(2+1)-dimensional f(R) gravity solutions via Hojman symmetry

In this paper, we use the Hojman symmetry approach to find new $(2+1)$-dimensional $f(R)$ gravity solutions, in comparison to Noether symmetry approach. In the special case of Hojman symmetry vector $X=R$, we recover $(2+1)$-dimensional BTZ black hole and generalized $(2+1)$-dimensional BTZ black hole solutions, obtained by Noether symmetry approach, and the interesting point is that the cosmological constant is appeared as the direct manifestation of Hojman symmetry.

Swampland conjectures in hybrid metric-Palatini gravity

In this paper, we study a hybrid combination of Einstein-Hilbert action with curvature scalar $R$, and a function $f(\mathcal{R})$ in Palatini gravity within the context of inflationary scenario, from the Swampland conjecture point of view. This hybrid model has been paid attention in recent cosmological studies, and its applications have been widely studied in the literature. In this regard, using the Swampland conjecture (using ($ C_ {1} $) as the first component of dS swampland conjecture, which is obtained from the first derivative of the potential upon the potential and ($ C_ {2} $) as the second component which is acquired from the second derivative of the potential upon the potential), we investigate the cosmological implications of the present gravity theory, with a suitable potential, in the framework of inflationary scenario to obtain cosmological quantities such as slow-roll parameter, scalar spectral index $(n_{s})$, tensor-to-scalar ratio ($r_{s}$), and then compare them with the cosmological observations. Moreover, we compare the compatibility or incompatibility of the model with observable data, such as Planck, by applying Swampland conjecture to $r_{s}-n_{s}$ , $C_{1,2}-n_{s}$ and $C_{1,2}-r_{s}$ plots.

Classical and quantum cosmology of minimal massive bigravity

In a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) space-time background we study the classical cosmological models in the context of recently proposed theory of nonlinear minimal massive bigravity. We show that in the presence of perfect fluid the classical field equations acquire contribution from the massive graviton as a cosmological term which is positive or negative depending on the dynamical competition between two scale factors of bigravity metrics. We obtain the classical field equations for flat and open universes in the ordinary and Schutz representation of perfect fluid. Focusing on the Schutz representation for flat universe, we find classical solutions exhibiting singularities at early universe with vacuum equation of state. Then, in the Schutz representation, we study the quantum cosmology for flat universe and derive the Schrodinger-Wheeler-DeWitt equation. We find its exact and wave packet solutions and discuss on their properties to show that the initial singularity in the classical solutions can be avoided by quantum cosmology. Similar to the study of Hartle-Hawking no-boundary proposal in the quantum cosmology of de Rham, Gabadadze and Tolley (dRGT) massive gravity, it turns out that the mass of graviton predicted by quantum cosmology of the minimal massive bigravity is large at early universe. This is in agreement with the fact that at early universe the cosmological constant should be large.

Dark matter as the Bose-Einstein condensation in loop quantum cosmology

We consider the FLRW universe in a loop quantum cosmological model filled with the radiation, baryonic matter (with negligible pressure), dark energy and dark matter. The dark matter sector is supposed to be of Bose-Einstein condensate type. The Bose-Einstein condensation process in a cosmological context by supposing it as an approximate first order phase transition, has been already studied in the literature. Here, we study the evolution of the physical quantities related to the early universe description such as the energy density, temperature and scale factor of the universe, before, during and after the condensation process. We also consider in detail the evolution era of the universe in a mixed normal-condensate dark matter phase. The behavior and time evolution of the condensate dark matter fraction is also analyzed.

Einstein static universe on the brane supported by extended Chaplygin gas

We study the cosmological models in which an extended Chaplygin gas universe is merged with the braneworld scenario. In particular, we examine the realization of Einstein static universe on the brane embedded in a non-constant curvature bulk space and perform a detailed perturbation analysis. We extract the stability conditions and find their impacts on the geometric equation of state parameter and the spatial curvature of the universe.

Emergent universe in Horava-Lifshitz-like F(R) gravity

We investigate the Einstein static universe (ESU) and the emergent universe scenario in the framework of Hořava-Lifshitz-like $F(R)$ gravity. We first perform a dynamical analysis in the phase space, and amongst others we show that a spatially open universe filled with matter satisfying the strong energy condition can exhibit a stable static phase. Additionally, we examine the behavior of the scenario under scalar perturbations and extract the conditions under which it is free of perturbative instabilities, showing that the obtained background ESU solutions are free of such instabilities. However, in order for the Einstein static universe to give rise to the emergent universe scenario we need to have an exotic matter sector that can lead the universe to depart from the stable static state and enter into its usual expanding thermal history.

