In this paper we derive the most general curvature squared action coupled to an arbitrary number of vector multiplets in four dimensional N=2 supergravity using the dilaton Weyl multiplet. The action that we derive is encoded in a single holomorphic prepotential.
Superconformal matter multiplets play a crucial role in the construction of Poincare supergravity invariants. Off-shell multiplets allow for construction of general matter couplings in supergravity. In Nucl. Phys. B214 (1983) 519-531, relaxed hypermultiplet was constructed in rigid supersymmetry which on coupling with the real scalar multiplet allowed for an off-shell formulation of the rigid hypermultiplet. In this paper, we extend the relaxed hypermultiplet to conformal supergravity. For consistency with the superconformal algebra, we find that the fields have to be allowed to transform in a non-canonical way under SU(2) symmetry. We find suitable field redefinitions to obtain fields which are irreducible representations of SU(2) R-symmetry and present the full non-linear transformation rule.
The most general class of 4D N=4 conformal supergravity actions depends on a holomorphic function of the scalar fields that parametrize an SU(1,1)/U(1) coset space. The bosonic sector of these actions was presented in a letter [arXiv:1609.09083]. Here we provide the complete actions to all orders in the fermion fields. They rely upon a new N=4 density formula, which permits a direct but involved construction. This density formula also recovers the on-shell action for vector multiplets coupled to conformal supergravity. Applications of these results in the context of Poincaré supergravity are briefly discussed.
We will use the covariant superform approach to develop a new density formula for N=2 conformal supergravity which is based on a fermionic multiplet whose lowest component is a dimension-5/2 spinor. We will show that this density formula admits an embedding of the real scalar multiplet of [arXiv:1712.02309]. Upon using the embedding of the tensor multiplet into the real scalar multiplet, we will construct a new higher derivative action of the tensor multiplet in N=2 conformal supergravity.
Based on the known non-linear transformation rules of the Weyl multiplet fields, the action of N=4 conformal supergravity is constructed up to terms quadratic in the fermion fields. The bosonic sector corrects a recent result in the literature.
We compute the two-point correlation functions for the spin-3 theory in three dimensional (Anti-) de Sitter spacetimes by using holographic renormalisation. For the AdS case, we find results consistent with the general requirements of two-dimensional conformal invariance. In the de Sitter case, we find similar results. We discuss consistency requirements on the three point functions TWW for our results to be compatible with the asymptotic symmetry algebra for AdS case and with the de-Sitter central charge found in hep-th/0106113 by analyzing the stress-tensor. We also discuss why it is very likely that our results are not compatible with the imaginary central charge previously found for higher-spin theories in dS(3).
We calculate the one loop partition function for topologically massive higher spin gravity (TMHSG) for arbitrary spin by taking the spin-3 TMHSG action constructed in arXiv:1107.0915 and subsequently generalising it for an arbitrary spin. We find that the final result can be put into a product form which cannot be holomorphically factorized giving strong evidence that the topologically massive higher spin gravity is dual to a high spin extension of logarithmic CFT rather than a chiral one.
We look at the generalisation of topologically massive gravity (TMG) to higher spins, specifically spin-3. We find a special "chiral" point for the spin-three, analogous to the spin-two example, which actually coincides with the usual spin-two chiral point. But in contrast to usual TMG, there is the presence of a non-trivial trace and its logarithmic partner at the chiral point. The trace modes carry energy opposite in sign to the traceless modes. The logarithmic partner of the traceless mode carries negative energy indicating an instability at the chiral point. We make several comments on the asymptotic symmetry and its possible deformations at this chiral point and speculate on the higher spin generalisation of LCFT2 dual to the spin-3 massive gravity at the chiral point.
We construct new gravity backgrounds holographic dual to neutral plasma with U(1) global symmetry in the presence of constant electric field, considering its full back-reactions to the metric. As the electric field and the induced current cause a net energy in-flow to the system, the plasma is continually heated up and the corresponding gravity solution has an expanding horizon. After proposing a consistent late-time expansion scheme, we present analytic solutions in the scheme up to next-leading order, and our solutions are new time-dependent solutions of 5D asymptotic AdS Einstein-Maxwell(-Chern-Simons) theory. To extract dual CFT stress tensor and U(1) current from the solutions, we perform a rigorous holographic renormalization of Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory including full back-reactions, which can in itself be an interesting addition to literatures. As by-products, we obtain interesting modifications of energy-momentum/current Ward identities due to the U(1) symmetry and its triangle anomaly.
We study the ground state of baryonic/axial matter at zero temperature chiral-symmetry broken phase under a large magnetic field, in the framework of holographic QCD by Sakai-Sugimoto. Our study is motivated by a recent proposal of chiral magnetic spiral phase that has been argued to be favored against previously studied phase of homogeneous distribution of axial/baryonic currents in terms of meson super-currents dictated by triangle anomalies in QCD. Our results provide an existence proof of chiral magnetic spiral in strong coupling regime via holography, at least for large axial chemical potentials, whereas we don't find the phenomenon in the case of purely baryonic chemical potential.
We show that integrability and symmetries of the near horizon geometry of the D1-D5 system determine the S-matrix for the scattering of magnons with polarizations in AdS3 × S3 completely up to a phase. Using semi-classical methods we evaluate the phase to the leading and to the one-loop approximation in the strong coupling expansion. We then show that the phase obeys the unitarity constraint implied by the crossing relations to the one-loop order. We also verify that the dispersion relation obeyed by these magnons is one-loop exact at strong coupling which is consistent with their BPS nature.
We study dispersion relations of hydrodynamic waves of hot N=4 SYM plasma at strong coupling with a finite U(1) R-charge chemical potential via holography. We first provide complete equations of motion of linearized fluctuations out of a charged AdS black-hole background according to their helicity, and observe that helicity +1 and -1 transverse shear modes receive a new parity-odd contribution from the 5D Chern-Simons term, which is dual to 4D U(1)^3 anomaly. We present a systematic solution of the helicity +1,-1 wave equations in long wave-length expansion, and obtain the corresponding dispersion relations. The results depend on the sign of helicity, which may be called chiral shear waves.
We study giant magnons in the the D1-D5 system from both the boundary CFT and as classical solutions of the string sigma model in AdS3×S3×T4. Re-examining earlier studies of the symmetric product conformal field theory we argue that giant magnons in the symmetric product are BPS states in a centrally extended SU(1∣1)×SU(1∣1) superalgebra with two more additional central charges. The magnons carry these additional central charges locally but globally they vanish. Using a spin chain description of these magnons and the extended superalgebra we show that these magnons obey a dispersion relation which is periodic in momentum. We then identify these states on the string theory side and show that here too they are BPS in the same centrally extended algebra and obey the same dispersion relation which is periodic in momentum. This dispersion relation arises as the BPS condition for the extended algebra and is similar to that of magnons in N=4 Yang-Mills
