Observable Signatures of a Quarkyonic Phase in Neutron Stars

Performing Bayesian inference on quarkyonic equation-of-state models for neutron star matter, we find they satisfy all current astrophysical observations, thus reinforcing the argument for the use of such neutron star matter equation-of-state models alongside traditional ones. To observationally differentiate between stars with and without a quarkyonic phase, we identify a novel observational signature: the slope of the mass-radius relation at some fixed mass in conjunction with the sound speed at the star's center. In this plane, we find quarkyonic stars in a region with high central sound speed and positive slope, that is distinct from purely nucleonic stars. High accuracy NS radii measurements facilitated by the next generation of detectors, coupled with ongoing studies of mapping astrophysical observables to microphysical properties like sound speed can be used for testing this signature. Our results indicate that a neutron star with these properties would be a strong evidence for existence of a quarkyonic phase or a similar crossover transition in its core.

Astrophysical constraints on neutron star $f$-modes with a nonparametric equation of state representation

We constrain the fundamental-mode ($f$-mode) oscillation frequencies of nonrotating neutron stars using a phenomenological Gaussian process model for the unknown dense-matter equation of state conditioned on a suite of gravitational-wave, radio and X-ray observations. We infer the quadrupolar $f$-mode frequency preferred by the astronomical data as a function of neutron star mass, with error estimates that quantify the impact of equation of state uncertainty, and compare it to the contact frequency for inspiralling neutron-star binaries, finding that resonance with the orbital frequency can be achieved for the coalescences with the most unequal mass ratio. For an optimally configured binary neutron star merger, we estimate the gravitational waveform's tidal phasing due to $f$-mode dynamical tides as $7^{+2}_{-3}$ rad at merger. We assess prospects for distinguishing $f$-mode dynamical tides with current and future-generation gravitational-wave observatories.

The Impact of Anisotropy on Neutron Star Properties: Insights from I-f-C Universal Relations

This study presents a universal relation for anisotropic neutron stars, called the $I-f-C$ relation, which accounts for the local anisotropic pressure using the Quasi-Local (QL) Model proposed by Horvat et al. \cite{QL_Model} to describe the anisotropy inside the neutron star. This study analyzes approximately 60 unified tabulated EoS-ensembles, spanning from relativistic to non-relativistic mean-field models, that comply with multimessenger constraints and cover a broad range of stiffness. The results indicate that the relationship between the parameters becomes more robust with positive anisotropy, while it weakens with negative anisotropy. With the help of the GW170817 \& GW190814 tidal deformability limit, a theoretical limit for the canonical $f$-mode frequency for both isotropic and anisotropic stars is established. For isotropic case the canonical $f$-mode frequency for event GW170817 \& GW190814 is $f_{1.4} = 2.605^{+0.487} _ {-0.459}\ \mathrm{kHz}$ and $ f_{1.4} = 2.093^{+0.150} _ {-0.125} \ \mathrm{kHz}$ respectively. These established relationships have the potential to serve as a reliable tool to limit the equation of state of nuclear matter when measurements of relevant observables are obtained.

Dark Matter Effects on the Compact Star Properties

The neutron star properties are generally determined by the equation of state of $β$-equilibrated dense matter. In this work, we consider the interaction of fermionic dark matter (DM) particles with the nucleons via Higgs exchange and investigate its effect on the neutron star properties with the relativistic mean-field model equation of state coupled with DM. We deduce that DM significantly affects the neutron star properties, such as considerably reduce the maximum mass of the star, which depends on the percentage of the DM considered inside the neutron star. The tidal Love numbers both for electric and magnetic cases and surficial Love numbers are also studied for DM admixed NS. It is observed that the magnitude of tidal and surficial Love numbers increase with more DM percentage. Further, we point out that post-Newtonian tidal corrections to gravitational waves decreased by increasing DM percentage. Also, the DM effect on the GW signal is significant during the late inspiral and merger stages of binary evolution for GW frequencies >500 Hz.

Error Bound for the Linear Complementarity Problem using Plus Function

In this article we establish error bound for linear complementarity problem with $P$-matrix using plus function. We introduce a fundamental quantity associated with a $P$-matrix and show how this quantity is useful in deriving error bounds for the linear complementarity problem of the $P$-type. We also obtain (upper and lower) bounds for the quantity introduced. Keywords: Linear complementarity problem, plus function, error bound, relative error bound.

Solution of Tensor Complementarity Problem Using Homotopy Function

The paper aims to propose a suitable method in finding the solution of tensor complementarity problem. The tensor complementarity problem is a subclass of nonlinear complementarity problems for which the involved function is defined by a tensor. We propose a new homotopy function with smooth and bounded homotopy path to obtain solution of the tensor complementarity problem under some conditions. A homotopy continuation method is developed based on the proposed homotopy function. Several numerical examples are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed homotopy continuation method.

