Twisted Conjugacy in Linear Algebraic Groups II

Let $G$ be a linear algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$ and $\mathrm{Aut}_{\mathrm{alg}}(G)$ the group of all algebraic group automorphisms of $G$. For every $φ\in \mathrm{Aut}_{\mathrm{alg}}(G)$ let $\mathcal{R}(φ)$ denote the set of all orbits of the $φ$-twisted conjugacy action of $G$ on itself (given by $(g,x)\mapsto gxφ(g^{-1})$, for all $g,x\in G$). We say that $G$ has the algebraic $R_\infty$-property if $\mathcal{R}(φ)$ is infinite for every $φ\in \mathrm{Aut}_{\mathrm{alg}}(G)$. In \citep{bb} we have shown that this property is satisfied by every connected non-solvable algebraic group. From a theorem due to Steinberg it follows that if a connected algebraic group $G$ has the algebraic $R_\infty$-property, then $G^φ$ (the fixed-point subgroup of $G$ under $φ$) is infinite for all $φ\in \mathrm{Aut}_{\mathrm{alg}}(G)$. In this article we show that the condition is also sufficient. We also show that a Borel subgroup of any semisimple algebraic group has the algebraic $R_\infty$-property and identify certain classes of solvable algebraic groups for which the property fails.

Determination of the second virial coefficient of interacting Bosons using the method of Wigner distribution function

In a previous article \cite{kn:anirban1} a method has been introduced to derive the all order Bose-Einstein distribution of the non interacting Bosons as the solution of the Wigner equation. The process was a perturbative one where the Bose-Einstein distribution was taken as the unperturbed solution. In this article it is shown that the same formalism is also applicable in the case of interacting Bosons. The formalism has been applied to calculate the quantum second virial coefficient of the Bosons interacting pairwise via Lenard-Jones potential and compared with the previous result.

Twisted conjugacy in linear algebraic groups

Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field, $G$ a linear algebraic group over $k$ and $φ\in Aut(G)$, the group of all algebraic group automorphisms of $G$. Two elements $x, y$ of $G$ are said to be $φ$-twisted conjugate if $y=gxφ(g)^{-1}$ for some $g\in G$. In this paper we prove that for a connected non-solvable linear algebraic group $G$ over $k$, the number of its $φ$-twisted conjugacy classes is infinite for every $φ\in Aut(G)$.

Construction of a more complete quantum fluid model from Wigner-Boltzmann Equation with all higher order quantum corrections

A semiclassical Quantum Hydrodynamic model has been derived by taking the moments of the Wigner-Boltzmann equation. For the first time, the closure has been achieved by the use of the momentum shifted version of all order quantum corrected solution of the Wigner-Boltzmann equation and that has considerably extended the applicability of the model towards the low temperature and high density limit. In this context, the importance of the correlation and exchange effects have been retained through the Kohn-Sham equation in the construction of the Wigner-Boltzmann equation. The validity of the approach is subject to the existence of the Taylor's expansion of the associated Kohn-Sham potential.

A simple method to obtain the equilibrium solution of Wigner-Boltzmann Equation with all higher order quantum corrections

A simple method has been introduced to furnish the equilibrium solution of the Wigner equation for all order of the quantum correction. This process builds up a recursion relation involving the coefficients of the different power of the velocity. The technique greatly relies upon the proper guess work of the trial solution and is different from the Wigner s original work. The solution is in a compact exponential form with a polynomial of velocity in the argument and returns the Wigner s form when expansion of the exponential factor is carried out. The study keeps its importance in studying various close as well as open quantum mechanical system. In addition, this solution may be employed to obtain the non equilibrium one particle wigner distribution in the relaxation-time approximation and under near-equilibrium conditions.

Quantum corrections to nonlinear ion acoustic wave with Landau damping

Quantum corrections to nonlinear ion acoustic wave with Landau damping have been computed using Wigner equation approach. The dynamical equation governing the time development of nonlinear ion acoustic wave with semiclassical quantum corrections is shown to have the form of higher KdV equation which has higher order nonlinear terms coming from quantum corrections, with the usual classical and quantum corrected Landau damping integral terms. The conservation of total number of ions is shown from the evolution equation. The decay rate of KdV solitary wave amplitude due to presence of Landau damping terms has been calculated assuming the Landau damping parameter $α_1 = \sqrt{{m_e}/{m_i}}$ to be of the same order of the quantum parameter $Q = {\hbar^2}/({24 m^2 c^2_{s} L^2})$. The amplitude is shown to decay very slowly with time as determined by the quantum factor $ Q$.

On the Genus number of Algebraic groups

We compute the number of orbit types for simply connected simple algebraic groups over algebraically closed fields as well as for compact simply connected simple Lie groups. We also compute the number of orbit types for the adjoint action of these groups on their Lie algebras. We also prove that the genus number of a connected reductive algebraic group coincides with the genus number of its semisimple part.
