Scalar-tensor cosmologies in a minisuperspace formulation: a case study

We revisit a general minisuperspace (MSS) formalism for scalar-tensor (ST) FLRW type cosmological models in arbitrary frame with perfect fluid source. We discuss how to impose Cauchy data on the corresponding dynamical system in order to reconstruct standard (ΛCDM) cosmological model. So far, the integrability of such models has been extensively studied in the Einstein or Jordan frames mainly. We extend these studies to arbitrary frame taking into account non-minimal coupling between matter and gravity. To this aim we explore a gauge freedom associated with a choice of lapse function. We show that particular isothermal MSS coordinates are related with Einstein frames representing solution equivalent classes and have some invariant meaning. This provides new universal framework for investigating cosmic evolution in arbitrary frame: analytical solutions obtained in the Einstein frame can be transformed back to the physical frame by making use of a conformal transformation and field redefinition. We also show how such technique can be useful when applied to Wheeler-DeWitt quantum cosmology.

New class of hybrid metric-Palatini scalar-tensor theories of gravity

A class of scalar-tensor theories (STT) including a non-metricity that unifies metric, Palatini and hybrid metric-Palatini gravitational actions with non-minimal interaction is proposed and investigated from the point of view of their consistency with generalized conformal transformations. It is shown that every such theory can be represented on-shell by a purely metric STT possessing the same solutions for a metric and a scalar field. A set of generalized invariants is also proposed. This extends the formalism previously introduced in \cite{kozak2019}. We then apply the formalism to Starobinsky model, write down the Friedmann equations for three possible cases: metric, Palatini and hybrid metric-Palatini, and compare some inflationary observables.

Central tetrads and quantum spacetimes

In this paper, we perform a parallel analysis to the model proposed in [25]. By considering the central co-tetrad (instead of the central metric), we investigate the modifications in the gravitational metrics coming from the noncommutative spacetime of the $κ$-Minkowski type in four dimensions. The differential calculus corresponding to a class of Jordanian $κ$-deformations provides metrics, which lead either to cosmological constant or spatial curvature type solutions of non-vacuum Einstein equations. Among vacuum solutions, we find pp-wave type.

Inflationary cosmology with Chaplygin gas in Palatini formalism

We present a simple generalisation of the $Λ$CDM model which on the one hand reaches very good agreement with the present day experimental data and provides an internal inflationary mechanism on the other hand. It is based on Palatini modified gravity with quadratic Starobinsky term and generalized Chaplygin gas as a matter source providing, besides a current accelerated expansion, the epoch of endogenous inflation driven by type III freeze singularity. It follows from our statistical analysis that astronomical data favors negative value of the parameter coupling quadratic term into Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian and as a consequence the bounce instead of initial Big-Bang singularity is preferred.

Yang-Baxter sigma models and Lax pairs arising from $κ$-Poincaré $r$-matrices

We study Yang-Baxter sigma models with deformed 4D Minkowski spacetimes arising from classical $r$-matrices associated with $κ$-deformations of the Poincaré algebra. These classical $κ$-Poincaré $r$-matrices describe three kinds of deformations: 1) the standard deformation, 2) the tachyonic deformation, and 3) the light-cone deformation. For each deformation, the metric and two-form $B$-field are computed from the associated $r$-matrix. The first two deformations, related to the modified classical Yang-Baxter equation, lead to T-duals of dS$_4$ and AdS$_4$\,, respectively. The third deformation, associated with the homogeneous classical Yang-Baxter equation, leads to a time-dependent pp-wave background. Finally, we construct a Lax pair for the generalized $κ$-Poincaré $r$-matrix that unifies the three kinds of deformations mentioned above as special cases.

Low energy Greybody factors for fermions emitted by a Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole

In this paper we are discussing the problem of low-energy greybody factors for fermions emitted by a Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole. In our study we are using the analytical methods proposed by Unruh some time ago for determining the greybody factors. We have found that at low energies the greybody factors are constant for a given total angular momentum (similar to what happens in the case of scalar particles reported before in the literature). Also our results are indicating an enhancement in the energy spectrum if one is increasing the value of the cosmological constant. These results are consistent with numerical calculations performed in Ref.[14] by S.F. Wu et al. (Phys.Rev.D 78, 084010).

Real and pseudoreal forms of D=4 complex Euclidean (super)algebras and super-Poincare / super-Euclidean r-matrices

We provide the classification of real forms of complex D=4 Euclidean algebra $\mathcalε(4; \mathbb{C}) = \mathfrak{o}(4;\mathbb{C})) \ltimes \mathbf{T}_{\mathbb{C}}^4$ as well as (pseudo)real forms of complex D=4 Euclidean superalgebras $\mathcalε(4|N; \mathbb{C})$ for N=1,2. Further we present our results: N=1 and N=2 supersymmetric D=4 Poincare and Euclidean r-matrices obtained by using D= 4 Poincare r-matrices provided by Zakrzewski [1]. For N=2 we shall consider the general superalgebras with two central charges.

