Baryonic form factors of the pion and kaon in a chiral quark model

The baryonic form factor of charged pions is studied in detail in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with constituent quarks, where the spontaneously broken chiral symmetry is the key dynamical ingredient guaranteeing the would-be Goldstone boson nature of the pseudoscalar mesons octet. In general, this form factor arises when the isospin symmetry is broken, which is the case if the $u$ and $d$ quark masses are split, as in the real world, or if the electromagnetic effects were taken into account. We obtain estimates for this basic property of the pion resulting from the quark mass splitting for a range of model parameters, and importantly, for different pion masses, going up to the values used in lattice QCD. We find very stable model results, with the mean square radius of $π^+$ in the range $(0.05-0.07~{\rm fm})^2$. From charge conjugation, the baryonic form factor of $π^+$ and $π^-$ are equal and opposite. We also obtain the transverse-coordinate, relativistically invariant baryonic density of the charged pion. In $π^+$, the inner region carries a negative, and the outside -- a positive baryon number density, both cancelling to zero, as obviously the pion carries no net baryon charge. We also carry out an analogous analysis for the kaon, where the effect is much larger due to the sizable $s$ and $u/d$ quark mass splitting. We discuss the prospects of lattice QCD measurements of the baryonic form factors of charged pions and kaons.

Generalized quasi, Ioffe-time, and pseudo quark distributions of the pion in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model

We analyze the generalized quasi, Ioffe-time, and pseudo distributions of the valence quarks in the pion at the quark model scale. We use the framework of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and investigate the basic question of how fast the pion has to move to effectively reach the infinite momentum limit, where the approach can provide the information on the generalized parton distribution functions. We consider both the vector distributions and the transversity distributions, related to the spin densities. With the developed analytic expressions, we conclude that to effectively approach the infinite momentum limit, one roughly needs the pion momenta of the order of $\sim 3$GeV. We also explore polynomiality of the quasi distributions and study the generalized quasi form factors. The issue of separability of the transverse and longitudinal dynamics in the model is studied with the help of the generalized Ioffe-time distributions, with the conclusion that the breaking is not substantial, unless the momentum transfer $t$ is large. We also provide an estimate of the range of the Ioffe-time values needed to obtain the generalized parton distributions with a reasonable accuracy. Our model results, which are analytic or semi-analytic, provide a valuable insight into the theoretical formalism and illustrate the intricate features of the investigated distributions.

Double parton distribution of valence quarks in the pion in chiral quark models

The valence double parton distribution of the pion is analyzed in the framework of chiral quark models, where in the chiral limit factorization between the longitudinal and transverse degrees of freedom occurs. This feature leads, at the quark-model scale, to a particularly simple distribution of the form $D(x_1,x_2, \vec{q}) = δ(1-x_1-x_2) F(\vec{q})$, where $x_{1,2}$ are the longitudinal momentum fractions carried the valence quark and antiquark and $\vec{q}$ is their relative transverse momentum. For $\vec{q}=\vec{0}$ this result complies immediately to the Gaunt-Sterling sum rules. The DGLAP evolution to higher scales is carried out in terms of the Mellin moments. We then explore its role on the longitudinal correlation quantified with the ratio of the double distribution to the product of single distributions, $D(x_1,x_2, \vec{q}=\vec{0})/D(x_1)D(x_2)$. We point out that the ratios of moments $\langle x_1^n x_2^m \rangle / \langle x_1^n \rangle \langle x_2^m \rangle $ are independent of the evolution, providing particularly suitable measures to be tested in the upcoming lattice simulations. The transverse form factor $F(\vec{q})$ and its Fourier conjugate in the relative transverse coordinate $\vec{b}$ are obtained in variants of the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with the spectral and Pauli-Villars regularizations. The results are valid in the soft-momentum domain. Interestingly, with the spectral regularization of the model, the effective cross section for the double parton scattering of pions is exactly equal to the geometric cross section, $σ_{\rm eff}=π\langle \vec{b}^2 \rangle$ and yields about 20~mb.

