New analytic continuations for the Appell $F_4$ series from quadratic transformations of the Gauss $_{2}F_1$ function

We present new analytic continuation formulas for the Appell $F_4(a,b;c,d;x,y)$ double hypergeometric series where $d=a-b+1$, which allows quadratic transformations of the Gauss ${}_2F_1$ hypergeometric function to be used in the intermediate steps of the derivation. Such formulas are of relevance to loop calculations of quantum field theory where they can been used, for instance, to obtain new series representations of the two-loop massive sunset Feynman diagram. The analytic continuation procedure introduced in this paper is also sufficiently general so as to find uses elsewhere.

The three-loop QED contributions to the $g-2$ of charged leptons with two internal fermion loops and a class of Kampé de Fériet series

The three-loop QED mass-dependent contributions to the $g-2$ of each of the charged leptons with two internal closed fermion loops, sometimes called $A^{(6)}_3\left(\frac{m_1}{m_2}, \frac{m_1}{m_3}\right)$ in the $g-2$ literature, is revisited using the Mellin-Barnes (MB) representation technique. Results for the muon and $τ$ lepton anomalous magnetic moments $A^{(6)}_{3,μ}$ and $A^{(6)}_{3,τ}$, which were known as series expansions in the lepton mass ratios up to the first few terms only, are extended to their exact expressions. The contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the electron $A^{(6)}_{3,e}$ is also explicitly given in closed form. In addition to this, we show that the different series representations derived from the MB representation collectively converge for all possible values of the masses. Such unexpected behavior is related to the fact that these series bring into play double hypergeometric series that belong to a class of Kampé de Fériet series which we prove to have the same simple convergence and analytic continuation properties as the Appell $F_1$ double hypergeometric series.

New Series Representations for the Two-Loop Massive Sunset Diagram

We derive new convergent series representations for the two-loop sunset diagram with three different propagator masses m1, m2 and m3 and external momentum p by techniques of analytic continuation on a well-known triple series that corresponds to the Lauricella Fc function. The convergence regions of the new series contain regions of interest to physical problems. These include some ranges of masses and squared external momentum values which make them useful from Chiral Perturbation Theory to some regions of the parameter space of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. The analytic continuation results presented on the Lauricella series could be used in other settings as well.

Optimal renormalization and the extraction of the strange quark mass from moments of the $τ$-decay spectral function

We introduce an optimal renormalization group analysis pertinent to the analysis of polarization functions associated with the $s$-quark mass relevant in $τ$-decay. The technique is based on the renormalization group invariance constraints which lead to closed form summation of all the leading and next-to-leading logarithms at each order in perturbation theory. The new perturbation series exhibits reduced sensitivity to the renormalization scale and improved behavior in the complex plane along the integration contour. Using improved experimental and theory inputs, we have extracted the value of the strange quark mass $m_s(2{\rm GeV}) = 106.70 \pm 9.36~{\rm MeV}$ and $m_s(2{\rm GeV}) = 74.47 \pm 7.77~{\rm MeV}$ from presently available ALEPH and OPAL data respectively. These determinations are in agreement with the determinations in other phenomenological methods and from the lattice.

Precise determination of the low-energy hadronic contribution to the muon $g-2$ from analyticity and unitarity: An improved analysis

The two-pion low-energy contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $a_μ\equiv(g-2)_μ/2$, expres sed as an integral over the modulus squared of the pion electromagnetic form fac tor, brings a relatively large contribution to the theoretical error, since the low accuracy of experimental measurements in this region is amplified by the drastic increase of the integration kernel. We derive stringent constraints on the two-pion contribution by exploiting analyticity and unitarity of the pion electromagnetic form factor. To avoid the poor knowledge of the modulus of this function, we use instead its phase, known with high precision in the elastic region from Roy equations for pion-pion scattering via the Fermi-Watson theorem. Above the inelastic threshold we adopt a conservative integral condition on the modulus, determined from data and perturbative QCD. Additional high precision data on the modulus in the range $0.65-0.71$ GeV, obtained from $e^+e^-$ annihilation and $τ$-decay experiments, are used to improve the predictions on the modulus at lower energies by means of a parametrization-free analytic extrapolation. The results are optimal for a given input and do not depend on the unknown phase of the form factor above the inelastic threshold. The present work improves a previous analysis based on the same technique, including more experimental data and employing better statistical tools for their treatment. We obtain for the contribution to $a_μ$ from below 0.63 GeV the value $(133.258 \pm 0.723)\times 10^{-10}$, which amounts to a reduction of the theoretical error by about $6 \times 10^{-11}$.

Invisible decays of the heavier Higgs boson in the minimal supersymmetric standard model

We consider the possibility that the heavier CP-even Higgs boson~($H^0$) in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) decays invisibly into neutralinos in the light of the recent discovery of the 126 GeV resonance at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). For this purpose we consider the minimal supersymmetric standard model with universal, non-universal and arbitrary boundary conditions on the supersymmetry breaking gaugino mass parameters at the grand unified scale. Typically, scenarios with universal and nonuniversal gaugino masses do not allow invisible decays of the lightest Higgs boson~($h^0$), which is identified with the $126$ GeV resonance, into the lightest neutralinos in the MSSM. With arbitrary gaugino masses at the grand unified scale such an invisible decay is possible. The second lightest Higgs boson can decay into various invisible final states for a considerable region of the MSSM parameter space with arbitrary gaugino masses as well as with the gaugino masses restricted by universal and nonuniversal boundary conditions at the grand unified scale. The possibility of the second lightest Higgs boson of the MSSM decaying into invisible channels is more likely for arbitrary gaugino masses at the grand unified scale. The heavier Higgs boson decay into lighter particles leads to the intriguing possibility that the entire Higgs boson spectrum of the MSSM may be visible at the LHC even if it decays invisibly, during the searches for an extended Higgs boson sector at the LHC. In such a scenario the nonobservation of the extended Higgs sector of the MSSM may carefully be used to rule out regions of the MSSM parameter space at the LHC.

