Eigenvalue and Eigenvector Statistics in Time Series Analysis

The study of correlated time-series is ubiquitous in statistical analysis, and the matrix decomposition of the cross-correlations between time series is a universal tool to extract the principal patterns of behavior in a wide range of complex systems. Despite this fact, no general result is known for the statistics of eigenvectors of the cross-correlations of correlated time-series. Here we use supersymmetric theory to provide novel analytical results that will serve as a benchmark for the study of correlated signals for a vast community of researchers.

Eigenvectors under a generic perturbation: non-perturbative results from the random matrix approach

We consider eigenvectors of the Hamiltonian $H_0$ perturbed by a generic perturbation $V$ modelled by a random matrix from the Gaussian Unitary Ensemble (GUE). Using the supersymmetry approach we derive analytical results for the statistics of the eigenvectors, which are non-perturbative in $V$ and valid for an arbitrary deterministic $H_0$. Further we generalise them to the case of a random $H_0$, focusing, in particular, on the Rosenzweig-Porter model. Our analytical predictions are confirmed by numerical simulations.

Scaling of critical wavefunctions at topological Anderson transitions in 1D

Topological Anderson transitions, which are direct phase transitions between topologically distinct Anderson localised phases, allow for criticality in 1D disordered systems. We analyse the statistical properties of an emsemble of critical wavefunctions at such transitions. We find that the local moments are strongly inhomogeneous, with significant amplification towards the edges of the system. In particular, we obtain an analytic expression for the spatial profile of the local moments which is valid at all topological Anderson transitions in 1D, as we verify by direct comparison with numerical simulations of various lattice models.

Critical scaling of polarization waves on a heterogeneous chain of resonators

The intensity distribution of electromagnetic polar waves in a chain of near-resonant weakly-coupled scatterers is investigated theoretically and supported by a numerical analysis. Critical scaling behavior is discovered for part of the eigenvalue spectrum due to the disorder-induced Anderson transition. This localization transition (in a formally one-dimensional system) is attributed to the long-range dipole-dipole interaction, which decays inverse linearly with distance for polarization perpendicular to the chain. For polarization parallel to the chain, with inverse squared long range coupling, all eigenmodes are shown to be localized. A comparison with the results for Hermitian power-law random banded matrices and other intermediate models is presented. This comparison reveals the significance of non-Hermiticity of the model and the periodic modulation of the coupling.

Supersymmetry Approach to Almost Diagonal Random Matrices

We develop a supersymmetric field theoretical description of the Gaussian ensemble of the almost diagonal Hermitian Random Matrices. The matrices have independent random entries H_{ij} with parametrically small off-diagonal elements H_{ij}/H_{ii} ~ B << 1. We derive a regular virial expansion of correlation functions in the number of ``interacting'' supermatrices associated with different sites in the real space and demonstrate that the perturbation theory constructed in this way is controlled by a small parameter B. General form of the integral expression for the m-th virial coefficient governed by the ``interaction'' of m supermatrices is presented and calculated explicitly in the cases of 2- and 3-matrix ``interaction''. The suggested technique allows us to calculate both the spectral correlations and the correlations of the eigenfunctions taken at different energies and in different space points.