Emergent Universe in the Braneworld Scenario

According to Padmanabhan's proposal, the difference between the surface degrees of freedom and the bulk degrees of freedom in a region of space may result in the acceleration of Universe expansion through the relation $ΔV/Δt = N_{\rm sur}-N_{\rm bulk}$ where $N_{\rm bulk}$ and $N_{\rm sur}$ are referred to the degrees of freedom related to the matter and energy content inside the bulk and surface area, respectively \cite{Pad1}. In this paper, we study the dynamical effect of the extrinsic geometrical embedding of an arbitrary four dimensional brane in a higher dimensional bulk space and investigate the corresponding degrees of freedom. Considering the modification of Friedmann equations arising from a general braneworld scenario, we obtain a correction term in Padmanabhan's relation, denoting the number of degrees of freedom related to the extrinsic geometry of the brane embedded in higher dimensional spacetime as $ΔV /Δt=N_{\rm sur}-N_{\rm bulk}-N_{\rm extr}$ where $N_{\rm extr}$ is referred to the degree of freedom related to the extrinsic geometry of the brane while $N_{\rm sur}$ and $N_{\rm bulk}$ are as well as before. Finally, we study the validity of the first and second laws of thermodynamics for this general braneworld scenario in the state of thermal equilibrium and in the presence of confined matter fields to the brane with the induced geometric matter fields.

Inflation via logarithmic entropy-corrected holographic dark energy model

We study the inflation via logarithmic entropy-corrected holographic dark energy LECHDE model with future event horizon, particle horizon and Hubble horizon cut-offs, and compare the results with those of obtained in the study of inflation by holographic dark energy HDE model. In comparison, the spectrum of primordial scalar power spectrum in the LECHDE model becomes redder than the spectrum in HDE model. Moreover, the consistency with the observational data in LECHDE model of inflation, constrains the reheating temperature and Hubble parameter by one parameter of holographic dark energy and two new parameters of logarithmic corrections.

Multiply-warped product metrics and reduction of Einstein equations

It is shown that for every multidimensional metric in the multiply warped product form $\bar{M} = K\times_{f_1} M_1\times_{f_2}M_2$ with warp functions $f_1$, $f_2$, associated to the submanifolds $M_1$, $M_2$ of dimensions $n_1$, $n_2$ respectively, one can find the corresponding Einstein equations $\bar{G}_{AB}=-\barΛ\bar{g}_{AB}$, with cosmological constant $\barΛ$, which are reducible to the Einstein equations $G_{αβ} = -Λ_1 g_{αβ}$ and $G_{ij} =-Λ_2 h_{ij}$ on the submanifolds $M_1$, $M_2$, with cosmological constants ${Λ_1}$ and ${Λ_2}$, respectively, where $\barΛ$, ${Λ_1}$ and ${Λ_2}$ are functions of ${f_1}$, ${f_2}$ and $n_1$, $n_2$.

Non-minimal kinetic coupled gravity: inflation on the Warped DGP brane

We consider the non-minimally kinetic coupled version of DGP brane model, where the kinetic term of the scalar field is coupled to the metric and Einstein tensor on the brane by a coupling constant $ζ$. We obtain the corresponding field equations, using the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric and the perfect fluid, and study the inflationary scenario to confront the numerical analysis of six typical scalar field potentials with the current observational results. We find that among the suggested potentials and coupling constants, subject to the e-folding $N=60$, the potentials $V(ϕ)=σϕ$, $V(ϕ)=σϕ^2$ and $V(ϕ)=σϕ^3$ provide the best fits with both Planck+WP+highL data and Planck+WP+highL+BICEP2 data.

String gravitational equations with Hermitian structure

We consider a string model at one-loop related to a $σ$-model whose antisymmetric tensor field is constructed as complex structure on the background manifold, specially on a manifold $R\times N$ where $N$ is a complex manifold. As an example, we consider a homogeneous anisotropic $(1+4)$-dimensional $σ$-model where space part of the background is a $4$-dimensional complex manifold. By solving the related one-loop $β$-functions we obtain a static solution so that by reduction of this solution to $(1+3)$-dimension we obtain a static solution of Einstein equation where the matter sector is effectively interpreted as an inhomogeneous, anisotropic and barotropic matter satisfying all the energy conditions. Finally, the $T$-dual background of the solution is investigated and it is shown that the duality transformation and reduction processes commute with each other.