Constraints on the $ωπ$ form factor from analyticity and unitarity

Motivated by the discrepancies noted recently between the theoretical calculations of the electromagnetic $ωπ$ form factor and certain experimental data, we investigate this form factor using analyticity and unitarity in a framework known as the method of unitarity bounds. We use a QCD correlator computed on the spacelike axis by operator product expansion and perturbative QCD as input, and exploit unitarity and the positivity of its spectral function, including the two-pion contribution that can be reliably calculated using high-precision data on the pion form factor. From this information, we derive upper and lower bounds on the modulus of the $ωπ$ form factor in the elastic region. The results provide a significant check on those obtained with standard dispersion relations, confirming the existence of a disagreement with experimental data in the region around 0.6 GeV.

New Physics in $e^+e^- \rightarrow Z γ$ at the ILC with polarized beams: Explorations beyond conventional anomalous triple gauge boson coupling

One of the most-studied signals for physics beyond the standard model in the production of gauge bosons in electron-positron collisions is that due to the anomalous triple gauge boson couplings in the $Z γ$ final state. In this work, we study the implications of this at the ILC with polarized beams for signals that go beyond traditional anomalous triple neutral gauge boson couplings. Here we report a dimension-8 CP-conserving $Z γZ$ vertex that has not found mention in the literature. We carry out a systematic study of the anomalous couplings in general terms and arrive at a classification. We then obtain linear-order distributions with and without CP violation. Furthermore, we place the study in the context of general BSM interactions represented by $e^+e^- Z γ$ contact interactions. We set up a correspondence between the triple gauge boson couplings and the four-point contact interactions. We also present sensitivities on these anomalous couplings, which will be achievable at the ILC with realistic polarization and luminosity.

Top Yukawa coupling measurement with indefinite CP Higgs in $e^+e^-\to t\bar{t}Φ$

We consider the issue of the top quark Yukawa coupling measurement in a model in dependent and general case with the inclusion of CP-violation in the coupling. Arguably the best process to study this coupling is the associa ted production of Higgs boson along with a $t\bar t$ pair in a machine like the International Linear Collider (ILC). While detailed analyses of the sensitivity of the measurement assuming a Standard Model (SM) - like coupling are available in the context of ILC, conclude that th e coupling could be pinned down at about 10\% level with modest luminosity, our investigations show that the scenario could be different in case of a more general coupling. The modified Lorentz structure resulting in a changed functional dependence of the cross section on the couplin g, along with the difference in the cross section itself leads to considerable deviation in the sensitivity. Our studies with an ILC of center of mass energies of 500 GeV, 800 GeV and 1000 GeV show that moderate CP-mixing in the Higgs sector could change the sensitivity to about 20\ %, while it could be worsened to 75\% in cases which could accommodate more dramatic changes in the coupling. While detailed considerations of the decay distributions point to a need for a relook at the analysis strategy followed for the case of SM such as for a model independent analysis of the top quark Yukawa coupling measurement. This study strongly suggests that, a joint analysis of the CP properties and the Yukawa coupling measurement would be the way forward at the ILC and that caution must be excercised in the measurem ent of the Yukawa couplings and the conclusions drawn from it.

Two-pion low-energy contribution to the muon $g-2$ with improved precision from analyticity and unitarity

The two-pion contribution from low energies to the muon magnetic moment anomaly, although small, has a large relative uncertainty since in this region the experimental data on the cross sections are neither sufficient nor precise enough. It is therefore of interest to see whether the precision can be improved by means of additional theoretical information on the pion electromagnetic form factor, which controls the leading order contribution. In the present paper we address this problem by exploiting analyticity and unitarity of the form factor in a parametrization-free approach that uses the phase in the elastic region, known with high precision from the Fermi-Watson theorem and Roy equations for $ππ$ elastic scattering as input. The formalism also includes experimental measurements on the modulus in the region 0.65-0.70 GeV, taken from the most recent $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-$ experiments, and recent measurements of the form factor on the spacelike axis. By combining the results obtained with inputs from CMD2, SND, BABAR and KLOE, we make the predictions $a_μ^{ππ, \LO}\,[2 m_π,\, 0.30 \gev]=(0.553 \pm 0.004) \times 10^{-10}$ and $a_μ^{ππ, \LO}\,[0.30 \gev,\, 0.63 \gev]=(133. 083 \pm 0.837)\times 10^{-10}$. These are consistent with the other recent determinations, and have slightly smaller errors.

Determination of the strong coupling from hadronic tau decays using renormalization group summed perturbation theory

We determine the strong coupling constant α_s from the τhadroni width using a renormalization group summed (RGS) expansion of the QCD Adler function. The main theoretical uncertainty in the extraction of α_s is due to the manner in which renormalization group invariance is implemented, and the as yet uncalculated higher order terms in the QCD perturbative series. We show that new expansion exhibits good renormalization group improvement and the behaviour of the series is similar to that of the standard CIPT expansion. The value of the strong coupling in {\bar{\rm MS}} scheme obtained with the RGS expansion is α_s(M_τ^2)= 0.338 \pm 0.010. The convergence properties of the new expansion can be improved by Borel transformation and analytic continuation in the Borel plane. This is discussed elsewhere in these proceedings.

