Azimuthal Angular Asymmetry of Soft Gluon Radiation in Jet Production

We investigate the impact of soft gluon resummation on the azimuthal angle correlation between the total and relative momenta of two energetic final state particles (jets). We show that the initial and final state radiations induce sizable $\cos(ϕ)$ and $\cos (2ϕ)$ asymmetries in single jet and dijet events, respectively. We numerically evaluate the magnitude of these asymmetries for a number of processes in collider experiments, including diffractive dijet and dilepton production in ultraperipheral $pA$ and $AA$ collisions, inclusive and diffractive dijet production at the EIC and inclusive dijet production in $pp$ collisions at the LHC. In particular, the $\cos (2ϕ)$ asymmetry of perturbative origin can dominate over the primordial asymmetry due to the linearly polarized gluon distribution.

Pursuing the Precision Study for Color Glass Condensate in Forward Hadron Productions

With the tremendous accomplishments of RHIC and the LHC experiments and the advent of the future Electron-Ion Collider on the horizon, the quest for compelling evidence of the color glass condensate (CGC) has become one of the most aspiring goals in the high energy Quantum Chromodynamics research. Pursuing this question requires developing the precision test of the CGC formalism. By systematically implementing the threshold resummation, we significantly improve the stability of the next-to-leading-order calculation in CGC for forward rapidity hadron productions in $pp$ and $pA$ collisions, especially in the high $p_T$ region, and obtain reliable descriptions of all existing data measured at RHIC and the LHC across all $p_T$ regions. Consequently, this technique can pave the way for the precision studies of the CGC next-to-leading-order predictions by confronting them with a large amount of precise data.

Probing parton saturation with forward $Z^0$-boson production at small transverse momentum in p+p and p+A collisions

We calculate and compare the differential cross sections for forward $Z^0$-boson production at small transverse momentum, in proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions, using both the collinear and dilute-dense factorization frameworks. In both cases, we implement a Sudakov resummation of the large logarithms generated by soft-gluon emissions, which is essential in order to describe the transverse momentum distribution of forward $Z^0$ bosons measured at the Tevatron and the LHC. We further compute the nuclear modification factor in the dilute-dense framework, hoping to single out signals of saturation effects at small values of $x$. Our predictions are compared with those obtained in the collinear factorization framework, using two different nuclear parton distribution functions.

The Collectivity of Heavy Mesons in Proton-Nucleus Collisions

Using a model based on the Color Glass Condensate framework and the dilute-dense factorization, we systematically study the azimuthal angular correlations between a heavy flavor meson and a light reference particle in proton-nucleus collisions. The obtained second harmonic coefficients (also known as the elliptic flows) for $J/ψ$ and $D^0$ agree with recent experimental data from the LHC. We also provide predictions for the elliptic flows of $Υ$ and $B$ meson, which can be measured in the near future at the LHC. This work can shed light on the physics origin of the collectivity phenomenon in the collisions of small systems.

Can We Observe Jet $P_T$-broadening in Heavy-Ion Collisions at the LHC?

We investigate the effect of PT-broadening on jet substructure observables in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC. As an example, we focus on the opening angle of the two branches that satisfy the soft drop grooming condition in a highly energetic jet. The medium modification of the angular distribution can provide important information on the jet transport properties of hot QCD matter. In addition, we take into account a change of the overall fraction of quark and gluon jets in heavy-ion collisions. We comment on the comparison to a recent measurement from the ALICE Collaboration.

Medium-Induced Transverse Momentum Broadening via Forward Dijet Correlations

Dijet azimuthal angle correlation is arguably one of the most direct probes of the medium-induced broadening effects. The evidence for such broadening, however, is not yet clearly observed within the precision of current mid-rapidity measurements at RHIC and the LHC. We show that the dijet correlation in forward rapidity from the future LHC RUN3, aided by forward detector upgrades, can reveal this broadening thanks to the steeper jet spectra, suppressed vacuum radiations and lower underlying event background, with a sensitivity comparable to that of the future high-luminosity Au+Au run at RHIC. Dijet correlation measurements at the two facilities together can provide powerful constraints on the temperature dependence of medium transport properties.

