Approximate NNLO QCD corrections to semi-inclusive DIS

We determine approximate next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) corrections to unpolarized and polarized semi-inclusive DIS. They are derived using the threshold resummation formalism, which we fully develop to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy, including the two-loop hard factor. The approximate NNLO terms are obtained by expansion of the resummed expression. They include all terms in Mellin space that are logarithmically enhanced at threshold, or that are constant. In terms of the customary SIDIS variables $x$ and $z$ they include all double distributions (that is, "plus" distributions and $δ$-functions) in the partonic variables. We also investigate corrections that are suppressed at threshold and we determine the dominant terms among these. Our numerical estimates suggest much significance of the approximate NNLO terms, along with a reduction in scale dependence.

The full set of Polarized Deep Inelastic Scattering Structure Functions at NNLO accuracy

We present the second order contributions to the coefficient functions for the parity violating polarized structure functions $g_L$ and $g_4$, thus completing the $\mathcal{O}(α_S^2)$ knowledge on DIS structure functions. We obtain the missing $\mathcal{O}(α_S^2)$ pieces from the known parity conserving unpolarized coefficient functions. We also present a phenomenological analysis for the phase space region the future Electron-Ion Collider is set to explore.

Threshold resummation at N$^{3}$LL accuracy and approximate N$^{3}$LO corrections to semi-inclusive DIS

We advance the threshold resummation formalism for semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) to next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (N$^{3}$LL) order, including the three-loop hard factor. We expand the results in the strong coupling to obtain approximate next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^{3}$LO) corrections for the SIDIS cross section. In Mellin moment space, these corrections include all terms that are logarithmically enhanced at threshold, or that are constant. We also consider a set of corrections that are suppressed near threshold. Our numerical estimates show modest changes of the cross section by the approximate N$^{3}$LO terms, suggesting a very good perturbative stability of the SIDIS process.

Towards a Global QCD Analysis of Fragmentation Functions at Next-To-Next-To-Leading Order Accuracy

We carry out a global QCD analysis of parton-to-pion fragmentation functions at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) accuracy by performing a fit to the combined set of single-inclusive electron-positron annihilation and, for the first time, semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) multiplicity data. For the latter, we utilize the approximate NNLO QCD corrections that were derived recently within the threshold resummation formalism. We explore the impact of the NNLO corrections on the description of the SIDIS data sets in various kinematic regimes and on the resulting pion fragmentation functions.

Pion Fragmentation Functions at High Energy Colliders

We revisit the description of pion production in proton-proton collisions in the light of the very precise data taken at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) over the past decade. First attempts to include LHC results in next-to-leading order global QCD analyses of parton-to-pion fragmentation functions insinuated some conflict between data sets at different center-of-mass system energies. We show that the data can be well described within their uncertainties by a consistent set of pion fragmentation functions once the theoretical scale dependence is taken into account in the global QCD analysis.

DYTurbo: Fast predictions for Drell-Yan processes

Drell-Yan lepton pair production processes are extremely important for Standard Model (SM) precision tests and for beyond the SM searches at hadron colliders. Fast and accurate predictions are essential to enable the best use of the precision measurements of these processes; they are used for parton density fits, for the extraction of fundamental parameters of the SM, and for the estimation of background processes in searches. This paper describes a new numerical program, DYTurbo, for the calculation of the QCD transverse-momentum resummation of Drell-Yan cross sections up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy combined with the fixed-order results at next-to-next-to-leading order ($\mathcal{O}(α_{\mathrm{S}}^2)$), including the full kinematical dependence of the decaying lepton pair with the corresponding spin correlations and the finite-width effects. The DYTurbo program is an improved reimplementation of the DYqT, DYqT and DYNNLO programs, which provides fast and numerically precise predictions through the factorisation of the cross section into production and decay variables, and the usage of quadrature rules based on interpolating functions for the integration over kinematic variables.

Inclusive-jet and Di-jet Production in Polarized Deep Inelastic Scattering

We present the calculation for single-inclusive jet production in (longitudinally) polarized deep-inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering at next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) accuracy, based on the Projection-to-Born method. As a necessary ingredient to achieve the NNLO results, we also introduce the next-to-leading-order (NLO) calculation for the production of di-jets in polarized DIS. Our di-jet calculation is based on an extension of the dipole subtraction method to account for polarized initial-state partons. We analyze the phenomenological consequences of higher order QCD corrections for the Electron-Ion Collider kinematics.