Expansions of $τ$ hadronic spectral function moments in a nonpower QCD perturbation theory with tamed large order behavior

The moments of the hadronic spectral functions are of interest for the extraction of the strong coupling $α_s$ and other QCD parameters from the hadronic decays of the $τ$ lepton. Motivated by the recent analyses of a large class of moments in the standard fixed-order and contour-improved perturbation theories, we consider the perturbative behavior of these moments in the framework of a QCD nonpower perturbation theory, defined by the technique of series acceleration by conformal mappings, which simultaneously implements renormalization-group summation and has a tame large-order behavior. Two recently proposed models of the Adler function are employed to generate the higher order coefficients of the perturbation series and to predict the exact values of the moments, required for testing the properties of the perturbative expansions. We show that the contour-improved nonpower perturbation theories and the renormalization-group-summed nonpower perturbation theories have very good convergence properties for a large class of moments of the so-called "reference model", including moments that are poorly described by the standard expansions. The results provide additional support for the plausibility of the description of the Adler function in terms of a small number of dominant renormalons.

Invisible decays of the lightest Higgs boson in supersymmetric models

We consider supersymmetric models in which the lightest Higgs scalar can decay invisibly consistent with the constraints on the $126$~GeV state discovered at the CERN LHC. We consider the invisible decay in the minimal supersymmetric standard model~(MSSM), as well its extension containing an additional chiral singlet superfield, the so-called next-to-minimal or nonminimal supersymmetric standard model~(NMSSM).We consider the case of MSSM with both universal as well as nonuniversal gaugino masses at the grand unified scale, and find that only an $E_6$ grand unified model with unnaturally large representation can give rise to sufficiently light neutralinos which can possibly lead to the invisible decay $h^0 \rightarrow \tilde χ_1^0 \tilde χ_1^0$. Following this, we consider the case of NMSSM in detail, where also we find that it is not possible to have the invisible decay of the lightest Higgs scalar with universal gaugino masses at the grand unified scale. We delineate the regions of the NMSSM parameter space where it is possible to have the lightest Higgs boson to have a mass of about $126$ GeV, and then concentrate on the region where this Higgs can decay into light neutralinos, with the soft gaugino masses $M_1$ and $M_2$ as two independent parameters, unconstrained by grand unification. We also consider, simultaneously, the other important invisible Higgs decay channel in the NMSSM, namely the decay into the lightest CP odd scalars, $h_1 \to a_1 a_1$, which is studied in detail. With the invisible Higgs branching ratio being constrained by the present LHC results, we find that $μ_{eff} < 170$~GeV and $M_1 < 80$~GeV is disfavored in NMSSM for fixed values of the other input parameters. The dependence of our results on the parameters of NMSSM is discussed in detail.

Parametrization-free determination of the shape parameters for the pion electromagnetic form factor

Recent data from high statistics experiments that have measured the modulus of the pion electromagnetic form factor from threshold to relatively high energies are used as input in a suitable mathematical framework of analytic continuation to find stringent constraints on the shape parameters of the form factor at $t=0$. The method uses also as input a precise description of the phase of the form factor in the elastic region based on Fermi-Watson theorem and the analysis of the $ππ$ scattering amplitude with dispersive Roy equations, and some information on the spacelike region coming from recent high precision experiments. Our analysis confirms the inconsistencies of several data on the modulus, especially from low energies, with analyticity and the input phase, noted in our earlier work. Using the data on the modulus from energies above $0.65 \,{\rm GeV}$, we obtain, with no specific parametrization, the prediction $<r_π^2 \r angle \in\, (0.42,\,0.44)\,\fmsq $ for the charge radius. The same formalism leads also to very narrow allowed ranges for the higher-order shape parameters at $t=0$, with a strong correlation among them.

Perturbative expansion of the QCD Adler function improved by renormalization-group summation and analytic continuation in the Borel plane

We examine the large-order behaviour of a recently proposed renormalization-group-improved expansion of the Adler function in perturbative QCD, which sums in an analytically closed form the leading logarithms accessible from renormalization-group invariance. The expansion is first written as aneffective series in powers of the one-loop coupling, and its leading singularities in the Borel plane are shown to be identical to those of the standard "contour-improved" expansion. Applying the technique of conformal mappings for the analytic continuation in the Borel plane, we define a class of improved expansions, which implement both the renormalization-group invariance and the knowledge about the large-order behaviour of the series. Detailed numerical studies of specific models for the Adler function indicate that the new expansions have remarkable convergence properties up to high orders. Using these expansions for the determination of the strong coupling from the the hadronic width of the $τ$ lepton we obtain, with a conservative estimate of the uncertainty due to the nonperturbative corrections, $α_s(M_τ^2)= 0.3189^{+ 0.0173}_{-0.0151}$, which translates to $α_s(M_Z^2)= 0.1184^{+0.0021}_{-0.0018}$.

Probing the indefinite CP nature of the Higgs Boson through decay distributions in the process $e^+e^-\to t\bar{t}Φ$

The recently discovered scalar resonance at the LHC is now almost confirmed to be a Higgs Boson, whose CP properties are yet to be established. At the ILC with and without polarized beams, it may be possible to probe these properties at high precision. In this work, we study the possibility of probing departures from the pure CP-even case, by using the decay distributions in the process $e^+ e^- \to t \bar{t} Φ$, with $Φ$ mainly decaying into a $b\bar b$ pair. We have compared the case of a minimal extension of the SM case (Model I) with an additional pseudoscalar degree of freedom, with a more realistic case namely the CP-violating Two-Higgs Doublet Model (Model II) that permits a more general description of the couplings. We have considered the ILC with $\sqrt{s}=800$\,GeV and integrated luminosity of $300\, {\rm fb}^{-1}$. Our main findings are that even in the case of small departures from the CP-even case, the decay distributions are sensitive to the presence of a CP-odd component in Model II, while it is difficult to probe these departures in Model I unless the pseudoscalar component is very large. Noting that the proposed degrees of beam polarization increases the statistics, the process demonstrates the effective role of beam polarization in studies beyond the Standard Model. Further, our study shows that an indefinite CP Higgs would be a sensitive laboratory to physics beyond the SM.