Forward Hadron Productions in Proton-Proton Collisions in Small-$x$ Formalism

Employing the so-called hybrid formalism, we calculate the cross section of inclusive hadron production in proton-proton collisions at forward rapidity in small-$x$ formalism at one-loop order. For the case of hadron production at forward rapidity, we can uses collinear parton distributions for projectile proton and $k_\perp$ dependent gluon distribution for target proton. We show that collinear divergences associated with initial and final state parton radiations are renormalized into parton distributions and fragmentation functions in terms of the Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi evolution equation, respectively. Furthermore, rapidity divergence can be absorbed into the wave function of target proton which gives rise to the well-known Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov equation. These divergences are completely separated from the short distance partonic hard parts, which is now finite at the next-to-leading order accuracy. The result presented in this paper can be reckoned as a baseline calculation without any non-linear QCD effects in small-$x$ formalism. As a consistency check, we compare our results with the previous calculation for non-linear proton-nucleus collisions in the small-$x$ formalism and find complete agreement in the dilute and large $N_c$ limit. In phenomenology, the direct comparison of the above two separate calculations can reveal the role and strength of the non-linear dynamics in high energy QCD, and thus help us reliably study the onset of gluon saturation when genuine non-linear interactions become important.

Probing the Small-$x$ Gluon Tomography in Correlated Hard Diffractive Dijet Production in DIS

We investigate the close connection between the quantum phase space Wigner distribution of small-$x$ gluons and the color dipole scattering amplitude, and propose to study it experimentally in the hard diffractive dijet production at the planned electron-ion collider. The angular correlation between the nucleon recoiled momentum and the dijet transverse momentum will probe the nontrivial correlation in the phase space Wigner distribution. This experimental study will not only provide us with three-dimensional tomographic pictures of gluons inside high energy proton, but also give a unique and interesting signal for the small-$x$ dynamics with QCD evolution effects.

Probing Transverse Momentum Broadening in Heavy Ion Collisions

We study the dijet azimuthal de-correlation in relativistic heavy ion collisions as an important probe of the transverse momentum broadening effects of a high energy jet traversing the quark-gluon plasma. We take into account both the soft gluon radiation in vacuum associated with the Sudakov logarithms and the jet P_T-broadening effects in the QCD medium. We find that the Sudakov effects are dominant at the LHC, while the medium effects can play an important role at RHIC energies. This explains why the LHC experiments have not yet observed sizable P_T-broadening effects in the measurement of dijet azimuthal correlations in heavy ion collisions. Future investigations at RHIC will provide a unique opportunity to study the P_T-broadening effects and help to pin down the underlying mechanism for jet energy loss in a hot and dense medium.

Single Spin Asymmetry in Forward $pA$ Collisions

We compute the transverse single spin asymmetry in light hadron production $p^\uparrow p\to hX$ and $p^\uparrow A\to hX$ including the gluon saturation effect in the unpolarized nucleon/nucleus. In the forward (large-$x_F$) region, the dominant contribution comes from the so-called derivative term associated with the soft gluonic pole. This leads to the cancellation of nuclear effects in $A_N$ which can be tested at RHIC. We also show that the soft fermionic pole disappears in the saturation environment.

Sudakov Resummations in Mueller-Navelet Dijet Production

In high energy hadron-hadron collisions, dijet production with large rapidity separation proposed by Mueller and Navelet, is one of the most interesting processes which can help us to directly access the well-known Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov evolution dynamics. The objective of this work is to study the Sudakov resummation of Mueller-Navelet jets. Through the one-loop calculation, Sudakov type logarithms are obtained for this process when the produced dijets are almost back-to-back. These results could play an important role in the phenomenological study of dijet correlations with large rapidity separation at the LHC.

