Peculiarity of the $^{12}$C$(0^+)$ and $^{12}$C$(2^+)$ energy spectrum in a 3$α$ model

Lowest energy spectrum of the $^{12}$C nucleus is analyzed in the 3$α$ cluster model with a deep $αα$-potential of Buck, Friedrich and Wheatley with Pauli forbidden states in the $S$ and $D$ waves. The direct orthogonalization method is applied for the elimination of the 3$α$-Pauli forbidden states. The effects of possible first order quantum phase transition are shown in the lowest $^{12}$C($0_1^+)$ and $^{12}$C($2_1^+)$ states from weakly bound phase to a deep phase. The ground and lowest $2^+$ states of the $^{12}$C nucleus in the deep phase are created by the critical eigen states of the Pauli projector for the $0^+$ and $2^+$ three-alpha functional spaces, respectively.

Astrophysical $S$-factor of the direct $α(d,γ)^6$Li capture reaction in a three-body model

At the long-wavelength approximation, electric dipole transitions are forbidden between isospin-zero states. In an $α+n+p$ model with $T = 1$ contributions, the $α(d,γ)^6$Li astrophysical $S$-factor is in agreement with the experimental data of the LUNA collaboration, without adjustable parameter. The exact-masses prescription used to avoid the disappearance of $E1$ transitions in potential models is not founded at the microscopic level.

Comparative study of the direct $α+d$ $\rightarrow$ $^6$Li + $γ$ astrophysical capture reaction in few-body models

A comparative analysis of the astrophysical S factor and the reaction rate for the direct $ α(d,γ)^{6}{\rm Li}$ capture reaction, and the primordial abundance of the $^6$Li element, resulting from two-body, three-body and combined cluster models is presented. It is shown that the two-body model, based on the exact-mass prescription, can not correctly describe the dependence of the isospin-forbidden E1 S factor on energy and does not reproduce the temperature dependence of the reaction rate from the direct LUNA data. It is demonstrated that the isospin-forbidden E1 astrophysical S factor is very sensitive to the orthogonalization procedure of Pauli-forbidden states within the three-body model. On the other hand, the E2 S factor does not depend on the orthogonalization method. This insures that the orthogonolizing pseudopotentials method yields a very good description of the LUNA collaboration's low-energy direct data. At the same time, the SUSY transformation significantly underestimates the data from the LUNA collaboration. On the other hand, the energy dependence of the E1 S factor are the same in both methods. The best description of the LUNA data for the astrophysical S factor and the reaction rates is obtained within the combined E1(three-body OPP)+E2(two-body) model. It yields a value of $(0.72 \pm 0.01) \times 10^{-14}$ for the $^6$Li/H primordial abundance ratio, consistent with the estimation $(0.80 \pm 0.18) \times 10^{-14}$ of the LUNA collaboration. For the $^6{\rm Li}/^7{\rm Li}$ abundance ratio an estimation $(1.40\pm 0.12)\times 10^{-5}$ is obtained in good agreement with the Standard Model prediction.

Theoretical study of the $α+d$ $\rightarrow$ $^6$Li + $γ$ astrophysical capture process in a three-body model

The astrophysical capture process $α+d$ $\rightarrow$ $^6$Li + $γ$ is studied in a three-body model. The initial state is factorized into the deuteron bound state and the $α+d$ scattering state. The final nucleus $^6$Li(1+) is described as a three-body bound state $α+n+p$ in the hyperspherical Lagrange-mesh method. The contribution of the E1 transition operator from the initial isosinglet states to the isotriplet components of the final state is estimated to be negligible. An estimation of the forbidden E1 transition to the isosinglet components of the final state is comparable with the corresponding results of the two-body model. However, the contribution of the E2 transition operator is found to be much smaller than the corresponding estimations of the two-body model. The three-body model perfectly matches the new experimental data of the LUNA collaboration with the spectroscopic factor 2.586 estimated from the bound-state wave functions of $^6$Li and deuteron.

Spectrum of the excited $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ baryons in a relativistic chiral quark model

The spectrum of the SU(2) flavor baryons is studied in the frame of a relativistic chiral quark potential model based on the one-pion and one-gluon exchange mechanisms. It is argued that the N* and Delta* resonances strongly coupled to the pi-N channel are identified with the orbital configurations $(1S_{1/2})^2(nlj)$ with a single valence quark in the excited state (nlj). With the obtained selection rules based on the "chiral constraint", we show that it is possible to construct a schematic periodic table of baryon resonances, consistent with the experimental data and yielding no "missing resonances". A new original method for the treatment of the center of mass problem is suggested, which is based on the separation of the three-quark Dirac Hamiltonian into the parts, corresponding to the Jacobi coordinates. The numerical estimations for the energy positions of the Nucleon and Delta baryons (up to and including F-wave resonances), obtained within the field-theoretical framework by using time ordered perturbation theory, yield an overall good description of the experimental data at the level of the relativized CQM of S. Capstick and W. Roberts without any fitting parameters. The Delta(1232) is well reproduced. However, N g. s. and most of the radially excited baryon resonances (including Roper) are overestimated. Contrary, the first band of the orbitally excited baryon resonances with a negative parity are underestimated. At the same time, the second band of the orbitally excited Delta* states with the negative parity are mostly overestimated, while the N* states are close to the experimental boxes. The positive parity baryon resonances with J=5/2, 7/2 are close to the experimental data. At higher energies, where the experimental data are poor, we can extend our model schematically and predict an existence of seven N* and four Delta* new states with larger spin values.