Bounds on the spacelike pion electromagnetic form factor from analyticity and unitarity

We use the recently measured accurate BaBaR data on the modulus of the pion electromagnetic form factor, $F_π(t)$, up to an energy of 3 GeV, the I=1 $P$-wave phase of the $ππ$ scattering amplitude up to the $ω-π$ threshold, the pion charge radius known from Chiral Perturbation Theory, and the recently measured JLAB value of $F_π$ in the spacelike region at $t=-2.45 {\rm GeV}^2$ as inputs in a formalism that leads to bounds on $F_π$ in the intermediate spacelike region. We compare our constraints with experimental data and with perturbative QCD along with the results of several theoretical models for the non-perturbative contributions proposed in the literature.

Consistency tests of AMPCALCULATOR and chiral amplitudes in SU(3) Chiral Perturbation Theory: A tutorial based approach

Ampcalculator is a Mathematica based program that was made publicly available some time ago by Unterdorfer and Ecker. It enables the user to compute several processes at one-loop (upto $O(p^4)$) in SU(3) chiral perturbation theory. They include computing matrix elements and form factors for strong and non-leptonic weak processes with at most six external states. It was used to compute some novel processes and was tested against well-known results by the original authors. Here we present the results of several thorough checks of the package. Exhaustive checks performed by the original authors are not publicly available, and hence the present effort. Some new results are obtained from the software especially in the kaon odd-intrinsic parity non-leptonic decay sector involving the coupling $G_{27}$. Another illustrative set of amplitudes at tree level we provide is in the context of $τ$-decays with several mesons including quark mass effects, of use to the BELLE experiment. All eight meson-meson scattering amplitudes have been checked. Kaon-Compton amplitude has been checked and a minor error in published results has been pointed out. This exercise is a tutorial based one, wherein several input and output notebooks are also being made available as ancillary files on the arXiv. Some of the additional notebooks we provide contain explicit expressions that we have used for comparison with established results. The purpose is to encourage users to apply the software to suit their specific needs. An automatic amplitude generator of this type can provide error-free outputs that could be used as inputs for further simplification, and used in varied scenarios such as applications of chiral perturbation theory at finite temperature, density and volume. This can also be used by students as a learning aid in low-energy hadron dynamics.

Constraining Form Factors with the Method of Unitarity Bounds

The availability of a reliable bound on an integral involving the square of the modulus of a form factor on the unitarity cut allows one to constrain the form factor at points inside the analyticity domain and its shape parameters, and also to isolate domains on the real axis and in the complex energy plane where zeros are excluded. In this lecture note, we review the mathematical techniques of this formalism in its standard form, known as the method of unitarity bounds, and recent developments which allow us to include information on the phase and modulus along a part of the unitarity cut. We also provide a brief summary of some results that we have obtained in the recent past, which demonstrate the usefulness of the method for precision predictions on the form factors.

Determination of $α_s(M_τ^2)$ from Improved Fixed Order Perturbation Theory

We revisit the extraction of $α_s(M_τ^2)$ from the QCDperturbative corrections to the hadronic $τ$ branching ratio, using an improved fixed-order perturbation theory based on the explicit summation of all renormalization-group accessible logarithms, proposed some time ago in the literature. In this approach, the powers of the coupling in the expansion of the QCD Adler function are multiplied by a set of functions $D_n$, which depend themselves on the coupling and can be written in a closed form by iteratively solving a sequence of differential equations. We find that the new expansion has an improved behavior in the complex energy plane compared to that of the standard fixed-order perturbation theory (FOPT), and is similar but not identical to the contour-improved perturbation theory (CIPT). With five terms in the perturbative expansion we obtain in the ${\bar{\rm MS}}$ scheme $ α_s(M_τ^2)= 0.338 \pm 0.010$, using as input a precise value for the perturbative contribution to the hadronic width of the $τ$ lepton reported recently in the literature.

Generalized top-spin analysis and new physics in $e^{+} e^{-}$ collisions with beam polarization

A generalized top-spin analysis proposed some time ago in the context of Standard Model and subsequently studied in varying contexts is now applied primarily to the case of $e^+e^-\rightarrow t\bar{t}$ with transversely polarized beams. This extends our recent work with new physics couplings of scalar ($S$) and tensor ($T$) types. We carry out a comprehensive analysis assuming only the electron beam to be transversely polarized, which is sufficient to probe these interactions, and also eliminates any azimuthal angular dependence due to standard model or new physics of vector ($V$) and axial-vector ($A$) type interactions. We then consider new physics of general four-Fermi type of $V$ and $A$ type with both beams transversely polarized and discuss implications with longitudinal polarization as well. The generalized spin bases are all investigated in the presence of either longitudinal or transverse beam polarization to look for appreciable deviation from the SM prediction in case of the new physics. 90% confidence level limits are obtained on the interactions for the generalized spin bases with realistic integrated luminosity. In order to achieve this we present a general discussion based on helicity amplitudes and derive a general transformation matrix that enables us to treat the spin basis. We find that beamline basis combined with transverse polarization provides an excellent window of opportunity both for $S$, $T$ and $V$, $A$ new physics, followed by the off diagonal basis. The helicity basis is shown to be the best in case of longitudinal polarization to look for new physics effectsdue to $V$ and $A$.