Double parton distributions of the pion

We present a calculation of valence double parton distributions of the pion in the framework of chiral quark models. The result obtained at the low-energy quark model scale is particularly simple, where in the chiral limit a factorized form follows, $D(x_1,x_2, \vec{q}) = δ(1-x_1-x_2) F(\vec{q})$ with $x_{1,2}$ standing for the longitudinal momentum fractions of the valence quark and antiquark, and $\vec{q}$ denotes the relative transverse momentum. For $\vec{q}=\vec{0}$ the result satisfies the Gaunt-Sterling sum rules. The QCD evolution to higher scales is carried out within the dDGLAP framework. We argue that the ratios of the valence Mellin moments $\langle x_1^n x_2^m \rangle / \langle x_1^n \rangle \langle x_2^m \rangle $, which do not depend on the dDGLAP evolution, provide particularly convenient measures of the longitudinal correlations between the partons. Such ratios could be probed in future lattice QCD simulations.

Double parton distributions of the pion in the NJL model

We evaluate the valence double parton distribution (dPDF) of the pion in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. At the low-energy quark-model scale and in the chiral limit a particularly simple factorized form $D(x_1,x_2, \vec{q}) = δ(1-x_1-x_2) F(\vec{q})$ follows, where $x_{1,2}$ denote the longitudinal momentum fractions of the valence quark and antiquark, and $\vec{q}$ is their relative transverse momentum. For $\vec{q}=\vec{0}$ our result complies to the Gaunt-Sterling sum rules. We carry out the necessary dDGLAP evolution to higher scales via the Mellin moments and explore its impact on the correlation defined as the ratio of dPDF to the product of single parton distributions, $D(x_1,x_2, \vec{q}=\vec{0})/D(x_1)D(x_2)$. Since the ratios of the valence Mellin moments $\langle x_1^n x_2^m \rangle / \langle x_1^n \rangle \langle x_2^m \rangle $ are invariants of the dDGLAP evolution, they may serve as robust measures of these correlations. Model predictions, which can be tested in the upcoming lattice simulations, are provided. We also discuss the transverse form factor related to the dPDF of the pion.

Flow in collisions of light nuclei

In this talk we discuss several interesting aspects of collective flow in small systems in reference to planned future experiments. First, we bring in the novel possibility of exploring elliptic flow with heavy nuclei collisions on polarized deuteron targets, accessible in AFTER@LHC program after Long Shutdown 3. Then we pass to the Glauber model predictions for the presently considered ${}^{16}{\rm O}-{}^{16}{\rm O}$ program and RHIC and the LHC. Finally, we turn to our previous proposal concerning specific flow signatures of intrinsic correlations (such as the supposed $α$ clusterization) in the structure of light nuclei in collisions with heavy nuclei. In particular, ${}^{12}{\rm C}$--heavy nucleus ultrarelativistic reactions would provide insight into the ground-state ${}^{12}{\rm C}$ structure, complementary to the traditional nuclear structure features.

NN scattering and nuclear uncertainties

Ab initio calculations in Nuclear physics for atomic nuclei require a specific knowledge of the interactions among their constituents, protons and neutrons. In particular, NN interactions can be constrained down to scale resolutions of $Δr \sim 0.6 {\rm fm}$ from the study of phase shifts below the pion production threshold. However, this allows for ambiguities and uncertainties which have an impact on finite nuclei, nuclear- and neutron-matter properties. On the other hand the nuclear many body problem is intrinsically difficult and the computational cost increases with numerical precision and number of nucleons. However, it is unclear what the physical precision should be for these calculations. In this contribution we review much of the work done in Granada to encompass both the uncertainties stemming from the NN scattering database in light nuclei such as triton and alpha particle and the numerical precision required by the solution method.

Renormalization group and scattering-equivalent Hamiltonians on a coarse momentum grid

We consider the $ππ$-scattering problem in the context of the Kadyshevsky equation. In this scheme, we introduce a momentum grid and provide an isospectral definition of the phase-shift based on the spectral shift of a Chebyshev angle. We address the problem of the unnatural high momentum tails present in the fitted interactions which reaches energies far beyond the maximal center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=1.4$ GeV. It turns out that these tails can be integrated out by using a block-diagonal generator of the SRG.

$ππ$ scattering from a similarity renormalization group perspective

A Wilsonian approach based on the Similarity Renormalization Group to $ππ$ scattering is analyzed in the $JI=$00, 11 and 02 channels in momentum space up to a maximal CM energy of $\sqrt{s}=1.4$ GeV. We identify the Hamiltonian by means of the 3D reduction of the Bethe-Salpeter equation in the Kadyschevsky scheme. We propose a new method to integrate the SRG equations based in the Crank-Nicolson algorithm with a single step finite difference so that isospectrality is preserved at any step of the calculations. We discuss issues on the high momentum tails present in the fitted interactions hampering calculations.