Jet production in Polarized DIS at NNLO

We present the NNLO calculation for single-inclusive jet production in polarized DIS $\vec{e}\vec{p} \rightarrow {\rm jet} +X$. We perform the computation based on the Projection-to-Born method by combining our recent NLO result for di-jet production in polarized DIS along with the NNLO coefficients for the inclusive cross section. In this way, we achieve NNLO accuracy in a fully exclusive way for single-jet observables, the first time for a polarized cross section. We study the perturbative stability and phenomenological consequences of the QCD corrections for Electron Ion Collider kinematics.

Triple Higgs production at hadron colliders at NNLO in QCD

In this work we analyse the triple Higgs boson production cross section at hadron colliders via gluon fusion, and present for the first time the full set of QCD NNLO corrections in the heavy top limit. In order to account for finite top mass effects we perform two different reweighting procedures, and study the dependence of the result on the choice of the approximation. Combining the most accurate predictions available to date, we present the following result for the total NNLO cross section for triple Higgs boson production at a 100 TeV collider: $σ_\text{NNLO}=5.56^{+5\%}_{-6\%} \pm 20\%$ fb, where the first uncertainty is an estimate for higher order effects from scale variations, while the last one is an estimate for the missing finite top mass effects.

Electroweak boson production at large transverse momentum in double polarized $pp$ scattering at next-to-leading order accuracy

We compute the next-to-leading order corrections to the cross section for the production of electroweak gauge bosons ($Z$, $W^\pm$ and $γ^*$) with large transverse momentum in double (longitudinally) polarized hadronic collisions. The calculation is fully performed in the HVBM scheme within dimensional regularization with a careful treatment of issues arising due to the appearance of $γ^5$ in polarization projectors and axial couplings. We study the phenomenological consequences of the NLO corrections at the level of both the double polarized cross section and the corresponding asymmetries at RHIC kinematics.

Differential Higgs Boson Pair Production at Next-to-Next-to-Leading Order in QCD

We report on the first fully differential calculation for double Higgs boson production through gluon fusion in hadron collisions up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD perturbation theory. The calculation is performed in the heavy-top limit of the Standard Model, and in the phenomenological results we focus on pp collisions at 14 TeV. We present differential distributions through NNLO for various observables including the transverse-momentum and rapidity distributions of the two Higgs bosons. NNLO corrections are at the level of 10%-25% with respect to the next-to-leading order (NLO) prediction with a residual scale uncertainty of 5%-15% and an overall mild phase-space dependence. Only at NNLO the perturbative expansion starts to converge yielding overlapping scale uncertainty bands between NNLO and NLO in most of the phase-space. The calculation includes NLO predictions for pp -> HH+jet+X. Corrections to the corresponding distributions exceed 50% with a residual scale dependence of 20%-30%.

Diphoton production at hadron colliders: a fully-differential QCD calculation at NNLO

We consider direct diphoton production in hadron collisions, and we compute the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD radiative corrections at the fully-differential level. Our calculation uses the $q_T$ subtraction formalism and it is implemented in a parton level Monte Carlo program. The program allows the user to apply arbitrary kinematical cuts on the final-state photons and the associated jet activity, and to compute the corresponding distributions in the form of bin histograms. We present selected numerical results related to Higgs boson searches at the LHC and corresponding results at the Tevatron.

Mixed QCD-QED corrections to DGLAP equations

We study the mixed effect of QCD and QED corrections to the evolution of parton distribution functions (PDFs). The Altarelli-Parisi splitting functions are extended to one order higher in QED, reaching ${\cal O}(α\, α_S^2)$ accuracy. This also involves extending DGLAP equations to include charge separation effects, that are ignored for pure QCD corrections. Besides that, these effects are crucial for the determination of the photon distribution, which plays an increasingly important role in nowadays phenomenological analysis.