Isolating CP-violating γZZ coupling in e+e- \to γZ with transverse beam polarizations

We revisit the process $e^+e^- \to γZ$ at the ILC with transverse beam polarization in the presence of anomalous CP-violating $γZ Z$ coupling $λ_1$ and $γγZ$ coupling $λ_2$. We point out that if the final-state spins are resolved, then it becomes possible to fingerprint the anomalous coupling {\rm Re}$λ_1$.90% confidence level limit on {\rm Re}$λ_1$ achievable at ILC with center-of-mass energy of 500 GeV or 800 GeV with realistic initial beam polarization and integrated luminosity is of the order of few times of $10^{-2}$ when the helicity of $Z$ is used and $10^{-3}$ when the helicity of $γ$ is used. The resulting corrections at quadratic order to the cross section and its influence on these limits are also evaluated and are shown to be small. The benefits of such polarization programmes at the ILC are compared and contrasted for the process at hand. We also discuss possible methods by which one can isolate events with a definite helicity for one of the final-state particles.

Model independent bounds on the modulus of the pion form factor on the unitarity cut below the $ωπ$ threshold

We calculate upper and lower bounds on the modulus of the pion electro magnetic form factor on the unitarity cut below the $ωπ$ inelastic threshold, using as input the phase in the elastic region known via the Fermi-Watson theorem from the $ππ$ $P$-wave phase shift, and a suitably weighted integral of the modulus squared above the inelastic threshold. The normalization at $t=0$, the pion charge radius and experimental values at spacelike momenta are used as additional input information. The bounds are model independent, in the sense that they do not rely on specific parametrizations and do not require assumptions on the phase of the form factor above the inelastic threshold. The results provide nontrivial consistencychecks on the recent experimental data on the modulus available below the $ωπ$ threshold from $e^+ e^-$ annihilation and $τ$-decay experiments. In particular, at low energies the calculated bounds offer a more precise description of the modulus than the experimental data.

Probing strongly interacting W's at the ILC with polarized beams

We study the possibility of fingerprinting a strongly interacting $W$ boson sector which is consistent with present day LHC searches at the ILC with longitudinal as well as transversely polarized electron and positron beams. We account for the final state interaction using a suitable Omnès formalism in terms of a plausible resonance description, and carry out thorough analyses of cross sections, asymmetries and angular distributions of the $W's$. We carry out a comparison with other extensions of the Standard Model, where heavy additional $Z'$ bosons arise naturally. We also consider the effect of the strong final state interaction on a correlation that depends on $(ϕ_--ϕ_+)$, where the $ϕ_\mp$ are the azimuthal angles of decay leptons, and find that it is a useful discriminant.

Spacelike pion form factor from analytic continuation and the onset of perturbative QCD

The factorization theorem for exclusive processes in perturbative QCD predicts the behavior of the pion electromagnetic form factor $F(t)$ at asymptotic spacelike momenta $t(=-Q^2)<0$. We address the question of the onset energy using a suitable mathematical framework of analytic continuation, which uses as input the phase of the form factor below the first inelastic threshold, known with great precision through the Fermi-Watson theorem from $ππ$ elastic scattering, and the modulus measured from threshold up to 3 GeV by the BaBar Collaboration. The method leads to almost model-independent upper and lower bounds on the spacelike form factor. Further inclusion of the value of the charge radius and the experimental value at $-2.45 \gev^2$ measured at JLab considerably increases the strength of the bounds in the region $ Q^2 \lesssim 10 \gev^2$, excluding the onset of the asymptotic perturbative QCD regime for $Q^2< 7\gev^2$. We also compare the bounds with available experimental data and with several theoretical models proposed for the low and intermediate spacelike region.

The $Dπ$ form factors from analyticity and unitarity

We study the shape parameters of the $Dπ$ scalar and vector form factors using as input dispersion relations and unitarity for the moments of suitable heavy-light correlators evaluated with Operator Product Expansions, including $O(α_s^2)$ terms in perturbative QCD. For the scalar form factor, a low energy theorem and phase information on the unitarity cut are implemented to further constrain the shape parameters. We finally determine points on the real axis and isolate regions in the complex energy plane where zeros of the form factors are excluded.

The $Kπ$ form factors from Analyticity and Unitarity

Analyticity and unitarity techniques are employed to obtain bounds on the shape parameters of the scalar and vector form factors of semileptonic $K_{l3}$ decays. For this purpose we use vector and scalar correlators evaluated in pQCD, a low energy theorem for scalar form factor, lattice results for the ratio of kaon and pion decay constants, chiral perturbation theory calculations for the scalar form factor at the Callan-Treiman point and experimental information on the phase and modulus of $Kπ$ form factors up to an energy $\tin=1 {\rm GeV}^2$. The 27-plet contributions to the CP-conserving $K\rightarrow πl^+l^-$ decays

We revisit the the rare kaon decays $K\to πl^+l^-$ which are of interest specially due to the recent measurements of the charged kaon decay spectra. We compute the contribution of the 27-plet to the decay amplitudes in one loop SU(3) Chiral Perturbation Theory. We estimate the resulting impact to be $\sim 10%$ to the branching ratios of the charged kaon decays, and also noticeably influence the shape of the spectra. With current values of the constants $G_8$ associated with the octet and $G_{27}$ associated with the 27-plet, the contribution of the latter pushes the spectrum in the correct direction for the charged lepton spectra. We also discuss the impact for the neutral decay rates and spectra.

Implications of the recent high statistics determination of the pion electromagnetic form factor in the timelike region

The recently evaluated two-pion contribution to the muon g-2 and the phase of the pion electromagnetic form factor in the elastic region, known from ππscattering by Fermi-Watson theorem, are exploited by analytic techniques for finding correlations between the coefficients of the Taylor expansion at t=0 and the values of the form factor at several points in the spacelike region. We do not use specific parametrizations and the results are fully independent of the unknown phase in the inelastic region. Using for instance, from recent determinations, <r^2_π> = (0.435 \pm 0.005) fm^2 and F(-1.6 GeV^2)=0.243^{+0.022}_{-0.014}, we obtain the allowed ranges 3.75 GeV^{-4}\lesssim c \lesssim 3.98 GeV^{-4} and 9.91 GeV^{-6}\lesssim d \lesssim 10.46 GeV^{-6} for the curvature and the next Taylor coefficient, with a strong correlation between them. We also predict a large region in the complex plane where the form factor can not have zeros.