Cosmology and stability in scalar tensor bigravity with non-minimal kinetic coupling gravity

We generalize the scalar tensor bigravity models to the non-minimal kinetic coupling scalar tensor bigravity models with two scalar fields whose kinetic terms are non-minimally coupled to two Einstein tensors constructed by two metrics. We show that a broad class of expanding universes can be explained by some solutions of this model. Then, we study the stability issue of the solutions by means of imposing homogeneous perturbation on the equations of motion and extract the stable solutions.

Cosmology with non-minimal coupled gravity: inflation and perturbation analysis

We study a scalar-tensor cosmological model where the Einstein tensor is non-minimally coupled to the free scalar field dynamics. Using FRW metric, we investigate the behavior of scale factor for vacuum, matter and dark energy dominated eras. Especially, we focus on the inflationary behavior at early universe. Moreover, we study the perturbation analysis of this model in order to confront the inflation under consideration with the observational results.

Einstein static Universe in non-minimal kinetic coupled gravity

We study the stability of Einstein static Universe, with FLRW metric, by considering linear homogeneous perturbations in the kinetic coupled gravity. By taking linear homogeneous perturbations, we find that the stability of Einstein static Universe, in the kinetic coupled gravity with quadratic scalar field potential, for closed ($K=1$) isotropic and homogeneous FLRW Universe depends on the coupling parameters $κ$ and $\varepsilon$. Specifically, for $κ=L_P^2$ and $\varepsilon=1$ we find that the stability condition imposes the inequality $a_0>\sqrt{3}L_P$ on the initial size $a_0$ of the closed Einstein static Universe before the inflation. Such inequality asserts that the initial size of the Einstein static Universe must be greater than the Planck length $L_P$, in consistency with the quantum gravity and quantum cosmology requirements. In this way, we have determined the non-minimal coupling parameter $κ$ in the context of Einstein static Universe. Such a very small parameter is favored in the inflationary models constructed in the kinetic coupled gravity. We have also studied the stability against the vector and tensor perturbations and discussed on the acceptable values of the equation of state parameter.

Geodesic Deviation Equation in $f(T)$ gravity

In this work, we show that it is possible to study the notion of geodesic deviation equation in $f(T)$ gravity, in spite of the fact that in teleparallel gravity there is no notion of geodesics, and the torsion is responsible for the appearance of gravitational interaction. In this regard, we obtain the GR equivalent equations for $f(T)$ gravity which are in the modified gravity form such as $f(R)$ gravity. Then, we obtain the GDE within the context of this modified gravity. In this way, the obtained geodesic deviation equation will correspond to the $f(T)$ gravity. Eventually, we extend the calculations to obtain the modification of Matting relation.

Gravity and induced matter on Nearly Kahler Manifolds

We show that the conservation of energy-momentum tensor of a gravitational model with Einstein-Hilbert like action on a nearly Kahler manifold with the scalar curvature of a curvature-like tensor, is consistent with the nearly Kahler properties. In this way, the nearly Kahler structure is automatically manifested in the action as a induced matter field. As an example of nearly Kahler manifold, we consider the group manifold of R x II x S3 x S3 on which we identify a nearly Kahler structure and solve the Einstein equations to interpret the model. It is shown that the nearly Kahler structure in this example is capable of alleviating the well known fine tuning problem of the cosmological constant. Moreover, this structure may be considered as a potential candidate for dark energy.

Induced Matter Brane Gravity and Einstein Static Universe

We investigate stability of the Einstein static universe against the scalar, vector and tensor perturbations in the context of induced matter brane gravity. It is shown that in the framework of this model, the Einstein static universe has a positive spatial curvature. In contrast to the classical general relativity, it is found that a stable Einstein static universe against the scalar perturbations does exist provided that the variation of time dependent geometrical equation of state parameter is proportional to the minus of the variation of the scale factor, $δω_{g}(t)=-Cδa(t)$. We obtain neutral stability against the vector perturbations, and the stability against the tensor perturbations is guaranteed due to the positivity of the spatial curvature of the Einstein static universe in induced matter brane gravity.

O'Hanlon actions by Noether symmetry

By using the conformal symmetry between Brans-Dicke action with $ω=-\frac{3}{2}$ and O'Hanlon action, we seek the O'Hanlon actions in Einstein frame respecting the Noether symmetry. Since the Noether symmetry is preserved under conformal transformations, the existence of Noether symmetry in the Brans-Dicke action asserts the Noether symmetry in O'Hanlon action in Einstein frame. Therefore, the potentials respecting Noether symmetry in Brans-Dicke action give the corresponding potentials respecting Noether symmetry in O'Hanlon action in Einstein frame.