Warm dense matter and cooling of supernovae remnants

We study the thermal effects on the nuclear matter (NM) properties such as binding energy, incompressibility, free symmetry energy and its coefficients using NL3, G3 and IU-FSU parameter sets of relativistic mean-field models. These models being consistent with the properties of cold NM, have also been used to study the effect of temperature by incorporating the Fermi function. The critical temperature for the liquid-gas phase transition in the symmetric NM is found to be 14.60, 15.37 and 14.50 MeV for NL3, G3 and IU-FSU parameter sets respectively, which is in excellent agreement with previous theoretical and experimental studies. We inspect that the properties related to second differential coefficient of the binding energy and free symmetry energy at saturation density ( i.e. K 0 (n, T ) and Q sym,0) exhibit the contrary effects for NL3 and G3 parameters as the temperature increases. We find that the prediction of saturated curvature parameter ( K sym,0 ) for G3 equation of state at finite temperature favour the combined analysis of K sym,0 for the existence of massive pulsars, gravitational waves from GW170817 and NICER observations of PSR J0030+0451. Further, we investigate the cooling mechanism of newly born stars through neutrino emissivity controlled by direct Urca process and instate some interesting remarks about neutrino emissivity. We also deliberate the effect of temperature on the M-R profile of Proto-Neutron star.

GW170817 constraints on the properties of a neutron star in the presence of WIMP dark matter

The properties of a neutron star are studied in the presence of dark matter. We have considered a relatively light Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) as a dark matter candidate with properties suggested by the results of the DAMA/LIBRA collaboration, realized for instance within the framework of the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. The dark matter particle interacts with the baryonic matter of a neutron star through Higgs bosons. The dark matter variables are essentially fixed using the results of the DAMA/LIBRA experiment, which are then used to build the Lagrangian density for the WIMP-nucleon interaction inside a neutron star. We have used the effective field theory motivated relativistic mean field model to study the equations-of-state in the presence of dark matter. The predicted equations-of-state are used in the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations to obtain the mass-radius relations, the moment of inertia, and effects of the tidal field on a neutron star. The calculated properties are compared with the corresponding data of the GW170817 event.

Structure effects on fission yields

The structure effects of the fission fragments on their yields are studied within the statical theory with the inputs, like, excitation energies and level density parameters for the fission fragments at a given temperature calculated using the temperature dependent relativistic mean field formalism (TRMF). For the comparison, the results are also obtained using the finite range droplet model. At temperatures $T =1-2$ MeV, the structural effects of the fission fragments influence their yields. It is also seen that at $T = $ 3 MeV, the fragments become spherical and the fragments distribution peaks at a close shell or near close shell nucleus.

Effects of isovector scalar meson on hyperon star

We study the effects of isovector-scalar ($δ$)-meson on neutron star. Influence of $δ$-meson on both static and rotating neutron star is discussed. Inclusion of $δ$-meson in a neutron star system consisting of proton, neutron and electron, make the equation of state stiffer in higher density and consequently increases the maximum mass of the star. But induction of $δ$-meson in the hyperon star decreases the maximum mass of the hyperon star. This is due to the early evolution of hyperons in presence of $δ-$meson.

Nuclear structure and decay properties of even-even nuclei in $Z=70-80$ drip-line region

We study nuclear structure properties for various isotopes of Ytterbium (Yb), Hafnium(Hf), Tungsten(W), Osmium(Os), Platinum(Pt) and Mercury(Hg) in $Z = 70 - 80$ drip-line region starting from $N =80$ to $N=170$ within the formalism of relativistic mean field (RMF) theory. The pairing correlation is taken care by using BCS approach. We compared our results with Finite Range Droplet Model(FRDM) and experimental data and found that the calculated results are in good agreement. Neutron shell closure are obtained at $N=82$ and $126$ in this region. We have also studied probable decay mechanisms of these elements.

Examining the stability of thermally fissile Th and U isotopes

The properties of recently predicted thermally fissile Th and U isotopes are studied within the framework of relativistic mean field (RMF) approach using axially deformed basis. We calculated the ground, first intrinsic excited state and matter density for highly neutron-rich thorium and uranium isotopes. The possible modes of decay like $α$-decay and $β$-decay are analyzed. We found that the neutron-rich isotopes are stable against $α$-decay, however they are very much unstable against $β$-decay. The life time of these nuclei predicted to be tens of second against $β$-decay. If these nuclei utilize before their decay time, a lots of energy can be produced within the help of multi-fragmentation fission. Also, these nuclei have a great implication in astrophysical point of view. The total nucleonic densities distribution are calculated, from which the clusters inside the parent nuclei are determined. %Most of the thorium isotopes are $α$ emitters, where as some %of them have short half-lives. In some cases, we found the isomeric states with energy range from 2 to 3 MeV and three minima in the potential energy surface of $^{228-230}$Th and $^{228-234}$U isotopes.

Properties of superheavy nuclei with Z = 124

We employ Relativistic Mean Field (RMF) model with NL3 parametrization to investigate the ground state properties of superheavy nucleus, Z = 124. The nuclei selected (from among complete isotopic series) for detailed investigation show that the nucleon density at the center is very low and therefore, these nuclei can be treated as semi-bubble nuclei. The considerable shell gap appears at neutron numbers N = 172, 184 and 198 showing the magicity corresponding to these numbers. The results are compared with the macro-microscopic Finite Range Droplet Model (FRDM) wherever possible.

Shape co-existence and parity doublet in Zr isotopes

We studied the ground and excited states properties for Zr isotopes starting^M from proton to neutron drip-lines using the relativistic and non-relativistic mean field formalisms with BCS and Bogolyubov pairing. The celebrity NL3 and SLy4 parameter sets are used in the calculations. We find spherical ground and low-lying^M superdeformed excited states in most of the isotopes. Several couples of^M $Ω^π=1/2^{\pm}$ parity doublets configurations are found,^M while analyzing the single-particle energy levels of the superdeformed ^M configurations.