Implications of unitarity and analyticity for the Dπform factors

We consider the vector and scalar form factors of the charm-changing current responsible for the semileptonic decay D\rightarrow πl ν. Using as input dispersion relations and unitarity for the moments of suitable heavy-light correlators evaluated with Operator Product Expansions, including O(α_s^2) terms in perturbative QCD, we constrain the shape parameters of the form factors and find exclusion regions for zeros on the real axis and in the complex plane. For the scalar form factor, a low energy theorem and phase information on the unitarity cut are also implemented to further constrain the shape parameters. We finally propose new analytic expressions for the $Dπ$ form factors, derive constraints on the relevant coefficients from unitarity and analyticity, and briefly discuss the usefulness of the new parametrizations for describing semileptonic data.

Signals of additional Z boson in e+e-\to W+W^- at the ILC with polarized beams

We consider the possibility of fingerprinting the presence of heavy additional Z' bosons that arise naturally in extensions of the standard model such as E_6 models and left-right symmetric models, through their mixing with the standard model Z boson. By considering a class of observables including total cross sections, energy distributions and angular distributions of decay leptons we find significant deviation from the standard model predictions for these quantities with right-handed electrons and left-handed positrons at \sqrt{s}=800 GeV. The deviations being less pronounced at smaller centre of mass energies as the models are already tightly constrained. Our work suggests that the ILC should have a strong beam polarization physics program particularly with these configurations. On the other hand, a forward backward asymmetry and lepton fraction in the backward direction are more sensitive to new physics with realistic polarization due to interesting interplay with the neutrino t- channel diagram. This process complements the study of fermion pair production processes that have been considered for discrimination between these models.

Improving the phenomenology of K_{l3} form factors with analyticity and unitarity

The shape of the vector and scalar K_{l3} form factors is investigated by exploiting analyticity and unitarity in a model-independent formalism. The method uses as input dispersion relations for certain correlators computed in perturbative QCD in the deep Euclidean region, soft-meson theorems, and experimental information on the phase and modulus of the form factors along the elastic part of the unitarity cut. We derive constraints on the coefficients of the parameterizations valid in the semileptonic range and on the truncation error. The method also predicts low-energy domains in the complex $t$-plane where zeros of the form factors are excluded. The results are useful for K_{l3} data analyses and provide theoretical underpinning for recent phenomenological dispersive representations for the form factors.

Stringent constraints on the scalar K pi form factor from analyticity, unitarity and low-energy theorems

We investigate the scalar K pi form factor at low energies by the method of unitarity bounds adapted so as to include information on the phase and modulus along the elastic region of the unitarity cut. Using at input the values of the form factor at t=0 and the Callan-Treiman point, we obtain stringent constraints on the slope and curvature parameters of the Taylor expansion at the origin. Also, we predict a quite narrow range for the higher order ChPT corrections at the second Callan-Treiman point.

Theory of unitarity bounds and low energy form factors

We present a general formalism for deriving bounds on the shape parameters of the weak and electromagnetic form factors using as input correlators calculated from perturbative QCD, and exploiting analyticity and unitarity. The values resulting from the symmetries of QCD at low energies or from lattice calculations at special points inside the analyticity domain can beincluded in an exact way. We write down the general solution of the corresponding Meiman problem for an arbitrary number of interior constraints and the integral equations that allow one to include the phase of the form factor along a part of the unitarity cut. A formalism that includes the phase and some information on the modulus along a part of the cut is also given. For illustration we present constraints on the slope and curvature of the K_l3 scalar form factor and discuss our findings in some detail. The techniques are useful for checking the consistency of various inputs and for controlling the parameterizations of the form factors entering precision predictions in flavor physics.

Top-spin analysis of new scalar and tensor interactions in e^+ e^- collisions with beam polarization

We utilize top polarization in the process e+ e-\rightarrow t\bar{t} at the ILC with transverse beam polarization to probe interactions of the scalar and tensor type beyond the standard model and to disentangle their individual contributions. 90% confidence level limits on the interactions with realistic integrated luminosity are presented and are found to improve by an order of magnitude compared to the case when the spin of the top quark is not measured. Sensitivities of the order of a few times 10^{-3} TeV^{-2} for real and imaginary parts of both scalar and tensor couplings at \sqrt{s}=500 and 800 GeV with an integrated luminosity of 500 fb^{-1} and completely polarized beams is shown to be possible. A powerful model-independent framework for inclusive measurements is employed to describe the spin-momentum correlations and their C, P and T properties is presented in a technical appendix.

Comment on evidence for new interference phenomena in the decay D+ -> K- pi+ mu+ nu

The experimental determination of low energy pi K scattering phase shifts would assist in determining scattering lengths as well as low energy constants of chiral perturbation theory for which sum rules have been constructed. The FOCUS collaboration has presented evidence for interference pheomena from their analysis of D_l4 decays based on decay amplitudes suitable for a cascade decay D -> K* -> K pi. We point out that if the well-known full five body kinematics are taken into account, pi K scattering phases may be extracted. We also point out that other distributions considered in the context of K_l4 decays can be applied to charm meson decays to provide constraints on violation of |Delta I|=1/2 rule and T-violation.

