On the classification of UV completions of integrable $T \bar{T}$ deformations of CFT

It is well understood that 2d conformal field theory (CFT) deformed by an irrelevant $T\bar{T}$ perturbation of dimension $4$ has universal properties. In particular, for the most interesting cases, the theory develops a singularity in the ultra-violet (UV), signifying a shortest possible distance, with a Hagedorn transition in applications to string theory. We show that by adding an infinite number of higher $[T\bar{T}]_{s>1}$ irrelevant operators with tuned couplings, this singularity can be resolved and the theory becomes UV complete with UV central charge $c_{\rm UV}$. We propose an approach to classifying the possible UV completions that are integrable. For the Ising model with $c_{\rm IR} = \tfrac{1}{2}$ we find 3 UV completions based on a single massless Majorana fermion description with $c_{\rm UV} = \tfrac{7}{10}$ and $ \tfrac{3}{2}$, which both have ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetry and were previously known, and we argue that these are the only solutions to our classification problem based on this spectrum of particles. We find 3 additional ones with a spectrum of 8 massless particles related to the Lie group $E_8$ appropriate to a magnetic perturbation with $c_{\rm UV} = \tfrac{21}{22} , \tfrac{15}{2}$ and $\tfrac{31}{2}$. We argue that it is likely there are more cases for this $E_8$ spectrum. We also study simpler cases based on ${\rm su(3)}$ and ${\rm su(4)}$ where we can propose complete classifications. For ${\rm su(3)}$ the infra-red (IR) theory is the 3-state Potts model with $c_{\rm IR} = \tfrac{4}{5}$ and we find 3 completions with $\tfrac{4}{5} < c_{\rm UV} \leq \tfrac{16}{5}$. For the ${\rm su(4)}$ case, which has $3$ particles and $c_{\rm IR} =1$, and we find $11$ UV completions with $1 < c_{\rm UV} \leq 5$, most of which were previously unknown.

Combinatorial Solution of the Eclectic Spin Chain

The one-loop dilatation operator in the holomorphic 3-scalar sector of the dynamical fishnet theory is studied. Due to the non-unitary nature of the underlying field theory this operator, dubbed the eclectic spin chain Hamiltonian, is non-diagonalisable. The corresponding spectrum of Jordan blocks leads to logarithms in the two-point functions, which is characteristic of logarithmic conformal field theories. It was previously conjectured that for certain filling conditions and generic couplings the spectrum of the eclectic model is equivalent to the spectrum of a simpler model, the hypereclectic spin chain. We provide further evidence for this conjecture, and introduce a generating function which fully characterises the Jordan block spectrum of the simplified model. This function is found by purely combinatorial means and is simply related to the q-binomial coefficient.

The Integrable (Hyper)eclectic Spin Chain

We refine the recently introduced notion of eclectic spin chains by including a maximal number of deformation parameters. These models are integrable, nearest-neighbor n-state spin chains with exceedingly simple non-hermitian Hamiltonians. They turn out to be non-diagonalizable in the multiparticle sector (n>2), where their "spectrum" consists of an intricate collection of Jordan blocks of arbitrary size and multiplicity. We show how and why the quantum inverse scattering method, sought to be universally applicable to integrable nearest-neighbor spin chains, essentially fails to reproduce the details of this spectrum. We then provide, for n=3, detailed evidence by a variety of analytical and numerical techniques that the spectrum is not "random", but instead shows surprisingly subtle and regular patterns that moreover exhibit universality for generic deformation parameters. We also introduce a new model, the hypereclectic spin chain, where all parameters are zero except for one. Despite the extreme simplicity of its Hamiltonian, it still seems to reproduce the above "generic" spectra as a subset of an even more intricate overall spectrum. Our models are inspired by parts of the one-loop dilatation operator of a strongly twisted, double-scaled deformation of N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory.

Bethe states for the two-site Bose-Hubbard model: a binomial approach

We calculate explicitly the Bethe vectors states by the algebraic Bethe ansatz method with the $gl(2)$-invariant $R$-matrix for the two-site Bose-Hubbard model. Using a binomial expansion of the n-th power of a sum of two operators we get and solve a recursion equation. We calculate the scalar product and the norm of the Bethe vectors states. The form factors of the imbalance current operator are also computed.

