A partially overdetermined problem in domains with partial umbilical boundary in space forms

In the first part of this paper, we consider a partially overdetermined mixed boundary value problem in space forms and generalize the main result in \cite{GX} into the case of general domains with partial umbilical boundary in space forms. Precisely, we prove that a partially overdetermined problem in a domain with partial umbilical boundary admits a solution if and only if the rest part of the boundary is also part of an umbilical hypersurface. In the second part of this paper, we prove a Heintze-Karcher-Ros type inequality for embedded hypersurfaces with free boundary lying on a horosphere or an equidistant hypersurface in the hyperbolic space. As an application, we show Alexandrov type theorem for constant mean curvature hypersurfaces with free boundary in these settings.

Stability for a second type partitioning problem

In this paper, we study stability and instability problem for type-II partitioning problem. First, we make a complete classification of stable type-II stationary hypersurfaces in a ball in a space form as totally geodesic $n$-balls. Second, for general ambient spaces and convex domains, we give some topological restriction for type-II stable stationary immersed surfaces in two dimension. Third, we give a lower bound for the Morse index for type-II stationary hypersurfaces in terms of their topology.

Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities for convex hypersurfaces with free boundary in a ball

In this paper we first introduce quermassintegrals for free boundary hypersurfaces in the $(n+1)$-dimensional Euclidean unit ball. Then we solve some related isoperimetric type problems for convex free boundary hypersurfaces, which lead to new Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities. In particular, for $n=2$ we obtain a Minkowski-type inequality and for $n=3$ we obtain an optimal Willmore-type inequality. To prove these estimates, we employ a specifically designed locally constrained inverse harmonic mean curvature flow with free boundary.

An integral formula and its applications on sub-static manifolds

In this article, we first establish the main tool - an integral formula for Riemannian manifolds with multiple boundary components (or without boundary). This formula generalizes Reilly's original formula from \cite{Re2} and the recent result from \cite{QX}. It provides a robust tool for sub-static manifolds regardless of the underlying topology. Using this formula and suitable elliptic PDEs, we prove Heintze-Karcher type inequalities for bounded domains in general sub-static manifolds which recovers some of the results from Brendle \cite{Br} as special cases. On the other hand, we prove a Minkowski inequality for static convex hypersurfaces in a sub-static warped product manifold. Moreover, we obtain an almost Schur lemma for horo-convex hypersurfaces in the hyperbolic space and convex hypersurfaces in the hemi-sphere, which can be viewed as a special Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality.

Classical Neumann Problems for Hessian equations and Alexandrov-Fenchel's inequalities

Recently, the first named author together with Xinan Ma \cite{ma2015neumann}, have proved the existence of the Neumann problems for Hessian equations. In this paper, we proceed further to study classical Neumann problems for Hessian equations. We prove here the existence of classical Neumann problems under the uniformly convex domain in R^n. As an application, we use the solution of the classical Neumann problem to give a new proof of a family of Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities arising from convex geometry. This geometric application is motivated from Reilly \cite{Reilly1980}.

Harmonic functions on metric measure spaces

In this paper, we study harmonic functions on metric measure spaces with Riemannian Ricci curvature bounded from below, which were introduced by Ambrosio-Gigli-Savaré. We prove a Cheng-Yau type local gradient estimate for harmonic functions on these spaces. Furthermore, we derive various optimal dimension estimates for spaces of polynomial growth harmonic functions on metric measure spaces with nonnegative Riemannian Ricci curvature.

Structural and electronic properties of Li intercalated graphene on SiC(0001)

We investigate the structural and electronic properties of Li-intercalated monolayer graphene on SiC(0001) using combined angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and first-principles density functional theory. Li intercalates at room temperature both at the interface between the buffer layer and SiC and between the two carbon layers. The graphene is strongly $n$-doped due to charge transfer from the Li atoms and two $π$-bands are visible at the $\bar{K}$-point. After heating the sample to 300$^\circ$C, these $π$-bands become sharp and have a distinctly different dispersion to that of Bernal-stacked bilayer graphene. We suggest that the Li atoms intercalate between the two carbon layers with an ordered structure, similar to that of bulk LiC$_6$. An AA-stacking of these two layers becomes energetically favourable. The $π$-bands around the $\bar{K}$-point closely resemble the calculated band structure of a C$_6$LiC$_6$ system, where the intercalated Li atoms impose a super-potential on the graphene electronic structure that opens pseudo-gaps at the Dirac points of the two $π$-cones.

Hypersurfaces with constant curvature quotients in warped product manifolds

In this paper, we study rigidity problems for hypersurfaces with constant curvature quotients $\frac{\mathcal{H}_{2k+1}}{\mathcal{H}_{2k}}$ in the warped product manifolds. Here $\mathcal{H}_{2k}$ is the $k$-th Gauss-Bonnet curvature and $\mathcal{H}_{2k+1}$ arises from the first variation of the total integration of $\mathcal{H}_{2k}$. Hence the quotients considered here are in general different from $\frac{σ_{2k+1}}{σ_{2k}}$, where $σ_k$ are the usual mean curvatures. We prove several rigidity and Bernstein type results for compact or non-compact hypersurfaces corresponding to such quotients.

On Rigidity of hypersurfaces with constant curvature functions in warped product manifolds

In this paper, we first investigate several rigidity problems for hypersurfaces in the warped product manifolds with constant linear combinations of higher order mean curvatures as well as "weighted'' mean curvatures, which extend the work \cite{Mon, Brendle,BE} considering constant mean curvature functions. Secondly, we obtain the rigidity results for hypersurfaces in the space forms with constant linear combinations of intrinsic Gauss-Bonnet curvatures $L_k$. To achieve this, we develop some new kind of Newton-Maclaurin type inequalities on $L_k$ which may have independent interest.