The role of polarized positrons and electrons in revealing fundamental interactions at the Linear Collider

The proposed International Linear Collider (ILC) is well-suited for discovering physics beyond the Standard Model and for precisely unraveling the structure of the underlying physics. The physics return can be maximized by the use of polarized beams. This report shows the paramount role of polarized beams and summarizes the benefits obtained from polarizing the positron beam, as well as the electron beam. The physics case for this option is illustrated explicitly by analyzing reference reactions in different physics scenarios. The results show that positron polarization, combined with the clean experimental environment provided by the linear collider, allows to improve strongly the potential of searches for new particles and the identification of their dynamics, which opens the road to resolve shortcomings of the Standard Model. The report also presents an overview of possible designs for polarizing both beams at the ILC, as well as for measuring their polarization.

Four-point correlator constraints on electromagnetic chiral parameters and resonance effective Lagrangians

We pursue the analysis of a set of generalized DGMLY sum rules for the electromagnetic chiral parameters at order $e^2p^2$ and discuss implications for effective Lagrangians with resonances. We exploit a formalism in which charge spurions are introduced and treated as sources. We show that no inconsistency arises from anomalies up to quadratic order in the spurions. We focus on the sum rules associated with QCD 4-point correlators which were not analyzed in detail before. Convergence properties of the sum rules are deduced from a general analysis of the form of the counterterms in the presence of electromagnetic spurions. Following the approach in which vector and axial-vector resonances are described with antisymmetric tensor fields and have a chiral order, we show that the convergence constraints are violated at chiral order four and can be satisfied by introducing a set of terms of order six. The relevant couplings get completely and uniquely determined from a set of generalized Weinberg sum-rule relations. An update on the corrections to Dashen's low-energy theorem is given.

Transverse beam polarization and CP violation in e+ e- -> gamma Z with contact interactions

We consider the most general gauge-invariant, chirality-conserving contact interactions in the process e +e- -> gamma Z, of the type proposed Abraham and Lampe, in order to explore the possibility of CP violation at future linear colliders in the presence of polarized beams. We hereby extend recent work on CP violation due to anomalous triple-gauge boson vertices. We isolate combinations of couplings which are genuinely CP violating, pointing out which of these can only be studied with the use of transverse polarization. We place constraints on these couplings that could arise from suitably defined CP-odd asymmetries, considering realistic polarization (either longitudinal or transverse) of 80% and 60% for the electron and positron beams respectively, and with an integrated luminosity \int dt L of 500 fb^{-1} at a centre of mass energy of \sqrt{s}=500 GeV.

Squark and slepton masses as probes of supersymmetric SO(10) unification

We carry out an analysis of the non-universal supersymmetry breaking scalar masses arising in SO(10) supersymmetric unification. By considering patterns of squark and slepton masses, we derive a set of sum rules for the sfermion masses which are independent of the manner in which SO(10) breaks to the Standard Model gauge group via its SU(5) subgroups. The phenomenology arising from such non-universality is unaffected by the symmetry breaking pattern, so long as the breaking occurs via any of the SU(5) subgroups of the SO(10) group.

CP-Violation in the Production of Tau-Leptons at TESLA with Beam Polarization

We study the prospects of discovering CP-violation in the production of tau-leptons in the reaction {e+e- --> tau+tau- at TESLA, an e+e- linear collider with center-of-mass energies of 500 or even 800 GeV. Non-vanishing expectation values of certain correlations between the momenta of the decay products of the two tau leptons would signalthe presence of CP-violation beyond the standard model. We study how longitudinal beam polarization of the electron and positron beams will enhance these correlations. We find that T-odd and T-even vector correlations are well suited for the measurements of the real and imaginary parts of the electric dipole form factors. We expect measurements of the real part with a precision of roughly 10^-20 ecm and of the imaginary part of 10^-17 ecm. This compares well with the size of the expected effects in many extensions of the standard model.

Electromagnetic corrections in the anomaly sector

Chiral perturbation theory in the anomaly sector for $N_f=2$ is extended to include dynamical photons, thereby allowing a complete treatment of isospin breaking. A minimal set of independent chiral lagrangian terms is determined and the divergence structure is worked out. There are contributions from irreducible and also from reducible one-loop graphs, a feature of ChPT at order larger than four. The generating functional is non-anomalous at order $e^2p^4$, but not necessarily at higher order in $e^2$. Practical applications to $γπ\toππ$ and to the $π^0\to2γ$ amplitudes are considered. In the latter case, a complete discussion of the corrections beyond current algebra is presented including quark mass as well as electromagnetic effects.

Infrared Fixed Point Structure in Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Baryon and Lepton Number Violation

We study in detail the renomalization group evolution of Yukawa couplings and soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with baryon and lepton number violation. We obtain the exact solutions of these equations in a closed form, and then depict the infrared fixed point structure of the third generation Yukawa couplings and the highest generation baryon and lepton number violating couplings. Approximate analytical solutions for these Yukawa couplings and baryon and lepton number violating couplings, and the soft supersymmetry breaking couplings are obtained in terms of their initial values at the unification scale. We then numerically study the infrared fixed surfaces of the model, and illustrate the approach to the fixed points.

Renormalization Group Evolution and Infra-red Fixed Points in Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Baryon and Lepton Number Violation

We study the renormalization group evolution and infra-red stable fixed points of the Yukawa couplings and the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with baryon and lepton number (and R-parity) violation involving the heaviest generations. We show analytically that in the Yukawa sector there is only one infra-red stable fixed point. This corresponds to non-trivial fixed point for the top-, bottom-quark Yukawa couplings and the $B$ violating coupling $λ_{233}''$, and a trivial one for the $τ$-Yukawa coupling. All other possible fixed points are either unphysical or unstable in the infra-red region. We then carry out an analysis of the renormalization group equations for the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings, and determine the corresponding fixed points for these couplings. We also study the quasi-fixed point behaviour, both algebraically and with numerical solutions of the evolution equations, of the third generation Yukawa couplings and the baryon number violating coupling, and those of the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings. From the analysis of the fixed point behaviour, we obtain upper and lower bounds on the baryon number violating coupling $λ_{233}''$, as well as on the supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings.

