Rate of convergence for singular perturbations of Hamilton-Jacobi equations in unbounded spaces

We prove rate of convergence results for singular perturbations of Hamilton-Jacobi equations in unbounded spaces where the fast operator is linear, uniformly elliptic and has an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck-type drift. The slow operator is a fully nonlinear elliptic operator while the source term is assumed only locally Hölder continuous in both fast and slow variables. We obtain several rates of convergence according on the regularity of the source term.

First order Mean Field Games in the Heisenberg group: periodic and non periodic case

In this paper we study evolutive first order Mean Field Games in the Heisenberg group~$\He^1$; each agent can move only along "horizontal" trajectories which are given in terms of the vector fields generating~$\He^1$ and the kinetic part of the cost depends only on the horizontal velocity. The Hamiltonian is not coercive in the gradient term and the coefficients of the first order term in the continuity equation may have a quadratic growth at infinity.The main results of this paper are two: the former is to establish the existence of a weak solution to the Mean Field Game system while the latter is to represent this solution following the Lagrangian formulation of the Mean Field Games.We shall tackle both the Heisenberg-periodic and the non periodic case following two different approaches. To get these results, we prove some properties which have their own interest: uniqueness results for a second order Fokker-Planck equation and a probabilistic representation of the solution to the continuity equation.\end{abstract}

Non coercive unbounded first order Mean Field Games: the Heisenberg example

In this paper we study evolutive first order Mean Field Games in the Heisenberg group; each agent can move in the whole space but it has to follow "horizontal" trajectories which are given in terms of the vector fields generating the group and the kinetic part of the cost depends only on the horizontal velocity. The Hamiltonian is not coercive in the gradient term and the coefficients of the first order term in the continuity equation may have a quadratic growth at infinity. The main results of this paper are two: the former is to establish the existence of a weak solution to the Mean Field Game systems while the latter is to represent this solution following the Lagrangian formulation of the Mean Field Games. We also provide some generalizations to Heisenberg-type structures.

Picard groups for some blocks with TI defect groups

We calculate the Picard groups for principal blocks $B$ with TI defect groups and cyclic inertial quotient. The methods used generalize results on self stable equivalences and take advantage of the existence of equivalences given by Green correspondence in this setting. In particular, we show that $\text{Pic}(B)=\mathcal{E}(B)$, giving more evidence for a conjecture on basic auto-Morita equivalences.

Deterministic mean field games with control on the acceleration

In the present work, we study deterministic mean field games (MFGs) with finite time horizon in which the dynamics of a generic agent is controlled by the acceleration. They are described by a system of PDEs coupling a continuity equation for the density of the distribution of states (forward in time) and a Hamilton-Jacobi (HJ) equation for the optimal value of a representative agent (backward in time). The state variable is the pair $(x, v)\in R^N\times R^N$ where x stands for the position and v stands for the velocity. The dynamics is often referred to as the double integrator. In this case, the Hamiltonian of the system is neither strictly convex nor coercive, hence the available results on MFGs cannot be applied. Moreover, we will assume that the Hamiltonian is unbounded w.r.t. the velocity variable v. We prove the existence of a weak solution of the MFG system via a vanishing viscosity method and we characterize the distribution of states as the image of the initial distribution by the flow associated with the optimal control.

The ergodic problem for some subelliptic operators with unbounded coefficients

We study existence and uniqueness of the invariant measure for a stochastic process with degenerate diffusion, whose infinitesimal generator is a linear subelliptic operator in the whole space R N with coefficients that may be unbounded. Such a measure together with a Liouville-type theorem will play a crucial role in two applications: the ergodic problem studied through stationary problems with vanishing discount and the long time behavior of the solution to a parabolic Cauchy problem. In both cases, the constants will be characterized in terms of the invariant measure.

Stationary Mean Field Games systems defined on networks

We consider a stationary Mean Field Games system defined on a network. In this framework, the transition conditions at the vertices play a crucial role: the ones here considered are based on the optimal control interpretation of the problem. We prove separately the well-posedness for each of the two equations composing the system. Finally, we prove existence and uniqueness of the solution of the Mean Field Games system.

A model problem for Mean Field Games on networks

In [14], Gueant, Lasry and Lions considered the model problem ``What time does meeting start?'' as a prototype for a general class of optimization problems with a continuum of players, called Mean Field Games problems. In this paper we consider a similar model, but with the dynamics of the agents defined on a network. We discuss appropriate transition conditions at the vertices which give a well posed problem and we present some numerical results.

Eikonal equations on the Sierpinski gasket

We study the eikonal equation on the Sierpinski gasket in the spirit of the construction of the Laplacian in Kigami [8]: we consider graph eikonal equations on the prefractals and we show that the solutions of these problems converge to a function defined on the fractal set. We characterize this limit function as the unique metric viscosity solution to the eikonal equation on the Sierpinski gasket according to the definition introduced in [3].

Continuous dependence estimates for the ergodic problem of Bellman equation with an application to the rate of convergence for the homogenization problem

This paper is devoted to establish continuous dependence estimates for the ergodic problem for Bellman operators (namely, estimates of (v_1-v_2) where v_1 and v_2 solve two equations with different coefficients). We shall obtain an estimate of ||v_1-v_2||_\infty with an explicit dependence on the L^\infty-distance between the coefficients and an explicit characterization of the constants and also, under some regularity conditions, an estimate of ||v_1-v_2||_{C^2(\R^n)}. Afterwards, the former result will be crucial in the estimate of the rate of convergence for the homogenization of Bellman equations. In some regular cases, we shall obtain the same rate of convergence established in the monographs [11,26] for regular linear problems.

Continuous dependence estimates and homogenization of quasi-monotone systems of fully nonlinear second order parabolic equations

Aim of this paper is to extend the continuous dependence estimates proved in \cite{JK1} to quasi-monotone systems of fully nonlinear second-order parabolic equations. As by-product of these estimates, we get an Hölder estimate for bounded solutions of systems and a rate of convergence estimate for the vanishing viscosity approximation. In the second part of the paper we employ similar techniques to study the periodic homogenization of quasi-monotone systems of fully nonlinear second-order uniformly parabolic equations. Finally, some examples are discussed.

The vanishing viscosity limit for Hamilton-Jacobi equations on Networks

For a Hamilton-Jacobi equation defined on a network, we introduce its vanishing viscosity approximation. The elliptic equation is given on the edges and coupled with Kirchhoff-type conditions at the transition vertices. We prove that there exists exactly one solution of this elliptic approximation and mainly that, as the viscosity vanishes, it converges to the unique solution of the original problem.

Continuous dependence estimates for large time behavior for Bellman-Isaacs equations and applications to the ergodic problem

This paper concerns continuous dependence estimates for Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman-Isaacs operators (briefly, HJBI). For the parabolic Cauchy problem, we establish such an estimate in the whole space $[0,+\infty)\times\Rn$. Moreover, under some periodicity and ellipticity assumptions, we obtain a similar estimate for the ergodic constant associated to the HJBI operator. An interesting byproduct of the latter result will be the local uniform convergence for some classes of singular perturbation problems.