On the Stability of Einstein Static Universe in Doubly General Relativity Scenario

By presenting a relation between average energy of the ensemble of probe photons and energy density of the Universe, in the context of {\it gravity's rainbow} or {\it doubly general relativity} scenario, we introduce a rainbow FRW Universe model. By analyzing the fixed points in flat FRW model modified by two well known rainbow functions, we find that the finite time singularity avoidance (i.e. Big-Bang) may still remain as a problem. Then, we follow the "Emergent Universe" scenario in which there is no beginning of time and consequently there is no Big-Bang singularity. Moreover, we study the impact of a high energy quantum gravity modifications related to the gravity's rainbow on the stability conditions of an "Einstein static Universe" (ESU). We find that independent of a particular rainbow function, the positive energy condition dictates a positive spatial curvature for the Universe. In fact, without raising a nonphysical energy condition in the quantum gravity regimes, we can address an agreement between gravity's rainbow scenario and basic assumption of modern version of "Emergent Universe". We show that in the absence and presence of an energy-dependent cosmological constant $Λ(ε)$, a stable Einstein static solution is available versus the homogeneous and linear scalar perturbations under the variety of obtained conditions. Also, we explore the stability of ESU against the vector and tensor perturbations.

Accelerating universe with time variation of $G$ and $Λ$

We study a gravitational model in which scale transformations play the key role in obtaining dynamical $G$ and $Λ$. We take a scale non-invariant gravitational action with a cosmological constant and a gravitational coupling constant. Then, by a scale transformation, through a dilaton field, we obtain a new action containing cosmological and gravitational coupling terms which are dynamically dependent on the dilaton field with Higgs type potential. The vacuum expectation value of this dilaton field, through spontaneous symmetry breaking on the basis of anthropic principle, determines the time variations of $G$ and $Λ$. The relevance of these time variations to the current acceleration of the universe, coincidence problem, Mach's cosmological coincidence and those problems of standard cosmology addressed by inflationary models, are discussed. The current acceleration of the universe is shown to be a result of phase transition from radiation toward matter dominated eras. No real coincidence problem between matter and vacuum energy densities exists in this model and this apparent coincidence together with Mach's cosmological coincidence are shown to be simple consequences of a new kind of scale factor dependence of the energy momentum density as $ρ\sim a^{-4}$. This model also provides the possibility for a super fast expansion of the scale factor at very early universe by introducing exotic type matter like cosmic strings.

Einstein Static Universe in Braneworld Scenario

The stability of Einstein static universe against homogeneous scalar perturbations in the context of braneworld scenario is investigated. The stability regions are obtained in terms of the constant geometric linear equation of state parameter $ω_{extr}=p_{extr}/ρ_{extr}$ and are studied for each evolutionary era of the universe. The results are discussed for the case of closed, open or flat universe in each era under the obtained restricting conditions. We also briefly investigate the stability against vector and tensor perturbations. Contrary to the classical general relativity, it is found that a stable Einstein static universe may exist in a braneworld theory of gravity against scalar, vector and tensor perturbations for some suitable values and ranges of the cosmological parameters.

Energy conditions in $f(R,G)$ gravity

Modified gravity is one of the most favorable candidates for explaining the current accelerating expansion of the Universe. In this regard, we study the viability of an alternative gravitational theory, namely $f(R,G)$, by imposing energy conditions. We consider two forms of $f(R,G)$, commonly discussed in the literature, which account for the stability of cosmological solutions. We construct the inequalities obtained by energy conditions and specifically apply the weak energy condition using the recent estimated values of the Hubble, deceleration, jerk and snap parameters to probe the viability of the above-mentioned forms of $f(R, G)$.

Energy-momentum tensors for non-commutative Abelian Proca field

We study two different possibilities of constructing the energy-momentum tensors for non-commutative Abelian Proca field, by using (i) general Noether theorem and (ii) coupling to a weak external gravitational field. Both energy-momentum tensors are not traceless due to the violation of Lorentz invariance in non-commutative spaces. In particular, we show that the obtained energy density of the latter case coincides exactly with that of obtained by Dirac quantization method.

In the framework of f(R) scalar-tensor cosmology, we use the Noether symmetry approach to find the cosmological models consistent with the Noether symmetry. We obtain the functions f(R) and H(a), or the corresponding differential equations, according to specific choices for the scalar field potential V(ϕ), the Brans-Dicke function ω(ϕ), some cosmological parameters, and the constants of motion.