Scattering Lengths and Medium and High Energy $ππ$ Scattering

Medium and high energy absorptive parts contribute to dispersive expressions for D- wave scattering lengths, $a^0_2$ and $a^2_2$. For the model employed by Basdevant, Frogatt and Peterson we find the D- wave driving term contributions to the D- wave scattering lengths are $1.8\cdot 10^{-4}$ to $a^0_2$ and $0.4\cdot 10^{-4}$ to $a^2_2$, roughly $10\%$ and $30\%$ of their respective central experimental values. Inequivalent sets of sum rules are used as a compelling test of the consistency of the model for which crossing symmetry is not guaranteed. Results for the F- wave scattering length $a^1_3$ are presented, completing the recent Roy equation analysis of \pipi scattering in the range for $a^0_0$ favored by standard chiral perturbation theory.

The Non-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model at Large $\tanβ$

We present a comprehensive analysis of the Non-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM) for large values of $\tanβ$, the ratio of the vacuum expectation values of the two Higgs doublets, which arise when we impose the constraint of the unification of Yukawa couplings in the model. In this limit we show that the vacuum expectation value of the singlet is forced to be large, of the order of $10$ TeV. The singlet decouples from the lightest CP-even neutral Higgs boson and the neutralinos. We compare our results with the corresponding particle spectrum of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model in the same limit. With the exception of the lightest Higgs boson, the particle spectrum in the model turns out to be heavy. The Higgs boson mass, after the inclusion of radiative corrections, is found to be in the neighbourhood of $\sim 130$ GeV.

Radiative Electroweak Breaking with Pseudogoldstone Higgs Doublets

We consider a realistic example of supersymmetric grand unification based on $SU(3)_c \times SU(3)_L \times SU(3)_R$ in which the electroweak (EW) higgs doublets are `light' as a consequence of the `pseudogoldstone' mechanism. We discuss radiative EW breaking in this model, exploring in particular the `small' (order unity) and `large' $(\approx m_t/m_b)$ $\tan β$ regions by studying the variations of $r (\equiv \sqrt{μ^2_{1,2}/μ^2_3})$, where $μ^2_{1,2,3}$ are the well known MSSM parameters evaluated at the GUT scale. For $r$ sufficiently close to unity the quantity $\tan β$ can be of order unity, but the converse is not always true.

Effect of longitudinal electron polarization in the measurement of the $τ$ weak dipole moment in $e^+e^-$ collisions

We show that certain CP-odd momentum correlations in the production and subsequent decay of tau pairs in $e^+e^-$ collisions get enhanced when the electron beam is longitudinally polarized. Analytic expressions for these correlations are obtained when $τ^+τ^-$ have a ``weak" dipole form factor (WDFF) coupling to $Z$ in the case of two-body decay modes of the $τ$. Expressions of the variance of these correlations due to the standard model interactions are also presented. For $e^+e^-$ collisions at the $Z$ peak, a sensitivity of about $10^{-17} e$ cm for the real part of the $τ$ WDFF and $3\times 10^{-17} e$ cm for the imaginary part of the $τ$ WDFF can be reached using $π$ and $ρ$ channels (which are the most sensitive channels) in $τ$ decay, with $10^6\, Z$'s likely to be available at the SLC at Stanford with $e^-$ polarization of 62\%-75\%.

Supersymmetric Models With Tan(beta) Close to Unity

Within the framework of supersymmetric grand unification, estimates of the $b$ quark mass based on the asymptotic relation $m_b \simeq m_τ$ single out the region with $\tanβ$ close to unity, particularly if $m_t(m_t) \stackrel{_<}{_\sim} 170\ GeV$. We explore the radiative breaking of the electroweak symmetry and the associated sparticle and higgs spectroscopy in models with $1 < \tanβ\stackrel{_<}{_\sim} 1.6$. The lightest scalar higgs is expected to have a mass below $100\ GeV$, while the remaining four higgs masses exceed $300\ GeV$. The lower bounds on some of the sparticle masses are within the range of LEP 200.

Weak dipole moment of $τ$ in $e^+e^-$ collisions with longitudinally polarized electrons

It is pointed out that certain CP-odd momentum correlations in the production and subsequent decay of tau pairs in $e^+e^-$ collisions get enhanced when the $e^-$ is longitudinally polarized. Analytic expressions for these correlations are obtained for the single-pion decay mode of $τ$ when $τ^+τ^-$ have a ``weak" dipole form factor (WDFF) coupling to $Z$ . Zeroing In On the Top Quark, LSP and Scalar Higgs Masses

We estimate the top quark, lightest sparticle (LSP) and scalar higgs masses within a supersymmetric grand unified framework in which $\tanβ\simeq m_t/m_b$ and the electroweak symmetry is radiatively broken. The requirement that the calculated $b$ quark mass lie close to its measured value, together with the cosmological constraint $Ω_{LSP} \approx 1$, fixes the top quark mass to be $m_t(m_t) \approx 170 \pm 15\ GeV$. The LSP (of bino purity $\stackrel{_>}{_\sim} 98\%)$ has mass $\sim 200 - 350\ GeV$. In the scalar higgs sector the CP-odd scalar mass $m_A \stackrel{_<}{_\sim} 220\ GeV$. With $m_A \stackrel{_>}{_\sim} M_Z$, as suggested by the decay $b \rightarrow sγ$, we find $M_Z \stackrel{_<}{_\sim} m_{h^0} (m_{H^0}) \stackrel{_<}{_\sim} 140 (220)\ GeV$ and $120\ GeV \stackrel{_<}{_\sim} m_{H^\pm} \stackrel{_<}{_\sim} 240\ GeV$.
