Dark Information in Black Hole with $λφ$ Fluid

It has been shown that the nonthermal spectrum of Hawking radiation will lead to information-carrying correlations between emitted particles in the radiation. The mutual information carried by such correlations can not be locally observed and hence is dark. With dark information, the black hole information is conserved. In this paper, we look for the spherically symmetric black hole solution in a $λφ$ fluid model and investigate the radiation spectrum and dark information of the black hole. The spacetime structure of this black hole is similar to that of the Schwarzschild one, while its horizon radius is decreased by the $λφ$ fluid. By using the statistical mechanical method, the nonthermal radiation spectrum is calculated. This radiation spectrum is very different from the Schwarzschild case at its last stage because of the effect of the $λφ$ fluid. The $λφ$ fluid reduces the lifetime of the black hole, but increases the dark information of the Hawking radiation.

Quantifying Algebraic Asymmetry of Hamiltonian Systems

The symmetries play important roles in physical systems. We study the symmetries of a Hamiltonian system by investigating the asymmetry of the Hamiltonian with respect to certain algebras. We define the asymmetry of an operator with respect to an algebraic basis in terms of their commutators. Detailed analysis is given to the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ and its $q$-deformation. The asymmetry of the $q$-deformed integrable spin chain models is calculated. The corresponding geometrical pictures with respect to such asymmetry is presented.

Achieve Higher Efficiency at Maximum Power with Finite-time Quantum Otto Cycle

The optimization of finite-time thermodynamic heat engines was intensively explored recently, yet limited to few cycles, e.g. finite-time Carnot-like cycle. In this paper, we supplement a new type of finite-time engine with quantum Otto cycle and show the better performance. The current model can be widely utilized benefited from the general \mathcal{C}/τ^{2} scaling of extra work for finite-time adiabatic process with long control time τ. Such scaling allows analytical optimization of the generic finite-time quantum Otto cycle to surpass the efficiency at maximum power for the Carnot-like engine. We apply the current perturbation method to the quantum piston model and calculate the efficiency at maximum power, which is validated with exact solution.

Directional quantum random walk induced by coherence

Quantum walk (QW), which is considered as the quantum counterpart of the classical random walk (CRW), is actually the quantum extension of CRW from the single-coin interpretation. The sequential unitary evolution engenders correlation between different steps in QW and leads to a ballistic position distribution. In this paper, we propose an alternative quantum extension of CRW from the ensemble interpretation, named quantum random walk (QRW), where the walker has many unrelated coins, modeled as two-level systems, initially prepared in the same state. We calculate the walker's position distribution in QRW for different initial coin states with the coin operator chosen as Hadamard matrix. In one-dimensional case, the walker's position is the asymmetric binomial distribution. We further demonstrate that in QRW, coherence leads the walker to perform directional movement. For an initially decoherenced coin state, the walker's position distribution is exactly the same as that of CRW. Moreover, we study QRW in 2D lattice, where the coherence plays a more diversified role in the walker's position distribution.

Universal trapping law induced by atomic cloud in single-photon cooperative dynamics

Single-photon cooperative dynamics of an assembly of two-level quantum emitters coupled by a bosonic bath are investigated. The bosonic bath is general and it can be anything as long as the exchange of excitations between quantum emitters and bath is present. In these systems, it is found that the population on the excited emitter keeps a simple and universal trapping law due to the existence of system's dark states. Different from the trapping regime caused by photonemitter dressed states, this type of trapping is only associated with the number of quantum emitters. According to the trapping law, the cooperative spontaneous emission at single-photon level in this kind of systems is universally inhibited when the emitter number is large enough.

Generalized Ultrastrong Optomechanics

We propose a reliable scheme to realize a generalized ultrastrong optomechanical coupling in a two-mode cross-Kerr-type coupled system, where one of the bosonic modes is strongly driven. The effective optomechanical interaction takes the form of a product of the photon number operator of one mode and the quadrature operator of the other mode. The coupling strength and quadrature phase are both tunable via the driving field. The coupling strength can be strongly enhanced to reach the ultrastrong-coupling regime, where the few-photon optomechanical effects such as photon blockade and macroscopically distinct quantum superposition become accessible. The presence of tunable quadrature phase also enables the implementation of geometric quantum operations. Numerical simulations show that this method works well in a wide parameter space. We also present an analysis of the experimental implementation of this scheme.

