Dynamics of Noncommutative Solitons I: Spectral Theory and Dispersive Estimates

We consider the Schrödinger equation with a Hamiltonian given by a second order difference operator with nonconstant growing coefficients, on the half one dimensional lattice. This operator appeared first naturally in the construction and dynamics of noncommutative solitons in the context of noncommutative field theory. We prove pointwise in time decay estimates, with the optimal decay rate $t^{-1}\log^{-2}t$ generically. We use a novel technique involving generating functions of orthogonal polynomials to achieve this estimate.

Polar Coordinates and Noncommutative Phase Space

The so-called Weyl transform is a linear map from a commutative algebra of functions to a noncommutative algebra of linear operators, characterized by an action on Cartesian coordinate functions of the form $(x, y) \mapsto (X, Y)$ such that $XY -YX = iεI$, i.e. the defining relation for the Heisenberg Lie algebra. Study of this transform has been expansive. We summarize many important results from the literature. The primary goal of this work is to prove the final result: the realization of the polar transformation $(ρ, e^{iθ}) \mapsto (R, e^{iΘ})$ in terms of explicit orthogonal function expansions, while starting from elementary principles and utilizing minimal machinery. Our results are not strictly original but their presentation here is intended to simplify introduction to these subjects in a novel manner.

Structure of Noncommutative Solitons: Existence and Spectral Theory

We consider the Schrödinger equation with a Hamiltonian given by a second order difference operator with nonconstant growing coefficients, on the half one dimensional lattice. This operator appeared first naturally in the construction and dynamics of noncommutative solitons in the context of noncommutative field theory. We construct a ground state soliton for this equation and analyze its properties. In particular we arrive at $\ell^{\infty}$ and $\ell^{1}$ estimates as well as a quasi-exponential spatial decay rate.

Dynamics of Noncommutative Solitons II: Spectral Theory, Dispersive Estimates and Stability

We consider the Schrödinger equation with a (matrix) Hamiltonian given by a second order difference operator with nonconstant growing coefficients, on the half one dimensional lattice. This operator appeared first naturally in the construction and dynamics of noncommutative solitons in the context of noncommutative field theory. We completely determine the spectrum of the Hamiltonian linearized around a ground state soliton and prove the optimal decay rate of $t^{-1}\log^{-2}t$ for the associated time decay estimate. We use a novel technique involving generating functions of orthogonal polynomials to achieve this estimate.
