Complete Integrability of Cohomogeneity-one strings in $\mathbb{R}^{n,1}$ and Canonical Form of Killing Vector Algebra

The equation of motion for comohogeneity-one Nambu-Goto strings in flat space $\mathbb{R}^{n,1}$ has been investigated. We first classify possible forms of the Killing vector fields in $\mathbb{R}^{n,1}$ after appropriate action of the Poincaré group. Then, all possible forms of the Hamiltonian for the cohomogeneity-one Nambu-Goto strings are determined. It has been shown that the system always has the maximum number of functionally independent, pair-wise commuting conserved quantities, i.e. it is completely integrable. We have also determined all the possible coordinate forms of the Killing vector basis for the 2-dimensional non-commutative Lie algebra.

Note on orbit space of G membranes

The motion of test membranes on which the group $G$ of isometries of a spacetime $M$ acts has been considered in general settings. It has been shown that the configuration of Nambu-Goto membranes is described by the Nambu-Goto membranes in the quotient manifold $M/G$ with an appropriate projected metric if (i) $G$ is Abelian, (ii) $G$ is semisimple and compact, or (iii) the orthogonal distribution of the orbit of $G$ is integrable, but in general not. It has also been shown that a similar result holds when the membranes couple with scalar maps or differential form fields.

First-Quantized Theory of Expanding Universe from Field Quantization in Mini-Superspace

We propose an improved variant of the third-quantization scheme, for the spatially homogeneous and isotropic cosmological models in Einstein gravity coupled with a neutral massless scalar field. Our strategy is to specify a semi-Riemannian structure on the mini-superspace and to consider the quantum Klein-Gordon field on the mini-superspace. Then, the Hilbert space of this quantum system becomes inseparable, which causes the creation of infinite number of universes. To overcome this issue, we introduce a vector bundle structure on the Hilbert space and the connection of the vector bundle. Then, we can define a consistent unitary time evolution of the quantum universe in terms of the connection field on the vector bundle. By doing this, we are able to treat the quantum dynamics of a single-universe state. We also find an appropriate observable set constituting the CCR-algebra, and obtain the Schrödinger equation for the wave function of the single-universe state. We show that the present quantum theory correctly reproduces the classical solution to the Einstein equation.

Modular Theory for Operator Algebra in Bounded Region of Space-Time and Quantum Entanglement

We consider the quantum state seen by an observer in the diamond-shaped region, which is a globally hyperbolic open submanifold of the Minkowski space-time. It is known from the operator-algebraic argument that the vacuum state of the quantum field transforming covariantly under the conformal group looks like a thermal state on the von Neumann algebra generated by the field operators on the diamond-shaped region of the Minkowski space-time. Here, we find, in the case of the free massless Hermitian scalar field in the 2-dimensional Minkowski space-time, that such a state can in fact be identified with a certain entangled quantum state. By doing this, we obtain the thermodynamic quantities such as the Casimir energy and the von Neumann entropy of the thermal state in the diamond-shaped region, and show that the Bekenstein bound for the entropy-to-energy ratio is saturated. We further speculate on a possible information-theoretic interpretation of the entropy in terms of the probability density functions naturally determined from the Tomita-Takesaki modular flow in the diamond-shaped region.

Half period theorem of binary black holes

Merging event horizons of the binary black holes is investigated. While recent development of the numerical study of the binary black hole coalescence has shown that their apparent horizons can orbit for many periods, we study the orbital motion of the event horizon. We discuss how many periods their event horizons orbit before their coalescence. Then, we find that they soon merge into one and the black holes cannot orbit for a half period while the apparent horizons can orbit many times.

On the Topology of Black Lenses

The topological structure of the black holes in 5-dimensional space-times with a horizon diffeomorphic with the lens space has been discussed. It has been shown that such a black hole can emerge from the crease set, which is composed of the plumbings of several 2-spheres, of the event horizon. It has also been shown that such configurations are realized in the Kastor-Traschen solution of the Einstein-Maxwell system.

Rotating black holes at future colliders: Greybody factors for brane fields

We study theoretical aspects of the rotating black hole production and evaporation in the extra dimension scenarios with TeV scale gravity, within the mass range in which the higher dimensional Kerr solution provides good description. We evaluate the production cross section of black holes taking their angular momenta into account. We find that it becomes larger than the Schwarzschild radius squared, which is conventionally utilized in literature, and our result nicely agrees with the recent numerical study by Yoshino and Nambu within a few percent error for higher dimensional case. In the same approximation to obtain the above result, we find that the production cross section becomes larger for the black hole with larger angular momentum. Second, we derive the generalized Teukolsky equation for spin 0, 1/2 and 1 brane fields in the higher dimensional Kerr geometry and explicitly show that it is separable in any dimensions. For five-dimensional (Randall-Sundrum) black hole, we obtain analytic formulae for the greybody factors in low frequency expansion and we present the power spectra of the Hawking radiation as well as their angular dependence. Phenomenological implications of our result are briefly sketched.

Uniqueness and non-uniqueness of static black holes in higher dimensions

We prove a uniqueness theorem for asymptotically flat static charged dilaton black hole solutions in higher dimensional space-times. We also construct infinitely many non-asymptotically flat regular static black holes on the same space-time manifold with the same spherical topology. An application to the uniqueness of a certain class of flat $p$-branes is also given.

Brane-World and Holography

We consider the brane-world in the holographic point of view. Bearing the realistic models in mind, the bulk massless scalar field is introduced. First of all, we find the constraint on the coupling of the scalar fields with the matter(not holographic CFT) on the brane. We show that the traceless part of the energy-momentum tensor of holographic CFT is a part of the bulk Weyl tensor. The trace part which comes from the trace-anomaly is corresponding to the $ρ^2$-term appeared in the generalized FRW equation in the brane-world.

Gravitational energy, dS/CFT correspondence and cosmic no-hair

The gravitational energy is examined in asymptotically de Sitter space-times. The positivity will be shown for certain cases. The de Sitter/CFT(dS/CFT) correspondence recently proposed and cosmic no-hair conjecture are testified in the aspect of the gravitational energy. From the holographic renormalization group point of view, the two conjectures are deeply connected with each other.

Stability of $AdS_p x S^n x S^{q-n}$ Compactifications

We examine the stability of ${\rm AdS}_p \times {\rm S}^n \times {\rm S}^{q-n}$. The initial data constructed by De Wolfe et al \cite{Gary} has been carefully analyised and we have confirmed that there is no lower bound for the total mass for $q< 9$. The effective action on ${\rm AdS}_p$ has been derived for dilatonic compactification of the system to describe the non-linear fluctuation of the background space-time. The stability is discussed applying the positive energy theorem to the effective theory on AdS, which again shows the stability for $q \geq 9$.