A non-boost-invariant solution of relativistic hydrodynamics in 1+3 dimensions

We present a new solution of relativistic hydrodynamics in 1+3 dimensions which depends on both the transverse coordinate and rapidity. At early times the flow expands dominantly longitudinally in a non-boost-invariant manner, and at late times it expands nearly spherically. These two regimes are shown to be related by symmetry. The effect of viscosity is also discussed.

Analytic solutions of the relativistic Boltzmann equation

We present new analytic solutions to the relativistic Boltzmann equation within the relaxation time approximation. We first obtain spherically expanding solutions which are the kinetic counterparts of the exact solutions of the Israel-Stewart equation in the literature. This allows us to compare the solutions of the kinetic and hydrodynamic equations at an analytical level. We then derive a novel boost-invariant solution of the Boltzmann equation which has an unconventional dependence on the proper time. The existence of such a solution is also suggested in second order hydrodynamics and fluid-gravity correspondence.

Analytical and numerical Gubser solutions of the second-order hydrodynamics

Evolution of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) near equilibrium can be described by the second-order relativistic viscous hydrodynamic equations. Consistent and analytically verifiable numerical solutions are critical for phenomenological studies of the collective behavior of QGP in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. A novel analytical solution based on the conformal Gubser flow which is a boost-invariant solution with transverse fluid velocity is presented. Due to the non-linear nature of the equation, the analytical solution is non-perturbative and exhibits features that are rather distinct from solutions to usual linear hydrodynamic equations. It is used to verify with high precision the numerical solution with a newly developed state-of-the-art $(3+1)$-dimensional second-order viscous hydro code (CLVisc). The perfect agreement between the analytical and numerical solutions demonstrates the reliability of the numerical simulations with the second-order viscous corrections. This lays the foundation for future phenomenological studies that allow one to gain access to the second-order transport coefficients.

Flow harmonics $v_n$ at finite density

We generalize the Gubser solution of viscous hydrodynamics by including the finite density effect and analytically compute the flow harmonics $v_n$. We explicitly show how $v_n$ and their viscous corrections depend on the chemical potential. The difference in $v_n$ between particles and antiparticles is also analytically computed and shown to be proportional to various chemical potentials and the viscosity. Excellent agreement is obtained between the results and the available experimental data from the SPS, RHIC and the LHC.

Forward Heavy Quarkonium Productions at the LHC

We investigate the low transverse momentum heavy quarkonium ($J/ψ$, $Υ$) productions in the forward rapidity region of $pp$ and $pA$ collisions at the LHC as an important probe to the transverse momentum tomography of the gluons in hadrons in the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework. By implementing the Sudakov resummation consistently in the CGC formalism, we achieve an excellent agreement between the improved CGC calculations and the LHC data. We show that both the small-$x$ and the Sudakov effects are essential for a complete description of heavy quarkonium productions in the low transverse momentum region. This provides a solid foundation to study the small-$x$ gluon saturation in a big nucleus with the future $pA$ programs at the LHC.

Implementing the exact kinematical constraint in the saturation formalism

We revisit the issue of the large negative next-to-leading order (NLO) cross section for single inclusive hadron production in $pA$ collisions in the saturation formalism. By implementing the exact kinematical constraint in the modified dipole splitting functions, two additional positive NLO correction terms are obtained. In the asymptotic large $k_\perp$ limit, we analytically show that these two terms become as large as the negative NLO contributions found in our previous calculation. Furthermore, the numerical results demonstrate that the applicable regime of the saturation formalism can be extended to a larger $k_\perp$ window, where the exact matching between the saturation formalism (in the asymptotic $k_\perp$ regime) and the collinear factorization calculations will have to be performed separately. In addition, after significantly improving the numerical accuracy of the NLO correction, we obtain excellent agreement with the LHC and RHIC data for forward hadron productions.