Classical analog of Stückelberg interferometry with two coupled mechanical resonators

Coupled nanomechanical resonators have recently attracted much attention for both fundamental studies in physics and broad applications in high-precession detection or sensing. By studying the Landau-Zener transitions and Rabi oscillation of two coupled resonators, it has been shown that such a two-mode system acts as a classical two-level system bearing the analog to a quantum mechanical two-level one. Here we construct a Stückelberg interferometer with two coupled cantilevers by driving the system through the avoided crossing twice. By measuring the non-adiabatic phase acquired at the Landau-Zener transition, we unveil an in-depth analog between the two-mode and quantum two-level systems. Our study opens up new opportunities for constructing interferometers with classical devices.

Entangled Terahertz Photon Emission from Topological Insulator Quantum Dots

We propose an experimentally feasible scheme for generating entangled terahertz photon pairs in topological insulator quantum dots (TIQDs). We demonstrate theoretically that in generic TIQDs: 1) the fine structure splitting, which is the obstacle to produce entangled photons in conventional semiconductor quantum dots, is inherently absent for one-dimensional massless excitons due to the time-reversal symmetry; 2) the selection rules obey winding number conservation instead of the conventional angular momentum conservation between edge states with a linear dispersion. With these two advantages, the entanglement of the emitted photons during the cascade in our scheme is robust against unavoidable disorders and irregular shapes of the TIQDs.

Information-carrying Hawking radiation and the number of microstate for a black hole

We present a necessary and sufficient condition to falsify whether a Hawking radiation spectrum indicates unitary emission process or not from the perspective of information theory. With this condition, we show the precise values of Bekenstein-Hawking entropies for Schwarzschild black holes and Reissner-Nordström black holes can be calculated by counting the microstates of their Hawking radiations. In particular, for the extremal Reissner-Nordström black hole, its number of microstate and the corresponding entropy we obtain are found to be consistent with the string theory results. Our finding helps to refute the dispute about the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of extremal black holes in the semiclassical limit.

Photoelectric converters with quantum coherence

Photon impingement is capable of liberating electrons in electronic devices and driving the electron flux from the lower chemical potential to higher chemical potential. Previous studies hinted that the thermodynamic efficiency of a nano-sized photoelectric converter at maximum power is bounded by the Curzon-Ahlborn efficiency. In this study, we apply quantum effects to design a photoelectric converter based on a three-level quantum dot (QD) interacting with fermionic baths and photons. We show that, by adopting a pair of suitable degenerate states, quantum coherences induced by the couplings of quantum dots (QDs) to sunlight and fermion baths can coexist steadily in nano-electronic systems. Our analysis indicates that the efficiency at maximum power is no more limited to Curzon-Ahlborn efficiency through manipulation of carefully controlled quantum coherences.

Advantages of nonclassical pointer states in postselected weak measurements

We investigate, within the weak measurement theory, the advantages of non-classical pointer states over semi-classical ones for coherent, squeezed vacuum, and Schröinger cat states. These states are utilized as pointer state for the system operator $\hat{A}$ with property $\hat{A}^{2}=\hat{I}$, where $\hat{I}$ represents the identity operator. We calculate the ratio between the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of non-postselected and postselected weak measurements. The latter is used to find the quantum Fisher information for the above pointer states. The average shifts for those pointer states with arbitrary interaction strength are investigated in detail. One key result is that we find the postselected weak measurement scheme for non-classical pointer states to be superior to semi-classical ones. This can improve the precision of measurement process.

Mechanical PT symmetry in coupled optomechanical systems

We propose to realize mechanical parity-time PT symmetry in two coupled optomechanical systems. To provide gain to one mechanical resonator and the same amount of damping to the other, the two optical cavities should be driven by blue- and red-detuned laser fields, respectively. After adiabatically eliminating the degrees of freedom of the cavity modes, we derive a formula to describe the PT symmetry of two coupled mechanical resonators. Mechanical PT-symmetric phase transition is demonstrated by the dynamical behavior of the mechanical resonators. Moreover, we study the effect of the quantum noises on the dynamical behavior of the mechanical resonators when the system is in the quantum regime.

