Stone type representations and dualities by power set ring

In this paper, it is shown that the Boolean ring of a commutative ring is isomorphic to the ring of clopens of its prime spectrum. In particular, Stone's Representation Theorem is generalized. The prime spectrum of the Boolean ring of a given ring $R$ is identified with the Pierce spectrum of $R$. The discreteness of prime spectra is characterized. It is also proved that the space of connected components of a compact space $X$ is isomorphic to the prime spectrum of the ring of clopens of $X$. As another major result, it is shown that a morphism of rings between complete Boolean rings preserves suprema if and only if the induced map between the corresponding prime spectra is an open map.

Avoidance and Absorbance

We study the two dual notions of prime avoidance and prime absorbance. We generalize the classical prime avoidance lemma to radical ideals. A number of new criteria are provided for an abstract ring to be C.P. (every set of primes satisfies avoidance) or P.Z. (every set of primes satisfies absorbance). Special consideration is given to the interaction with chain conditions and Noetherian-like properties. It is shown that a ring is both C.P. and P.Z. iff it has finite spectrum.

On purely-prime ideals with applications

In this paper, new algebraic and topological results on purely-prime ideals of a commutative ring (pure spectrum) are obtained. Especially, Grothendieck type theorem is obtained which states that there is a canonical correspondence between the idempotents of a ring and the clopens of its pure spectrum. It is also proved that a given ring is a Gelfand ring iff its maximal spectrum equipped with the induced Zariski topology is homeomorphic to its pure spectrum. Then as an application, it is deduced that a ring is zero dimensional iff its prime spectrum and pure spectrum are isomorphic. Dually, it is shown that a given ring is a reduced mp-ring iff its minimal spectrum equipped with the induced flat topology and its pure spectrum are the same. Finally, the new notion of semi-Noetherian ring is introduced and Cohen type theorem is proved.

Structural results on harmonic rings and lessened rings

In this paper, a combination of algebraic and topological methods are applied to obtain new and structural results on harmonic rings. Especially, it is shown that if a Gelfand ring $A$ modulo its Jacobson radical is a zero dimensional ring, then $A$ is a clean ring. It is also proved that, for a given Gelfand ring $A$, then the retraction map Spec$(A)\rightarrow{\rm Max}(A)$ is flat continuous if and only if $A$ modulo its Jacobson radical is a zero dimensional ring. Dually, it is proved that for a given mp-ring $A$, then the retraction map Spec$(A)\rightarrow{\rm Min}(A)$ is Zariski continuous if and only if ${\rm Min}(A)$ is Zariski compact. New criteria for zero dimensional rings, mp-rings and Gelfand rings are given. The new notion of lessened ring is introduced and studied which generalizes "reduced ring" notion. Specially, a technical result is obtained which states that the product of a family of rings is a lessened ring if and only if each factor is a lessened ring. As another result in this spirit, the structure of locally lessened mp-rings is also characterized. Finally, it is characterized that a given ring when is a finite product of fields, integral domains, local rings, and lessened quasi-prime rings.

Gabriel localization theory and its applications

In this article first we develop the Gabriel localizations (abbreviated as G-localizations) for commutative rings, specially some new results in this direction are proven. Then, as an application, it is shown that a ring map is a flat epimorphism if and only if it corresponds to a kind of the G-localizations. As a by-product of this study, a characterization for the flatness of the quotient rings is given. The exactness of the G-localization functor are characterized. The structure of prime ideals in the G-localization rings are also studied. Finally, it is shown that the Gabriel localization theory is a natural generalization of the usual localization theory.

On the category of profinite spaces as a reflective subcategory

In this paper by using the ring of real-valued continuous functions $C(X)$, we prove a theorem in profinite spaces which states that for a compact Hausdorff space $X$, the set of its connected components $X/_{\sim}$ endowed with some topology $\mathscr{T}$ is a profinite space. Then we apply this result to give an alternative proof to the fact that the category of profinite spaces is a reflective subcategory in the category of compact Hausdorff spaces. Finally, under some circumstances on a space $X$, we compute the connected components of the space $t(X)$ in terms of the ones of the space $X$.