A systematic study of exact solutions in second-order conformal hydrodynamics

In this paper we present the details of our previous work on exact solutions in second-order conformal hydrodynamics together with a number of new solutions found by mapping Minkowski space onto various curved spacetimes such as anti-de Sitter space and hyperbolic space. We analytically show how the solutions of ideal hydrodynamics are modified by the second-order effects including vorticity. We also find novel boost-invariant exact solutions which exist only in second-order hydrodynamics and have an unusual dependence on the proper time.

Building up the elliptic flow: analytical insights

In this paper, we present a fully analytical description of the early-stage formation of elliptic flow in relativistic viscous hydrodynamics. We first construct an elliptic deformation of Gubser flow which is a boost invariant solution of the Navier-Stokes equation with a nontrivial transverse profile. We then analytically calculate the momentum anisotropy of the flow as a function of time and discuss the connection with the empirical formula by Bhalerao {\it et al.} regarding the viscosity dependence of elliptic flow.

Comment on "Next-to-leading order forward hadron production in the small-x regime: rapidity factorization" arXiv:1403.5221 by Kang et al

In a recent paper (arXiv:1403.5221), Kang et al.proposed the so-called "rapidity factorization" for the single inclusive forward hadron production in pA collisions. We point out that the leading small-x logarithm was mis-identified in this paper, and hence the newly added next-to-leading order correction term is unjustified and should be absent in view of the small-x factorization.

Exact analytical solutions of second-order conformal hydrodynamics

We present some exact solutions of relativistic second-order hydrodynamic equations in theories with conformal symmetry. Starting from a spherically expanding solution in ideal hydrodynamics, we take into account general conformal second-order corrections, and construct, for the first time, fully analytical axisymmetric exact solutions including the case with nonzero vorticity. These solutions are time-reversible despite having a nonvanishing shear stress tensor and provide a useful quantitative measure of the second-order effects in relativistic hydrodynamics.

Flow harmonics within an analytically solvable viscous hydrodynamic model

Based on a viscous hydrodynamic model with anisotropically perturbed Gubser flow and isothermal Cooper-Frye freezeout at early times, we analytically compute the flow harmonics $v_n(p_T)$ and study how they scale with the harmonic number $n$ and transverse momentum, as well as the system size, shear and bulk viscosity coefficients, and collision energy. In particular, we find that the magnitude of shear viscous corrections grows linearly with $n$. The mixing between different harmonics is also discussed. While this model is rather simple as compared to realistic heavy-ion collisions, we argue that the scaling results presented here may be meaningfully compared to experimental data collected over many energies, system sizes, and geometries.

Matching Collinear and Small-x Factorization Calculations for Inclusive Hadron Production in pA Collisions

We construct a theoretical framework to match the formulas for forward inclusive hadron productions in pA collisions in the small-x saturation formalism and collinear factorization. The small-x calculation can be viewed as a power series in $Q_s^2/k_\perp^2$, in which the collinear factorization result corresponds to the leading term. At high transverse momentum, the subleading correction terms are insignficant, whereas at low $p_\perp$, the power corrections become important and the small-x resummation is essential to describe the differential cross section. We show that the familiar collinear factorization calculation can smoothly match the results from small-x factorization at next-to-leading order in $α_s$ when we use exact kinematics, as opposed to the approximate kinematics in previous work. With this matching, we can describe the experimental data from RHIC very well at high $p_\perp$.

Probing Gluon Saturation through Dihadron Correlations at an Electron-Ion Collider

Two-particle azimuthal angle correlations have been proposed to be one of the most direct and sensitive probes to access the underlying gluon dynamics involved in hard scatterings. In anticipation of an Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), detailed studies of dihadron correlation measurements in electron-proton and electron-ion collisions at an EIC have been performed. The impact of such measurements on the understanding of the different gluon distribution functions, as a clean signature for gluon saturation and to constrain saturation models further, has been explored. It is shown that dihadron correlation measurements will be one of the key methods to probe gluon saturation phenomena at a future EIC.

