Baryon stopping in the Color Glass Condensate formalism: A phenomenological study

The net-baryon production at forward rapidities is investigated considering the Color Glass Condensate formalism. We assume that at large energies the coherence of the projectile quarks is lost and that the leading baryon production mechanism changes from recombination to independent fragmentation. The phenomenological implications for net-baryon production in $pp/pA/AA$ collisions are analysed and predictions for LHC energies are presented.

Renormalization group invariance in pionless effective field theory for the NN system

We consider the NN interaction in pionless effective field theory (EFT) up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) and use a recursive subtractive renormalization scheme to describe NN scattering in the 1S0 channel. We fix the strengths of the contact interactions at a reference scale, chosen to be the one that provides the best fit for the phase-shifts, and then slide the renormalization scale by evolving the driving terms of the subtracted Lippmann-Schwinger equation through a non-relativistic Callan-Symanzik equation. The results show that such a systematic renormalization scheme with multiple subtractions is fully renormalization group invariant.

Similarity renormalization group evolution of $NN$ interactions within a subtractive renormalization scheme

We apply the similarity renormalization group (SRG) approach to evolve a nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) interaction in leading-order (LO) chiral effective field theory (ChEFT), renormalized within the framework of the subtracted kernel method (SKM). We derive a fixed-point interaction and show the renormalization group (RG) invariance in the SKM approach. We also compare the evolution of $NN$ potentials with the subtraction scale through a SKM RG equation in the form of a non-relativistic Callan-Symanzik (NRCS) equation and the evolution with the similarity cutoff through the SRG transformation.

Gluon saturation and the Froissart bound: a simple approach

At very high energies we expect that the hadronic cross sections satisfy the Froissart bound, which is a well-established property of the strong interactions. In this energy regime we also expect the formation of the Color Glass Condensate, characterized by gluon saturation and a typical momentum scale: the saturation scale $Q_s$. In this paper we show that if a saturation window exists between the nonperturbative and perturbative regimes of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), the total cross sections satisfy the Froissart bound. Furthermore, we show that our approach allows us to describe the high energy experimental data on $pp/p\bar{p}$ total cross sections.

Asymmetries in Heavy Meson Production from Light Quark Fragmentation

We discuss the possibility of the asymmetry in $D^-/D^+$ production, from $π^-$ beams, being a direct consequence of the properties of the light quark fragmentation function into heavy mesons. The main features of the asymmetry, as a function of $x_F$, are easily described. An integrated sum-rule for the $D^-, D^+$ difference, is presented. Predictions for the asymmetry, in $B$ meson production, are given.

Leading Charm Production in the Interacting Gluon Model

We discuss leading charm production in connection with energy deposition in the central rapidity region. Special attention is given to the correlation between production in central and fragmentation regions. If the fraction of the reaction energy released in the central region increases the asymmetry in the $x_F$ distributions of charmed mesons will become smaller. We illustrate this quantitatively with simple calculations performed using the Interacting Gluon Model. Leading beauty production is also considered.