Theoretical analysis of the astrophysical S-factor for the alpha+d -->6Li + gamma capture reaction in the two body model

Theoretical estimations for the astrophysical S-factor and the d(alpha,gamma)6Li reaction rates are obtained on the base of the two-body model with the alpha-d potential of a simple Gaussian form, which describes correctly the phase-shifts in the S-, P-, and D-waves, the binding energy and the asymptotic normalization constant in the final S-state. Wave functions of the bound and continuum states are calculated by using the Numerov algorithm of a high accuracy. A good convergence of the results for the E1- and E2- components of the transition is shown when increasing the upper limit of effective integrals up to 40 fm. The obtained results for the S-factor and reaction rates in the temperature interval 10E+6 K < T < 10E+10 K are in a good agreement with the results of Ref. A.M. Mukhamedzhanov, et.al., Phys. Rev., C 83, 055805 (2011), where the authors used the known asymptotical form of wave function at low energies and a complicated potential at higher energies.

A periodic table for the excited Nucleon and Delta spectrum in a relativistic chiral quark model

A possibility of the construction of a periodic table for the excited baryon spectrum is shown in the frame of a relativistic chiral quark model based on selection rules derived from the one-pion exchange mechanism. It is shown that all the $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ resonances appearing in the $πN$ scattering data and strongly coupling to the $πN$ channel are identified with the orbital configurations $(1S_{1/2})^2(nlj)$. Baryon resonances corresponding to the orbital configuration with two valence quarks in excited states couple strongly to the $ππN$-channel, but not to the $πN$ channel. At low energy scale up to 2000 MeV, the obtained numerical estimations for the SU(2) baryon states (up to and including F-wave $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ resonances) within the schematic periodic table are mostly consistent with the experimental data. It is argued that due-to the overestimation of the ground state N(939) and Roper resonance N(1440) almost by the same amount and that the Roper resonance is a radial excitation of the N(939), the "lowering mechanism" for the both baryon states must be the same. The same mechanism is expected in the $Δ$ sector. At higher energies, where the experimental data are poor, we can extend our model schematically and predict seven new $N^*$ and four $Δ^*$ resonances with larger spin values.

A unique decay process: beta delayed emission of a proton and a neutron by the $^{11}$Li halo nucleus

The neutron-rich $^{11}$Li halo nucleus is unique among nuclei with known separation energies by its ability to emit a proton and a neutron in a $β$ decay process. The branching ratio towards this rare decay mode is evaluated within a three-body model for the initial bound state and with Coulomb three-body final scattering states. The branching ratio should be comprised between two extreme cases, i.e.\ a lower bound $6 \times 10^{-12}$ obtained with a pure Coulomb wave and an upper bound $5 \times 10^{-10}$ obtained with a plane wave. A simple model with modified Coulomb waves provides plausible values between between $0.8 \times 10^{-10}$ and $2.2 \times 10^{-10}$ with most probable total energies of the proton and neutron between 0.15 and 0.3 MeV.

Beta delayed emission of a proton by a one-neutron halo nucleus

Some one-neutron halo nuclei can emit a proton in a beta decay of the halo neutron. The branching ratio towards this rare decay mode is calculated within a two-body potential model of the initial core+neutron bound state and final core+proton scattering states. The decay probability per second is evaluated for the $^{11}$Be, $^{19}$C and $^{31}$Ne one-neutron halo nuclei. It is very sensitive to the neutron separation energy.

Convergence of the self-energy in a relativistic chiral quark model: excited Nucleon and $Δ$ sector

A convergence of the valence quark self-energies in the 1S, 2S, $1P_{1/2}$, $1P_{3/2}$ orbits induced by pion and gluon field configurations, is shown in the frame of a relativistic chiral quark model. It is shown that in order to reach a convergence, one needs to include contribution of the intermediate quark and anti-quark states with the total momentum up to $j=25/2$. It is argued that a restriction to the lowest mode when estimating the self-energy is not good approximation.

Electromagnetic and weak processes with light halo nuclei

The beta-decay of the 6He halo nucleus and the M1-transition processes of the excited 6Li(0+) state into the alpha + d continuum are studied in a three-body model. The initial nuclear states are described as an alpha + 2N system in hyperspherical coordinates on a Lagrange mesh. The energy dependence and absolute values of the beta-transition probability per time and energy units of a recent experiment can be reproduced very well with an appropriate alpha + d potential. A total transition probability of 2.04E-6 s^(-1) is obtained in agreement with the experiment. Due to a strong cancellation of the internal and halo components of the matrix elements, halo effects are shown to be very important. For the M1 transition process the halo structure of the excited 6Li(0+) isobaric analog state is confirmed. The cancellation effects, however, are not so strong. The transition probability is strongly sensitive to the description of the alpha + d phase shifts. Charge symmetry is analyzed through a comparison of the two processes. The present branching ratio Gamma(0^+ --> alpha + d)/Gamma(0^+ --> 1+) is of the order 1.0E-4, and is expected to be observable in current experiments.

Analysis of the $^6$He $β$ decay into the $α+d$ continuum within a three-body model

The beta-decay process of the $^6$He halo nucleus into the alpha+d continuum is studied in a three-body model. The $^6$He nucleus is described as an alpha+n+n system in hyperspherical coordinates on a Lagrange mesh. The convergence of the Gamow-Teller matrix element requires the knowledge of wave functions up to about 30 fm and of hypermomentum components up to K=24. The shape and absolute values of the transition probability per time and energy units of a recent experiment can be reproduced very well with an appropriate alpha+d potential. A total transition probability of 1.6E-6 s$^{-1}$ is obtained in agreement with that experiment. Halo effects are shown to be very important because of a strong cancellation between the internal and halo components of the matrix element, as observed in previous studies. The forbidden bound state in the alpha+d potential is found essential to reproduce the order of magnitude of the data. Comments are made on R-matrix fits.