A HHL 3-point correlation function in the η-deformed AdS_5 x S^5

We derive the 3-point correlation function between two giant magnons heavy string states and the light dilaton operator with zero momentum in the η-deformed AdS_5 x S^5 valid for any J_1 and ηin the semiclassical limit. We show that this result satisfies a consistency relation between the 3-point correlation function and the conformal dimension of the giant magnon. We also provide a leading finite J_1 correction explicitly.

Finite-size giant magnons on η-deformed AdS_5 x S^5

We consider strings moving in the R_t x S^3_ηsubspace of the η-deformed AdS_5 x S^5 and obtain a class of solutions depending on several parameters. They are characterized by the string energy and two angular momenta. Finite-size dyonic giant magnon belongs to this class of solutions. Further on, we restrict ourselves to the case of giant magnon with one nonzero angular momentum, and obtain the leading finite-size correction to the dispersion relation.

On the Renormalization Group Flow in Two Dimensional Superconformal Models

We extend the results on the RG flow in the next to leading order to the case of the supersymmetric minimal models SM_p for p>> 1. We explain how to compute the NS and Ramond fields conformal blocks in the leading order in 1/p and follow the renormalization scheme propsed in [1]. As a result we obtained the anomalous dimensions of certain NS and Ramond fields. It turns out that the linear combination expressing the infrared limit of these fields in term of the IR theory SM_{p-2} is exactly the same as those of the nonsupersymmetric minimal theory.

String solutions in AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4 with NS-NS B-field

We develop an approach for solving the string equations of motion and Virasoro constraints in any background which has some (unfixed) number of commuting Killing vector fields. It is based on a specific ansatz for the string embedding. We apply the above mentioned approach for strings moving inAdS_3 x S^3 x T^4 with 2-form NS-NS B-field. We succeeded to find solutions for a large class of string configurations on this background. In particular, we derive dyonic giant magnon solutions in the R_t x S^3 subspace, and obtain the leading finite-size correction to the dispersion relation.

Exact S-matrices for AdS_3/CFT_2

We propose exact $S$-matrices for the AdS_3/CFT_2 duality between Type IIB strings on AdS_3 x S^3 x M_4 with M_4=S^3 x S^1 or T^4 and the corresponding two-dimensional conformal field theories. We fix the complete two-particle S-matrices for both those cases of AdS_3/CFT_2, on the basis of the symmetries su(1|1) and su(1|1) x su(1|1), respectively preserved by their vacua. A crucial justification comes from the derivation of the all-loop Bethe ansatz matching exactly the recent conjecture proposed by [1] and [2].

Finite-size effects of beta-deformed AdS_5/CFT_4 at strong coupling

We compute both classical and quantum finite-size corrections at leading order in the strong coupling limit for the (dyonic) giant magnon in the Lunin-Maldacena background. Based on the exact S-martix conjectured for the deformed theory, we generalize the Luscher formula to include twisted boundary conditions and show that the results match with those derived both by finite-size classical solutions of the giant magnon and by algebraic curve analysis.

Worldsheet S-matrix of beta-deformed SYM

We compute perturbative worldsheet S-matrix of beta-deformed AdS/CFT in the strong and weak `t Hooft coupling limit to compare with exact S-matrix. For the purpose we take near BMN limit of TsT-transformed AdS_5 x S^5 with the twisted boundary condition and compute the S-matrix on worldsheet using light-cone gauge fixed Lagrangian. For the weak coupling side, we compute the S-matrix in the SU(3) sector by applying coordinate Bethe ansatz method to the one-loop dilatation operator obtained from the deformed super Yang-Mills theory. These analysis support the conjectured exact S-matrix in the leading order for both sides of beta-deformed AdS/CFT along with appropriate twisted boundary conditions.

From Asymptotic Safety to Dark Energy

We consider renormalization group flow applied to the cosmological dynamical equations. A consistency condition arising from energy-momentum conservation links the flow parameters to the cosmological evolution, restricting possible behaviors. Three classes of cosmological fixed points for dark energy plus a barotropic fluid are found: a dark energy dominated universe, which can be either accelerating or decelerating depending on the RG flow parameters, a barotropic dominated universe where dark energy fades away, and solutions where the gravitational and potential couplings cease to flow. If the IR fixed point coincides with the asymptotically safe UV fixed point then the dark energy pressure vanishes in the first class, while (only) in the de Sitter limit of the third class the RG cutoff scale becomes the Hubble scale.