Is the X(3872) a bound state ?

All existing experimental evidence of the bound state nature of the $X(3872)$ relies on considering its decay products with a finite experimental spectral mass resolution which is typically $Δm \ge 2 $MeV and much larger than its alleged binding energy, $B_X=0.00(18)$MeV. On the other hand, we have found recently that there is a neat cancellation in the $1^{++}$ channel for the invariant $D \bar D^*$ mass around the threshold between the continuum and bound state contribution. This is very much alike a similar cancellation in the proton-neutron continuum with the deuteron in the $1^{++}$ channel. Based on comparative fits of experimental cross section deuteron and $X(3872)$ prompt production in pp collisions data with a finite $p_T$ to a common Tsallis distribution we find a strong argument questioning the bound state nature of the state but also explaining the large observed production rate likely consistent with a half-bound state.

Isospectral scattering for relativistic equivalent Hamiltonians on a coarse momentum grid

The scattering phase-shifts are invariant under unitary transformations of the Hamiltonian. However, the numerical solution of the scattering problem that requires to discretize the continuum violates this phase-shift invariance among unitarily equivalent Hamiltonians. We extend a newly found prescription for the calculation of phase shifts which relies only on the eigenvalues of a relativistic Hamiltonian and its corresponding Chebyshev angle shift. We illustrate this procedure numerically considering $ππ$, $πN$ and $NN$ elastic interactions which turns out to be competitive even for small number of grid points.

Generalized Valon Model for Double Parton Distributions

We show how the double parton distributions may be obtained consistently from the many-body light-cone wave functions. We illustrate the method on the example of the pion with two Fock components. The procedure, by construction, satisfies the Gaunt-Stirling sum rules. The resulting single parton distributions of valence quarks and gluons are consistent with a phenomenological parametrization at a low scale.

Proton-Proton On Shell Optical Potential at High Energies and the Hollownes Effect

We analyze the usefulness of the optical potential as suggested by the double spectral Mandelstam representation at very high energies, such as in the proton-proton scattering at ISR and the LHC. Its particular meaning regarding the interpretation of the scattering data up to the maximum available measured energies is discussed. Our analysis reconstructs 3D dynamics from the effective transverse 2D impact parameter representation and suggests that besides the onset of gray nucleons at the LHC there appears an inelasticity depletion (hollowness) which precludes convolution models at the attometer scale.

Thermal shifts, fluctuations, and missing states

Thermal shifts and fluctuations at finite temperature below the deconfinement crossover from hadronic matter to the quark-gluon plasma provide a viable way to search for missing states with given quantum numbers in the hadronic spectrum. We analyze three realizations of the hadron resonance gas model in the light quark (uds) sector: the states from the Particle Data Group tables with or without width and from the Relativized Quark Model. We elaborate on the meaning of hadronic completeness and thermodynamical equivalence on the light of lattice QCD trace anomaly, heavy quark entropy shift and baryon, charge and strangeness susceptibilities.

Alpha clustering and flow in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions

We show how ultra-relativistic collisions of light nuclei with heavy targets may be used to record snap-shots of the ground-state configurations and reveal information on cluster correlations. The development of collective flow in the formed fireball, which reflects the geometric correlations in the initial state, is essential for the method. As an illustration we analyze the 12C-208Pb collisions.

preprint2014arXiv

Alpha clusters and collective flow in ultra-relativistic carbon - heavy nucleus collisions

We investigate ultrarelativistic collisions of the 12C nucleus with heavy targets and show that the harmonic flow measures based on ratios of cumulant moments are particularly suited to study the intrinsic deformation of the 12C wave function. That way one can probe the expected alpha clusterization in the ground state, which leads to large initial triangularity in the shape of the fireball in the transverse plane. We show that the clusterization effect results in very characteristic behavior of the ratios of the cumulant moments as functions of the number of participant nucleons, both for the elliptic and triangular deformations. Thus the experimental event-by-event studies of harmonic flow in ultrarelativistic light-heavy collisions may offer a new window to look at the ground-state structure of light nuclei.