Gauge inflation by kinetic coupled gravity

Recently, a new class of inflationary models, so called \emph{gauge-flation} or non-Abelian gauge field inflation has been introduced where the slow-roll inflation is driven by a non-Abelian gauge field $\textbf{A}$ with the field strength $\textbf{F}$. This class of models are based on a gauge field theory having $\textbf{F}^2$ and $\textbf{F}^4$ terms with a non-Abelian gauge group minimally coupled to gravity. Here, we present a new class of such inflationary models based on a gauge field theory having only $\textbf{F}^2$ term with non-Abelian gauge fields non-minimally coupled to gravity. The non-minimal coupling is set up by introducing the Einstein tensor besides the metric tensor within the $\textbf{F}^2$ term, which is called kinetic coupled gravity. A perturbation analysis is performed to confront the inflation under consideration with Planck and BICEP2 results.

Liquid-Droplet as a model for the rotation curve problem

The dynamics of large scale gravitational structures like galaxies, local groups and clusters is studied based on the so-called {\it Liquid-Droplet} model describing the saturation property of the nuclear force. Using the assumption that the gravitational force is also saturated over large scale structures, it is argued that the Newtonian gravitational potential may be replaced by an effective {\it Machian} gravitational potential. Application of this new potential at these large scale structures may give the rotation curves in good agreement with observations. Then, the virial theorem for this kind of gravitational interaction is developed and also the Tully-Fisher relation is obtained. A physical explanation is given for the so-called {\it constant} acceleration in the MOND as the {\it effective} gravitational strength of these structures. Finally, a brief argument is given for comparison with dark matter models.

New Schwarzschild-like solutions in f(T) gravity through Noether symmetries

Spherically symmetric solutions for f(T) gravity models are derived by the so called Noether Symmetry Approach. First, we present a full set of Noether symmetries for some minisuperspace models. Then, we compute analytical solutions and find that spherically symmetric solutions in f(T) gravity can be recast in terms of Schwarzschild-like solutions modified by a distortion function depending on a characteristic radius. The obtained solutions are more general than those obtained by the usual solution methods.

Quantum tunneling from generalized $(2+1)$ dimensional black holes having Noether symmetry

We have studied the Hawking radiation from {\it generalized} rotating and static $(2+1)$-dimensional BTZ black holes. In this regard, we have benefited the quantum tunneling approach with WKB approximation and obtained the tunneling rate of outgoing scalar and spinor particles across the horizons. We have also obtained the Hawking temperature at the horizons corresponding to the emission of these particles. It is shown that the tunneling rate and Hawking temperature of generalized $(2+1)$-dimensional BTZ black holes are different from ordinary $(2+1)$-dimensional BTZ black holes due to the Noether symmetry. In other words, the Noether symmetry can change the tunneling rate and Hawking temperature of the BTZ black holes. This symmetry may cause the BTZ black holes to avoid of evaporation and its breakdown may start the evaporation.

Vector inflation by kinetic coupled gravity

Vector inflation is a newly established model where inflation is driven by non-minimally coupled massive vector fields with a potential term. This model is similar to the model of chaotic inflation with scalar fields, except that for vector fields the isotropy of expansion is achieved either by considering a triplet of orthogonal vector fields or $N$ randomly oriented independent vector fields. We introduce a new version of vector inflation where the vector field has no potential term but is non-minimally coupled to gravity through the kinetic term. The non-minimal coupling is established by introducing the Einstein tensor besides the metric tensor within the kinetic term of the vector field.

Acceleration of the universe in matter dominant era by conformal symmetry breaking

We introduce a scenario in which the breakdown of conformal symmetry is responsible for the acceleration of universe in the matter dominant era. In this regard, we consider a self interacting scalar field non-minimally coupled to the Ricci scalar and the trace of energy-momentum tensor. For a traceless energy-momentum tensor in radiation dominant era, the coupling to matter vanishes and we are left with a conformal invariant gravitational action of Deser, where the universe may experience a decelerating phase in agreement with observations. In matter dominant era, the coupling to matter no longer vanishes, the conformal symmetry is broken down, and the matter inevitably becomes pressureless. The corresponding field equations are obtained and it is shown that the universe may have an accelerating phase in this era, provided that the value of self interaction coupling constant satisfies an specific lower bound. Moreover, we provide a reasonable solution to the coincidence problem.

Cosmological quantum tunneling and holographic principle

The probable trajectory of the ground state wave function of the universe arises through a quantum tunneling by gravitational instantons. We calculate the quantum tunneling rate for a $n>2$ dimensional closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe with a positive cosmological constant. In four dimensions, by using of the holographic principle, the tunneling rate is related to the maximal entropy of the early universe after quantum tunneling.