Diphoton production at hadron colliders: transverse-momentum resummation at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy

We consider the transverse-momentum (qT) distribution of a diphoton pair produced in hadron collisions. At small values of qT , we resum the logarithmically-enhanced perturbative QCD contributions up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. At intermediate and large values of qT, we consistently combine resummation with the known next-to-leading order perturbative result. All perturbative terms up to order α_S^2 are included in our computation which, after integration over qT, reproduces the known next-to-next-to-leading order result for the diphoton pair production total cross section. We present a comparison with LHC data and an estimate of the perturbative accuracy of the theoretical calculation by performing the corresponding variation of scales. In general we observe that the effect of the resummation is not only to recover the predictivity of the calculation at small transverse momentum, but also to improve substantially the agreement with the experimental data.

Higgs pair production at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy at the LHC

We perform the threshold resummation for Higgs pair production in the dominant gluon fusion channel to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy. The calculation includes the matching to the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) cross section obtained in the heavy top-quark limit, and results in an increase of the inclusive cross section up to 7% at the LHC with centre-of-mass energy Ecm=14TeV, for the choice of factorization and renormalization scales $μ_F=μ_R=Q$, being Q the invariant mass of the Higgs pair system. After the resummation is implemented, we estimate the theoretical uncertainty from the perturbative expansion to be reduced to about +-5.5%, plus ~10% from finite top-mass effects. The resummed cross section turns out to be rather independent of the value chosen for the central factorization and renormalization scales in the usual range (Q/2,Q).

Higher-order QCD corrections to triple collinear splitting functions

We present splitting functions in the triple collinear limit at next-to-leading order in the strong coupling. We performed the computation in the context of massless QCD+QED, and consider first collinear processes which include at least one photon. The IR divergent structure of the multi-partonic splitting functions agrees with the Catani's formula. Consistency checks based on symmetry arguments have been implemented and results for different configurations have been cross-checked. Studying photon-started processes, we obtained very compact results: this allowed us to simplify the expressions for the remaining splitting functions.

Polarized triple-collinear splitting functions at NLO for processes with photons

We compute the polarized splitting functions in the triple collinear limit at next-to-leading order accuracy (NLO) in the strong coupling $α_{\rm S}$, for the splitting processes $γ\to q \bar{q} γ$, $γ\to q \bar{q} g$ and $g \to q \bar{q} γ$. The divergent structure of each splitting function was compared to the predicted behaviour according to Catani's formula. The results obtained in this paper are compatible with the unpolarized splitting functions computed in a previous article. Explicit results for NLO corrections are presented in the context of conventional dimensional regularization (CDR).

Vector boson production at hadron colliders: transverse-momentum resummation and leptonic decay

We consider the transverse-momentum ($q_T$) distribution of Drell-Yan lepton pairs produced, via $W$ and $Z/γ^*$ decay, in hadronic collisions. At small values of $q_T$, we resum the logarithmically-enhanced perturbative QCD contributions up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. Resummed results are consistently combined with the known ${\mathcal O}(α_S^2)$ fixed-order results at intermediate and large values of $q_T$. Our calculation includes the leptonic decay of the vector boson with the corresponding spin correlations, the finite-width effects and the full dependence on the final-state lepton(s) kinematics. The computation is encoded in the numerical program DYRes, which allows the user to apply arbitrary kinematical cuts on the final-state leptons and to compute the corresponding distributions in the form of bin histograms. We present a comparison of our results with some of the available LHC data. The inclusion of the leptonic decay in the resummed calculation requires a theoretical discussion on the $q_T$ recoil due to the transverse momentum of the produced vector boson. We present a $q_T$ recoil procedure that is directly applicable to $q_T$ resummed calculations for generic production processes of high-mass systems in hadron collisions.

Approximate next-to-next-to-leading order corrections to hadronic jet production

We determine dominant next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to single-inclusive jet production at the LHC and Tevatron, using the established threshold resummation framework. In contrast to previous literature on this topic, our study incorporates all of the following features: (1) It properly accounts for the way a jet is defined in experiment and treated in available full next-to-leading order calculations, (2) It includes the three leading classes of logarithmic terms in the perturbative expansion, and (3) It is adapted to the full kinematics in jet transverse momentum and rapidity relevant for experiments. A recent full next-to-next-to-leading order calculation in the purely gluonic channel allows us to assess the region where our approximate corrections provide an accurate description. We expect our results to be important on the way to precision jet phenomenology at the LHC and as benchmark for further full next-to-next-to-leading order calculations.

