Dynamics of a discrete eco-epidemiological model with disease in the prey

Using Mickens nonstandard method, we obtain a discrete family of nonautonomous eco-epidemiological models that include general functions corresponding to the predation of the infected and uninfected preys. We obtain results on the persistence and extinction of the infected preys assuming that the bi-dimensional predator-prey subsystem that describes the dynamics in the absence of the infection satisfies some assumptions. Some examples and simulations are undertaken to illustrate our results.

Random perturbations of an eco-epidemiological model

We consider random perturbations of a general eco-epidemiological model. We prove the existence of a global random attractor, the persistence of susceptibles preys and provide conditions for the simultaneous extinction of infectives and predators. We also discuss the dynamics of the corresponding random epidemiological $SI$ and predator-prey models. We obtain for this cases a global random attractor, prove the prevalence of susceptibles/preys and provide conditions for the extinctions of infectives/predators.

A nonautonomous epidemic model with general incidence and isolation

We obtain conditions for eradication and permanence of infection for a nonautonomous SIQR model with time-dependent parameters, that are not assumed to be periodic. The incidence is given by functions of all compartments and the threshold conditions are given by some numbers that play the role of the basic reproduction number. We obtain simple threshold conditions in the autonomous, asymptotically autonomous and periodic settings and show that our thresholds coincide with the ones already established. Additionally, we obtain threshold conditions for the general nonautonomous model with mass-action, standard and quarantine-adjusted incidence.

Existence of periodic orbits for periodic eco-epidemic models with disease in the prey

For an eco-epidemic model with disease in the prey and periodic coefficients it is conjectured in [Xingge Niu, Tailei Zhang, Zhidong Teng, The asymptotic behavior of a nonautonomous eco-epidemic model with disease in the prey, Applied Mathematical Modelling 35, 457-470 (2011)] that, when the infected prey is permanent, there is a positive periodic orbit that is globally asymptotically stable in the interior of $(\R^+)^3$. In this paper we prove the existence part of the conjecture.

A mathematical model for the customer dynamics based on marketing policy

We consider a compartmental model to study the evolution of the number of regular customers and referral customers in some corporation. Transitions between compartments are modeled by parameters depending on the social network and the marketing policy of the corporation. We obtain some results on the asymptotic number of regular customers and referral customers in several particular scenarios. Additionally we present some simulation that illustrates the behavior of the model and discuss its applicability.

Existence of periodic solutions of a periodic SEIRS model with general incidence

For a family of periodic SEIRS models with general incidence, we prove the existence of at least one endemic periodic orbit when R_0>1. Additionally, we prove the existence of a unique disease-free periodic orbit, that is globally asymptotically stable when R_0<1. In particular, our main result establishes a sharp threshold between existence and non-existence of endemic periodic orbits for this family of models.

Nonuniform behavior and stability of Hopfield neural networks with delay

We obtain a result on the behavior of the solutions of a general nonautonomous Hopfield neural network model with delay, assuming some general bound for the product of consecutive terms in the sequence of neuron charging times and some conditions to control the nonlinear part of the equations. We then apply this result to improve some existent results on the stability of Hopfield models. Our results are based on a new abstract result on the behavior of nonautonomous delayed equations.

A non-autonomous SEIRS model with general incidence rate

For a non-autonomous SEIRS model with general incidence, that admits [T. Kuniya and Y. Nakata, Permanence and extinction for a nonautonomous SEIRS epidemic model, Appl. Math. Computing 218, 9321-9331 (2012)] as a very particular case, we obtain conditions for extinction and strong persistence of the infectives. Our conditions are computed for several particular settings and extend the hypothesis of several proposed non-autonomous models. Additionally we show that our conditions are robust in the sense that they persist under small perturbations of the parameters in some suitable family. We also present some simulations that illustrate our results.

Generalized nonuniform dichotomies and local stable manifolds

We establish the existence of local stable manifolds for semiflows generated by nonlinear perturbations of nonautonomous ordinary linear differential equations in Banach spaces, assuming the existence of a general type of nonuniform dichotomy for the evolution operator that contains the nonuniform exponential and polynomial dichotomies as a very particular case. The family of dichotomies considered allow situations for which the classical Lyapunov exponents are zero. Additionally, we give new examples of application of our stable manifold theorem and study the behavior of the dynamics under perturbations.

Nonuniform dichotomic behavior: Lipschitz invariant manifolds for ODEs

We obtain global and local theorems on the existence of invariant manifolds for perturbations of non autonomous linear differential equations assuming a very general form of dichotomic behavior for the linear equation. Besides some new situations that are far from the hyperbolic setting, our results include, and sometimes improve, some known stable manifold theorems.

preprint2013arXiv

Robusteness of discrete nonuniform dichotomic behavior

For nonautonomous linear difference equations in Banach spaces we show that a very general type of dichotomic behavior persists under small enough additive linear perturbations. By using a new approach, we obtain two general robustness theorems that improve several results in the literature and also contain new situations. In particular, unlike several existent results for particular growth rates, we show that, up to a multiplicative constant, the dichotomic behavior for the perturbed equation is the same as the one for the original equation.

Nonuniform dichotomic behavior: Lipschitz invariant manifolds for difference equations

We obtain global and local theorems on the existence of invariant manifolds for perturbations of non autonomous linear difference equations assuming a very general form of dichotomic behavior for the linear equation. The results obtained include situations where the behavior is far from hyperbolic. We also give several new examples and show that our result includes as particular cases several previous theorems.

preprint2011arXiv

Nonuniform $(μ,ν)$-dichotomies and local dynamics of difference equations

We obtain a local stable manifold theorem for perturbations of nonautonomous linear difference equations possessing a very general type of nonuniform dichotomy, possibly with different growth rates in the uniform and nonuniform parts. We note that we consider situations were the classical Lyapunov exponents can be zero. Additionally, we study how the manifolds decay along the orbit of a point as well as the behavior under perturbations and give examples of nonautonomous linear difference equations that admit the dichotomies considered.
