A bootstrapping approach to jump inequalities and their applications

The aim of this paper is to present an abstract and general approach to jump inequalities in harmonic analysis. Our principal conclusion is the refinement of $r$-variational estimates, previously known for $r>2$, to end-point results for the jump quasi-seminorm corresponding to $r=2$. This is applied to the dimension-free results recently obtained by the first two authors in collaboration with Bourgain and Wróbel (arXiv:1708.04639 and arXiv:1804.07679), and also to operators of Radon type treated by Jones, Seeger, and Wright.

Algebras of singular integral operators with kernels controlled by multiple norms

The purpose of this paper is to study algebras of singular integral operators on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ and nilpotent Lie groups that arise when one considers the composition of Calderón-Zygmund operators with different homogeneities, such as operators that occur in sub-elliptic problems and those arising in elliptic problems. For example, one would like to describe the algebras containing the operators related to the Kohn-Laplacian for appropriate domains, or those related to inverses of Hörmander sub-Laplacians, when these are composed with the more standard class of pseudo-differential operators. The algebras we study can be characterized in a number of different but equivalent ways, and consist of operators that are pseudo-local and bounded on $L^{p}$ for $1<p<\infty$. While the usual class of Calderón-Zygmund operators is invariant under a one-parameter family of dilations, the operators we study fall outside this class, and reflect a multi-parameter structure.

Pseudodifferential operators of mixed type adapted to distributions of $k$-planes

We study the phenomena that arise when we combine the standard pseudodifferential operators with those operators that appear in the study of some sub-elliptic estimates, and on strongly pseudoconvex domains. The algebra of operators we introduce is geometrically invariant, and is adapted to a smooth distribution of tangent subspaces of constant rank. We isolate certain ideals in the algebra whose analysis is of particular interest.

Cauchy-type integrals in several complex variables

We present the theory of Cauchy-Fantappié integral operators, with emphasis on the situation when the domain of integration, $D$, has minimal boundary regularity. Among these operators we focus on those that are more closely related to the classical Cauchy integral for a planar domain, whose kernel is a holomorphic function of the parameter $z\in D$. The goal is to prove $L^p$ estimates for these operators and, as a consequence, to obtain $L^p$ estimates for the canonical Cauchy-Szegö and Bergman projection operators (which are not of Cauchy-Fantappié type).

Multi-parameter singular Radon transforms II: the L^p theory

The purpose of this paper is to study the $L^p$ boundedness of operators of the form \[ f\mapsto ψ(x) \int f(γ_t(x))K(t)\: dt, \] where $γ_t(x)$ is a $C^\infty$ function defined on a neighborhood of the origin in $(t,x)\in \R^N\times \R^n$, satisfying $γ_0(x)\equiv x$, $ψ$ is a $C^\infty$ cutoff function supported on a small neighborhood of $0\in \R^n$, and $K$ is a "multi-parameter singular kernel" supported on a small neighborhood of $0\in \R^N$. We also study associated maximal operators. The goal is, given an appropriate class of kernels $K$, to give conditions on $γ$ such that every operator of the above form is bounded on $L^p$ ($1<p<\infty$). The case when $K$ is a Calderón-Zygmund kernel was studied by Christ, Nagel, Stein, and Wainger; we generalize their work to the case when $K$ is (for instance) given by a "product kernel." Even when $K$ is a Calderón-Zygmund kernel, our methods yield some new results. This is the second paper in a three part series. The first paper deals with the case $p=2$, while the third paper deals with the special case when $γ$ is real analytic.

The Bergman projection in $L^p$ for domains with minimal smoothness

Let $D\subset\mathbb C^n$ be a bounded, strongly Levi-pseudoconvex domain with minimally smooth boundary. We prove $L^p(D)$-regularity for the Bergman projection $B$, and for the operator $|B|$ whose kernel is the absolute value of the Bergman kernel with $p$ in the range $(1,+\infty)$. As an application, we show that the space of holomorphic functions in a neighborhood of $\bar{D}$ is dense in $\vartheta L^p (D)$.

Multi-parameter singular Radon transforms

The purpose of this announcement is to describe a development given in a series of forthcoming papers by the authors that concern operators of the form \[ f\mapsto ψ(x) \int f(γ_t(x)) K(t)\: dt, \] where $γ_t(x)=γ(t,x)$ is a $C^\infty$ function defined on a neighborhood of the origin in $(t,x)\in \mathbb{R}^N\times \mathbb{R}^n$ satisfying $γ_0(x)\equiv x$, $K(t)$ is a "multi-parameter singular kernel" supported near $t=0$, and $ψ$ is a cutoff function supported near $x=0$. This note concerns the case when $K$ is a "product kernel". The goal is to give conditions on $γ$ such that the above operator is bounded on $L^p$ for $1<p<\infty$. Associated maximal functions are also discussed. The "single-parameter" case when $K$ is a Calderón-Zygmund kernel was studied by Christ, Nagel, Stein, and Wainger. The theory here extends these results to the multi-parameter context and also deals effectively with the case when $γ$ is real-analytic.

Multi-parameter singular Radon transforms III: real analytic surfaces

The goal of this paper is to study operators of the form, \[ Tf(x)= ψ(x)\int f(γ_t(x))K(t)\: dt, \] where $γ$ is a real analytic function defined on a neighborhood of the origin in $(t,x)\in \R^N\times \R^n$, satisfying $γ_0(x)\equiv x$, $ψ$ is a cutoff function supported near $0\in \R^n$, and $K$ is a "multi-parameter singular kernel" supported near $0\in \R^N$. A main example is when $K$ is a "product kernel." We also study maximal operators of the form, \[ \mathcal{M} f(x) = ψ(x)\sup_{0<δ_1,..., δ_N<<1} \int_{|t|<1} |f(γ_{δ_1 t_1,...,δ_N t_N}(x))|\: dt. \] We show that $\mathcal{M}$ is bounded on $L^p$ ($1<p\leq \infty$). We give conditions on $γ$ under which $T$ is bounded on $L^p$ ($1<p<\infty$); these conditions hold automatically when $K$ is a Calderón-Zygmund kernel. This is the final paper in a three part series. The first two papers consider the more general case when $γ$ is $C^\infty$.

Singular and maximal Radon transforms: Analysis and geometry

The purpose of this paper is to prove the L^p boundedness of singular Radon transforms and their maximal analogues. These operators differ from the traditional singular integrals and maximal functions in that their definition at any point x in R^n involves integration over a k-dimensional submanifold of R^n, depending on x, with k < n. The role of the underlying geometric data which determines the submanifolds and how they depend on x, makes the analysis of these operators quite different from their standard analogues. In fact, much of our work is involved in the examination of the resulting geometric situation, and the elucidation of an attached notion of curvature (a kind of ``finite-type'' condition) which is crucial for our analysis.