The Search for Gluon Saturation in pA Collisions

In this talk, I reviewed the recent theoretical progress towards the exploration of the gluon saturation phenomenon in $pA$ collisions at both RHIC and the LHC. Two important pillars of this exploration are the single inclusive forward hadron productions and forward dihadron correlations, which have both been computed up to one-loop order within the small-$x$ factorization formalism. Furthermore, detailed numerical study for the single inclusive hadron production at next-to-leading order provides us good description of the low transverse momentum data measured in $dAu$ collisions at RHIC with significantly reduced uncertainty. In addition, the one-loop calculation for dihadron productions in $pA$ collisions shows that there is a new type of large logarithm, which is known as the Sudakov factor, arising in the back-to-back correlation limit.

Sudakov Double Logarithms Resummation in Hard Processes in Small-x Saturation Formalism

In this manuscript, we present a complete study of the Sudakov double logarithms resummation for various hard processes in eA and pA collisions in the small-x saturation formalism. We first employ a couple of slightly different formalisms to perform the one-loop analysis of the Higgs boson production process in pA collisions, and demonstrate that Sudakov-type logarithms arise as the leading correction and that they can be systematically resummed in addition to the usual small-x resummation. We further study the Sudakov double logarithms for other processes such as heavy quark pair production and back-to-back dijet production in eA and pA collisions through detailed calculation of the corresponding one-loop diagrams. As the most important contribution from the one-loop correction, the Sudakov factor should play an important role in the phenomenological study of saturation physics in the pA programs at RHIC and the LHC.

Towards the Test of Saturation Physics Beyond Leading Logarithm

We present results from the first next-to-leading order (NLO) numerical analysis of forward hadron production in pA collisions in the small-x saturation formalism. Using parton distributions and fragmentation functions at NLO, as well as the dipole amplitude from the solution to the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation with running coupling, together with the NLO corrections to the hard coefficients, we obtain a good description of the available RHIC data in dAu collisions. We also comment on the results in the large p_T region beyond the saturation scale. Furthermore, we make predictions for forward hadron production in pPb collisions at the LHC. This analysis not only incorporates the important NLO corrections for all partonic channels, but also reduces the renormalization scale dependence and therefore helps to significantly reduce the theoretical uncertainties. It therefore provides a precise test of saturation physics beyond the leading logarithmic approximation.

Universal Suppression of Heavy Quarkonium Production in pA Collisions at Low Transverse Momentum

The nuclear suppression of heavy quarkonium production at low transverse momentum in pA collisions in high energy scatterings is investigated in the small-x factorization formalism. A universal suppression is found in the large Nc limit between the two formalisms to describe the heavy quarkonium production: the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) and the color-evaporation model (CEM). This provides an important probe to the saturation momentum at small-x in big nucleus. We also comment on the phenomenological applications of our results.

Universality of multi-particle production in QCD at high energies

By studying the color structure of multi-particle production processes in p+A-type (dilute-dense) collisions, we find that higher-point functions beyond typical dipoles and quadrupoles, e.g., sextupoles, octupoles, etc., naturally appear in the cross sections, but are explicitly suppressed in the large-N_c limit. We evaluate the sextupole in the McLerran-Venugopalan model and find that, in general, its analytical form cannot be written as combination of dipoles and quadrupoles. Within the Color Glass Condensate framework, we present a proof that in the large-N_c limit, all multi-particle production processes in the collision of a dilute system off a dense can, up to all orders in α_s, be described in terms of only dipoles and quadrupoles.

Back-to-Back Correlations of Di-hadrons in dAu Collisions at RHIC

We perform a complete theoretical analysis of the azimuthal angular correlation of two-hadron productions in the forward $dAu$ collisions at RHIC in the saturation formalism, and obtain a very good agreement with the experimental data. It is demonstrated that the suppression and broadening of the away side peak provide a unique signal for the onset of the saturation mechanism at small-$x$ in a large nucleus. We emphasize that future experiments of di-hadron correlations in $pA$ collisions at both RHIC and LHC, and in $eA$ collisions at the planned electron-ion collider, shall provide us with a thorough study and understanding of the strong interaction dynamics in the saturation regime.

