Optimal control of SPDEs driven by time-space Brownian motion

In this paper we study a Pontryagin type stochastic maximum principle for the optimal control of a system, where the state dynamics satisfy a stochastic partial differential equation (SPDE) driven by a two-parameter (time-space) Brownian motion (also called Brownian sheet). We first discuss some properties of a Brownian sheet driven linear SPDE which models the growth of an ecosystem. Further, applying time-space white noise calculus we derive sufficient conditions and necessary conditions of optimality of the control. Finally, we illustrate our results by solving a linear quadratic control problem and an optimal harvesting problem in the plane. We also study possible applications to machine learning.

Thiele's Differential Equation Based on Markov Jump Processes with Non-countable State Space

In modern life insurance, Markov processes in continuous time on a finite or at least countable state space have been over the years an important tool for the modelling of the states of an insured. Motivated by applications in disability insurance, we propose in this paper a model for insurance states based on Markov jump processes with more general state spaces. We use this model to derive a new type of Thiele's differential equation which e.g. allows for a consistent calculation of reserves in disability insurance based on two-parameter continuous time rehabilitation rates.

Construction of Malliavin differentiable strong solutions of SDEs under an integrability condition on the drift without the Yamada-Watanabe principle

In this paper we aim at employing a compactness criterion of Da Prato, Malliavin, Nualart for square integrable Brownian functionals to construct unique strong solutions of SDE's under an integrability condition on the drift coefficient. The obtained solutions turn out to be Malliavin differentiable and are used to derive a Bismut-Elworthy-Li formula for solutions of the Kolmogorov equation.

On the Construction and Malliavin Differentiability of Levy Noise Driven SDEs with Singular Coefficients

In this paper we introduce a new technique to construct unique strong solutions of SDEs with singular coefficients driven by certain Levy processes. Our method which is based on Malliavin calculus does not rely on a pathwise uniqueness argument. Furthermore, the approach, which provides a direct construction principle, grants the additional insight that the obtained solutions are Malliavin differentiable.

Stochastic partial differential equations driven by Levy space-time white noise

In this paper we develop a white noise framework for the study of stochastic partial differential equations driven by a d-parameter (pure jump) Levy white noise. As an example we use this theory to solve the stochastic Poisson equation with respect to Levy white noise for any dimension d. The solution is a stochastic distribution process given explicitly. We also show that if d\leq 3, then this solution can be represented as a classical random field in L2(μ), where μis the probability law of the Levy process. The starting point of our theory is a chaos expansion in terms of generalized Charlier polynomials. Based on this expansion we define Kondratiev spaces and the Levy Hermite transform.