Post-selected von Neumann measurement with Hermite-Gaussian and Laguerre-Gaussian pointer states

Through the von Neumann interaction followed by post-selection, we can extract not only the eigenvalue of an observable of the measured system but also the weak value. In this post-selected von Neumann measurement, the initial pointer state of the measuring device is assumed to be a fundamental Gaussian wave function. By considering the optical implementation of the post-selected von Neumann measurement, higher-order Gaussian modes can be used. In this paper, we consider the Hermite--Gaussian (HG) and Laguerre--Gaussian (LG) modes as pointer states and calculate the average shift of the pointer states of the post-selected von Neumann measurement by assuming the system observable $\hat{A}$ with $\hat{A}^{2}=\hat{I}$ and $\hat{A}^{2}=\hat{A}$ for an arbitrary interaction strength, where $\hat{I}$ represents the identity operator. Our results show that the HG and LG pointer states for a given coupling direction have advantages and disadvantages over the fundamental Gaussian mode in improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). We expect that our general treatment of the weak values will be helpful for understanding the connection between weak- and strong-measurement regimes and may be used to propose new experimental setups with higher-order Gaussian beams to investigate further the applications of weak measurement in optical systems such as the optical vortex.

Multiple phase estimation in quantum cloning machines

Since the initial discovery of the Wootters-Zurek no-cloning theorem, a wide variety of quantum cloning machines have been proposed aiming at imperfect but optimal cloning of quantum states within its own context. Remarkably, most previous studies have employed the Bures fidelity or the Hilbert-Schmidt norm as the figure of merit to characterize the quality of the corresponding cloning scenarios. However, in many situations, what we truly care about is the relevant information about certain parameters encoded in quantum states. In this work, we investigate the multiple phase estimation problem in the framework of quantum cloning machines, from the perspective of quantum Fisher information matrix (QFIM). Focusing on the generalized d-dimensional equatorial states, we obtain the analytical formulas of QFIM for both universal quantum cloning machine (UQCM) and phase-covariant quantum cloning machine (PQCM), and prove that PQCM indeed performs better than UQCM in terms of QFIM. We highlight that our method can be generalized to arbitrary cloning schemes where the fidelity between the single-copy input and output states is input-state independent. Furthermore, the attainability of the quantum Cramer-Rao bound is also explicitly discussed.

Quantum fisher information in noninertial frames

We investigate the performance of quantum fisher information under the Unruh-Hawking effect, where one of the observers (eg, Rob) is uniformly accelerated with respect to other partners. In the context of relativistic quantum information theory, we demonstrate that quantum fisher information, as an important measure of the information content of quantum states, has a rich and subtle physical structure comparing with entanglement or Bell nonlocality. In this work, we mainly focus on the parameterized (and arbitrary) pure two-qubit states, where the weight parameter $θ$ and phase parameter $ϕ$ are naturally introduced. Intriguingly, we prove that $\mathcal{F}_θ$ keeps unchanged for both scalar and Dirac fields. Meanwhile, we observe that $\mathcal{F}_ϕ$ decreases with the increase of acceleration $r$ but remains finite in the limit of infinite acceleration. More importantly, our results show that the symmetry of $\mathcal{F}_ϕ$ (with respect to $θ=π/4$) has been broken by the influence of Unruh effect for both cases.

Single-photon scattering on a strongly dressed atom

We develop the generalized rotating-wave approximation (GRWA) approach (Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 173601 (2007)) to study the single-photon scattering on a two-level system (TLS) with arbitrarily strong coupling to a local mode in a one-dimensional (1D) coupled resonator array. We calculate the scattering amplitudes analytically, and the independent numerical results show that our approach works well in a broad parameter region. Especially, when the resonator mode is faroff resonance with the TLS, we obtain more reasonable results than the ones from the standard adiabatic approximation. Our approach is further extended to the cases with a 1D resonator array strongly coupled to more than one TLSs.