Drell-Yan Lepton-Pair-Jet Correlation in pA collisions

In this paper, we numerically study the forward correlations between the lepton-pair and associated hadrons in Drell-Yan process in pA collisions. Using the present knowledge of the dipole gluon distribution from the modified Golec-Biernat-Wüsthoff model and from the solution of the Balitsky-Kovchegov evolution equation, we are able to compute and predict the forward correlations between the lepton-pair and associated hadron in Drell-Yan process at RHIC and LHC. Similar to the forward dihadron correlation in d-Au collisions measured at RHIC, the Drell-Yan type correlation also implies a strong suppression of the away side hadron at forward rapidity due to the strong interaction between the forward quark from the projectile proton and the gluon density from the target nucleus. Another feature of this process is that the correlation contains a double-peak structure in the away side, which makes it a unique observable.

Inclusive Hadron Productions in pA Collisions

We calculate inclusive hadron productions in pA collisions in the small-x saturation formalism at one-loop order. The differential cross section is written into a factorization form in the coordinate space at the next-to-leading order, while the naive form of the convolution in the transverse momentum space does not hold. The rapidity divergence with small-x dipole gluon distribution of the nucleus is factorized into the energy evolution of the dipole gluon distribution function, which is known as the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation. Furthermore, the collinear divergences associated with the incoming parton distribution of the nucleon and the outgoing fragmentation function of the final state hadron are factorized into the splittings of the associated parton distribution and fragmentation functions, which allows us to reproduce the well-known DGLAP equation. The hard coefficient function, which is finite and free of divergence of any kind, is evaluated at one-loop order.

On the linearly polarized gluon distributions in the color dipole model

We show that the linearly polarized gluon distributions appear in the color dipole model as we derive the full cross sections of the DIS dijet production and the Drell-Yan dijet ($γ^*$ jet correlation) process. Together with the normal Weizsäcker-Williams gluon distribution, the linearly polarized one will contribute to the DIS dijet production cross section as the coefficient of the $\cos(2 Δϕ) $ term in the correlation limit. We also derive the exact results for the cross section of the Drell-Yan dijet process, and find that the linearly polarized dipole gluon distribution which is identical to the normal dipole gluon distribution involves in the cross section. The results obtained in this paper agree with the previous transverse momentum dependent factorization study. We further derive the small-$x$ evolution of these linearly polarized gluon distributions and find that they rise as $x$ gets small at high energy.

Sivers asymmetry of Drell-Yan production in small-$x$ regime

We study the Sivers single spin asymmetry of the Drell-Yan lepton pair production in the small-$x$ regime. We find that in the corresponding kinematic region the spin asymmetry calculated in the small-$x$ approach is consistent with either the usual transverse-momentum-dependent factorization formalism or the collinear factorization formalism, respectively. We estimate the Sivers asymmetry for both polarized p+p and p+A collisions and argue that the Drell-Yan production is an interesting and unique probe for both the transverse spin physics and the small-$x$ saturation effect.

Sudakov Resummation in Small-x Saturation Formalism

Through an explicit calculation of massive scalar particle (e.g., Higgs boson) production in high energy pA collisions up to one-loop order, we demonstrate that the Sudakov-type logarithms in hard processes in small-x saturation formalism can be systematically separated from the typical small-x logarithms. The generic feature of the Sudakov logarithms and all order resummation is derived. We further comment on the phenomenological implications and extension to other hard processes in the small-x calculations.