Double collinear splitting amplitudes at next-to-leading order

We compute the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the $1 \to 2$ splitting amplitudes in different dimensional regularization (DREG) schemes. Besides recovering previously known results, we explore new DREG schemes and analyze their consistency by comparing the divergent structure with the expected behavior predicted by Catani's formula. Through the introduction of scalar-gluons, we show the relation among splittings matrices computed using different schemes. Also, we extended this analysis to cover the double collinear limit of scattering amplitudes in the context of QCD+QED.

Evidence for polarization of gluons in the proton

We discuss the impact of recent high-statistics RHIC data on the determination of the gluon polarization in the proton in the context of a global QCD analysis of polarized parton distributions. We find clear evidence for a non-vanishing polarization of gluons in the region of momentum fraction and at the scales mostly probed by the data. Although information from low momentum fractions is presently lacking, this finding is suggestive of a significant contribution of gluon spin to the proton spin, thereby limiting the amount of orbital angular momentum required to balance the proton spin budget.

Next-to-Next-to-Leading Order QCD Corrections to Higgs Boson Pair Production

We present the Higgs boson pair production cross section at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD within the large top-mass approximation. Numerical results for the LHC are provided, finding an increase of O(20%) with respect to the previous order prediction and a substantial reduction in the scale dependence. We normalize our results using the full top- and bottom-mass dependence at leading order.

Quark and gluon spin-2 form factors to two-loops in QCD

We present complete two-loop radiative corrections to the graviton-quark-antiquark form factor G^* \rightarrow q \overline q and graviton-gluon-gluon form factor G^* \rightarrow g g in SU(N) gauge theory with n_f light flavours using d-dimensional regularisation to all orders in \varepsilon=d-4. This is an important ingredient to next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to hadronic scattering processes in models with large extra-dimensions where Kaluza-Klein graviton modes couple to Standard Model fields. We show that these form factors obey Sudakov integro-differential equation and the resulting cusp, collinear and soft anomalous dimensions coincide with those of electroweak vector boson and gluon form factors. We also find the universal behaviour of the infrared singularities in accordance with the proposal by Catani.

Soft-gluon Resummation for High-pT Inclusive-Hadron Production at COMPASS

We study the cross section for the photoproduction reaction gamma N -> h X in fixed-target scattering at COMPASS, where the hadron h is produced at large transverse momentum. We investigate the role played by higher-order QCD corrections to the cross section. In particular we address large logarithmic "threshold" corrections to the rapidity dependent partonic cross sections, which we resum to all orders at next-to-leading accuracy. In our comparison to the experimental data we find that the threshold contributions are large and improve the agreement between data and theoretical predictions significantly.

Triple collinear splitting functions at NLO for scattering processes with photons

We present splitting functions in the triple collinear limit at next-to-leading order. The computation was performed in the context of massless QCD+QED, considering only processes which include at least one photon. Through the comparison of the IR divergent structure of splitting amplitudes with the expected known behavior, we were able to check our results. Besides that we implemented some consistency checks based on symmetry arguments and cross-checked the results among them. Studying photon-started processes, we obtained very compact results.

A complete O(alpha_S^2) calculation of the signal-background interference for the Higgs diphoton decay channel

We present the full ${\cal O}(\as^2)$ computation of the interference effects between the Higgs diphoton signal and the continuum background at the LHC. While the main contribution to the interference originates on the $gg$ partonic subprocess, we find that the corrections from the $qg$ and $q\bar{q}$ channels amount up to 35% of it. We discuss the effect of these new subprocesses in the shift of the diphoton invariant mass peak recently reported by S. Martin in Ref.\cite{Martin:2012xc}.

A next-to-next-to-leading order calculation of soft-virtual cross sections

We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) soft and virtual QCD corrections for the partonic cross section of colourless-final state processes in hadronic collisions. The results are valid to all orders in the dimensional regularization parameter $\ep$. The dependence of the results on a particular process is given through finite contributions to the one and two-loop amplitudes. To evaluate the accuracy of the soft-virtual approximation we compare it with the full NNLO result for Drell-Yan and Higgs boson production via gluon fusion. We also provide a universal expression for the hard coefficient needed to perform threshold resummation up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy.