Dark energy from conformal symmetry breaking

The breakdown of conformal symmetry in a conformally invariant scalar-tensor gravitational model is revisited in the cosmological context. Although the old scenario of conformal symmetry breaking in cosmology containing scalar field has already been used in many earlier works, it seems that no special attention has been paid for the investigation on the possible connection between the breakdown of conformal symmetry and the existence of dark energy. In this paper, it is shown that the old scenario of conformal symmetry breaking in cosmology, if properly interpreted, not only has a potential ability to describe the origin of dark energy as a symmetry breaking effect, but also may resolve the coincidence problem.

Generalized (2+1) dimensional black hole by Noether symmetry

We use the Noether symmetry approach to find $f(R)$ theory of $(2+1)$ dimensional gravity and $(2+1)$ dimensional black hole solution consistent with this $f(R)$ gravity and the associated symmetry. We obtain $f({R})=D_1 R({n}/{n+1})({R}/{K})^{1/n}+D_2 R+D_3$, where the constant term $D_3$ plays no dynamical role. Then, we find general spherically symmetric solution for this $f(R)$ gravity which is potentially capable of being as a black hole. Moreover, in the special case $D_1=0, D_2={1}$, namely $f(R)=R+D_3$, we obtain a generalized BTZ black hole which, other than common conserved charges $m$ and $J$, contains a new conserved charge Q. It is shown that this conserved charge corresponds to the freedom in the choice of the constant term $D_3$ and represents symmetry of the action under the transformation $R \rightarrow R'=R+D_3$ along the killing vector $\partial_{R}$. The ordinary BTZ black hole is obtained as the special case where $D_3$ is {\it fixed} to be proportional to the infinitesimal cosmological constant and consequently the symmetry is broken via Q=0. We study the thermodynamics of the generalized BTZ black hole and show that its entropy can be described by the Cardy-Verlinde formula.

Is flat rotation curve a sign of cosmic expansion?

Four alternative proposals as the possible solutions for the rotation curve problem are introduced on the basis of assumption that the cosmic expansion is engaged with the galactic dynamics over the halo. The first one proposes a modification of equivalence principle in an accelerating universe. The second one proposes a modification of Mach principle in an expanding universe. The third one proposes a dynamics of variable mass system for the halo in an expanding universe, and the fourth one proposes the replacement of physical radius with comoving one over the halo, in an expanding universe.

Multi-Dimensional Cosmology and DSR-GUP

A multidimensional cosmology with FRW type metric having 4-dimensional space-time and $d$-dimensional Ricci-flat internal space is considered with a higher dimensional cosmological constant. The classical cosmology in commutative and DSR-GUP contexts is studied and the corresponding exact solutions for negative and positive cosmological constants are obtained. In the positive cosmological constant case, it is shown that unlike the commutative as well as GUP cases, in DSR-GUP case both scale factors of internal and external spaces after accelerating phase will inevitably experience decelerating phase leading simultaneously to a big crunch. This demarcation from GUP originates from the difference between the GUP and DSR-GUP algebras. The important result is that unlike GUP which results in eternal acceleration, DSR-GUP at first generates acceleration but prevents the eternal acceleration at late times and turns it into deceleration.

Signature Change by GUP

We revisit the issue of continuous signature transition from Euclidean to Lorentzian metrics in a cosmological model described by FRW metric minimally coupled with a self interacting massive scalar field. Then, using a noncommutative phase space of dynamical variables deformed by Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) we show that the signature transition occurs even for a model described by FRW metric minimally coupled with a free massless scalar field accompanied by a cosmological constant. This indicates that the continuous signature transition might have been easily occurred at early universe just by a free massless scalar field, a cosmological constant and a noncommutative phase space deformed by GUP, without resorting to a massive scalar field having an {\it ad hoc} complicate potential. We also study the quantum cosmology of the model and obtain a solution of Wheeler-DeWitt equation which shows a good correspondence with the classical path.

We consider Noether symmetry approach to find out exact cosmological solutions in $f(T)$-gravity. Instead of taking into account phenomenological models, we apply the Noether symmetry to the $f(T)$ gravity. Classical and quantum wormholes in a 5D compact Kaluza-Klein theory

We study the classical and quantum Euclidean wormholes for an empty (4+1) dimensional Kaluza-Klein universe with a positive cosmological constant and a spatially flat Robertson-Walker type metric. It is shown that classical wormholes do not exist neither for the spacetime sector nor the extra dimensional sector of this model, but two spectrums of quantum wormholes as the solutions of Wheeler-DeWitt equation exist which are consistent with the Hawking-Page conjecture about the necessary boundary conditions. In the spectrum where the external scale factor $R$ shapes the quantum wormholes the internal scale factor $a$ may play the role of effective matter source, and in the spectrum where the internal scale factor $a$ shapes the quantum wormholes the external scale factor $R$ may play the role of effective matter source.

