly described by the standard expansions. The results provide additional support for the plausibility of the description of the Adler function in terms of a small number of dominant renormalons.

Perturbative expansion of the QCD Adler function improved by renormalization-group summation and analytic continuation in the Borel plane

We examine the large-order behaviour of a recently proposed renormalization-group-improved expansion of the Adler function in perturbative QCD, which sums in an analytically closed form the leading logarithms accessible from renormalization-group invariance. The expansion is first written as aneffective series in powers of the one-loop coupling, and its leading singularities in the Borel plane are shown to be identical to those of the standard "contour-improved" expansion. Applying the technique of conformal mappings for the analytic continuation in the Borel plane, we define a class of improved expansions, which implement both the renormalization-group invariance and the knowledge about the large-order behaviour of the series. Detailed numerical studies of specific models for the Adler function indicate that the new expansions have remarkable convergence properties up to high orders. Using these expansions for the determination of the strong coupling from the the hadronic width of the $τ$ lepton we obtain, with a conservative estimate of the uncertainty due to the nonperturbative corrections, $α_s(M_τ^2)= 0.3189^{+ 0.0173}_{-0.0151}$, which translates to $α_s(M_Z^2)= 0.1184^{+0.0021}_{-0.0018}$.

Determination of $α_s(M_τ^2)$ from Improved Fixed Order Perturbation Theory

We revisit the extraction of $α_s(M_τ^2)$ from the QCDperturbative corrections to the hadronic $τ$ branching ratio, using an improved fixed-order perturbation theory based on the explicit summation of all renormalization-group accessible logarithms, proposed some time ago in the literature. In this approach, the powers of the coupling in the expansion of the QCD Adler function are multiplied by a set of functions $D_n$, which depend themselves on the coupling and can be written in a closed form by iteratively solving a sequence of differential equations. We find that the new expansion has an improved behavior in the complex energy plane compared to that of the standard fixed-order perturbation theory (FOPT), and is similar but not identical to the contour-improved perturbation theory (CIPT). With five terms in the perturbative expansion we obtain in the ${\bar{\rm MS}}$ scheme $ α_s(M_τ^2)= 0.338 \pm 0.010$, using as input a precise value for the perturbative contribution to the hadronic width of the $τ$ lepton reported recently in the literature.

The $Kπ$ form factors from Analyticity and Unitarity

Analyticity and unitarity techniques are employed to obtain bounds on the shape parameters of the scalar and vector form factors of semileptonic $K_{l3}$ decays. For this purpose we use vector and scalar correlators evaluated in pQCD, a low energy theorem for scalar form factor, lattice results for the ratio of kaon and pion decay constants, chiral perturbation theory calculations for the scalar form factor at the Callan-Treiman point and experimental information on the phase and modulus of $Kπ$ form factors up to an energy $\tin=1 {\rm GeV}^2$. We further derive regions on the real axis and in the complex-energy plane where the form factors cannot have zeros.

Constraining the properties of K_{l3} form factors with analyticity and unitarity

Bounds on the shape parameters of K_{l3} form factors are investigated in a general model independent framework. Using the method of unitarity bounds for correlators evaluated in pQCD, chiral symmetry and experimental information on the phase and modulus of πK form factors up to an energy t_{in}=1 GeV^2, we constrain the shape parameters of the scalar and vector form factors, the value of the scalar form factor at t=M_π^2-M_K^2, and exclude regions where zeros can exist on the real energy line and in the complex energy plane.

Improving the phenomenology of K_{l3} form factors with analyticity and unitarity

The shape of the vector and scalar K_{l3} form factors is investigated by exploiting analyticity and unitarity in a model-independent formalism. The method uses as input dispersion relations for certain correlators computed in perturbative QCD in the deep Euclidean region, soft-meson theorems, and experimental information on the phase and modulus of the form factors along the elastic part of the unitarity cut. We derive constraints on the coefficients of the parameterizations valid in the semileptonic range and on the truncation error. The method also predicts low-energy domains in the complex $t$-plane where zeros of the form factors are excluded. The results are useful for K_{l3} data analyses and provide theoretical underpinning for recent phenomenological dispersive representations for the form factors.

Stringent constraints on the scalar K pi form factor from analyticity, unitarity and low-energy theorems

We investigate the scalar K pi form factor at low energies by the method of unitarity bounds adapted so as to include information on the phase and modulus along the elastic region of the unitarity cut. Using at input the values of the form factor at t=0 and the Callan-Treiman point, we obtain stringent constraints on the slope and curvature parameters of the Taylor expansion at the origin. Also, we predict a quite narrow range for the higher order ChPT corrections at the second Callan-Treiman point.

Theory of unitarity bounds and low energy form factors

We present a general formalism for deriving bounds on the shape parameters of the weak and electromagnetic form factors using as input correlators calculated from perturbative QCD, and exploiting analyticity and unitarity. The values resulting from the symmetries of QCD at low energies or from lattice calculations at special points inside the analyticity domain can beincluded in an exact way. We write down the general solution of the corresponding Meiman problem for an arbitrary number of interior constraints and the integral equations that allow one to include the phase of the form factor along a part of the unitarity cut. A formalism that includes the phase and some information on the modulus along a part of the cut is also given. For illustration we present constraints on the slope and curvature of the K_l3 scalar form factor and discuss our findings in some detail. The techniques are useful for checking the consistency of various inputs and for controlling the parameterizations of the form factors entering precision predictions in flavor physics.