Higgs Boson Pair Production at Next-to-Next-to-Leading Order in QCD

We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections for Standard Model Higgs boson pair production inclusive cross section at hadron colliders within the large top-mass approximation. We provide numerical results for the LHC, finding that the corrections are large, resulting in an increase of ${\cal O}(20%)$ with respect to the next-to-leading order result at c.m. energy $\sqrt{s_H}=14\,\text{TeV}$. We observe a substantial reduction in the scale dependence, with overlap between the current and previous order prediction. All our results are normalized using the full top- and bottom-mass dependence at leading order. We also provide analytical expressions for the K factors as a function of $s_H$.

Next-to-Next-to-Leading Order QCD Corrections in Models of TeV-Scale Gravity

We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the graviton production in models of TeV-scale gravity, within the soft-virtual approximation. For the Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali (ADD) model we evaluate the contribution to the Drell-Yan cross section, and we present distributions for the di-lepton invariant mass at the LHC with a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_H}=14\text{TeV}$. We find a large $K$ factor ($K\simeq 1.8$) for large values of invariant mass, which is the region where the ADD graviton contribution dominates the cross section. The increase in the cross section with respect to the previous order result is larger than $10\%$ in the same invariant mass region. We also observe a substantial reduction in the scale uncertainty. For the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model we computed the total single graviton production cross section at the LHC. We find an increase between $10\%$ and $13\%$ with respect to the next-to-leading order prediction, depending on the model parameters. We provide an analytic expression for the NNLO $K$ factor as a function of the lightest RS graviton mass.

Two-loop virtual corrections to Higgs pair production

We present the two-loop virtual corrections to Standard Model Higgs boson pair production via gluon fusion $gg\to HH$ in the heavy top quark limit. Based on this result, we evaluate the corresponding cross section at the LHC at 14 TeV in the next-to-next-to-leading order soft-virtual approximation. We find an inclusive K-factor of about 2.4, resulting in an increase close to 23% with respect to the previous available calculation at next-to-leading order. As expected, we observe a considerable reduction in the renormalization and factorization scale dependence.

Factorization violation in the multiparton collinear limit

We present an all-order generalized factorization formula for QCD scattering amplitudes in kinematical configurations where two or more momenta of the external partons become collinear. The singular behaviour of the scattering amplitudes in the collinear limit is encoded by collinear splitting matrices. In the space-like region and beyond the tree level, the collinear splitting matrices depend also on the momenta and quantum numbers of the non-collinear partons, thus breaking strict collinear factorization. Although the factorization breaking contribution partly cancels for squared amplitudes, due to its one-loop absorptive origin, remaining effects at high perturbative orders have implications on the non-abelian structure of logarithmically-enhanced terms in perturbative calculations and on various factorization issues of mass singularities.

Global Analysis of Nuclear PDFs

We present a new global QCD analysis of nuclear parton distribution functions. In addition to the most commonly analyzed data sets for deep inelastic scattering of charged leptons off nuclei and Drell Yan di-lepton production, we include also measurements for neutrino-nuclei scattering as well as inclusive pion production in deuteron-gold collisions. The emerging picture is one of consistency, where universal nuclear modification factors for each parton flavor reproduce the main features of all data without any significant tension among the different sets.

Polarized semi-inclusive electroweak structure functions at next-to-leading-order

We present a next-to-leading order (NLO) computation of the full set of polarized and unpolarized electroweak semi-inclusive DIS (SIDIS) structure functions, whose knowledge is crucial for a precise extraction of polarized parton distributions. We focus on the phenomenology of the polarized structure functions for the kinematical conditions that could be reached in an Electron-Ion-Collider. We show that the NLO corrections are sizeable, particularly in the small-$x$ range. We test the sensitivity of these structure functions on certain quark distributions and compare it to the situation of inclusive DIS and electromagnetic SIDIS.

Space-like (vs. time-like) collinear limits in QCD: is factorization violated?