Classical Euclidean wormhole solutions in Palatini $f(\tilde{R})$ cosmology

We study the classical Euclidean wormholes in the context of extended theories of gravity. With no loss of generality, we use the dynamical equivalence between $f(\tilde{R})$ gravity and scalar-tensor theories to construct a point-like Lagrangian in the flat FRW space time. We first show the dynamical equivalence between Palatini $f(\tilde{R})$ gravity and the Brans-Dicke theory with self-interacting potential, and then show the dynamical equivalence between the Brans-Dicke theory with self-interacting potential and the minimally coupled O'Hanlon theory. We show the existence of new Euclidean wormhole solutions for this O'Hanlon theory and, for an special case, find out the corresponding form of $f(\tilde{R})$ having wormhole solution. For small values of the Ricci scalar, this $f(\tilde{R})$ is in agreement with the wormhole solution obtained for higher order gravity theory $\tilde{R}+ε\tilde{R}^2,ε<0$.

Multi-Dimensional Cosmology and GUP

We consider a multidimensional cosmological model with FRW type metric having 4-dimensional space-time and $d$-dimensional Ricci-flat internal space sectors with a higher dimensional cosmological constant. We study the classical cosmology in commutative and GUP cases and obtain the corresponding exact solutions for negative and positive cosmological constants. It is shown that for negative cosmological constant, the commutative and GUP cases result in finite size universes with smaller size and longer ages, and larger size and shorter age, respectively. For positive cosmological constant, the commutative and GUP cases result in infinite size universes having late time accelerating behavior in good agreement with current observations. The accelerating phase starts in the GUP case sooner than the commutative case. In both commutative and GUP cases, and for both negative and positive cosmological constants, the internal space is stabilized to the sub-Planck size, at least within the present age of the universe. Then, we study the quantum cosmology by deriving the Wheeler-DeWitt equation, and obtain the exact solutions in the commutative case and the perturbative solutions in GUP case, to first order in the GUP small parameter, for both negative and positive cosmological constants. It is shown that good correspondence exists between the classical and quantum solutions.

Reconstruction of $f(R)$, $f(T)$ and $f(\mathcal{G})$ models inspired by variable deceleration parameter

We study an special law for the deceleration parameter, recently proposed by Akarsu and Dereli, in the context of $f(R)$, $f(T)$ and $f(\mathcal{G})$ theories of modified gravity. This law covers the law of Berman for obtaining exact cosmological models to account for the current acceleration of the universe, and also gives the opportunity to generalize many of the dark energy models having better consistency with the cosmological observations. Our aim is to reconstruct the $f(R)$, $f(T)$ and $f(\mathcal{G})$ models inspired by this law of variable deceleration parameter. Such models may then exhibit better consistency with the cosmological observations.

Dark pressure in a non-compact and non-Ricci flat 5D Kaluza-Klein cosmology

In the framework of noncompact Kaluza-Klein theory, we investigate a $(4+1)$-dimensional universe consisting of a $(4+1)$ dimensional Robertson-Walker type metric coupled to a $(4+1)$ dimensional energy-momentum tensor. The matter part consists of an energy density together with a pressure subject to 4D part of the $(4+1)$ dimensional energy-momentum tensor. The dark part consists of just a dark pressure $\bar{p}$, corresponding to the extra-dimension endowed by a scalar field, with no element of dark energy. It is shown that for a flat universe, coupled with the non-vacuum states of the scalar field, the reduced field equations subject to suitable equations of state for matter and dark part may reveal inflationary behavior at early universe, deceleration for radiation dominant era and then acceleration in matter dominant era.

Dynamical conformal transformation and classical Euclidean wormholes

We investigate the necessary condition for the existence of classical Euclidean wormholes in a conformally non-invariant gravitational model minimally coupled to an scalar field. It is shown that while the original Ricci tensor with positive eigenvalues does not allow the Euclidean wormholes to occur, under dynamical conformal transformations the Ricci tensor, with respect to the original metric, is dynamically coupled with the conformal field and its eigenvalues may become negative allowing the Euclidean wormholes to occur. Therefore, it is conjectured that dynamical conformal transformations may provide us with {\it effective} forms of matter sources leading to Euclidean wormholes in conformally non-invariant systems.

