Rigid modules and Schur roots

Let $C$ be a symmetrizable generalized Cartan matrix with symmetrizer $D$ and orientation $Ω$. In previous work we associated an algebra $H$ to this data, such that the locally free $H$-modules behave in many aspects like representations of a hereditary algebra $\tilde{H}$ of the corresponding type. We define a Noetherian algebra $\hat{H}$ over a power series ring, which provides a direct link between the representation theory of $H$ and of $\tilde{H}$. We define and study a reduction and a localization functor relating the module categories of these three types of algebras. These are used to show that there are natural bijections between the sets of isoclasses of tilting modules over $H$, $\hat{H}$ and $\tilde{H}$. We show that the indecomposable rigid locally free modules over $H$ and $\hat{H}$ are parametrized, via their rank vector, by the real Schur roots associated to $(C,Ω)$. Moreover, the left finite bricks of $H$, in the sense of Asai, are parametrized, via their dimension vector, by the real Schur roots associated to the dual datum $(C^T,Ω)$.

Cluster algebras and category O for representations of Borel subalgebras of quantum affine algebras

Let $\mathcal{O}$ be the category of representations of the Borel subalgebra of a quantum affine algebra introduced by Jimbo and the first author. We show that the Grothendieck ring of a certain monoidal subcategory of $\mathcal{O}$ has the structure of a cluster algebra of infinite rank, with an initial seed consisting of prefundamental representations. In particular, the celebrated Baxter relations for the 6-vertex model get interpreted as Fomin-Zelevinsky mutation relations.

Between two moments

In this short note, we draw attention to a relation between two Horn polytopes which is proved in [Chenciner-Jiménez Pérez] as the result on the one side of a deep combinatorial result in [Fomin,Fulton, Li,Poon], on the other side of a simple computation involving complex structures. This suggested an inequality between Littlewood-Richardson coefficients which we prove using the symmetric characterization of these coefficients given in [Carré,Leclerc].

A cluster algebra approach to q-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules

We describe a cluster algebra algorithm for calculating q-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules for any untwisted quantum affine algebra. This yields a geometric q-character formula for tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules. In simply laced type this formula extends Nakajima's formula for q-characters of standard modules in terms of homology of graded quiver varieties.

Quantum Grothendieck rings and derived Hall algebras

We obtain a presentation of the t-deformed Grothendieck ring of a quantum loop algebra of Dynkin type A, D, E. Specializing t at the the square root of the cardinality of a finite field F, we obtain an isomorphism with the derived Hall algebra of the derived category of a quiver Q of the same Dynkin type. Along the way, we study for each choice of orientation Q a tensor subcategory whose t-deformed Grothendieck ring is isomorphic to the positive part of a quantum enveloping algebra of the same Dynkin type, where the classes of simple objects correspond to Lusztig's dual canonical basis.

Factorial cluster algebras

We show that cluster algebras do not contain non-trivial units and that all cluster variables are irreducible elements. Both statements follow from Fomin and Zelevinsky's Laurent phenomenon. As an application we give a criterion for a cluster algebra to be a factorial algebra. This can be used to construct cluster algebras, which are isomorphic to polynomial rings. We also study various kinds of upper bounds for cluster algebras, and we prove that factorial cluster algebras coincide with their upper bounds.

Monoidal categorifications of cluster algebras of type A and D

In this note, we introduce monoidal subcategories of the tensor category of finite-dimensional representations of a simply-laced quantum affine algebra, parametrized by arbitrary Dynkin quivers. For linearly oriented quivers of types A and D, we show that these categories provide monoidal categorifications of cluster algebras of the same type. The proof is purely representation-theoretical, in the spirit of [arXiv:0903.1452].

Quantum loop algebras, quiver varieties, and cluster algebras

These notes reflect the contents of three lectures given at the workshop of the 14th International Conference on Representations of Algebras (ICRA XIV), held in August 2010 in Tokyo. We first provide an introduction to quantum loop algebras and their finite-dimensional representations. We explain in particular Nakajima's geometric description of the irreducible q-characters in terms of graded quiver varieties. We then present a recent attempt to understand the tensor structure of the category of finite- dimensional representations by means of cluster algebras.

Cluster algebra structures and semicanonical bases for unipotent groups

Let Q be a finite quiver without oriented cycles, and let $Λ$ be the associated preprojective algebra. To each terminal representation M of Q (these are certain preinjective representations), we attach a natural subcategory $C_M$ of $mod(Λ)$. We show that $C_M$ is a Frobenius category, and that its stable category is a Calabi-Yau category of dimension 2. Then we develop a theory of mutations of maximal rigid objects of $C_M$, analogous to the mutations of clusters in Fomin and Zelevinsky's theory of cluster algebras. We show that $C_M$ yields a categorification of a cluster algebra $A(C_M)$, which is not acyclic in general. We give a realization of $A(C_M)$ as a subalgebra of the graded dual of the enveloping algebra $U(\n)$, where $\n$ is a maximal nilpotent subalgebra of the symmetric Kac-Moody Lie algebra $\g$ associated to the quiver Q. Let $S^*$ be the dual of Lusztig's semicanonical basis $S$ of $U(\n)$. We show that all cluster monomials of $A(C_M)$ belong to $S^*$, and that $S^* \cap A(C_M)$ is a basis of $A(C_M)$. Next, we prove that $A(C_M)$ is naturally isomorphic to the coordinate ring of the finite-dimensional unipotent subgroup $N(w)$ of the Kac-Moody group $G$ attached to $\g$. Here w = w(M) is the adaptable element of the Weyl group of $\g$ which we associate to each terminal representation M of Q. Moreover, we show that the cluster algebra obtained from $A(C_M)$ by formally inverting the generators of the coefficient ring is isomorphic to the coordinate ring of the unipotent cell $N^w := N \cap (B_-wB_-)$ of G. We obtain a corresponding dual semicanonical basis of this coorindate ring.
