A hyperholomorphic line bundle on certain hyperkähler manifolds not admitting an $S^1$-symmetry

Generalizing work of Haydys and Hitchin, we prove the existence of a hyperholomorphic line bundle on certain hyperkähler manifolds that do not necessarily admit an $S^1$ action. As examples, we consider the moduli space of (non-strongly) parabolic Higgs bundles, the moduli space of solutions to Nahm's equations, and Nakajima quiver varieties.

Characteristic classes of Higgs bundles and Reznikov's theorem

We introduce Dolbeault cohomology valued characteristic classes of Higgs bundles over complex manifolds. Flat vector bundles have characteristic classes lying in odd degree de Rham cohomology and a theorem of Reznikov says that these must vanish in degrees three and higher over compact Kähler manifolds. We provide a simple and independent proof of Reznikov's result and show that our characteristic classes of Higgs bundles and the characteristic classes of flat vector bundles are compatible via the nonabelian Hodge theorem.

Symplectic Dolbeault Operators on Kähler Manifolds

For a Kähler Manifold $M$, the "symplectic Dolbeault operators" are defined using the symplectic spinors and associated Dirac operators, in complete analogy to how the usual Dolbeault operators, $\bar\partial$ and $\bar\partial^*$, arise from Dirac operators on the canonical complex spinors on $M$. We give special attention to two special classes of Kähler manifolds: Riemann surfaces and flag manifolds ($G/T$ for $G$ a simply-connected compact semisimple Lie group and $T$ a maximal torus). In the case of flag manifolds, we work with the Hermitian structure induced by the Killing form and a choice of positive roots (this is actually not a Kähler structure but is a Kähler with torsion (KT) structure). For Riemann surfaces the symplectic Dolbeault operators are elliptic and we compute their indices. In the case of flag manifolds, we will see that the representation theory of $G$ plays a role and that these operators can be used to distinguish (as Hermitian manifolds) between the flag manifolds corresponding to the Lie algebras $B_n$ and $C_n$. We give a thorough analysis of these operators on $\C P^1$ (the intersection of these classes of spaces), where the symplectic Dolbeault operators have an especially interesting structure.

Bilinear Forms and Fierz Identities for Real Spin Representations

Given a real representation of the Clifford algebra corresponding to $R^{p+q}$ with metric of signature $(p,q)$, we demonstrate the existence of two natural bilinear forms on the space of spinors. With the Clifford action of $k$-forms on spinors, the bilinear forms allow us to relate two spinors with elements of the exterior algebra. From manipulations of a rank four spinorial tensor, we are able to find a general class of identities which, upon specializing from four spinors to two spinors and one spinor in signatures (1,3) and (10,1), yield some well-known Fierz identities. We will see, surprisingly, that the identities we construct are partly encoded in certain involutory real matrices that resemble the Krawtchouk matrices.