preprint2014arXiv

Signatures of alpha clustering in light nuclei from relativistic nuclear collisions

We argue that relativistic nuclear collisions may provide experimental evidence of alpha clustering in light nuclei. A light alpha-clustered nucleus has a large intrinsic deformation. When collided against a heavy nucleus at very high energies, this deformation transforms into the deformation of the fireball in the transverse plane. The subsequent collective evolution of the fireball leads to harmonic flow reflecting the deformation of the initial shape, which can be measured with standard methods of relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We illustrate the feasibility of the idea by modeling the 12C-208Pb collisions and point out that very significant quantitative and qualitative differences between the alpha-clustered and uniform 12C nucleus occur in such quantities as the triangular flow, its event-by-event fluctuations, or the correlations of the elliptic and triangular flows. The proposal offers a possibility of studying low-energy nuclear phenomena with "snapshots" made with relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

Implicit vs Explicit renormalization of the $NN$ force

We use an S-wave toy model for the two-nucleon system to show that the implicit renormalization of a contact theory matches the explicit renormalization through a flow equation which integrates out the high momentum components. By fitting the low-momentum interaction with a new contact theory, we show that the running of the contact strengths in both original and fitted contact theories match over a wide cutoff range.

Reply to "Comment on 'Systematics of radial and angular-momentum Regge trajectories of light non-strange qqbar-states' "

In his Comment, D. Bugg argues against our usage of the PDG collection of light non-strange states together with the half-width rule to analyze the linearity of radial and angular-moment Regge trajectories in the large-N_c limit. After taking into account his observations on our choice of data, the radial Regge trajectories are again analyzed. We still find that our conclusion on the lack of universality between radial- and angular-momentum Regge trajectories is valid.

Valence double parton distributions of the nucleon in a simple model

Valence double parton distribution functions of the nucleon are evaluated in the framework of a simple model, where the conservation of the longitudinal momentum is taken into account. The leading-order DGLAP QCD evolution from the low quark-model scale to higher renormalization scales is carried out via the Mellin moments of the distributions. Results of the valence quark correlation function show that in general the double distributions cannot be approximated as a product of the single-particle distributions.

Meson dominance of hadron form factors and large-Nc phenomenology

We discuss the pion and nucleon form factors and generalized form factors within the large-Nc approach in the space-like region. We estimate their theoretical uncertainties through the use of the half-width rule, amounting to taking the half-width of the resonances as the deviation of their mass parameters. The approach embodies the meson dominance of form factors and the high-energy constraints from perturbative QCD. We compare the results with the available experimental data and lattice simulations. The meson-dominance form factors are generally comparable to the available experimental data within the half-width-rule uncertainties. Our errors are comparable to the experimental uncertainties, but are smaller than lattice errors.

Symmetries of the Similarity Renormalization Group for Nuclear Forces

We analyze the role played by Long Distance Symmetries within the context of the Similarity Renormalization Group (SRG) approach, which is based on phase-shift preserving continuous unitary transformations that evolve hamiltonians with a cutoff on energy differences. We find that there is a SRG cutoff for which almost perfect fulfillment of Wigner symmetry is found. We discuss the possible consequences of such finding.

Systematics of radial and angular-momentum Regge trajectories of light non-strange q\bar{q}-states

We reanalyze the radial (n) and angular-momentum (J) Regge trajectories for all light-quark states with baryon number zero listed in the 2011 edition of the Particle Data Tables. The parameters of the trajectories are obtained with linear regression, with weight of each resonance inversely proportional to its half-width squared, $(Γ/2)^2$. That way we are side-stepping possible channel-dependent and model-dependent extractions of the resonance parameters and are able to undertake an error analysis. The method complies to the fact that the pole position of the resonance is typically shifted from channel-dependent extractions by $\simΓ/2$. This is also a feature of the large-$N_c$ limit of QCD, where the masses change by $ Γ/2$ when evolving from $N_c=3$ to $N_c=\infty$. Our value for the slope of the radial Regge trajectories is $a=1.35(4) GeV^2$. We discuss the fundamental issue whether the masses of the light-quark non-strange states fit into a universal pattern $M_{nJ}^2 = a(n+J) +b$, as suggested by Afonin, and also predicted by some holographic models. Our joint linear-regression analysis in the $(n,J,M^2)$ Regge planes indicates, at a statistically significant level of 4.5 standard deviations, that the slopes of the radial Regge trajectories are larger from the angular-momentum slopes. Thus no strict universality of slopes occurs in the light non-strange meson spectra.