Euclidean wormholes with Phantom field and Phantom field accompanied by perfect fluid

We study the classical Euclidean wormhole solutions for the gravitational systems with minimally coupled pure Phantom field and minimally coupled Phantom field accompanied by perfect fluid. It is shown that such solutions do exist and then the general forms of the Phantom field potential are obtained for which there are classical Euclidean wormhole solutions.

One-loop quantum cosmological correction to the gravitational constant in the closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe

In this paper, we calculate the one-loop quantum cosmological corrections to the kink energy in the closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe in which the fluctuation potential $V^{\prime\prime}$ has a shape invariance property. We use the generalized zeta function regularization method to implement our setup for describing quantum kink-like states. It is conjectured that the corrections lead to the renormalized gravitational constant.

One-loop quantum cosmological correction to the gravitational constant using the kink solution in de Sitter universe

In this paper, we show the equivalence between a classical static scalar field theory and the (closed) de Sitter cosmological model whose potential represents shape invariance property. Based on this equivalence, we calculate the one-loop quantum cosmological correction to the ground state energy of the kink-like solution in the (closed) de Sitter cosmological model in which the fluctuation potential $V^{\prime\prime}$ has a shape invariance property. It is shown that this type of correction, which yields a renormalized mass in the case of scalar field theory, may be {\it interpreted} as a renormalized gravitational constant in the case of (closed) de Sitter cosmological model. Keywords: One-loop correction; kink energy; shape invariance; zeta function regularization; de Sitter universe.

Scale transformation, modified gravity, and Brans-Dicke theory

A model of Einstein-Hilbert action subject to the scale transformation is studied. By introducing a dilaton field as a means of scale transformation a new action is obtained whose Einstein field equations are consistent with traceless matter with non-vanishing modified terms together with dynamical cosmological and gravitational coupling terms. The obtained modified Einstein equations are neither those in $f(R)$ metric formalism nor the ones in $f({\cal R})$ Palatini formalism, whereas the modified source terms are {\it formally} equivalent to those of $f({\cal R})=\frac{1}{2}{\cal R}^2$ gravity in Palatini formalism. The correspondence between the present model, the modified gravity theory, and Brans-Dicke theory with $ω=-\frac{3}{2}$ is explicitly shown, provided the dilaton field is condensated to its vacuum state.

A New interpretation of MOND based on Mach principle and an Unruh like effect

A new interpretation is introduced for MOND based on the Sciama's interpretation of Mach principle and an Unruh like effect, in the context of a generalized equivalence principle. It is argued that in a locally accelerated frame with acceleration $a$ the appearance of a Rindler horizon may give rise to a constant acceleration $a_0$ as the local properties of cosmological horizon or Hubble length. The total gravitational acceleration inside this frame becomes the combination of $a$ with $a_0$. For $a\gg a_0$, the conventional gravitational mass $m_g$ interacts with the dominant acceleration as $m_g a$ and application of Sciama's interpretation leads to the standard Newtonian dynamics. For $a\ll a_0$, however, a reduced gravitational mass $\bar{m}_g$ interacts with the dominant acceleration as $\bar{m}_g a_0$ and the application of Sciama's interpretation on this reduced gravitational mass leads to MOND. This introduces a third proposal for MOND: {\it The modification of gravitational mass}.

An expanding 4D universe in a 5D Kaluza-Klein cosmology with higher dimensional matter

In the framework of Kaluza-Klein theory, we investigate a $(4+1)$-dimensional universe consisting of a $(4+1)$ dimensional Robertson-Walker type metric coupled with a $(4+1)$ dimensional energy-momentum tensor. It is shown that the reduced Einstein field equations are free of 4D pressure and are just affected by an effective pressure produced by the 4D energy density and dark pressure. It is then proposed that the expansion of the universe may be controlled by the equation of state in higher dimension rather than four dimensions. This may account for the emergence of unexpected current acceleration in the middle of matter dominant era.

Correspondence between modified gravity and 5D Ricci-flat cosmologies

We study the correspondence between two theoretical frameworks for describing dark energy, $f(R)$ gravity and higher-dimensional Space-Time-Matter (STM) or induced-matter theory. We show that the Hubble expansion parameter in $f(R)$ gravity can be associated with a combination of metric functions in STM theory, and consider a specific example whose properties are consistent with late-time acceleration.

Families of exact solutions of a 2D gravity model minimally coupled to electrodynamics

Three families of exact solutions for 2-dimensional gravity minimally coupled to electrodynamics are obtained in the context of ${\cal R}=T$ theory. It is shown, by supersymmetric formalism of quantum mechanics, that the quantum dynamics of a neutral bosonic particle on static backgrounds with both varying curvature and electric field is exactly solvable.