Review of AdS/CFT Integrability, Chapter III.2: Exact world-sheet S-matrix

We review the derivation of the S-matrix for planar N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and type IIB superstring theory on an AdS5xS5 background. After deriving the S-matrix for the su(2) and su(3) sectors at the one-loop level based on coordinate Bethe ansatz, we show how su(2|2) symmetry leads to the exact asymptotic S-matrix up to an overall scalar function. We then briefly review the spectrum of bound states by relating these states to simple poles of the S-matrix. Finally, we review the derivation of the asymptotic Bethe equations, which can be used to determine the asymptotic multiparticle spectrum.

TBA, NLO Luscher correction, and double wrapping in twisted AdS/CFT

The ground-state energy of integrably-twisted theories is analyzed in finite volume. We derive the leading and next-to-leading order (NLO) Lüscher-type corrections for large volumes of the vacuum energy for integrable theories with twisted boundary conditions and twisted S-matrix. We then derive the twisted thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations to describe exactly the ground state, from which we obtain an untwisted Y-system. The two approaches are compared by expanding the TBA equations to NLO, and exact agreement is found. We give explicit results for the O(4) model and for the three-parameter family of $γ$-deformed (non-supersymmetric) planar AdS/CFT model, where the ground-state energy can be nontrivial and can acquire finite-size corrections. The NLO corrections, which correspond to double-wrapping diagrams, are explicitly evaluated for the latter model at six loops.

Three-point Correlation Function of Giant Magnons in the Lunin-Maldacena background

We compute semiclassical three-point correlation function, or structure constant, of two finite-size (dyonic) giant magnon string states and a light dilaton mode in the Lunin-Maldacena background, which is the γ-deformed, or TsT-transformed AdS_5 x S_γ^5, dual to N = 1 super Yang-Mills theory. We also prove that an important relation between the structure constant and the conformal dimension, checked for the N = 4 super Yang-Mills case, still holds for the γ-deformed string background.

Three-point Correlation functions of Giant magnons with finite size

We compute holographic three-point correlation functions or structure constants of a zero-momentum dilaton operator and two (dyonic) giant magnon string states with a finite-size length in the semiclassical approximation. We show that the semiclassical structure constants match exactly with the three-point functions between two su(2) magnon single trace operators with finite size and the Lagrangian in the large 't Hooft coupling constant limit. A special limit J>>sqrt(lambda) of our result is compared with the relevant result based on the Lüscher corrections.

Finite-size effect for four-loop Konishi of the beta-deformed N=4 SYM

We propose that certain twists of the su(2|2) S-matrix elements describe the beta-deformation of N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We compute the perturbative four-loop anomalous dimension of the Konishi operator of the deformed gauge theory from the Luscher formula based on these twisted S-matrix elements. The result agrees exactly with the perturbative gauge theory computations.

Higher Equations of Motion in N=2 Superconformal Liouville Field Theory

We present an infinite set of higher equations of motion in N=2 supersymmetric Liouville field theory. They are in one to one correspondence with the degenerate representations and are enumerated in addition to the U(1) charge ωby the positive integers m or (m,n) respectively. We check that in the classical limit these equations hold as relations among the classical fields.

Quantum finite-size effects for dyonic magnons in the AdS_4 x CP^3

We compute quantum corrections to finite-size effects for various dyonic giant magnons in the AdS_4 x CP^3 in two different approaches. The off-shell algebraic curve method is used to quantize the classical string configurations in semi-classical way and to compute the corrections to the string energies. These results are compared with the F-term Lüscher formula based on the S-matrix of the AdS_4 / CFT_3. The fact that the two results match exactly provides another stringent test for the all-loop integrability conjecture and the exact S-matrix based on it.

An alternative S-matrix for N=6 Chern-Simons theory ?

We have recently proposed an S-matrix for the planar limit of the N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons theory of Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis and Maldacena which leads to the all-loop Bethe ansatz equations conjectured by Gromov and Vieira. An unusual feature of this proposal is that the scattering of A and B particles is reflectionless. We consider here an alternative S-matrix, for which A-B scattering is not reflectionless. We argue that this S-matrix does not lead to the Bethe ansatz equations which are consistent with perturbative computations.

