Exploiting νν-dependence of projected energy correlators in HICs

We extend the recently derived factorization formula for energy-energy correlators to study the analytic structure of general νν-point projected energy correlators in heavy ion collisions. The νν-point projected energy correlators (or, νν-correlators) are an analytically continued family of the integer NN-point projected energy correlators, which probe correlations between NN final-state particles. By tracking the largest separation (χχ) between the NN particles, in vacuum, their structure is closely related to the DGLAP splitting functions and exhibits a classical scaling behavior ∼1/χ\sim 1/χ which is modified by resummation through the anomalous dimensions. We show that, in a thermal medium, the νν-correlators display non-trivial angular scaling already at the leading order in perturbation theory. We find that for non-integer values, particularly ν<1ν<1, medium-induced jet function is enhanced compared to ν>1ν>1. This is particularly manifested in the ratios of νν-correlators with respect to the two-point energy correlator which encode an intrinsic angular information for ν<1ν<1 when compared to large νν values. Moreover, for small-νν values, the νν-correlators appear to saturate at ν=0.01ν=0.01. We further confirm our leading-order numerical computations against simulated events from JEWEL for the parton level production cross-section. Finally, we qualitatively discuss the effect of BFKL resummation for various values of νν.

Use of ZZ polarization in e+e−→ZHe^+e^- \to ZH to measure the triple-Higgs coupling

It is shown that a certain angular asymmetry of charged leptons produced in the decay of ZZ in the process e+e−→ZHe^+e^- \to ZH, related to a tensor polarization component of the ZZ, can be used to constrain the anomalous triple-Higgs coupling, independent of the other anomalous couplings like the ZZHZZH coupling which dominate at tree level. This is because the angular asymmetry is odd under na\" ive time reversal, and hence dependent on loop-level contributions. At a future e+e−e^+e^- collider like the International Linear Collider (ILC), for example, a limit of about 3.43.4 might be placed on the ratio of the actual triple Higgs coupling to that predicted in the standard model for a centre-of-mass energy of 500 GeV and an integrated luminosity of 30 fb−1^{-1} with electron and positron beams having longitudinal polarization of −80%-80\% and +30%+30\%, respectively.

HQ Collisional energy loss in a magnetized medium

We study the effect of the magnetic field on the collisional energy loss of heavy quark (HQ) moving in a magnetized thermal partonic medium. This is investigated in the strong field approximation where the lowest Landau level (LLL) becomes relevant. We work in the limit geB≪T≪eBg\sqrt{eB}\ll T\ll \sqrt{eB} which is relevant for heavy ion collisions. Effects of the magnetic field are incorporated through the resummed gluon propagator in which the dominant contribution arises from the quark loop. We also take the approximation eB≪M\sqrt{eB}\ll M, M being the HQ mass, so that the HQ is not Landau quantized. It turns out that there are only two types of scatterings that contribute to the energy loss of HQ; the Coulomb scattering of HQ with light quarks/anti-quarks and the t-channel Compton scattering. It is observed that for a given magnetic field, the dominant contribution to the collisional energy loss arises from Compton scattering process i.e., Qg→QgQg\rightarrow Qg. On the other hand, of the two processes, the Coulomb scattering i.e., Qq→QqQq\rightarrow Qq is more sensitive to the magnetic field. The net collisional energy loss is seen to increase with increase in the magnetic field. For a reasonable strength of the magnetic field, the field dependent contribution to the collisional energy loss is of the same order as to the case without magnetic field which can be important for the jet quenching phenomena in the heavy ion collision experiments.

Heavy quark transport in a viscous semi QGP

We study the effect of shear and bulk viscosities on the heavy quark transport coefficient within the matrix model of semi QGP. Dissipative effects are incorporated through the first-order viscous correction in the quark/antiquark and gluon distribution function. It is observed that while the shear viscosity effects reduces the drag of heavy quark the bulk viscosity effects increase the drag and the diffusion coefficients of heavy quark. For finite values of η/s and ξ/s, Polyakov loop further decreases the drag and the diffusion coefficients as compared to perturbative QCD.