We consider the singular behaviour of QCD scattering amplitudes in kinematical configurations where two or more momenta of the external partons become collinear. At the tree level, this behaviour is known to be controlled by factorization formulae in which the singular collinear factor is universal (process independent). We show that this strict (process-independent) factorization is not valid at one-loop and higher-loop orders in the case of the collinear limit in space-like regions (e.g., collinear radiation from initial-state partons). We introduce a generalized version of all-order collinear factorization, in which the space-like singular factors retain some dependence on the momentum and colour charge of the non-collinear partons. We present explicit results on one-loop and two-loop amplitudes for both the two-parton and multiparton collinear limits. At the level of square amplitudes and, more generally, cross sections in hadron--hadron collisions, the violation of strict collinear factorization has implications on the non-abelian structure of logarithmically-enhanced terms in perturbative calculations (starting from the next-to-next-to-leading order) and on various factorization issues of mass singularities (starting from the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order).

Global Analysis of Nuclear Parton Distributions

We present a new global QCD analysis of nuclear parton distribution functions and their uncertainties. In addition to the most commonly analyzed data sets for the deep-inelastic scattering of charged leptons off nuclei and Drell-Yan di-lepton production, we include also measurements for neutrino-nucleus scattering and inclusive pion production in deuteron-gold collisions. The analysis is performed at next-to-leading order accuracy in perturbative QCD in a general mass variable flavor number scheme, adopting a current set of free nucleon parton distribution functions, defined accordingly, as reference. The emerging picture is one of consistency, where universal nuclear modification factors for each parton flavor reproduce the main features of all data without any significant tension among the different sets. We use the Hessian method to estimate the uncertainties of the obtained nuclear modification factors and examine critically their range of validity in view of the sparse kinematic coverage of the present data. We briefly present several applications of our nuclear parton densities in hard nuclear reactions at BNL-RHIC, CERN-LHC, and a future electron-ion collider.

Hadron plus photon production in polarized hadronic collisions at next-to-leading order accuracy

We compute the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the polarized (and unpolarized) cross sections for the production of a hadron accompanied by an opposite-side prompt photon. This process, being studied at RHIC, permits us to reconstruct partonic kinematics using experimentally measurable variables. We study the correlation between the reconstructed momentum fractions and the true partonic ones, which in the polarized case might allow us to reveal the spin-dependent gluon distribution with a higher precision.

Helicity Parton Distributions from Spin Asymmetries in W-Boson Production at RHIC

We present a next-to-leading order QCD calculation of the cross section and longitudinal spin asymmetry in single-inclusive charged-lepton production, pp -> l X, at RHIC, where the lepton is produced in the decay of an electroweak gauge boson. Our calculation is presented in terms of a multi-purpose Monte-Carlo integration program that may be readily used to include experimental spin asymmetry data in a global analysis of helicity parton densities. We perform a toy global analysis, studying the impact of anticipated RHIC data on our knowledge about the polarized anti-quark distributions.

Single-inclusive jet production in polarized pp collisions at RHIC to next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy

We perform the resummation of large logarithmic corrections to the partonic cross sections for single-inclusive jet production in polarized pp collisions. We reach the next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy for this observable with the corresponding matching to the next-to-leading order calculation performed in the small-cone approximation. We present numerical results for the BNL-RHIC collider at \sqrt{S}=200 GeV and 500 GeV. We find an enhancement of the spin-dependent cross section, specially at high transverse momentum for the jet, resulting in a rather small increase of the double-spin asymmetry A_LL for this process.

Seven parton amplitudes from recursion relations

We present the first calculation of two-quark and five-gluon tree amplitudes using on-shell recursion relations. These amplitudes are needed for tree level 5-jet cross-section and an essential ingredient for next-to-leading order 4-jet and next-to-next-to-leading order 3-jet production at hadronic colliders. Very compact expressions for all possible helicity configurations are provided, allowing for direct implementation in Monte-Carlo codes.

The triple collinear limit of one-loop QCD amplitudes

We consider the singular behaviour of one-loop QCD matrix elements when several external partons become simultaneously parallel. We present a new factorization formula that describes the singular collinear behaviour directly in colour space. The collinear singularities are embodied in process-independent splitting matrices that depend on the momenta, flavours, spins and colours of the collinear partons. We give the general structure of the infrared and ultraviolet divergences of the one-loop splitting matrices. We also present explicit one-loop results for the triple collinear splitting, $q \to q {\bar Q} Q$, of a quark and a quark--antiquark pair of different flavours. The one-loop triple collinear splitting is one of the ingredients that can be used to compute the evolution of parton distributions at the next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD perturbation theory.