Cosmological Constant Behavior in DBI Theory

Cosmological constant behavior can be realized as solutions of the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action within Type IIB string theory and the AdS/CFT correspondence. We derive a family of attractor solutions to the cosmological constant that arise purely from the "relativistic" nature of the DBI action without an explicit false vacuum energy. We also find attractor solutions with values of the equation of state near but with $w\ne-1$; the forms for the potential arising from flux interactions are renormalizable and natural, and the D3-brane tension can be given by the standard throat form. We discuss present and future observational constraints on the theory.

Dark Energy Properties in DBI Theory

The Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action from string theory provides several new classes of dark energy behavior beyond quintessence due to its relativistic kinematics. We constrain parameters of natural potentials and brane tensions with cosmological observations as well as showing how to design these functions for a desired expansion history. We enlarge the attractor solutions, including new ways of obtaining cosmological constant behavior, to the case of generalized DBI theory with multiple branes. An interesting novel signature of DBI attractors is that the sound speed is driven to zero, unlike for quintessence where it is the speed of light.

Finite-size Effect of the Dyonic Giant Magnons in N=6 super Chern-Simons Theory

We consider finite-size effects for the dyonic giant magnon of the type IIA string theory on AdS_4 x CP^3 by applying Luscher mu-term formula which is derived from a recently proposed S-matrix for the N=6 super Chern-Simons theory. We compute explicitly the effect for the case of a symmetric configuration where the two external bound states, each of A and B particles, have the same momentum p and spin J_2. We compare this with the classical string theory result which we computed by reducing it to the Neumann-Rosochatius system. The two results match perfectly.

Finite-size effects of Membranes on AdS_4 x S_7

We consider semi-classical solution of membranes on the AdS_4 x S^7. This is supposed to be dual to the N=6 super Chern-Simons theory with k=1 in a planar limit recently proposed by Aharony, Bergmann, Jafferis, and Maldacena (ABJM). We have identified giant magnon and single spike states on the membrane by reducing them to the Neumamm - Rosochatius integrable system. We also connect these to the complex sine-Gordon integrable model. Based on this approach, we find finite-size membrane solutions and obtain their images in the complex sine-Gordon system along with the leading finite-size corrections to the energy-charge relations.

N=6 super Chern-Simons theory S-matrix and all-loop Bethe ansatz equations

We propose the exact S-matrix for the planar limit of the N=6 super Chern-Simons theory recently proposed by Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis, and Maldacena for the AdS_4/CFT_3 correspondence. Assuming SU(2|2) symmetry, factorizability and certain crossing-unitarity relations, we find the S-matrix including the dressing phase. We use this S-matrix to formulate the asymptotic Bethe ansatz. Our result for the Bethe-Yang equations and corresponding Bethe ansatz equations confirms the all-loop Bethe ansatz equations recently conjectured by Gromov and Vieira.

Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system for strings on AdS_4 x CP^3

We use the reduction of the string dynamics on AdS_4 x CP^3 to the Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system. All constraints can be expressed simply in terms of a few parameters. We analyze the giant magnon and single spike solutions on R_t x CP^3 with two angular momenta in detail and find the energy-charge relations. The finite-size effects of the giant magnon and single spike solutions are analyzed.

The Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebra for open strings attached to giant gravitons

We extend the Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebra for the superstring sigma model on $AdS_{5}\times S^{5}$, which was formulated by Arutyunov, Frolov and Zamaklar, to the case of open strings attached to maximal giant gravitons, which was recently considered by Hofman and Maldacena. We obtain boundary $S$-matrices which satisfy the standard boundary Yang-Baxter equation.

NLIE for hole excited states in the sine-Gordon model with two boundaries

We derive a nonlinear integral equation (NLIE) for some bulk excited states of the sine-Gordon model on a finite interval with general integrable boundary interactions, including boundary terms proportional to the first time derivative of the field. We use this NLIE to compute numerically the dimensions of these states as a function of scale, and check the UV and IR limits analytically. We also find further support for the ground-state NLIE by comparison with boundary conformal perturbation theory (BCPT), boundary truncated conformal space approach (BTCSA) and the boundary analogue of the Luscher formula.