Gluon Distribution Functions and Higgs Boson Production at Moderate Transverse Momentum

We investigate the gluon distribution functions and their contributions to the Higgs boson production in pp collisions in the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism. In addition to the usual azimuthal symmetric transverse momentum dependent gluon distribution, we find that the azimuthal correlated gluon distribution also contributes to the Higgs boson production. This explains recent findings on the additional contribution in the transverse momentum resummation for the Higgs boson production as compared to that for electroweak boson production processes. We further examine the small-x naive k_t-factorization in the dilute region and find that the azimuthal correlated gluon distribution contribution is consistently taken into account, and the result agrees with the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism. We comment on the possible breakdown of the naive k_t-factorization in the dense medium region, due to the unique behaviors for the gluon distributions.

kt-factorization for Hard Processes in Nuclei

Two widely proposed kt-dependent gluon distributions in the small-x saturation regime are investigated using two particle back-to-back correlations in high energy scattering processes. The Weizsacker-Williams gluon distribution, interpreted as the number density of gluon inside the nucleus, is studied in the quark-antiquark jet correlation in deep inelastic scattering. On the other hand, the unintegrated gluon distribution, defined as the Fourier transform of the color-dipole cross section, is probed in the direct photon-jet correlation in pA collisions. Dijet-correlation in pA collisions depends on both gluon distributions through combination and convolution in the large Nc limit.

On the small-x evolution of the color quadrupole and the Weizsäcker-Williams gluon distribution

Color quadrupoles have been found to be important in the proper description of observables sensitive to the small-x regime in nuclei as well as in the operator definition of the Weizsäcker-Williams gluon distribution. In this paper, we derive the small-x evolution equation of the quadrupole and the Weizsäcker-Williams gluon distribution without taking large N_c limit and study the properties of the equation in both dilute and saturation regime. We find that the quadrupole evolution follows the BFKL evolution in the dilute regime and then saturates in the dense region due to nonlinear terms. This leads us to conclude that the Weizsäcker-Williams gluon distribution should obey the same geometrical behavior as the dipole gluon distribution as found in the inclusive DIS measurement.

One-loop Factorization for Inclusive Hadron Production in $pA$ Collisions in the Saturation Formalism

We demonstrate the QCD factorization for inclusive hadron production in $pA$ collisions in the saturation formalism at one-loop order, with explicit calculation of both real and virtual gluon radiation diagrams. The collinear divergences associated with the incoming parton distribution of the nucleon and the outgoing fragmentation function of the final state hadron, as well as the rapidity divergence with small-$x$ dipole gluon distribution of the nucleus are factorized into the splittings of the associated parton distribution and fragmentation functions and the energy evolution of the dipole gluon distribution function. The hard coefficient function is evaluated at one-loop order, and contains no divergence.

QCD Resummation for Single Spin Asymmetries

We study the transverse momentum dependent factorization for single spin asymmetries in Drell-Yan and semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering processes at one-loop order. The next-to-leading order hard factors are calculated in the Ji-Ma-Yuan factorization scheme. We further derive the QCD resummation formalisms for these observables following the Collins-Soper-Sterman method. The results are expressed in terms of the collinear correlation functions from initial and/or final state hadrons coupled with the Sudakov form factor containing all order soft-gluon resummation effects. The scheme independent coefficients are calculated up to one-loop order.

Universality of Unintegrated Gluon Distributions at small x

We systematically study dijet production in various processes in the small-$x$ limit and establish an effective $k_t$-factorization for hard processes in a system with dilute probes scattering on a dense target. We find that the well-known Weizsäcker-Williams gluon distribution can be directly probed in the quark-antiquark jet correlation in deep inelastic scattering and the dipole gluon distribution can be directly measured in the direct photon-jet correlation in $pA$ collisions. In the large-$N_c$ limit, the unintegrated gluon distributions involved in other different dijet channels in pA collisions are shown to be related to two widely proposed ones: the Weizsäcker-Williams gluon distribution and the dipole gluon distribution.

