Gardner's deformation of the Krasil'shchik-Kersten system

The classical problem of construction of Gardner's deformations for infinite-dimensional completely integrable systems of evolutionary partial differential equations (PDE) amounts essentially to finding the recurrence relations between the integrals of motion. Using the correspondence between the zero-curvature representations and Gardner deformations for PDE, we construct a Gardner's deformation for the Krasil'shchik-Kersten system. For this, we introduce the new nonlocal variables in such a way that the rules to differentiate them are consistent by virtue of the equations at hand and second, the full system of Krasil'shchik-Kersten's equations and the new rules contains the Korteweg-de Vries equation and classical Gardner's deformation for it. The right-hand side of the Jacobi identity: to be naught or not to be?

The geometric approach [1312.1262] to iterated variations of local functionals -- e.g., of the (master-)action functional -- resulted in an extension of the deformation quantisation technique to the set-up of Poisson models of field theory [IHES/M/15/13]. It also allowed of a rigorous proof ([1312.1262],[1210.0726]) for the main inter-relations between the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) Laplacian $Δ$ and variational Schouten bracket. The ad hoc use of these relations had been a known analytic difficulty in the BV-formalism for quantisation of gauge systems; now achieved, the proof does actually not require the assumption of graded-commutativity [1210.0726]. Explained in our previous work, geometry's self-regularisation is rendered by Gel'fand's calculus of singular linear integral operators supported on the diagonal. We now illustrate that analytic technique by inspecting the validity mechanism [1312.4140] for the graded Jacobi identity which the variational Schouten bracket does satisfy (whence $Δ^2=0$, i.e., the BV-Laplacian is a differential acting in the algebra of local functionals). By using one tuple of three variational multi-vectors twice, we contrast the new logic of iterated variations -- when the right-hand side of Jacobi's identity vanishes altogether -- with the old method: interlacing its steps and stops, it could produce some non-zero representative of the trivial class in the top-degree horizontal cohomology. But we then show at once by an elementary counterexample why, in the frames of the old approach that did not rely on Gel'fand's calculus, the BV-Laplacian failed to be a graded derivation of the variational Schouten bracket. Towards an axiomatic model of fundamental interactions at Planck scale

By exploring possible physical sense of notions, structures, and logic in a class of noncommutative geometries, we try to unify the four fundamental interactions within an axiomatic quantum picture. We identify the objects and algebraic operations which could properly encode the formation and structure of sub-atomic particles, antimatter, annihilation, CP-symmetry violation, mass endowment mechanism, three lepton-neutrino matchings, spin, helicity and chirality, electric charge and electromagnetism, as well as the weak and strong interaction between particles, admissible transition mechanisms (e.g., muon to muon neutrino, electron, and electron antineutrino), and decays (e.g., neutron to proton, electron, and electron antineutrino).

Gardner's deformations as generators of new integrable systems

We re-address the problem of construction of new infinite-dimensional completely integrable systems on the basis of known ones, and we reveal a working mechanism for such transitions. By splitting the problem's solution in two steps, we explain how the classical technique of Gardner's deformations facilitates -- in a regular way -- making the first, nontrivial move, in the course of which the drafts of new systems are created (often, of hydrodynamic type). The other step then amounts to higher differential order extensions of symbols in the intermediate hierarchies (e.g., by using the techniques of Dubrovin et al. [1,2] and Ferapontov et al. [3,4]).

The geometry of variations in Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism

This is a paper about geometry of (iterated) variations. We explain why no sources of divergence are built into the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) Laplacian, whence there is no need to postulate any ad hoc conventions such as "$δ(0)=0$" and "$\logδ(0)=0$" within BV-approach to quantisation of gauge systems. Remarkably, the geometry of iterated variations does not refer at all to the construction of Dirac's $δ$-function as a limit of smooth kernels. We illustrate the reasoning by re-deriving - but not just "formally postulating" - the standard properties of BV-Laplacian and Schouten bracket and by verifying their basic inter-relations (e.g., cohomology preservation by gauge symmetries of the quantum master-equation).

Homological evolutionary vector fields in Korteweg-de Vries, Liouville, Maxwell, and several other models

We review the construction of homological evolutionary vector fields on infinite jet spaces and partial differential equations. We describe the applications of this concept in three tightly inter-related domains: the variational Poisson formalism (e.g., for equations of Korteweg-de Vries type), geometry of Liouville-type hyperbolic systems (including the 2D Toda chains), and Euler-Lagrange gauge theories (such as the Yang-Mills theories, gravity, or the Poisson sigma-models). Also, we formulate several open problems.

On the variational noncommutative Poisson geometry

We outline the notions and concepts of the calculus of variational multivectors within the Poisson formalism over the spaces of infinite jets of mappings from commutative (non)graded smooth manifolds to the factors of noncommutative associative algebras over the equivalence under cyclic permutations of the letters in the associative words. We state the basic properties of the variational Schouten bracket and derive an interesting criterion for (non)commutative differential operators to be Hamiltonian (and thus determine the (non)commutative Poisson structures). We place the noncommutative jet-bundle construction at hand in the context of the quantum string theory.

Involutive distributions of operator-valued evolutionary vector fields and their affine geometry. II

We generalize the notion of a Lie algebroid over infinite jet bundle by replacing the variational anchor with an N-tuple of differential operators whose images in the Lie algebra of evolutionary vector fields of the jet space are subject to collective commutation closure. The linear space of such operators becomes an algebra with bi-differential structural constants, of which we study the canonical structure. In particular, we show that these constants incorporate bi-differential analogues of Christoffel symbols.

Hirota's virtual multi-soliton solutions of N=2 supersymmetric Korteweg-de Vries equations

We prove that Mathieu's N=2 supersymmetric Korteweg-de Vries equations with a=1 or a=4 admit Hirota's n-supersoliton solutions, whose nonlinear interaction does not produce any phase shifts. For initial profiles that can not be distinguished from a one-soliton solution at times t<<0, we reveal the possibility of a spontaneous decay and, within a finite time, transformation into a solitonic solution with a different wave number. This paradoxal effect is realized by the completely integrable N=2 super-KdV systems, whenever the initial soliton is loaded with other solitons that are virtual and become manifest through the tau-function as the time grows. Key words and phrases: Hirota's solitons, N=2 supersymmetric KdV, Krasil'shchik-Kersten system, phase shift, spontaneous decay.

Gardner's deformations of the Boussinesq equations

Using the algebraic method of Gardner's deformations for completely integrable systems, we construct the recurrence relations for densities of the Hamiltonians for the Boussinesq and the Kaup-Boussinesq equations. By extending the Magri schemes for these systems, we obtain new integrable equations adjoint with respect to the initial ones and describe their Hamiltonian structures and symmetry properties.