0++ states in a large-Nc Regge approach

Scalar-isoscalar states ($J^{PC}=0^{++}$) are discussed within the large-$N_c$ Regge approach. We find that the lightest $f_0(600)$ scalar-isoscalar state fits very well into the pattern of the radial Regge trajectory where the resonance nature of the states is advantageously used. We confirm the obtained mass values from an analysis of the pion and nucleon spin-0 gravitational form factors, recently measured on the lattice. We provide arguments suggesting an alternating meson-glueball pattern of the 0++ states, which is supported by the pseudoscalar-isovector 0+- excited spectrum and asymptotic chiral symmetry. Finally, matching to the OPE requires a fine-tuned mass condition of the vanishing dimension-2 condensate in the Regge approach with infinitely many scalar-isoscalar states.

Generalized Quark Transversity Distribution of the Pion in Chiral Quark Models

The transversity generalized parton distributions (tGPDs) of the the pion, involving matrix elements of the tensor bilocal quark current, are analyzed in chiral quark models. We apply the nonlocal chiral models involving a momentum-dependent quark mass, as well as the local Nambu--Jona-Lasinio with the Pauli-Villars regularization to calculate the pion tGPDs, as well as related quantities following from restrained kinematics, evaluation of moments, or taking the Fourier-Bessel transforms to the impact-parameter space. The obtained distributions satisfy the formal requirements, such as proper support and polynomiality, following from Lorentz covariance. We carry out the leading-order QCD evolution from the low quark-model scale to higher lattice scales, applying the method of Kivel and Mankiewicz. We evaluate several lowest-order generalized transversity form factors, accessible from the recent lattice QCD calculations. These form factors, after evolution, agree properly with the lattice data, in support of the fact that the spontaneously broken chiral symmetry is the key element also in the evaluation of the transversity observables.

Transversity Form Factors and Generalized Parton Distributions of the pion in chiral quark models

The transversity Generalized Parton Distributions (tGPDs) and related transversity form factors of the pion are evaluated in chiral quark models, both local (Nambu--Jona-Lasinio) and nonlocal, involving a momentum-dependent quark mass. The obtained tGPDs satisfy all a priori formal requirements, such as the proper support, normalization, and polynomiality. We evaluate generalized transversity form factors accessible from the recent lattice QCD calculations. These form factors, after the necessary QCD evolution, agree very well with the lattice data, confirming the fact that the spontaneously broken chiral symmetry governs the structure of the pion also in the case of the transversity observables.

Transversity structure of the pion in chiral quark models

We describe the chiral quark model evaluation of the transversity Generalized Parton Distributions (tGPDs) and related transversity form factors (tFFs) of the pion. The obtained tGPDs satisfy all necessary formal requirements, such as the proper support, normalization, and polynomiality. The lowest tFFs, after the necessary QCD evolution, compare favorably to the recent lattice QCD determination. Thus the transversity observables of the pion support once again the fact that the spontaneously broken chiral symmetry governs the structure of the Goldstone pion. The proper QCD evolution is crucial in these studies.

Pion transition form factor in the Regge approach

We explore the BaBar puzzle within the Regge approach. After reviewing the chiral quark models in applications to PDF and PDA of the pion, we argue that variants of these models, fulfilling the chiral anomaly, may in fact violate the second Terazawa-West unitarity bound, which is based on unverified assumptions for the real part of the amplitude. Consequently, the transition form factor need not vanish at large values of the photon virtuality. Then we show that the experimental data may be properly explained with incomplete vector-meson dominance in a simple model with one state, as well as in more sophisticated radial Regge models including infinitely many states. We also consider the experimental constraint from the rare Z -> pi0 gamma decay, which is comfortably satisfied in our approach. Finally, we point out that the photon momentum asymmetry parameter may noticeably influence the precision fits to the data.

preprint2010arXiv

Pion transition form factor in the Regge approach and incomplete vector-meson dominance

