Interpretable Reinforcement Learning with Multilevel Subgoal Discovery

We propose a novel Reinforcement Learning model for discrete environments, which is inherently interpretable and supports the discovery of deep subgoal hierarchies. In the model, an agent learns information about environment in the form of probabilistic rules, while policies for (sub)goals are learned as combinations thereof. No reward function is required for learning; an agent only needs to be given a primary goal to achieve. Subgoals of a goal G from the hierarchy are computed as descriptions of states, which if previously achieved increase the total efficiency of the available policies for G. These state descriptions are introduced as new sensor predicates into the rule language of the agent, which allows for sensing important intermediate states and for updating environment rules and policies accordingly.

On Termination of Transactions over Semantic Document Models

We consider the framework of Document Modeling, which lays the formal basis for representing the document lifecycle in Business Process Management systems. We formulate document models in the scope of the logic-based Semantic Modeling language and study the question whether transactions given by a document model terminate on any input. We show that in general this problem is undecidable and formulate sufficient conditions, which guarantee decidability and polynomial boundedness of effects of transactions.

The Expressiveness of Looping Terms in the Semantic Programming

We consider the language of $Δ_0$-formulas with list terms interpreted over hereditarily finite list superstructures. We study the complexity of reasoning in extensions of the language of $Δ_0$-formulas with non-standard list terms, which represent bounded list search, bounded iteration, and bounded recursion. We prove a number of results on the complexity of model checking and satisfiability for these formulas. In particular, we show that the set of $Δ_0$-formulas with bounded recursive terms true in a given list superstructure $HW(\mathcal{M})$ is non-elementary (it contains the class kEXPTIME, for all $k\geqslant 1$). For $Δ_0$-formulas with restrictions on the usage of iterative and recursive terms, we show lower complexity.