Excited TBA Equations II: Massless Flow from Tricritical to Critical Ising Model

We consider the massless tricritical Ising model M(4,5) perturbed by the thermal operator in a cylindrical geometry and apply integrable boundary conditions, labelled by the Kac labels (r,s), that are natural off-critical perturbations of known conformal boundary conditions. We derive massless thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations for all excitations by solving, in the continuum scaling limit, the TBA functional equation satisfied by the double-row transfer matrices of the A_4 lattice model of Andrews, Baxter and Forrester (ABF) in Regime IV. The resulting TBA equations describe the massless renormalization group flow from the tricritical to critical Ising model. As in the massive case of Part I, the excitations are completely classified in terms of (m,n) systems but the string content changes by one of three mechanisms along the flow. Using generalized q-Vandemonde identities, we show that this leads to a flow from tricritical to critical Ising characters. The excited TBA equations are solved numerically to follow the continuous flows from the UV to the IR conformal fixed points.

Finite size effects in the XXZ and sine-Gordon models with two boundaries

We compute the boundary energy and the Casimir energy for both the spin-1/2 XXZ quantum spin chain and (by means of the light-cone lattice construction) the massive sine-Gordon model with both left and right boundaries. We also derive a nonlinear integral equation for the ground state of the sine-Gordon model on a finite interval. These results, which are based on a recently-proposed Bethe Ansatz solution, are for general values of the bulk coupling constant, and for both diagonal and nondiagonal boundary interactions. However, the boundary parameters are restricted to obey one complex (two real) constraints.

Exact One-Point Function of N=1 super-Liouville Theory with Boundary

In this paper, exact one-point functions of N=1 super-Liouville field theory in two-dimensional space-time with appropriate boundary conditions are presented. Exact results are derived both for the theory defined on a pseudosphere with discrete (NS) boundary conditions and for the theory with explicit boundary actions which preserves super conformal symmetries. We provide various consistency checks. We also show that these one-point functions can be related to a generalized Cardy conditions along with corresponding modular $S$-matrices. Using this result, we conjecture the dependence of the boundary two-point functions of the (NS) boundary operators on the boundary parameter.

Nonrelativistic Factorizable Scattering Theory of Multicomponent Calogero-Sutherland Model

We relate two integrable models in (1+1) dimensions, namely, multicomponent Calogero-Sutherland model with particles and antiparticles interacting via the hyperbolic potential and the nonrelativistic factorizable $S$-matrix theory with $SU(N)$-invariance. We find complete solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations without implementing the crossing symmetry, and one of them is identified with the scattering amplitudes derived from the Schrödinger equation of the Calogero-Sutherland model. This particular solution is of interest in that it cannot be obtained as a nonrelativistic limit of any known relativistic solutions of the $SU(N)$-invariant Yang-Baxter equations.

Thermodynamics of Non-Relativistic Scattering Theory

We use thermodynamic Bethe ansatz to study nonrelativistic scattering theory of low energy excitations of 1D Hubbard model, using the $S$-matrices proposed by Eßler and Korepin. This model can be described by two types of excitation states, holons and spinons, as asymptotic states. In the attractive regime, the spinon is massive while the holon is massless. The situation is reversed with a repulsive coupling. We derive that the central charge of the Hubbard model in the IR limit is $c=1$ while it vanishes in the UV limit. The contribution is due to the massless degree of freedom, i.e. the holon for the attractive regime, and the massive mode decouples completely. This result is consistent with various known results based on lattice Bethe ansatz computations. Our results make it possible to use the $S$-matrices of the excitations to compute more interesting quantities like correlation functions.

RG Flows of Non-Unitary Minimal CFTs

In this paper we study the renormalization group flow of the $(p,q)$ minimal (non-unitary) CFT perturbed by the $Φ_{1,3}$ operator with a positive coupling. In the perturbative region $q>>(q-p)$, we find a new IR fixed point which corresponds to the $(2p-q,p)$ minimal CFT. The perturbing field near the new IR fixed point is identified with the irrelevent $Φ_{3,1}$ operator. We extend this result to show that the non-diagonal ($(A,D)$-type) modular invariant partition function of the $(p,q)$ minimal CFT flows into the $(A,D)$-type partition function of the $(2p-q,p)$ minimal CFT and the diagonal partition function into the diagonal.
