Modified weighted power variations of the Hermite process and applications to integrated volatility

We study the asymptotic behaviour of modified weighted power variations of the Hermite process of arbitrary order. By selecting suitable "good" increments and exploiting their decomposition into dominant independent components, we establish a central limit theorem for weighted $p$-variations using tools from Stein-Malliavin calculus. Our results extend previous works on modified quadratic and wavelet-based variations to general powers and to weighted settings, with explicit bounds in Wasserstein distance. We further apply these limit theorems to construct asymptotically Gaussian estimators of integrated volatility in Hermite-driven models, thereby extending fBm-based methods to non-Gaussian settings. The last part of our work contains numerical simulations which illustrate the practical performance of the proposed estimators.

Multidimensional Selberg theorem and fluctuations of the zeta zeros via Malliavin calculus

We give new contributions on the distribution of the zeros of the Riemann zeta function by using the techniques of the Malliavin calculus. In particular, we obtain the error bound in the multidimensional Selberg' s central limit theorem concerning the zeta zeros on the critical line and we discuss some consequences concerning the asymptotic behavior of the mesoscopic fluctuations of the zeta zeros.

Characterization of the convergence in total variation and extension of the Fourth Moment Theorem to invariant measures of diffusions

We give necessary and sufficient conditions to characterize the convergence in distribution of a sequence of arbitrary random variables to a probability distribution which is the invariant measure of a diffusion process. This class of target distributions includes the most known continuous probability distributions. Precisely speaking, we characterize the convergence in total variation to target distributions which are not Gaussian or Gamma distributed, in terms of the Malliavin calculus and of the coefficients of the associated diffusion process. We also prove that, among the distributions whose associated squared diffusion coefficient is a polynomial of second degree (with some restrictions on its coefficients), the only possible limits of sequences of multiple integrals are the Gaussian and the Gamma laws.

The determinant of the iterated Malliavin matrix and the density of a couple of multiple integrals

The aim of this paper is to show an estimate for the determinant of the covariance of a two-dimensional vector of multiple stochastic integrals of the same order in terms of a linear combination of the expectation of the determinant of its iterated Malliavin matrices. As an application we show that the vector is absolutely continuous if and only if its components are proportional.

The determinant of the Malliavin matrix and the determinant of the covariance matrix for multiple integrals

A well-known problem in Malliavin calculus concerns the relation between the determinant of the Malliavin matrix of a random vector and the determinant of its covariance matrix. We give an explicit relation between these two determinants for couples of random vectors of multiple integrals. In particular, if the multiple integrals are of the same order and this order is at most 4, we prove that two random variables in the same Wiener chaos either admit a joint density, either are proportional and that the result is not true for random variables in Wiener chaoses of different orders.

2D- stochastic currents over the Wiener sheet

By using stochastic calculus for two-parameter processes and chaos expansion into multiple Wiener-Itô integrals, we define a 2D-stochastic current over the Brownian sheet. This concept comes from geometric measure theory. We also study the regularity of the stochastic current with respect to the randomness variable in the Watanabe spaces and with respect to the spatial variable in the deterministic Sobolev spaces.

Multifractal random walks with fractional Brownian motion via Malliavin calculus

We introduce a Multifractal Random Walk (MRW) defined as a stochastic integral of an infinitely divisible noise with respect to a dependent fractional Brownian motion. Using the techniques of the Malliavin calculus, we study the existence of this object and its properties. We then propose a continuous time model in finance that captures the main properties observed in the empirical data, including the leverage effect. We illustrate our result by numerical simulations.

Cramér theorem for Gamma random variables

In this paper we discuss the following problem: given a random variable $Z=X+Y$ with Gamma law such that $X$ and $Y$ are independent, we want to understand if then $X$ and $Y$ {\it each} follow a Gamma law. This is related to Cramér's theorem which states that if $X$ and $Y$ are independent then $Z=X+Y$ follows a Gaussian law if and only if $X$ {\it and} $Y$ follow a Gaussian law. We prove that Cramér's theorem is true in the Gamma context for random variables leaving in a Wiener chaos of fixed order but the result is not true in general. We also give an asymptotic variant of our result.

Least squares estimator for the parameter of the fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck sheet

We will study the least square estimator $\hatθ_{T,S}$ for the drift parameter $θ$ of the fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck sheet which is defined as the solution of the Langevin equation X_{t,s}= -θ\int^{t}_{0} \int^{s}_{0} X_{v,u}dvdu + B^{α, β}_{t,s}, \qquad (t,s) \in [0,T]\times [0,S] driven by the fractional Brownian sheet $B^{α,β}$ with Hurst parameters $α, β$ in $(1/2, 5/8)$. Using the properties of multiple Wiener-Itô integrals we prove that the estimator is strongly consistent for the parameter $θ$. In contrast to the one-dimensional case, the estimator $\hatθ_{T,S}$ is not asymptotically normal.