$κ$-Deformations and Extended $κ$-Minkowski Spacetimes

We extend our previous study of Hopf-algebraic $κ$-deformations of all inhomogeneous orthogonal Lie algebras ${\rm iso}(g)$ as written in a tensorial and unified form. Such deformations are determined by a vector $τ$ which for Lorentzian signature can be taken time-, light- or space-like. We focus on some mathematical aspects related to this subject. Firstly, we describe real forms with connection to the metric's signatures and their compatibility with the reality condition for the corresponding $κ$-Minkowski (Hopf) module algebras. Secondly, $h$-adic vs $q$-analog (polynomial) versions of deformed algebras including specialization of the formal deformation parameter $κ$ to some numerical value are considered. In the latter the general covariance is lost and one deals with an orthogonal decomposition. The last topic treated in this paper concerns twisted extensions of $κ$-deformations as well as the description of resulting noncommutative spacetime algebras in terms of solvable Lie algebras. We found that if the type of the algebra does not depend on deformation parameters then specialization is possible.

Invariant solutions and Noether symmetries in Hybrid Gravity

Symmetries play a crucial role in physics and, in particular, the Noether symmetries are a useful tool both to select models motivated at a fundamental level, and to find exact solutions for specific Lagrangians. In this work, we consider the application of point symmetries in the recently proposed metric-Palatini Hybrid Gravity in order to select the $f({\cal R})$ functional form and to find analytical solutions for the field equations and for the related Wheeler-DeWitt (WDW) equation. We show that, in order to find out integrable $f({\cal R})$ models, conformal transformations in the Lagrangians are extremely useful. In this context, we explore two conformal transformations of the forms $dτ=N(a) dt$ and $dτ=N(ϕ) dt$. For the former conformal transformation, we found two cases of $f({\cal R})$ functions where the field equations admit Noether symmetries. In the second case, the Lagrangian reduces to a Brans-Dicke-like theory with a general coupling function. For each case, it is possible to transform the field equations by using normal coordinates to simplify the dynamical system and to obtain exact solutions. Furthermore, we perform quantization and derive the WDW equation for the minisuperspace model. The Lie point symmetries for the WDW equation are determined and used to find invariant solutions.

Unified description for kappa-deformations of orthogonal groups

In this paper we provide universal formulas describing Drinfeld-type quantization of inhomogeneous orthogonal groups determined by a metric tensor of an arbitrary signature living in a spacetime of arbitrary dimension. The metric tensor does not need to be in diagonal form and kappa-deformed coproducts are presented in terms of classical generators. It opens the possibility for future applications in deformed general relativity. The formulas depend on the choice of an additional vector field which parameterizes classical r-matrices. Non-equivalent deformations are then labeled by the corresponding type of stability subgroups. For the Lorentzian signature it covers three (non-equivalent) Hopf-algebraic deformations: time-like, space-like (a.k.a. tachyonic) and light-like (a.k.a. light-cone) quantizations of the Poincare algebra. Finally the existence of the so-called Majid-Ruegg (non-classical) basis is reconsidered.

$κ$-Minkowski Spacetimes and DSR Algebras: Fresh Look and Old Problems

Some classes of Deformed Special Relativity (DSR) theories are reconsidered within the Hopf algebraic formulation. For this purpose we shall explore a minimal framework of deformed Weyl-Heisenberg algebras provided by a smash product construction of DSR algebra. It is proved that this DSR algebra, which uniquely unifies $κ$-Minkowski spacetime coordinates with Poincaré generators, can be obtained by nonlinear change of generators from undeformed one. Its various realizations in terms of the standard (undeformed) Weyl-Heisenberg algebra opens the way for quantum mechanical interpretation of DSR theories in terms of relativistic (Stückelberg version) Quantum Mechanics. On this basis we review some recent results concerning twist realization of $κ$-Minkowski spacetime described as a quantum covariant algebra determining a deformation quantization of the corresponding linear Poisson structure. Formal and conceptual issues concerning quantum $κ$-Poincaré and $κ$-Minkowski algebras as well as DSR theories are discussed. Particularly, the so-called "$q$-analog" version of DSR algebra is introduced. Is deformed special relativity quantization of doubly special relativity remains an open question. Finally, possible physical applications of DSR algebra to description of some aspects of Planck scale physics are shortly recalled.

Dark Energy Dominance and Cosmic Acceleration in First Order Formalism

The current accelerated universe could be produced by modified gravitational dynamics as it can be seen in particular in its Palatini formulation. We analyze here a specific non-linear gravity-scalar system in the first order Palatini formalism which leads to a FRW cosmology different from the purely metric one. It is shown that the emerging FRW cosmology may lead either to an effective quintessence phase (cosmic speed-up) or to an effective phantom phase. Moreover, the already known gravity assisted dark energy dominance occurs also in the first order formalism. Finally, it is shown that a dynamical theory able to resolve the cosmological constant problem exists also in this formalism, in close parallel with the standard metric formulation.

Accelerated Cosmological Models in First-Order Non-Linear Gravity

The evidence of the acceleration of universe at present time has lead to investigate modified theories of gravity and alternative theories of gravity, which are able to explain acceleration from a theoretical viewpoint without the need of introducing dark energy. In this paper we study alternative gravitational theories defined by Lagrangians which depend on general functions of the Ricci scalar invariant in minimal interaction with matter, in view of their possible cosmological applications. Structural equations for the spacetimes described by such theories are solved and the corresponding field equations are investigated in the Palatini formalism, which prevents instability problems. Particular examples of these theories are also shown to provide, under suitable hypotheses, a coherent theoretical explanation of earlier results concerning the present acceleration of the universe and cosmological inflation. We suggest moreover a new possible Lagrangian, depending on the inverse of sinh(R), which gives an explanation to the present acceleration of the universe.
