Decreasing subsequences and Viennot for oscillating tableaux

We establish an extension of Viennot's geometric (shadow line) construction to the setting of oscillating tableaux. We then use this to give a new proof of the Type $C$ analogue of Schensted's theorem on longest decreasing subsequences. This pairs with our results from arXiv:2103.14997v1 [math.RT] on Type $C$ webs to give a direct proof of a result of Sundaram and Stanley: that the dimension of the space of invariant vectors in a $2k$-fold tensor product of the vector representation of $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}$ equals the number of $(n+1)$-avoiding matchings of $2k$ points.

On webs in quantum type $C$

We study webs in quantum type $C$, focusing on the rank three case. We define a linear pivotal category $\mathbf{Web}(\mathfrak{sp}_6)$ diagrammatically by generators and relations, and conjecture that it is equivalent to the category $\mathbf{FundRep}(U_q(\mathfrak{sp}_6))$ of quantum $\mathfrak{sp}_6$ representations generated by the fundamental representations, for generic values of the parameter $q$. We prove a number of results in support of this conjecture, most notably that there is a full, essentially surjective functor $\mathbf{Web}(\mathfrak{sp}_6) \rightarrow \mathbf{FundRep}(U_q(\mathfrak{sp}_6))$, that all $\mathrm{Hom}$-spaces in $\mathbf{Web}(\mathfrak{sp}_6)$ are finite-dimensional, and that the endomorphism algebra of the monoidal unit in $\mathbf{Web}(\mathfrak{sp}_6)$ is $1$-dimensional. The latter corresponds to the statement that all closed webs can be evaluated to scalars using local relations; as such, we obtain a new approach to the quantum $\mathfrak{sp}_6$ link invariants, akin to the Kauffman bracket description of the Jones polynomial.

Sutured annular Khovanov-Rozansky homology

We introduce an sl(n) homology theory for knots and links in the thickened annulus. To do so, we first give a fresh perspective on sutured annular Khovanov homology, showing that its definition follows naturally from trace decategorifications of enhanced sl(2) foams and categorified quantum gl(m), via classical skew Howe duality. This framework then extends to give our annular sl(n) link homology theory, which we call sutured annular Khovanov-Rozansky homology. We show that the sl(n) sutured annular Khovanov-Rozansky homology of an annular link carries an action of the Lie algebra sl(n), which in the n=2 case recovers a result of Grigsby-Licata-Wehrli.

A Categorification of Quantum sl_3 Projectors and the sl_3 Reshetikhin-Turaev Invariant of Tangles

We construct a categorification of the quantum sl_3 projectors, the sl_3 analog of the Jones-Wenzl projectors, as the stable limit of the complexes assigned to k-twist torus braids (as k goes to infinity) in a suitably shifted version of Morrison and Nieh's geometric formulation of sl_3 link homology (math.GT/0612754). We use these projectors to give a categorification of the sl_3 Reshetikhin-Turaev invariant of framed tangles.

The $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ foam 2-category: a combinatorial formulation of Khovanov-Rozansky homology via categorical skew Howe duality

We give a purely combinatorial construction of colored $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ link homology. The invariant takes values in a 2-category where 2-morphisms are given by foams, singular cobordisms between $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ webs; applying a (TQFT-like) representable functor recovers (colored) Khovanov-Rozansky homology. Novel features of the theory include the introduction of `enhanced' foam facets which fix sign issues associated with the original matrix factorization formulation and the use of skew Howe duality to show that (enhanced) closed foams can be evaluated in a completely combinatorial manner. The latter answers a question posed in math.GT/0708.2228.

Khovanov homology is a skew Howe 2-representation of categorified quantum sl(m)

We show that Khovanov homology (and its sl(3) variant) can be understood in the context of higher representation theory. Specifically, we show that the combinatorially defined foam constructions of these theories arise as a family of 2-representations of categorified quantum sl(m) via categorical skew Howe duality. Utilizing Cautis-Rozansky categorified clasps we also obtain a unified construction of foam-based categorifications of Jones-Wenzl projectors and their sl(3) analogs purely from the higher representation theory of categorified quantum groups. In the sl(2) case, this work reveals the importance of a modified class of foams introduced by Christian Blanchet which in turn suggest a similar modified version of the sl(3) foam category introduced here.
