Persistence and Stability of the $\mathbb{A}_n$ Quiver

We introduce two new distances for zigzag persistence modules. The first uses Auslander-Reiten quiver theory, and the second is an extension of the classical interleaving distance. Both are defined over completely general orientations of the $\mathbb{A}_n$ quiver. We compare the first distance to the block distance introduced by M. Botnan and M. Lesnick and obtain the full set of sharp Lipschitz bounds between the two (as bottleneck distances) over pure zigzag orientations. The final portion of the paper presents sharp Lipschitz bounds necessary for the extended interleaving distance to dominate the distance that is created from the Auslander-Reiten quiver. These bounds are obtained for general orientations of the $\mathbb{A}_n$ quiver.

Universal deformation rings for extensions of finite subgoups of $Gl_2(\mathbb{C})$

In this paper we expand on previous results, studying the extent to which one can detect fusion in certain finite groups $Γ$, from information about the universal deformation rings of absolutely irreducible $\mathbb{F}_pΓ$-modules. We consider groups which are extensions of finite irreducible subgroups of $Gl_2({\mathbb{C}})$ by elementary abelian $p$-groups of rank $2$.

Universal deformation rings and fusion

Let p be a prime, M be a finite group, F be the field with p elements, and V be an absolutely irreducible FM-module. Then V has a universal deformation ring R(M,V) whose structure is closely related to the first and second cohomology groups of M with coefficients in Hom_F(V,V). We consider the case when M is an extension of a dihedral group G whose order is relatively prime to p by an elementary abelian p-group N of rank 2. We determine the cohomology groups and also R(M,V) for various V and show to what extent R(M,V) sees the fusion of N in M.