A wavelet analysis of the Rosenblatt process: chaos expansion and estimation of the self-similarity parameter

By using chaos expansion into multiple stochastic integrals, we make a wavelet analysis of two self-similar stochastic processes: the fractional Brownian motion and the Rosenblatt process. We study the asymptotic behavior of the statistic based on the wavelet coefficients of these processes. Basically, when applied to a non-Gaussian process (such as the Rosenblatt process) this statistic satisfies a non-central limit theorem even when we increase the number of vanishing moments of the wavelet function. We apply our limit theorems to construct estimators for the self-similarity index and we illustrate our results by simulations.

Asymptotic Cramér's theorem and analysis on Wiener space

We prove an asymptotic Cramér's theorem, that is, if the sequence $(X_{n}+ Y_{n})_{n\geq 1}$ converges in law to the standard normal distribution and for every $n\geq 1$ the random variables $X_{n}$ and $Y_{n}$ are independent, then $(X_{n})_{n\geq 1}$ {\it and } $(Y_{n}) _{n\geq 1}$ converge in law to a normal distribution. Then we compare this result with recent criteria for the central convergence obtained in terms of Malliavin derivatives.

Asymptotic theory for fractional regression models via Malliavin calculus

We study the asymptotic behavior as $n\to \infty$ of the sequence $$S_{n}=\sum_{i=0}^{n-1} K(n^α B^{H_{1}}_{i}) (B^{H_{2}}_{i+1}-B^{H_{2}}_{i})$$ where $B^{H_{1}}$ and $B^{H_{2}}$ are two independent fractional Brownian motions, $K$ is a kernel function and the bandwidth parameter $α$ satisfies certain hypotheses in terms of $H_{1}$ and $H_{2}$. Its limiting distribution is a mixed normal law involving the local time of the fractional Brownian motion $B^{H_{1}}$. We use the techniques of the Malliavin calculus with respect to the fractional Brownian motion.

Self-similarity parameter estimation and reproduction property for non-Gaussian Hermite processes

We consider the class of all the Hermite processes $(Z_{t}^{(q,H)})_{t\in \lbrack 0,1]}$ of order $q\in \mathbf{N}^{\ast}$ and with Hurst parameter $% H\in (\frac{1}{2},1)$. The process $Z^{(q,H)}$ is $H$-selfsimilar, it has stationary increments and it exhibits long-range dependence identical to that of fractional Brownian motion (fBm). For $q=1$, $Z^{(1,H)}$ is fBm, which is Gaussian; for $q=2$, $Z^{(2,H)}$ is the Rosenblatt process, which lives in the second Wiener chaos; for any $q>2$, $Z^{(q,H)}$ is a process in the $q$th Wiener chaos. We study the variations of $Z^{(q,H)}$ for any $q$, by using multiple Wiener -Itô stochastic integrals and Malliavin calculus. We prove a reproduction property for this class of processes in the sense that the terms appearing in the chaotic decomposition of their variations give rise to other Hermite processes of different orders and with different Hurst parameters. We apply our results to construct a strongly consistent estimator for the self-similarity parameter $H$ from discrete observations of $Z^{(q,H)}$; the asymptotics of this estimator, after appropriate normalization, are proved to be distributed like a Rosenblatt random variable (value at time $1$ of a Rosenblatt process).with self-similarity parameter $1+2(H-1)/q$.

Approximation of the finite dimensional distributions of multiple fractional integrals

We construct a family $I_{n_{\eps}}(f)_{t}$ of continuous stochastic processes that converges in the sense of finite dimensional distributions to a multiple Wiener-Itô integral $I_{n}^{H}(f1^{\otimes n}_{[0,t]})$ with respect to the fractional Brownian motion. We assume that $H>{1/2}$ and we prove our approximation result for the integrands $f$ in a rather general class.

Brownian and fractional Brownian stochastic currents via Malliavin calculus

By using Malliavin calculus and multiple Wiener-Itô integrals, we study the existence and the regularity of stochastic currents defined as Skorohod (divergence) integrals with respect to the Brownian motion and to the fractional Brownian motion. We consider also the multidimensional multiparameter case and we compare the regularity of the current as a distribution in negative Sobolev spaces with its regularity in Watanabe space.

Variations and Hurst index estimation for a Rosenblatt process using longer filters

The Rosenblatt process is a self-similar non-Gaussian process which lives in second Wiener chaos, and occurs as the limit of correlated random sequences in so-called \textquotedblleft non-central limit theorems\textquotedblright. It shares the same covariance as fractional Brownian motion. We study the asymptotic distribution of the quadratic variations of the Rosenblatt process based on long filters, including filters based on high-order finite-difference and wavelet-based schemes. We find exact formulas for the limiting distributions, which we then use to devise strongly consistent estimators of the self-similarity parameter $H$. Unlike the case of fractional Brownian motion, no matter now high the filter orders are, the estimators are never asymptotically normal, converging instead in the mean square to the observed value of the Rosenblatt process at time 1.
