Explicit BCJ numerators of nonlinear sigma model

In this paper, we investigate the color-kinematics duality in nonlinear sigma model (NLSM). We present explicit polynomial expressions for the kinematic numerators (BCJ numerators). The calculation is done separately in two parametrization schemes of the theory using Kawai-Lewellen-Tye relation inspired technique, both lead to polynomial numerators. We summarize the calculation in each case into a set of rules that generates BCJ numerators for all multilplicities. In Cayley parametrization we find the numerator is described by a particularly simple formula solely in terms of momentum kernel.

Deformations of Yang-Mills theory

We introduce and study a new class of power-counting non-renormalisable gauge theories in four space-time dimensions. The Lagrangian is an arbitrary function of the self-dual part of the field strength. The resulting perturbation theory has the property that whenever two derivatives act on an internal line propagator, the result is a delta-function and the line collapses to a point. This means that there remains at most one derivative on each internal line, which gives improved ulta-violet behaviour. For many purposes, this class of theories behaves just like ordinary Yang-Mills theory. In particular, they all share the Yang-Mills theory MHV amplitudes. Moreover, these theories remain constructible in the sense that higher-point tree level scattering amplitudes can be obtained from the lower-point amplitudes using the BCFW recursion relations. Also, the square of these gauge-theory amplitudes gives the scattering amplitudes of "deformations" of General Relativity, at least for the low particle numbers that we checked. We compute the one-loop beta-function of the first new coupling constant, and find it to be positive, which signals the associated non-renormalisable interaction becoming important in the ulta-violet.

Dual-color decompositions at one-loop level in Yang-Mills theory

In this work, we extend the construction of dual color decomposition in Yang-Mills theory to one-loop level, i.e., we show how to write one-loop integrands in Yang-Mills theory to the dual DDM-form and the dual trace-form. In dual forms, integrands are decomposed in terms of color-ordered one-loop integrands for color scalar theory with proper dual color coefficients. In dual DDM decomposition, The dual color coefficients can be obtained directly from BCJ-form by applying Jacobi-like identities for kinematic factors. In dual trace decomposition, the dual trace factors can be obtained by imposing one-loop KK relations, reflection relation and their relation with the kinematic factors in dual DDM-form.

Note on Soft Graviton theorem by KLT Relation

Recently, new soft graviton theorem proposed by Cachazo and Strominger has inspired a lot of works. In this note, we use the KLT-formula to investigate the theorem. We have shown how the soft behavior of color ordered Yang-Mills amplitudes can be combined with KLT relation to give the soft behavior of gravity amplitudes. As a byproduct, we find two nontrivial identities of the KLT momentum kernel must hold.

BCFW Deformation and Regge Limit

BCFW deformation has served as an extremely useful tool in providing a recursive approach in studying color-ordered gauge amplitudes. This procedure has also been generalized to the study of graviton scattering. An important ingredient of this approach is the ability to identify amplitudes satisfying convergent dispersion relation when the BCFW parameter, z, is treated as a complex variable. In a modified BCFW treatment, we show in what sense the BCFW deformation in the large-z limit can be understood as the Regge limit. We also discuss how the issue of convergent dispersion integral for amplitudes involving external spins relates to the study of super-convergence relation which served as the precursor to the s-t duality relation for flat space string amplitudes.

Note on Construction of Dual-trace Factor in Yang-Mills Theory

In this note we provide a new construction of BCJ dual-trace factor using the kinematic algebra proposed in arXiv:1105.2565 and arXiv:1212.6168. Different from the construction given in arXiv:1304.2978 based on the proposal of arXiv:1103.0312, the method used in this note exploits the adjoint representation of kinematic algebra and the use of inner product in dual space. The dual-trace factor defined in this way naturally satisfies cyclic symmetry condition but not KK-relation, just like the trace of U(N) Lie algebra satisfies cyclic symmetry condition, but not KK-relation. In other words the new construction naturally leads to formulation sharing more similarities with the color decomposition of Yang-Mills amplitude.

Recurrence Relations of Higher Spin BPST Vertex Operators for Open String

We calculate higher spin BPST vertex operators for open bosonic string and express these operstors in terms of Kummer function of the second kind. We derive infinite number of recurrence relations among BPST vertex operators of different string states. These recurrence relations among BPST vertex operators lead to the recurrence relations among Regge string scattering amplitudes discovered recently.

The Construction of Dual-trace Factor in Yang-Mills Theory

Recently, a BCJ dual of the color-ordered formula for Yang-Mills amplitude was proposed, where the dual-trace factor satisfies cyclic symmetry and KK-relation. In this paper, we present a systematic construction of the dual-trace factor based on its proposed relations to kinematic numerators in dual-DDM form. We show that the construction presented respects relabeling symmetry. In addition, we show that using relabeling symmetry as conditions, the same construction can be solved independently.