The concept of incomplete vector-meson dominance and Regge models is applied to the transition form factor of the pion. First, we argue that variants of the chiral quark model fulfilling the chiral anomaly may violate the Terazawa-West unitarity bounds, as these bounds are based on unverified assumptions for the real parts of the amplitudes, precluding a possible presence of polynomial terms. A direct consequence is that the transition form factor need not necessarily vanish at large values of the photon virtuality. Moreover, in the range of the BaBar experiment, the Terazawa-West bound is an order of magnitude above the data, thus is of formal rather than practical interest. Then we demonstrate how the experimental data may be properly explained with incomplete vector-meson dominance in a simple model with one state, as well as in more sophisticated Regge models. Generalizations of the simple Regge model along the lines of Dominguez result in a proper description of the data, where one may adjust the parameters in such a way that the Terazawa-West bound is satisfied or violated. We also impose the experimental constraint from the Z -> pi0 gamma decay. Finally, we point out that the photon momentum asymmetry parameter may noticeably influence the precision analysis.

Scalar-isoscalar states in the large-Nc Regge approach

Scalar-isoscalar states (0++) are investigated within the large-Nc Regge approach. We elaborate on the consequences of including the lightest f0(600) scalar-isoscalar state into such an analysis, where the position of f0(600) fits very well into the pattern of the radial Regge trajectory. Furthermore, we point out that the pion and nucleon spin-0 gravitational form factors, recently measured on the lattice, provide valuable information on the low-mass spectrum of the scalar-isoscalar states on the basis of the scalar-meson dominance in the spin-0 channel. Through the fits to these data we find m_sigma= 450-600 MeV. We compare the predictions of various fits and methods. An analysis of the QCD condensates in the two-point correlators provides further constraints on the parameters of the scalar-isoscalar sector. We find that a simple two-state model suggests a meson nature of f0(600), and a glueball nature of f0(980), which naturally explains the ratios of various coupling constants. Finally, we note that the fine-tuned condition of the vanishing dimension-2 condensate in the Regge approach with infinitely many scalar-isoscalar states yields a reasonable value for the mass of the lighest glueball state.

Transversity form factors of the pion in chiral quark models

The transversity form factors of the pion, involving matrix elements of bilocal tensor currents, are evaluated in chiral quark models, both in the local Nambu--Jona-Lasinio with the Pauli-Villars regularization, as well as in nonlocal models involving momentum-dependent quark mass. After suitable QCD evolution the agreement with recent lattice calculations is very good, in accordance to the fact that the spontaneously broken chiral symmetry governs the dynamics of the pion. Meson dominance of form factors with expected meson masses also works properly, conforming to the parton-hadron duality in the considered process.

Transversity relations, chiral and holographic models, and pion wave functions from lattice QCD

We analyze the equal-time Bethe-Salpeter quark wave functions of the pion in various models. We discuss how the quenched lattice QCD results with delocalized pion interpolators can be identified with the coarse grained wave functions, typical of low-energy effective models. Actually, we find that one-loop chiral quark models predict that pseudoscalar and tensor wave functions have the same shape, while the axial component is more extended. These facts are accurately confirmed by the lattice. We also show how the transversity information, relevant for the light-cone physics, can be straightforwardly obtained from the equal-time rest-frame lattice calculations. This remarkable relation provides a way to extract, for instance, the equal-time holographic wave functions and compare them, quite favorably, to the lattice calculations.

A note on the QCD evolution of generalized form factors

Generalized form factors of hadrons are objects appearing in moments of the generalized parton distributions. Their leading-order DGLAP-ERBL QCD evolution is exceedingly simple and the solution is given in terms of matrix triangular structures of linear equations where the coefficients are the evolution ratios. We point out that this solution has a practical importance in analyses where the generalized form factors are basic objects, e.g., the lattice-gauge studies or models. It also displays general features of their evolution.

We also show how transversity information, relevant for the light-cone physics, can be obtained from our equal-time rest-frame lattice calculations.

Impact-parameter dependence of the generalized parton distribution of the pion in chiral quark models

We compute the off-forward diagonal non-singlet generalized parton distribution of the pion in two distinct chiral quark models: the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with the Pauli-Villars regulator and the Spectral Quark Model. The analysis is carried out in the impact-parameter space. Leading-order perturbative QCD evolution is carried out via the inverse Mellin transform in the index space. The model predictions agree very reasonably with the recent results from transverse-lattice calculations, reproducing qualitatively both the Bjorken-x and the impact-parameter dependence of the data.
