Stability of trace theorems on the sphere

We prove stable versions of trace theorems on the sphere in L2L^2 with optimal constants, thus obtaining rather precise information regarding near-extremisers. We also obtain stability for the trace theorem into LqL^q for q>2q > 2, by combining a refined Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality on the sphere with a duality-stability result proved very recently by Carlen. Finally, we extend a local version of Carlen's duality theorem to establish local stability of certain Strichartz estimates for the kinetic transport equation.

A sharp bilinear estimate for the Klein-Gordon equation in arbitrary space-time dimensions

We prove a sharp bilinear inequality for the Klein-Gordon equation on $\sr^{d+1}$, for any d≥2d \geq 2. This extends work of Ozawa-Rogers and Quilodrán for the Klein-Gordon equation and generalises work of Bez-Rogers for the wave equation. As a consequence we obtain a sharp Strichartz estimate for the solution of the Klein-Gordon equation in five spatial dimensions for data belonging to H1H^1. We show that maximisers for this estimate do not exist and that any maximising sequence of initial data concentrates at spatial infinity.
