Lévy noise-driven escape from arctan potential wells

The escape from a potential well is an archetypal problem in the study of stochastic dynamical systems, representing real-world situations from chemical reactions to leaving an established home range in movement ecology. Concurrently, L{é}vy noise is a well-established approach to model systems characterized by statistical outliers and diverging higher-order moments, ranging from gene expression control to the movement patterns of animals and humans. Here, we study the problem of Lévy noise-driven escape from an almost rectangular, arctan potential well restricted by two absorbing boundaries. We unveil analogies of the observed transient dynamics to the general properties of stationary states of L{é}vy processes in single-well potentials. The first escape dynamics is shown to exhibit exponential tails. We examine the dependence of the escape on the shape parameters, steepness and height, of the arctan potential. Finally, we explore in detail the behavior of the probability densities of the first-escape time and the last-hitting point.

Perfect cylindrical cloak under gyration, Non-inertial effects make perfect cloak visible

In this study, the impact of non-inertial effects, caused by rotational motion, on the cylindrical perfect cloak is simulated. Also, the interactions between plane waves, Gaussian sine, and Gaussian pulse are investigated. it is shown that non-inertial perfect cloak could be detectable with the Sagnac and magnetoelectric effects.at low frequency of gyration, the distortion of waveform pattern is humble and negligible, however when the rotational frequency increases, the pattern distortion becomes huge and wavelets are formed and their intensity grows up. the scattering pattern can be influenced by the direction of rotation, thus, the direction of rotation could be identified with the scattering pattern analysis. Also, a method for measuring rotational velocity can be prepared concerning the electric field phase retardation. the simulation is computed using the FDTD methods by transforming the Maxwell's equations from non-inertial frameworks to the lab framework.

Area coverage of radial Levy flights with periodic boundary conditions

We consider the time evolution of two-dimensional Levy flights in a finite area with periodic boundary conditions. From simulations we show that the fractal path dimension d_f and thus the degree of area coverage grows in time until it reaches the saturation value d_f=2 at sufficiently long times. We also investigate the time evolution of the probability density function and associated moments in these boundary conditions. Finally we consider the mean first passage time as function of the stable index. Our findings are of interest to assess the ergodic behavior of Levy flights, to estimate their efficiency as stochastic search mechanisms and to discriminate them from other types of search processes.

Electroluminescence and photoluminescence of conjugated polymer films prepared by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition of naphthalene

Polymer light-emitting devices were fabricated utilizing plasma polymerized thin films as emissive layers. These conjugated polymer films were prepared by RF Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) using naphthalene as monomer. The effect of different applied powers on the chemical structure and optical properties of the conjugated polymers was investigated. The fabricated devices with structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/ plasma polymerized Naphthalene/Alq3/Al showed broadband Electroluminescence (EL) emission peaks with center at 535-550 nm. Using different structural and optical tests, connection between polymers chemical structure and optical properties under different plasma powers has been studied. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopies confirmed that a conjugated polymer film with a 3-D cross-linked network was developed. By increasing the power, products tended to form as highly cross-linked polymer films. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of plasma polymers showed different excimerc emissions, resulted from crosslinked architecture. Further analysis showed an interesting change in dominance of excimeric emissions by increasing the power. In fact, as the plasma power increased, the optical properties showed two different domains; up to 200 w, EL, PL and UV-Vis spectra red-shifted and broadened significantly. At higher powers, a reverse behavior was observed. Also, the relation between the film structure and plasma species was investigated using Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES).

Precise Calculation of Single and Double Ionization of Hydrogen Molecule in Intense Laser Pulses

A new simulation box setup is introduced for the precise description of the wavepacket evolution of two electronic systems in intense laser pulses. In this box, the regions of the hydrogen molecule H$_{2} $, and singly and doubly ionized species, H$_{2}^+ $ and H$_{2}^{+2} $, are well recognized and their time-dependent populations are calculated at different laser field intensities. In addition, some new regions are introduced and characterized as quasi-double ionization and their time-dependencies on the laser field intensity are calculated and analyzed. The adopted simulation box setup is special in that it assures proper evaluation of the second ionization. In this study, the dynamics of the electrons and nuclei of the hydrogen molecule are separated based on the adiabatic approximation. The time-dependent Schrödinger and Newton equations are solved simultaneously for the electrons and the nuclei, respectively. Laser pulses of 390 nm wavelength at four different intensities (i.e. $ 1\times10^{14} $, $ 5\times10^{14} $, $ 1\times10^{15} $, and $ 5\times10^{15} $ W cm$^{-2}$) are used in these simulations. Details of the central H$_{2} $ region is also presented and discussed. This region is divided into four sub-regions related to the ionic state H$^+$H$^-$ and covalent (natural) state HH. The effect of the motion of nuclei on the enhanced ionization is discussed. Finally, some different time-dependent properties are calculated and their dependencies on the intensity of the laser pulse are studied, and their correlations with the populations of different regions are analyzed.

Nuclear classical dynamics of H$_2$ in intense laser field

In the first part of this paper, the different distinguishable pathways and regions of the single and sequential double ionization are determined and discussed. It is shown that there are two distinguishable pathways for the single ionization and four distinct pathways for the sequential double ionization. It is also shown that there are two and three different regions of space which are related to the single and double ionization respectively. In the second part of the paper, the time dependent Schrödinger and Newton equations are solved simultaneously for the electrons and the nuclei of H$_2$ respectively. The electrons and nuclei dynamics are separated on the base of the adiabatic approximation. The soft-core potential is used to model the electrostatic interaction between the electrons and the nuclei. A variety of wavelengths (390 nm, 532 nm and 780 nm) and intensities ($5\times10^{14}$ $Wcm^{-2} $ and $ 5\times10^{15}$ $Wcm^{-2}$) of the ultrashort intense laser pulses with a sinus second order envelope function are used. The behaviour of the time dependent classical nuclear dynamics in the absence and present of the laser field are investigated and compared. In the absence of the laser field, there are three distinct sections for the nuclear dynamics on the electronic ground state energy curve. The bond hardening phenomenon does not appear in this classical nuclear dynamics simulation.

Pathway of D$^{+}$ in Sequential Double Ionization of D$_2$ in an Intense Laser Pulse

We show the details of the pathway for dissociative ionization process of ground electronic state of aligned D$^{+}_{2}$ due to first ionization of D$_2$ in short ($\thicksim$100 fs) and intense ($4.0\times10^{14}$ W cm$^{-2}$) 480 nm laser pulses. The initial vibrational state of D$^{+}_{2}$ comes from the vertical transformation of the ground state of D$_{2}$. The initial wavepacket in the ground electronic state of D$_{2}^{+}$ is outgoing through dissociation-ionization channel accompanied by a strong coupling between $1s σ_{g}$ and $2p σ_{u}$ electronic states. We show explicitly that the transition from the coupling states $1s σ_{g}$ and $2p σ_{u}$ to the ionization state is not a direct transition but takes place through other intermediate states with some dissociation energy that results in the internuclear distribution of the ionization to move considerably to larger internuclear distances.