An algebraic approach to BCJ numerators

One important discovery in recent years is that the total amplitude of gauge theory can be written as BCJ form where kinematic numerators satisfy Jacobi identity. Although the existence of such kinematic numerators is no doubt, the simple and explicit construction is still an important problem. As a small step, in this note we provide an algebraic approach to construct these kinematic numerators. Under our Feynman-diagram-like construction, the Jacobi identity is manifestly satisfied. The corresponding color ordered amplitudes satisfy off-shell KK-relation and off-shell BCJ relation similar to the color ordered scalar theory. Using our construction, the dual DDM form is also established.

Note on Cyclic Sum and Combination Sum of Color-ordered Gluon Amplitudes

Continuing our previous study \cite{Du:2011se} of permutation sum of color ordered tree amplitudes of gluons, in this note, we prove the large-$z$ behavior of their cyclic sum and the combination of cyclic and permutation sums under BCFW deformation. Unlike the permutation sum, the study of cyclic sum and the combination of cyclic and permutation sums is much more difficult. By using the generalized Bern-Carrasco-Johansson (BCJ) relation, we have proved the boundary behavior of cyclic sum with nonadjacent BCFW deformation. The proof of cyclic sum with adjacent BCFW deformation is a little bit simpler, where only Kleiss-Kuijf (KK) relations are needed. Finally we have presented a new observation for partial-ordered permutation sum and applied it to prove the boundary behavior of combination sum with cyclic and permutation.

BCJ Relation of Color Scalar Theory and KLT Relation of Gauge Theory

We present a field theoretical proof of the conjectured KLT relation which states that the full tree-level scattering amplitude of gluons can be written as a product of color-ordered amplitude of gluons and color-ordered amplitude of scalars with only cubic vertex. To give a proof we establish the KK relation and BCJ relation of color-ordered scalar amplitude using BCFW recursion relation with nonzero boundary contributions. As a byproduct, an off-shell version of fundamental BCJ relation is proved, which plays an important role in our work.

Generating MHV super-vertices in light-cone gauge

We constructe the $\mathcal{N}=1$ SYM lagrangian in light-cone gauge using chiral superfields instead of the standard vector superfield approach and derive the MHV lagrangian. The canonical transformations of the gauge field and gaugino fields are summarised by the transformation condition of chiral superfields. We show that $\mathcal{N}=1$ MHV super-vertices can be described by a formula similar to that of the $\mathcal{N}=4$ MHV super-amplitude. In the discussions we briefly remark on how to derive Nair's formula for $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory directly from light-cone lagrangian.

New N=4 SYM Path Integral

Using Lorentz covariant spinor helicity formalism we reorganize the unitary scalar superfield light-cone path integral for the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. In new variables in the chiral Fourier superspace the quadratic and cubic parts of the classical action have manifest Lorentz, kinematical and dynamical supersymmetry, with the exception of terms which contribute only to the contact terms in the supergraphs with propagators shrinking to a point. These terms have the same structure as supergraphs with quartic light-cone vertices, which break dynamical supersymmetry. We present evidence that all complicated terms breaking dynamical supersymmetry have to cancel and therefore can be omitted. It is plausible that the new form of the path integral leads to a set of relatively simple unitarity based rules with manifest N=4 supersymmetry.

S-Matrix Equivalence Theorem Evasion and Dimensional Regularisation with the Canonical MHV Lagrangian

We demonstrate that the canonical change of variables that yields the MHV lagrangian, also provides contributions to scattering amplitudes that evade the equivalence theorem. This `ET evasion' in particular provides the tree-level (-++) amplitude, which is non-vanishing off shell, or on shell with complex momenta or in (2,2) signature, and is missing from the MHV (aka CSW) rules. At one loop there are ET-evading diagrammatic contributions to the amplitudes with all positive helicities. We supply the necessary regularisation in order to define these contributions (and quantum MHV methods in general) by starting from the light-cone Yang-Mills lagrangian in D dimensions and making a canonical change of variables for all D-2 transverse degrees of freedom of the gauge field. In this way, we obtain dimensionally regularised three- and four-point MHV amplitudes. Returning to the one-loop (++++) amplitude, we demonstrate that its quadruple cut coincides with the known result, and show how the original light-cone Yang-Mills contributions can in fact be algebraically recovered from the ET-evading contributions. We conclude that the canonical MHV lagrangian, supplemented with the extra terms brought to correlation functions by the non-linear field transformation, provide contributions which are just a rearrangement of those from light-cone Yang-Mills and thus coincide with them both on and off shell.