Initial and Final State Interaction Effects in Small-x Quark Distributions

We study the initial and final state interaction effects in the transverse momentum dependent parton distributions in the small-$x$ saturation region. In particular, we discuss the quark distributions in the semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering, Drell-Yan lepton pair production and dijet-correlation processes in $pA$ collisions. We calculate the quark distributions in the scalar-QED model and then extend to the color glass condensate formalism in QCD. The quark distributions are found universal between the DIS and Drell-Yan processes. On the other hand, the quark distribution from the $qq'\to qq'$ channel contribution to the dijet-correlation process is not universal. However, we find that it can be related to the quark distribution in DIS process by a convolution with the normalized unintegrated gluon distribution in the color glass condensate formalism in the large $N_c$ limit.

Non-Universality of Transverse Momentum Dependent Parton Distributions at Small-x

We study the universality issue of the transverse momentum dependent parton distributions at small-x, by comparing the initial/final state interaction effects in dijet-correlation in pA collisions with those in deep inelastic lepton nucleus scattering. We demonstrate the non-universality by performing an explicit calculation in a particular model where the multiple gauge boson exchange contributions are summed up to all orders. We comment on the implications of our results on the theoretical interpretation of di-hadron correlation in dA collisions in terms of the saturation phenomena in deep inelastic lepton nucleus scattering.

Nonforward Compton scattering in AdS/CFT correspondence

We study the nonforward Compton scattering in particular the deeply virtual Compton scattering from AdS/CFT. We first calculate the contributions from the s-channel and u-channel supergravity diagrams as well as the four point interaction diagram which correspond to the Compton scatterings on a dilaton target in CFT. Furthermore, we study the Compton scattering on a dilatino target. Assuming that protons can be identified as supergravity modes of dilatino, we compare the calculated DVCS cross section to the low-energy experimental data from the H1 and ZEUS collaborations and find good agreement. We also discuss the t-channel graviton exchange contribution and show that it should be dominant in the high-energy limit.

Heavy-quark energy loss and thermalization in a strongly coupled SYM plasma

Using the AdS/CFT correspondence, we compute the radiative energy loss of a slowly decelerating heavy quark with mass M moving through a supersymmetric Yang Mills (SYM) plasma at temperature T at large t'Hooft coupling λ. The calculation is carried out in terms of perturbation in \sqrtλT/M, and the rate of the energy loss is computed up to second order. We explain the physical meaning of each correction and estimate the thermalization time of a heavy quark moving in a strongly-coupled plasma.

On the anomalous dimensions of the multiple pomeron exchanges

High energy hard scattering in large $N_{c}$ limit can be described by the QCD dipole model. In this paper, single, double and triple BFKL pomeron exchange amplitudes are computed explicitly within the dipole model. Based on the calculation, the general formula $γ^{(k)*}_{0}=χ^{-1}(kχ({1/2}))$ which governs the anomalous dimension of $1\Rightarrow k$ amplitude is conjectured. As far as the unitarity problem is concerned, we find that the anomalous dimension $γ$ varies from graph to graph due to the DGLAP evolution. In the end, a comparison between this computation and reggeon field theory is provided.

Pion-photon and photon-pion transition form factors in light-cone formalism

We derive the minimal Fock-state expansions of the pion and the photon wave functions in light-cone formalism, then we calculate the pion-photon and the photon-pion transition form factors of $γ^{\ast}π^{0}\to γ$ and $γ^{\ast}γ\to π^{0}$ processes by employing these quark-antiquark wave functions of the pion and the photon. We find that our calculation for the $γ^{\ast}γ\to π^{0}$ transition form factor agrees with the experimental data at low and moderately high energy scale. Moreover, the physical differences and inherent connections between the transition form factors of $γ^{\ast}π^{0}\to γ$ and $ γ^{\ast}γ\to π^{0}$ have been illustrated, which indicate that these two physical processes are intrinsically related. In addition, we also discuss the $π^{0}\to γγ$ form factor and the decay width $ \mathitΓ(π\to γγ)$ at $Q^{2}=0$.
